Marian Vaught

Marian (Mary) Vaught, 84, widow of Hoyt Vaught, died Aug. 23, 2004, at ELMC Hospice in Arvada, Colo.
She was born in Homestead, Mont., to Murdock and Annie McEachern, graduate of Medicine Lake High School, former resident of Medicine Lake and Poplar, Mont., and Casper, Wyo., member of the Fort Peck Tribes, retired oil company secretary, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Laverne Corne, and one son, Melvin Buckles.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ken (Gloria) Okazaki of Arvada, Colo.; two stepchildren, Jesse Vaught and Frankie Lea Mayer of Clarksville; two sisters, Annie Torgerson of Appleton, Minn., and Iva Mayhew of Jamestown, N. D.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A private interment will be held at the Oregon Trail Veterans cemetery in Casper, Wyo.
Memorials may be made to Exempla Lutheran Hospice, 8300 West 38th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.

Stephen B. Schumacher

Stephen B. Schumacher, 30, of London died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on County Road 3590.
He was a native of Russellville, graduate of Lamar High School and Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, attended Crossroads Community Church in London, and employed by Kersch Management Company.
Survivors include his parents, Edward and Joan Schumacher of London; grandmother, Genevieve Schumacher of London; three sisters, Joy Bliss of Fort Smith, Karen Smith of Rogers, and Lisa Schumacher of Boston, Mass.; two brothers, David Schumacher and Doug Schumacher, both of London; and dearly beloved Donette of London.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Crossroads Community Church at London with Edward Schumacher officiating.
Private family burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Hickey cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Anna Jane Pitts

Anna Jane Pitts, 83, of San Saba, Texas died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in San Angelo, Texas.
A native of Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Julia Howard Gibson, widow of Harley Vernon Pitts, member of the First Baptist Church in San Saba, Texas, and was preceded in death by two sisters.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Toy Harley Pitts of San Saba, Texas, Vernon Carl and Judy Pitts of Springtown, Texas, Allen Kay and Mary Pitts of Amarillo, Texas, and Darel Glen Pitts of Springtown, Texas; one daughter, Linda Ann Workman of San Saba, Texas; six grandchildren and spouses, Carla and Tim Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Carl (Lisa) Pitts Jr., Matthew David Workman, Kristen Ann and Michael Nelson, Charles Glen and Brandy Pitts, and Miles Clay Pitts; eight great-grandchildren, Deven, Lauren, Taylor, Harley, Chanae, Railey, Jackson and Jaela; one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Margie Gibson of St. Augustine, Fla.; one sister, Edna Davis of Clarksville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Howell-Doran Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas, with burial in Holt cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl Pitts Jr., Matthew Workman, Charlie Pitts, Clay Pitts, Michael Nelson and Tim Richardson.
Memorials may be made to the Holt cemetery Association, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Bonnie Mae Hefley

Bonnie Mae Hefley, 89, of Russellville, grandmother of James Daniel Hefley of Knoxville, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville.
She was a native of Russellville, daughter of the late William and Dora Dollar Bramlett, widow of Devoe Ernest Hefley, Pentecostal, and was preceded in death by one son, Hulen E. Hefley; two brothers, Burl and Roy Bramlett; and three sisters, Flonnie Lyle, Connie Roberts and Neomia Putman.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Alberta Hefley of London; nine other grandchildren, Debbie Hefley Meyer of Dover, Carmen Hefley of Springfield, Mo., Skip Hefley and Willie Hefley, both of St. Louis, Mo., Shirley Mae Cahill of Dixon, Tenn., Dale Meyer of Dover, Donna Gardner of Baldwin, Kan., Vaughn E. Hefley of Independence, Mo., and James M. Hefley Jr of Kansas City, Mo.; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Lee and Georgia Bramlett of Sun City, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial was in Tarlton cemetery at Lurton under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Earl E. Gifford

Earl Ernest Gifford, 84, of Lodi, Calif., died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of Russellville, former resident of the Spadra Community in Johnson County, high school graduate, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II after which he resided in Richmond, Calif., where he was employed by Standard Oil and Company as a supervisor for 35 years, and was a member of the Richmond Rod & Gun Club.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Gifford of Acampo, Calif., and Dan Gifford of Lodi, Calif.; two grandchildren, Verna Jane Gifford and Pamela Light; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Morrison of Folsom, Calif.
Private services were held with burial in Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, Calif.

Harry Hoffman

Harry Jack Hoffman, 83, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at his home.
He was a retired telephone company employee, Army veteran, and son of the late Allen and Edith Anderson Hoffman.
Survivors include his widow, Alice Mae Rose Hoffman; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jackie and Mark Nowotny and Linda Hoffman, all of Clarksville; two grandchildren, Alicia Nowotny and Jake Nowotny of Clarksville; and one sister, Diane McAlister of Russellville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Michael Sawyer and Rev. Glenn Newton officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tommy Hale, Dennis Brearley, Harold Edgell, Walter Nowotny, Jack Heil, and Ken Johnston.

Joyce C. McSwain

Joyce C. McSwain, 83, of Rio Rancho, N. M., died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004.
She was a daughter of the late Steven Kelly and Buela Castleberry, graduate of Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, member of the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by four brother.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Hansel Thomas Mc-
Swain, who is a former Johnson County resident; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Brenda McSwain of Placitas, N. M.; and one sister, Edna Rowland of Vernon, Texas.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church under the direction of Vista Verde Mortuary of Rio Rancho, N. M.

Lana F. Maynard

Lana Fay Maynard, 41, of Altus, mother of Ashley Milholland of Hartman, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004.
She was a native of Rogers, daughter of the late J. C. and Peggy Kendrick Maynard, and attended the Church of the Nazarene in Altus.
Other survivors include one son, Chris English of Altus; four sisters, her twin, Lisa Davison of Fayetteville, Ruby Dixon and Shirley Smith, both of Ozark, and Becky Boswell of Altus; one brother, James Kendrick of Ozark; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Makayla Milholland.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Liberty cemetery with Rev. James Kendrick officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Thomas M. Harrington

Thomas Michael Harrington, 56, of Maynard, brother of Dianna Holstead and Jane Tumbleson of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was a native of Bassett and son of the late Laverne Harrington.
Survivors include his father, Mack Harrington of Maynard; three brothers, Timothy Harrington of Hoxie, and Ronald Harrington and Donald Harrington, both of Jonesboro; and two other sisters, Terry Wood of Pine Bluff and Cathy Stephens of Jonesboro.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home followed by a private burial.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Regional Medical Center Neurosurgery Department.

Wilburn Hendrix

Wilburn Hendrix, 81, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Hunt, son of the later Walter and Viola Deathridge Hendrix, member of First Baptist Church and had served as a church usher for 53 years, Army veteran of World War II, former co-owner of Tipton-Hendrix Garage and Wrecker Service, retired cattle farmer, former policeman for the city of Clarksville, and retired member and former chief of the Clarksville Fire Department.
Survivors include his widow, Georgia Little Hendrix; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Janey Little of Hunt and Wayne and Bonnie Pyron of Clarksville; and a special friend and wife, Leon and Joyce Strope of Fayetteville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Brown officiating.
Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Donald Meek, Carl Kirshberger, Charles Over, Jesse Donaldson, James Richardson, and Steve Atkinson.
Honorary pallbearers were members and retired members of the Clarksville Fire Department.
