Carmen Renea Cook
Carmen Renea Cook, infant daughter of Jody and Mandy Palton Cook of Palestine, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the Med in Memphis.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1999, and is survived by a paternal grandmother, Doris Cook of Palestine; maternal grandmother, Robin Palton of Forrest City; a brother, Caleb Cook and a sister, Morgan Cook, both of Palestine.
Graveside services were held on Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Bell Cemetery in Palestine with Bro. Lee Whitley officiating and Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Merl Christine Thornton Rodgers
Merl Christine Thornton Rodgers, 82, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Baptist Central Hospital, in Memphis.
Mrs. Rodgers was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Pine Valley, Miss. Mrs. Rodgers lived in Memphis before moving to Forrest City. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Rodgers in 1997 and her daughter, Elizabeth Rodgers Dobell.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Rodgers Jr. of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Donald Rodgers of Hampton, Va.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Steven's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Memory Hill Gardens in Memphis.

Beatrice Brown
Beatrice Brown, 73, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mrs. Brown retired from the Dietitian Department at Crestpark Nursing Home after 20 years of service.
She was preceded in death by he husband, Sylvester Brown, Sr. in 1997.
Mrs. Brown is survived by five daughters, Louise Brown and Joyee Cottrell both of Chicago, Ill., Eva Parks of Los Angeles, Calif., Elnora Blount of Madison and Mamie Hines of Haynes; five sons, Sylvester Brown Jr. of Los Angeles Calif., Rev. Micheal Brown of Brinkley, Roy Brown of Millington, Tenn., James Brown of Rockford Ill. and Paul Brown of Forrest City; two sisters, Dasisy McKinney and Julia Brown both of Forrest City; three brothers, Ernest Templeton of Tulsa, Okla., Sammie Templeton of Flint, Mich. and Herman Templeton of Battle Creek, Mich.; 46 grandchildren and 90 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Chapel. Services will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at Day's Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Bishop J.H. Jennings and Bishop Willie B. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Thomas Culler
Thomas Culler, 83, of Forrest City, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Culler was a retired Forrest City School Plumber of 16 years.
He is survived by his wife Florida Culler of Forrest City; three daughters, Evern Culler and Ellen Brown both of Forrest City and Elaine Coleman of Dallas, Texas and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 3, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Chapel with a wake to follow from 6 to 7 p.m. Services will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. S.W. Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Fletcher Gregsby Chrisco
Fletcher Gregsby Chrisco, 90, of Conway, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at the Heritage Center in Conway.
Mr. Chrisco was born Jan. 19, 1909, in Wynne to Urie Franklin Chrisco and Annie Gilbert Chrisco. He lived in Cross County until 1995 when he moved to Conway. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Mae Gowen Chrisco.
Mr. Chrisco is survived by two daughters, Frances Head of Conway and Catherine Pickett of Little Rock; a sister, Mable Griffin of Colt; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday at Kernodle Funeral Home. Services were today, Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Kernodle Funeral Home. Burial followed at Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne. Memorials may be made to The Park Place Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Willie Wade Barksdale
Willie Wade Barksdale, 80, of Forrest City, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at Baptist Central in Memphis.
Mr. Barksdale was born April 23, 1919, to Thomas Arthur Barksdale and Addie Georgia Ragsdale Barksdale. He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army and also retired from Eaton Corp., in Forrest City. He was a member of the Forrest City Masonic Lodge #198, he was a 32nd degree of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a member of the Sahara Temple in Pine Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Barksdale of Forrest City; a son, William "Willie" Barksdale of Marion; four daughters, Judy Hunt of Wynne, Madonna Smith and Clara Harland both of Forrest City and Melodi Betts of Hickory Ridge; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were today, Dec. 22, 1999, at Morgan Chapel with Bro. O'Neal Nesler and Bro. John Threat officiating. A private burial will be held later. Arrangements were made by Morgan Funeral Home.

James Edward Dice
Mr. James Edward Dice, aged 85, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Dec., 22, 1999.
He was born Oct. 24, 1914. Mr. Dice was a businessman, and was a member of the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers and was a charter member of the Mid-East Arkansas National Association of Home Builders. At one time he was the oldest active real estate appraiser in the state. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Forrest City, and a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Dice is survived by his wife, Mable Parker dice; two daughters, Lana Diane Van Giesen and Jan Dice, both of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Judy Mullenix of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services are pending. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lola Mae Castling Dooley
Lola Mae Castling Dooley, 90, of Memphis, formerly of Marianna, died Dec. 22, 1999, at her daughter's home.
Mrs. Dooley was born in Magazine and was the daughter of Fred Castling and Eunice Robertson Castling. She attended Draughon's School of Business, was an employee of First National Bank of Marianna and was "Miss Marianna" in 1930. She lived in Marianna for 56 years before moving to Memphis and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marianna.
She was preceded in death be her husband, Gaither Dooley.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Avery of Memphis; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at Forrest Park Cemetery at 3 p.m., under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Lois Yvonne Watson Taegtmeyer
Lois Yvonne Watson Taegtmeyer, 72, of Wynne, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne.
Mrs. Taegtmeyer was a retired food service employee and a member of the Valley Missionary Baptist church in Wynne.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Taegtmeyer and James Taegtmeyer both of Wynne; two daughters, Marvine Gail Lucas of Parkin and Deborah Bohannon of Forrest City; two brothers, Ben Watson of Cherry Valley and Ed Watson of Wynne; two sisters, Edna Biggadike and Doris Merrell both of Wynne; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Bro. Jimmy Peeler and Bro. Charles Brien officiating. Burial will be at McElroy Cemetery of Wynne under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Valley View Missionary Baptist Church in Wynne.
