Freddie Griggs
Mr. Freddie Griggs, age 82, of Dexter, Mo. and formerly of Hughes, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Mr. Griggs was a member of the American Legion and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Griggs and a son, Neville Lewis Griggs. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Labrot of Dexter, Mo.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Griggs will be Friday, July 19, 2002 from 9 to 12 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Services will be held graveside Friday, July 19, 2002 at Marianna Memorial Park Cemetery at 2 p.m. The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Larry G. Newton
Mr. Larry G. Newton, age 59, of Moro, died Sunday, June 30, 2002 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Newton was born Dec. 31, 1943 in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Arthur E. Newton and Edith Elizabeth Jenkins Newton. He lived in this area most of his life and was a truck driver.
Mr. Newton married Tammy Jean McClendon in 1985 and she survives him along with four sons, Rodney Newton, Robert Newton, Darron Newton and Robert Newton and six daughters, Tammy Bottoms, Angie Newton, Kimberly Cantrell, Jennifer Cantrell, Holly Newton and Christy Newton.
Funeral services for Mr. Newton will be held graveside on Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Cemetery in Gill. Under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Odessa Cline
Mrs. Odessa Cline, age 95, of Marianna, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Marianna.
Mrs. Cline was born May 12, 1907, in Independence, Miss., the daughter of Aubrey Henderson and Pearl Dean Carpenter Henderson. She was a retired seamstress and a Baptist.
Mrs. Cline is survived by a son, Jim Cline of Redfield; three daughters, Pat Wilson and Marsha Bradshaw both of Marianna, and Rita Johnson of Forrest City; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cline were held Saturday, July 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Chapel with Rev. James Hinkle and Rev. Gene Craig officiating. Burial followed in Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Scott Lee Byrd
Mr. Scott Lee Byrd, age 37, of Arlington, Texas died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at his parents home in Arlington, Texas.
Mr. Byrd is survived by both his parents, Lester Morgan and June Coker Byrd, and one brother, Jeff Byrd of California.
Visitation for Mr. Byrd will be held Thursday, July 25, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Services will be held Friday, July 26, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Salem Methodist Church near Palestine with burial following at the Salem Cemetery, under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

Virgle L. Davis
Mrs. Virgle L. Davis, age 90, of Forrest City, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.
Mrs. Davis, born Sept. 20, 1911, in Tuckerman, was the daughter of Raymond Williams and Sadie Templeton Williams. She made her home in Forrest City for most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of Lindauer Road Church of Christ.
In 1930 Mrs. Davis married Gibson Fisher Davis and he preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Taylor of Forrest City and Stella Maye Hancock of Piggott; three sons, William Davis of Jonesboro, Danny Davis of Forrest City and Ray Davis of Columbia, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mrs. Davis were held Monday, July 22, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis were held Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home Bro. Worley Ferguson officiating. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at Arnold Cemetery near Swifton. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be sent to Paragould Children's Home.

Cody Lee Hoselton Sr.
Mr. Cody Lee Hoselton Sr., age 79, of Marianna, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Forrest City.
Mr. Hoselton, born June 21, 1923, in Cody, was the son of Henry Hoselton and Ruth Swazie Hoselton. He was a carpenter and a Jehovah's Witness by faith.
Mr. Hoselton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Hoselton of Brickeys; a son, Cody Hoselton Jr., of Brickeys; three daughters, Louise Creekmore of Carlisle, Ruthie Fisher of Shreveport, La., and Catha Williams of Fort Smith; two brothers, Cordy Hoselton of Maple Valley, Wash., and Henry Hoselton of Wynne; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Lyn Buchanan and Jimmy Buchanan.
A memorial service for Mr. Hoselton will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Roller Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna with Rev. Tony Williams officiating.

Rader Era Lee
Mrs. Rader Era Lee, age 93, of Caldwell died Monday, July 22, 2002 at Cross Ridge Hospital in Wynne.
Mrs. Lee was born Oct. 18, 1908, the daughter of James E. Williams and Nora Subetha Williams. Mrs. Lee was a housewife and member of the Christian Church.
Mrs. Lee is survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Lee will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Morgan Chapel with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery, under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

Charles Edward Stoker
Mr. Charles Edward Stoker, age 75, of Memphis, died Monday, July 22, 2002 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Stoker was a manufacturing representative, veteran of World War II, member of the VFW Post 1, Optimist Club, Gavel Club and a life-long member of Memphis Home Furnishings.
Mr. Stoker is survived by his wife, Mary Stoker; one daughter, Sandra Burke of Forrest City; one brother, Joseph Stoker of Palmersville, Tenn.; and one grandchild.
Services for Mr. Stoker will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Midtown Chapel in Memphis with burial following in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery, under the direction of Forest Hill Midtown Funeral Home in Memphis.
The family requests memorials be made to the Christian Heritage Church.

Linda Ann Webb
Mrs. Linda Ann Webb, age 54, of Forrest City died Saturday, July 20, 2002. Mrs. Webb was a former bookkeeper for Baptist Memorial Hospital and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Webb was born Dec. 23, 1947 to Lloyd Wilson and Reba Mullins Wilson. Mrs. Webb is survived by one son, Michael Boles of the home.
Visitation for Mrs. Webb was held Monday, July 22, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery with Bro. James Dean officiating, under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

Marke'uana Mo'nae Murry
Infant Marke'uana Mo'nae Murry, died Sunday, July 21, 2002.
Murry was the daughter of Arkeia Mays and Willis Murry of Parkin, who survive her. She is also survived by a brother, Markia Murry; grandparents, Brenda and Larry Smith of Parkin and Elaine and Willie James Murry, also of Parkin; great-grandmother Rosetta Townsend; great-great grandmother Pearl Robinson and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Graveside funeral services for Marke'uana Murry were held Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Stanley Grove Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Hurley V. Turner
Mr. Hurley V. Turner, age 82, of Colt, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Turner was a retired truck driver and a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife, Gernice Turner of Colt; eight sons, Ewell V. Turner and Tracy Turner both of Colt, George Turner of Wynne, Dennis Turner, Thurston Turner, Lee Turner, Gerald Turner and Hurley D. Turner all of Little Rock; five daughters, Mae Frances Hugher, Alfreda Rice and Charlene Gilkey all of Little Rock, Teressa Rogers and Patricia Turner both of Colt; one brother, Herbert Turner of Magnolia; three sisters, Arvella Love and Sallie Magby both of Colt, Hazel Robinson of Detroit, Mich.; 31 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Turner will be held Friday, July 26, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne. Funeral services for Mr. Turner will be held Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Moore Chapel C. M. E. Church in Colt at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery in Colt, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
