Dorothy Dillon
Dorothy M. Dillon, 97, of Fairfield Bay, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Indian Rock Village. Dorothy was a retired employee of Physicians Mutual Insurance of Omaha, Nebraska.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, a member of St. Francis Alter Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Columbia Court #401, Omaha, Nebraska, VFW Auxiliary, Indian Hills Golf Ladies, PRPOA of Fairfield Bay, and an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
She is survived by son Thom Dillon of Fairfield Bay; step­son Harold D. Dillon Jr., and step-daughter Diane Fast (William), both of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren plus great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Rosary will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, and Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Dorothy will be buried beside her late husband, Harold D. Dillon, in the Calvary cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Mount Michael Benedictine School in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home.

Adelia Corning
Adelia Corning, 95, of Clinton, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014. She was born April 2, 1919, in Capitan, New Mexico, to Issac and Leandra (Montoya) Chavis.
Adelia Corning grew up in West Texas and moved to Arkansas in 1954. She spent her last four years in Ozark Health Nursing Center. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church in Bee Branch, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, Master Gardener, an avid quilter, and a tough domino player. Children were her special joy. She was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jasper T. Corning; sons, Edward Corning and Ben Cornin;, step-son, Darrell Corning; three-stepdaughters, Hazel Eppler, Janice Kelly and Melba Dement; step grandson, Morris Dodd; granddaughter, Alexandra Brie Corning; two brothers, Dee Chavis and Isaac Chavis; and two sisters, Sue Abney and twin Selma Baxter.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jean Shertz of Missouri, and Carol Corning and husband Ed Pennebaker of Clinton; four sons, Terrell Corning and wife Wanda of Missouri, David Corning and wife JoAnn of Conway, Arkansas, Cecil Corning and wife Susan of Morrilton, Arkansas, and John Corning of Bee Branch, Arkansas; sister, Lillian Overturf of Mason City, Iowa; and many close family friends.
Pallbearers: Cody Harbison, Craig Shertz, Brad Corning, John Corning Jr., Ed Pennebaker, Eric Shertz and Heath Corning.
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton, Arkansas. Graveside service and 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Lloyd cemetery with Pastor George Odell officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Arkansas Alzheimer's Foundation www.alzark.org. Arrangements under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Lola Payne
Lola Mae Payne, 92, of Clinton, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. She was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Morganton Community, Arkansas, to Albert A. and Susan E. (Boone) Payne.
She was a member of the Rabbit Ridge Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, sister in law, LaVerne Payne of Bryant, AR; and close friends.
Pallbearers: Gary James, Johnny James, Dale James, Randy Nicholson, Tony Wilson and Jason Pavatt.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, and funeral was 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel, Clinton, Arkansas, with Brother Jason Schoenholz officiating. Burial was in Colony cemetery. Arrangements under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Wanda Ward
Wanda Lee Ward, 85, of Clinton, Arkansas, went to be with Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Conway Regional Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1929, to Harold H. and Flora A. (Thomas) Jenkins of Heber Springs, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Shirl W. Ward, DDS, and her son, Richard Ward. She is survived by her son, James Ward of Clinton, Arkansas; her daughter, Diane Pence of Cordova, Tennessee; and seven grandchildren, Derrick Ward, Jonathan Ward, Amy Helming, Alyssa Ward, Cassie Ward, George Pence and Grace Pence; and many other family and friends.
Graveside service and burial were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at Harness cemetery, Oxley, Arkansas, with Luther Branscum officiating. Arrangements under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Luther Edwards
Luther Madison Edwards, 94, of Bee Branch, Arkansas, died Sept. 14, 2014. He was born Aug. 14, 1920, to Charles and Dovie Edwards.
preceded in death by parents; son Jimmy Joe Edwards; six brothers; two sisters. Survivors: wife Willie Mae Edwards; children, Benny Edwards, Bee Branch, Helen Ward, Clinton, Patsy Rogers of Bee Branch; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Nicholson of Damascus.
Visitation 1p.m., funeral 2p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, Roller-McNutt, Clinton. Burial: Halbrook cemetery.

Ernie Ellis
Ernest “Ernie” Ellis Jr., 80, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Friday July 18, 2014. He was born Aug. 14, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Ernest and Jewel Ellis Sr.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven Scott Ellis; brother Alfred Ellis; and his beloved dog, Maggie.
Ernie was a veteran of the United States Air Force and employed as a Water Engineer until his retirement.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sandra Jean Ellis; daughters Valerie Fried (Guy) and Jeri Bearce (James), all of Macon, Georgia; Sandra’s children, Kurt Olson (Jannel) of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, Colleen Cullinan of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, and Vickie Ritsche of Forest Lake, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Jack Landgren (Karen), who were like a brother and sister to Ernie; sister Mildred Maxwell of Cincinnati, Ohio; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and interment were held at Peace Lutheran Church Edgemont, Arkansas, 72044, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014. Officiants Pastor Carol Trahan-True and Pastor Sue Flemr, retired. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Coy Sharp
Coy Raymond Sharp, age 85, of Perry, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Ozark Health Nursing Center in Clinton, Arkansas. He was born March 31, 1929, in Buckville, Arkansas, a son of Luther and Rosa (Blocker) Sharp. He was a member of Oppelo Baptist Church, a Mason and served in the Korean War.
He was survived by three brothers, Roy Sharp (Jean) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, R.J. Sharp of Yellville, and Jethro “Pete” Sharp of Greenbrier; two sisters, Arceal Morgan of Hesperia, California, and Allie Sue Jones of Scotland, Arkansas; nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 5, at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Gene Tanner and Bro. Billy Reese officiating. Burial was at Rock Springs cemetery, in Jessieville, Arkansas, by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family would like to thank Ozark Health Nursing Center, Hospice and Nicole Clark.

Mamie Payne
Mamie Lee Payne, 89, of Clinton was born July 19, 1925, to William and Pearl Cullum and passed from this life Sept. 2, 2014, in Clinton, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, but her labor of love was serving in the Grandparent Program at Van Buren County Special School in Choctaw, Arkansas. Mrs. Payne was of the Church of Christ faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H.D. Payne; two sisters, Ruby Cullum and Ruth Swartz; and three brothers, Leon, Claude and Bud Cullum. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Cindy Pulliam (Gary) of Cleveland, Arkansas; one son, Glen Payne of Guthrie, Oklahoma; one sister, June Cullum of Clinton, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jessica Woods, Matt Payne, Mike Payne and Muriel Long; seven great grandchildren; her special family at the Ozark Health Nursing Center; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Roller Mc-Nutt Funeral Home. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Scott officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ozark Health Nursing Center, 2500 Highway 65 South, Clinton, Arkansas, 72031. Service arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Gardner Bittle
Gardner Bittle, 84, of Brownsville passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2014. He was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Miller, Arkansas, to the late Walter and Rethea Jackson Bittle. Gardner was retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and received the Navy Commendation Medal. After his retirement he spent his time helping others, especially other veterans. He was active in organizing the Shiloh Crossroads Chapel after the original church burned and enjoyed the outdoors. He was also a life member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans.
Gardner is survived by his children: Jeff and wife Kim Bittle of Greers Ferry, and daughter Brenda Bittle of Batesville; grandchildren Joshua and Jennifer Bittle, Whitney and Kaylee England, all of Greers Ferry; sisters Dorothea Terranova, Jane McNeace, Mae Barnum, and Fran Corsha.
Mr. Bittle is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Phillips Bittle and a brother, William (Bill) Bittle.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Family Funeral Service in Heber Springs. Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Brownsville Baptist Church with Brother Jerry Cothren officiating. Burial was in the Brownsville cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Brownsville Baptist Church.

Laverne Shipp
Laverne Whitworth Shipp of Richland, Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, seven days prior to her 94th birthday.
She was a former resident of Clinton, Arkansas, born Sept. 6, 1920, to John H. and Ester Burns Whitworth of Culpepper Mountain community in Van Buren County near Clinton, Arkansas. She attended Culpepper grade school and graduated from Clinton Vocational High School.
In January 1941 she married her best friend and love of her life Jack L. Shipp. Residing in California during WWII they returned with their infant son to their Culpepper home in 1947. She was saddened at the death of her husband from cancer in 1964.
Laverne worked with special needs children at the Arkansas Human Development Center in Conway, Arkansas, until retirement.
She moved to Richland, Washington, in 1988 to be near her son Dr. Bill Shipp, daughter-in-law Linda and their children Jennifer and John. Laverne found true happiness watching her grandchildren grow and mature to adulthood. She loved and cherished her special great-grandson Mason.
Laverne was a Christian of the Church of Christ faith. She leaves family and friends who remember her kindness to everyone she knew.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack L. Shipp, parents John and Ester Whitworth, sister Dortha Theberge and brother-in-law Henry Theberge. She is survived by her son Dr. Bill Shipp and wife Linda Jacobs Shipp of Richland, Washington; granddaughter and husband Jennifer and Matthew Miles of Havre, Montana, grandson John Michael Shipp of Eureka, Montana; great-grandson Mason Hunter Shipp of Richland, Washington; and two sisters Marie Whitworth Bowling of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Jerry Kidd and brother-in-law Jim Kidd of Rogers, Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Surviving ones will miss her, she will always be a part of their lives.
Cremation was arranged by a Richland, Washington, funeral home. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Her final resting place will be Culpepper Mountain cemetery on Highway 336 in Clinton, Arkansas.
