Mary Ann Ledbetter

Mary Ann Ledbetter, 66, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, in Tulsa, Okla.
She was a daughter of the late Eldon and Mildred Pitts of Clarksville, 1955 graduate of Clarksville High School, former member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, former child care worker at LaPetite Academy in Tulsa, Okla., and an institutional cook at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., and Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna and Faye Ellen.
She is survived by two children, Joe Williams of Utah and Polly Van Fleet of Glenpool, Okla.; one brother, Dane Pitts of Hartman; and four grandchildren, Marcus Perry and Nicholas Perry, both of Tulsa, Okla., Courtney Perry and Rachel Van Fleet of Glenpool, Okla.
Funeral was Monday, Aug. 9, at the Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Okla.

Charles C. Mason Jr.

Charles Clifton Mason Jr., 62, of Oark died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clifton (Marie Sheppard) Mason Sr., laborer, and was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Lee Mason and Sherry Lynne Mason Boen.
Survivors include his widow, Nora Lee Brock Mason; one son, John Edward Mason of Clarksville; one sister, Margaret England of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Oark cemetery with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Dwight Stepp, Alan Stepp, Jeffery Stepp, Jeremy Stepp, Glenn Stepp Sr., and Keith Stepp.
Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Mason and Rick Williams.

Dora Atwell Miller

Funeral for Dora Atwell Miller, 88, a native of Johnson County, who died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Edwards Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with Rev. Steve Stewart and Rev. Brent Summerhill officiating. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Cottingham, David Ferguson, Jonathan Leonard, Dewaine Summerhill, Eric Summerhill, and Tony White.
Memorials may be made to Texarkana Baptist Orphanage, P. O. Box 611, Texarkana, AR 75504-0611.
She was the widow of John B. Miller, member of Cavanaugh Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith where she was active in several ministries for several years, and was employed for 33 years as a training aids officer at Fort Chaffee for the 4th U. S. Army, which was later known as the 5th U. S. Army.
She has no survivors.

Daniel D. Murray

Daniel Dwayne Joseph Murray, 53, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was an Army veteran, construction employee, and was preceded in death by one son, Dominic Murray.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Charles Bruton of Lamar; one son, Richard Murray of California; parents, Dwayne and Barbara Ann Casey Murray of Clarksville; one sister, Michaela Ratledge of California; three brothers, Mark Murray, Paul Murray, and Christopher Murray, all of California; and three grandchildren, Brittany Bruton, Makenzy Bruton and Bryr Bruton, all of Lamar.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Everette Ewing

Everette Ewing, 77, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at St. Vincent Medical Center.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Paul and Jessie Brown Ewing, graduate of Clarksville High School, Navy veteran of World War II, Methodist and retired Hancock Fabrics employee.
Survivors include one daughter, Lydia Ewing of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Roger Ewing of North Little Rock; one sister, Pat Shackleford of Conway; one grandchild, Zachary Maxey of Little Rock; five nieces; three nephews; one great-niece; three great-nephews; and companion, Debbie Ewing of Pine Bluff.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Lamar cemetery with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Karleen Howard

Karleen Howard, 66, of Barling died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
She was a former resident of Clarksville, native of Kansas City, Kan., and daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen Gritton Harms.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Howard; two daughters, Debbie Simpson of Clarksville and Katina Wadsworth of Barling; one son, Johnny Lee Howard of Clarksville; one sister, Cindy Giles of Lamar; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Burger officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Huey Simpson, Eric Brown, Lance Ralph, Joe Bieker, Carl Edwards and Steve Giles.
Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Phillip Ivan Crowder

Phillip Ivan Crowder, two-month-old son of Samantha Whitten of Clarksville and Thomas Crowder Jr. of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at his home.
Other survivors include one sister, Abby Lynn Crowder of the home; grandparents, Sharon and Larry Taylor and Wilma and John Helmert, all of Clarksville; great-grandmothers, Joann Horn of Clarksville and Dovie Carter of Crossett; great-great-grandmother, Nona Robinson of Andrews, Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Elizabeth Hall cemetery at New Blaine with John Ballard officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Helen Mae Terry

Helen Mae Terry, 84, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Margaret Gill Johnson, widow of Loyd Vernon Terry, retired beautician, Baptist, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Wise, Dorothy Clifton and Flora Johnson; and four brothers, Bill Johnson, Roy Johnson, Vonney Johnson, and Claude Johnson.
She is survived by four daughters, Judy Conrad of Missouri, Jan Eikel and Vicki Brown, both of Clarksville, and Barbara Miller of Missouri; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Bob Oden officiating. Burial was in Knoxville cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randy Terry, Ronnie Brown, Charlie Brown, Chris Brown, Jerry Beeman, and Dale Cole.

Joseph J. Oles Sr.

Joseph Joe Edward Oles Sr., 76, of Clarksville died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Fred L. and Ruby Josephine Temple Oles and a truck driver and strip pit employee.
Survivors include his widow, Geraldine Clark Oles; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edward (Helen) Oles Jr. of Clarksville; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in West Mount Zion cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Lee, Duane Steele, Roy Shook, Bill Ralph, Curtis Drum, and John (Bud) Morrow.

Jewell L. Yates

Jewell Lucille Yates, 83, of Coal Hill died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
She was a member of the Coal Hill First Baptist Church, Lady's Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and AARP, daughter of the late Ebb and Thelma Strickland Ogden, widow of Eulice Yates, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Ewell Ogden and Herbert Wayne Ogden.
She is survived by three sisters, Gladys Scott of Monticello and Louise Cromer and Jean Hall, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, J. B. Ogden of Wagoner, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Coal Hill First Baptist Church with burial in Coal Hill cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
