Steve O'Neal
Steve O'Neal, 48, of North Little Rock died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at St. Vincent Infirmary.
He was a truck driver for Key Stone, member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his widow, Eleanor Lynn Leonard O'Neal; two sons, Shawn O'Neal and Stephen O'Neal, both of the home; mother, Ameretta (Rita) Basham O'Neal of Clarksville; father, William M. O'Neal of Altus; three brothers, Don O'Neal of Wynne, Francis O'Neal of Citrus Springs, Fla., and Ronnie O'Neal of Little Rock; grandmother, Carrie Peters O'Neal Hardgraves of Fort Smith; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Chris Wingo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Little Rock Branch.
Bobby Joe Hampton
Bobby Joe Hampton, 30, of Knoxville died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 64 west of Clarksville.
He was a native of Ozark, attended Western Grove schools, and became disabled in a fatal accident which claimed the life of his brother, Randy, in 1989. He was also preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jess Hampton and Otto Farmer.
Survivors are his fiancee, Ashley White of Knoxville; one son, Dalton Hampton of the home; mother, Sue Hampton Dolmage of Clarksville; father, Bob Hampton of Knoxville; one brother, Ronnie Hampton of Knoxville; grandmother, Treva Hampton of Harrison; great-grandparents, Ethel and F. L. Popham of San Diego, Calif.; seven aunts, Marilyn Bickner of Jasper, Villa Friesen of Fallsville, Christie Prestridge of Hector, Glenna Freeman, Katherine Skelton, Linda Williams, and Viancie Hill; and seven uncles, David Hampton, Johnny Hampton, Les Farmer, Claude Hampton, James Hampton, Lydle Hampton and Lester Hampton.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Holder Chapel cemetery at Western Grove with Rev. Ricky Stone officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Hampton, David Hampton, Johnny Hampton, Les Farmer, L. D. Farmer, and Jackie Raby.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Wilcox, Don White, Chris White, George Friesen, and Wes Prestridge.
Erma Hardgrave
Erma Hardgrave, 85, of Clarksville died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at her home.
She was born at Clarksville to Arthur and Oma Laster King.
Survivors are her husband, Loren Hardgrave; three daughters, Ruby Bridges of Jacksonville, Shirley Magana of Van Nuys, Calif., and Catherine Midgett of Fresno, Calif.; one son, Leon Hardgrave of Clarksville; two sisters, Avis Pelecher of Fort Smith and Mavis Brown of Edmond, Okla.; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Lone Pine cemetery with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Hugh W. Harrison
Hugh W. Harrison, 78, of Jonesboro, father of Hugh W. Harrison III of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at his home.
A native of Mena, he moved to Jonesboro from Little Rock in 1971, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro, an attorney having received his degree from the University of Arkansas Law School, member of the Craighead County Bar Association and the Arkansas Bar Association, and was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Harrison; and two sisters.
He is survived by two other sons, Scott Harrison of Jonesboro and Martin Harrison of Hot Springs; one daughter, Ceila Mansur of Little Rock; two sisters, Jean Blockson of Pine Bluff and Charlotte Barton of Mena; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro with Dr. Steven Voris officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
Johnny E. Jones
Johnny Edward (Buster) Jones, 60, of Van Buren, brother of Patricia Miller of Hartman and Susie Richards of Coal Hill, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Johnny W. and Emma Jean Rowland Jones, and was employed as a technician for S&R Equipment.
Survivors include his widow, Jane Jones; two sons, Wayne and Michael Jones, both of Van Buren; two daughters, Carla Scruggs of Van Buren and Gina Ashlock of Dyer; one other sister, Velma Butler of Kibler; two brothers, Allen Jones of Van Buren and James Jones of Muldrow, Okla.; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with Rev. Joe Fonville officiating. Burial was at the Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Johnny, Jeffery and James Arville Jones, Tokey Roam, John Tindle and Jimmy Brewer.
James R. Whitaker II
James Russell Whitaker II, 42, of Homosassa, Fla., whose mother and stepfather, Mildred and Ben Russo reside in Clarksville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Muskogee, Okla., son of the late James R. Whitaker, U. S. Marine, and a self-employed carpet installer.
Other survivors are his widow, Maureen S. Whitaker; three sons, Jerrid Whitaker, Micheal Whitaker and Gabriel Whitaker, all of Homosassa, Fla.; one daughter, Lena Lacey of Summerfield, Fla.; one sister, Tracy Whitaker of St. Joe; and two grandchildren, Anthony and Lesly Lacey, both of Summerfield, Fla.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness, Fla., with Rev. Jay Cheshire officiating.
Kenneth Skinner
Kenneth Ray (Kenny) Skinner, 50, of Ozark, brother of Vanessa Hawkins of Coal Hill, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital.
He was a self-employed carpenter, a Pentecostal, and a native of Little Rock.
Survivors include his widow, Melba Adams Skinner; parents, Cloy and Earline Ryan Skinner of Altus; two other sisters, Sheila Julian of Ozark and Wendy Shepherd of Altus; one brother, Allen Skinner of Perryville; and one grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Forrest Wayne Primm officiating. Burial was at Mountain View cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bobby Acord, George Nichols, Danny Hawkins, Michael Durning, Michael Post, and Jim Ryan.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Pesterfield, Dr. David Gibbons, Buddy Cloos, Otto Haberer, Steve Acord, Gene Noble, Richard King, and Mark and Chad Tolton.
Lucille E. Hull
Lucille Elizabeth Hull, 85, of Little Rock died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002.
She was a native of Wilburton, Okla., daughter of the late Major Franklin and Arlina Carolyn Standridge Hull, graduate of Pottsville High School and Draughn's Business School, was employed by Farmer's Home Administration in Clarksville and was a civilian employee at Fort Chaffee before moving to Little Rock in 1959 to become administrative assistant in the office of the U. S. Attorney, Eastern District of Arkansas, from which she retired in 1982. She was active in Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir for many years, served as pianist for Newton Men's Bible Class, Butler Sunday School Class of which she was a member, and for religious services the church conducted in retirement homes. She was a member and pianist for AARP Chapter 2362 and NARFE Chapter 93, and a member of Cancer Friends and study circles in her church. She was a longtime member of Little Rock Musical Coterie, former organist for the Pottsville Methodist Church, volunteer at St. Vincent Infirmary for many years and received special recognition for her services there.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche; and one brother, Roy.
Survivors are nephew, Tommy Hull of Russellville and children; aunt, Ollie Karstetter of Clarksville and children; stepsister, Virginia Brown and husband, Reginald E. Brown of Denton, Texas, and children, Reginald L. Brown and Rosemary Clements; nieces, Pat Catron and Robin Pryor of Houston, Texas; and numerous cousins.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock with Dr. Jeffery B. Hampton and Bishop Kenneth Hicks officiating followed by burial at 2 p.m. in the Lamar cemetery.
Pallbearers were former and current attorneys in the U. S. Attorney's office with whom she worked.

Lucille Patterson
Lucille Patterson, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, in New Madrid, Mo.
A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Margaret Burton Reynolds, widow of Lawrence M. Patterson, member of the First Baptist Church in Lilbourn, Mo., and a quilt maker. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roscoe Reynolds and Dallas Reynolds; and two sisters, Ada Daniel and Ila Laster.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Laverne and Frank Hadder of New Madrid, Mo.; one son, Edward G. Patterson of Sikeston, Mo.; two grandchildren, Terry Hadder of New Madrid, Mo., and Debrah Jowers of Sylacauga, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Kristi Hadder of New Madrid, Mo., and Jack Edward Jowers of Sylacauga, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at the First Baptist Church in Lilbourn, Mo., with Rev. Don Stephens, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Mounds Park cemetery near Lilbourn, Mo.
Lillian L. Spainhour
Lillian Leon Spainhour, 75, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Clarksville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at her home.
She was a member of the Christian Church and widow of Harold Spainhour.
Survivors are one daughter, Mitizi Hale of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Ken Spainhour of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Brad Robinson of Nashville, Tenn., and Ashley Robinson of Tulsa, Okla.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Union Grove cemetery with Rev. Clyde Vire officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
