Vaneta May Hurley

65 a resident of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away September 22, 2009 in Springdale. She was born May 23, 1943 at Lincoln, Arkansas, the daughter of Luke B. and Alma Gordan Hurley.

Survivors include one sister, Juanita Gearheart of Bullard, Texas.

Interment was in the National cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Arlene R. Maddox

72, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord, August 12, 2009 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born July 18, 1937 in Miami, Florida, the daughter of Harry and Wilda Hannam Burberry.

She was a faithful member and former staff member of the First Baptist Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by one son, Keith Maddox; Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Douglas Maddox of the home; five children, Kathy Zaloudek of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mike Morgan and Steven Maddox both of Asheville, North Carolina, Shirley Burton and her husband, John of Orlando, Florida and Linda Dudley and her husband, John of Maui, Hawaii; one daughter in law, Deborah Maddox of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Dorothy Bethel and her husband, George of Chattanooga, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, Josh, Jon and his wife, Heather, Tiffany, Courtney , Sydney, Alexander, Christian, Kasen, Luke, David and Farron; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Jasmine.

Janna Glennis Rice Powell

45, a resident of Johnson, Arkansas, passed away September 6, 2009 at her home in Johnson. She was born December 7, 1963 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the daughter of Marvin and Janice Ann Calvert Rice.

Janna was a member of the United Methodist Church of Prairie Grove, and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Powell of Jupiter, Florida; three daughters, Leann Renae Cook and husband Andrew of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Stephanie Jana Higby of Elkins, Arkansas, and Adrianne Michale Powell of the home; Her Mother and Father of Farmington, Arkansas; one brother, Vance Rice of Farmington, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Corey Cook, Joseph Cook, and Olivia Cook.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Janna G. Powell Memorial Fund in care of any Arvest Bank account# 0020643418.

Otto William Bressler

83, a resident of Strickler, Arkansas went to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born January 20, 1926 in Evergreen, Minnesota, the son of Christ and Caroline Alexander Bressler.

Otto was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a volunteer at the Life Ministries Food Bank.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gayle A. Bressler of the home; three sons, Allen W. Bressler of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Paul W. Bressler of Rogers, Arkansas and Karl J. Bressler of Collinsville, Oklahoma; three daughters, Julie G. Remington of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Becky M. Grille of West Fork, Arkansas and Amy J. Chanthaphon of California; one brother, Gene Dickerson of Bakersfield, California; one sister, Lorraine Belz of Paramount, California; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 - 2:00 P.M. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas with Gordon Smith officiating.

Family ask in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Peace Lutheran Church 800 West Bush Street Prairie Grove, Arkansas 72753 or Life Ministries P.O. Box 536 Prairie Grove, Arkansas 72753.

Sam Anderson Moses

Samuel Anderson Moses of Ramona, Oklahoma passed away on September 14, 2009. He was bornon February 12, 1937 to Clarence and Grace Moses, who were natives of Natural Dam, Arkansas. Both his parents preceded him death. He also had three sisters that preceded him in death; Lula Bolster of Natural Dam, Arkansas; Oma Jones of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; and Ruth Hyatt of Cedarville, Arkansas.

Sam retired from Westco International Insulation Company of which he was employed for about 35 years. In addition to being a member of the local carpenters' union 943 and he held various other jobs related to carpentry.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loyce Moses of Ramona, Oklahoma where they have lived for the past 17 years. Two sons: Darrell and wife Diane Moses of Ochelata, Oklahoma; Doyle and wife Amelia Moses of Ramona, Oklahoma. Four daughters: Sandra and husband Paul Pace of Lincoln, Arkansas; Rose and husband Duane Kirk of Ramona, Oklahoma; Linda Tatum of Ochelata, Oklahoma; and Darlene and husband Tom Hatfield of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Four grandsons, eight graddaughters, one great grandson, and seven great granddaughters. One sister and her husband, Florence and Cecil Fredrick of Farmington, Arkansas, one brother and his wife, Jesse and Jane Moses of Cedarville; and several other extended family members.

Johnny Lee Key

Johnny Lee Key of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, formally from Buena Park, California lost his courageous battle with cancer on July 1, 2009. John was amongst his large family and many friends in the days preceding his death.

John was born to Robert and Lois Key-Cordell on October 22, 1947, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He moved to California in 1959. He moved back to Arkansas in 2007.

John is survived by Jan, his wife of 32 years. Also survived by children: daughter Denise, and sons Jeffrey, Scott and Matthew; his parents, Lois and Bill Cordell. He has many siblings: Brothers: Robert (preceded in death), Tim, Rex, Mike and Rick. Sisters: Darlene, Robbie and Kathy. John has 5 grandchildren: Amanda, Jacob, Joshua, Wesley, & Brandon, and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A service in his honor will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 4:00PM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home, 115 N. Neal, Prairie Grove.

A second services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - 3:00 p.m. at the El Toro Memorial Park - 25751 Trabuco Rd. - Lake Forest, California.

Opal Young Slaughter

86, a resident of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away August 9, 2009 at Fayetteville City Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born January 24, 1923 in Dutch Mills, Arkansas, the daughter of William Johnson and Zula B. McCarty Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Thomas Calvin Young.

Survivors include three sons, Tommy A. Slaugther and his wife Mara of Rogers, Arkansas, William Jack Slaughter and his wife Martha, of Georgetown, Arkansas, and Alan Slaughter of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one brother,Alvin W. Young of Fayetteville, Arkansas; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 9:00 A.M. at the Dutch Mills cemetery Pavilion in Dutch Mills, Arkansas, with burial in Dutch Mills cemetery in Dutch Mills, Arkansas

Memorials may be made to the Fayetteville City Hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 1743 Fayetteville, Arkansas 72702.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

Margaret Eoline Boardman

91, a resident of Lincoln, Arkansas, passed away August 7, 2009 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born July 29, 1918 at Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Glen and Jesse Margaret Wallace Thompson.

Margaret was married to Fred Boardman for fifty-nine years. Margaret was a professional Interior Decorator for twenty years for Montgomery Wards, Sears, and later the co-owner of Artistic Interiors of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. During her free time she perfected her skills as an amateur golfer for more than fifty years. She competed in numerous golf tournaments in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Mexico. Her competitive spirit also led her to be an accomplished card player. She enjoyed bridge tournaments and high-spirited card sessions with family and friends. Margaret also enjoyed photography, gardening and world traveling. She had extensive gardens on her property for years, and she has visited every continent in the world except Antarctica.

Survivors include one son, Rick Boardman of Tyler, Texas and one daughter, Vicki Smith of Lincoln, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Fredrick Glenn Smith, Sarah Jo Eoline Doughty, Meredith Gail Boardman, and Benjamin Charles Boardman; six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Luginbuel Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 10, 2009 - 6:30 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel Prairie Grove, Arkansas, with Vance Eubanks officiating. No graveside services will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
