THOMPSON, Norman Joseph, 67, of Tucson, passed away November 19, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Marianne; sons, Gregory J. (Susan K.) Thompson of Tucson; Stephen G. (Janet) Thompson of North Carolina; brother, Frank L. (Margaret) Thompson of Kansas; sister, Mary Blanc of Florida; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathaniel Thompson of Tucson and Rebecca Thompson of North Carolina. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call on Monday, November 22, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. MARY R. VINGINO, 62, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away November 19, 1999. preceded in death by brother, George F. Romo. Survived by loving husband, Don Vingino; parents, Gregorio G. and Margaret F. Romo; sons, Armando R. and Ernie R. Norzagaray; sisters, Josephine F. Romo, Margaret R. Martinez Carrillo and Annie R. Alvarez; daughter-in-law, Ann Norzagaray; granddaughters, Vanessa, Arica C., Emilie and Addie Norzagaray; mother and father-in-law, Nora and Wiley W. Morris; stepsons, Ronald, Gene and Roger Vingino; stepdaughter, Donna Vingino; good friend, Frances Chavarria. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Mary retired after 30 years at the Pima County Juvenile Court Center as a Detention Supervisor. She was a graduate of Pueblo High School and received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Phoenix. She was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of N.A., Oasis Court No. 75. A member of the Diocese of St. Augustine's Cathedral. She also was a teacher at the Catholic Education Center. She was very active with Boy Scouts as a Den Mother for 10 years.
Mary's family and friends would like to thank Carondelet St. Mary's Hospice for their wonderful care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary R. Vingino Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Branch. The fund will be given to Carondelet Hospice Service, St. Mary's.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. BROWN, Martha Jenny 'Jen' 60, of Tucson, died November 21, 1999. She is survived by husband, Elbert W. Brown, Jr. of Tucson; daughters, Jennifer Spude of Chino Valley, AZ, Jennean Hurley of Marana; sons, Robert W. Brown, Sr. of Sahuarita and Bill Brown of Harrison, AR; brothers, Theodore Gardiner of Black Canyon City, AZ and Ray Gardiner of Phoenix; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Pastor Bill Wright, Northwest Community Church officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY. MELVIN HARVEY DAHLER, 74, of Tucson, AZ, died at 7:30 a.m., Monday, November 22, 1999 at Desert Life Rehabilitation & Care Center, Tucson, AZ. He was born on November 25, 1924 in Montgomery Co., Illinois to Harvey G. and Alvera M. (Michelman) Dahler. Marvin was a shovel operator at the Silver Bell Copper Mine and later worked as a salesperson at hardware stores. He lived at rural Nokomis, IL until 1948; then moved to Arizona where he has resided for 51 years. Melvin married Betty Lou Keiser on August 18, 1951 at St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church, Ohlman, IL. He was a member of Casa Adobes Baptist Church, Tucson, AZ and Sunday School Class. He was a Boy Scout leader for over 10 years and a Sunday School teacher at the church in Silver Bell, AZ. He also belonged to the Tucson Sunny Sam's R.V. Club. Survivors include wife, Betty Dahler of Tucson, AZ; two sons, Wayne A. Dahler and special friend, Liz Dahl of Mill Valley, CA and Dennis C. (Jeanne) Dahler of Tucson, AZ; one daughter, Mrs. David (Janice K.) Pulley of Flagstaff, AZ; mother-in-law, Mrs. Genevieve Keiser of Nokomis, IL; two brothers, Harley (Bonnie) Dahler and Marion (Jeanne) Dahler, both of Nokomis, IL; sister, Mrs. Dennis (Irene) Graden of Hillsboro, IL; three grandchildren, Christopher A. Pulley, Michelle L. Pulley and Nathaniel G. Pulley, all of Flagstaff, AZ. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 N. FREDERICK HILL, of Tucson, Arizona, died Friday, November 19, 1999. preceded in death by father, Alfred Victor Hill. Survived by mother, Ruby Rasmussen Hill; wife, Marie Featherstone Hill; children, Sidney (Douglas) Rigby of Tucson; Suzanne (Bradley) Risk of Ruckersville, Virginia; Douglas (Charlene) Hill of Gilbert, Arizona; James H. Hill of Tucson; Roger (Kimberly) Hill of Tucson; and Michael Z. Hill of Tucson. Also 16 grandchildren: Thomas, Catherine, and Richard Rigby; Victoria, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Paul, and William Risk; Blake, Eryn, Jordan, Keaton, and Quentin Hill; and Alexander, Aubrey and Ryan Hill. Fred was born in Clark County, Nevada. He greatly loved the town of Boulder City, Nevada where he grew up and graduated from Boulder City High School. He continued his education at the University of Utah where he earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Fred was a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona for 35 years where he served on various committees, his favorite being the UofA Sports Committee. With Prof. Gerald Peterson, he co-authored three successful textbooks on digital and logical systems. In the 1970's he served on an international committee focused on standardizing computer hardware language. He has traveled and lectured in several counties around the world including Saudi Arabia, Iran and China. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-DaySaints last serving as High Priest Group Leader in the Wildwood Park Ward. He served on the Marana Unified School District Board for several terms between 1972 and 1988. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. A devoted member of the Wildcat Club he was a great fan of UofA basketball. As a volunteer, he coached youth basketball for several organizations including the YMCA and Mountain View HS. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Avenue (Magee) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23rd, 1999. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-DaySaints, Tucson West Stake Center, 3530 W. Magee Road on Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at 3:00 p.m., Bishop Ron Jeffries officiating. Viewing will be in the Relief Society Room from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the LDS cemetery on Alvernon Way, North of River Rd. KELLY, Joseph F., 93, of Tucson, died November 18, 1999. Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleonore; daughter, F. Mary (William) Fry of Flagstaff; sons, Michael (Josephine) Kelly, Edward Kelly, Thomas Kelly, all of Tucson; and six grandchildren. Joseph served in the Navy 30 years, and the Tucson Water Department for 12 years before retiring in 1967. A Rosary will be recited Friday, November 26 at 8:40 a.m. with Mass following at 9:00 a.m., both at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at AZ Veterans Memorial cemetery in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. Arrangements by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 327-6341.

LADD, Virginia L. 'Jinny', 69, died November 18, 1999. Mrs. Ladd, a Tucson resident since 1971, recently celebrated her 1000th hour of volunteer service as a docent at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. She was also very active in local amateur tennis, adding championship titles of both singles and doubles as well as playing in local league play for Quail Valley Tennis Club. Nature conservation, bird-watching, and multiple oar-powered raft trips down the Colorado were among Jinny's many interests. Originally from Plainfield, New Jersey, Jinny also lived in Maine, Virginia, Florida and England before calling Tucson home.
She and her husband of 44 years, Dr. Robert M. Ladd, raised four children, Bob (Tammie) of Tucson, J. Scott (Pat) of Winthrop, Maine, Bill of Atlanta, Georgia, and Betsy of Wayne, Maine. Jinny also leaves behind three grandchildren, Joshua, Breinne, and Samantha. Her brother Roger (Cam) lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Nature Conservancy and the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.
Jinny spent virtually every pre-dawn summer day paddling Wilson Pond in Wayne, Maine checking on the loons that inhabited the lake. A woman at peace in her favorite canoe is how she will be remembered. Arrangements by the Adair Funeral Home, (Dodge Chapel), at Speedway.

MALESKY, Phillip Joseph. The funeral for Phillip J. Malesky will be held six o'clock in the evening, Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road. Burial will be held ten o'clock in the morning, Friday, November 26, 1999 at East Lawn Palms cemetery. Phillip was 39, he was born January 21, 1960 in Niagara Falls, New York. He was a Technical Supporter Specialist at A.O.L. Survived by mother, Mariko Malesky; brother, George Malesky, and many beloved friends.

MORRELL, William F., 75, of Tucson. He was born September 15, 1924 in Waterbury, CT. He passed away November 21, 1999 in Tucson. He is survived by sister, Thelma Flanagan; nieces, Peggie Robb and Katie Stenson; nephews, William Lackey, Dennis Lackey and Thomas Lackey; stepson, William Stenson. He was loved by all of us very much and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd & Swan. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms cemetery.

NEUENSCHWANDER, Patrick Chris, 40, of Tucson, died November 19, 1999. Survived by wife, Pamela of Tucson; father, Norman Neuenschwander of MI; daughters, Kristie, Jamie and Stephanie Neuenschwander, all of MI; stepchildren, David, Dwight and Marie Vest, all of Tucson; brothers, Ron (Jean) of FL, Jay (Grace) of MN; sisters, Jan Blough and Teresa (John) Maynard, both of MI; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Neuenschwander served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved his music and touched many people with his voice and words of comfort. Services Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Pastor Jay Neuenschwander officiating. Interment Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

PASSWATERS, Helen Mae, 83, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Friend, passed away November 19, 1999 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City, Iowa on Saturday, November 27th.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Passwaters and her mother and father. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rick Van Langen of Tucson; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Brigitte Passwaters of Palm Harbor Florida and Chuck and Pam Passwaters of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Mavia Longstaff of Creston, Iowa. Her four loving grandchildren are Ryan and Wendee Van Langen of Tucson and Shane and Lindsay Passwaters of Crystal Lake.
Helen Mae Longstaff, daughter of Robert and Jenny Longstaff, was born January 1, 1916 in Lehigh, Iowa. She graduated from Lehigh High School in 1934 and the AIB School of Business in Des Moines in 1936. She married Donald Passwaters at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and the couple resided in Webster City for many years. Helen owned and operated her own real estate business in Webster City before retiring in 1985 and moving to Tucson to enjoy the Arizona weather and be closer to her daughter.
She was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church and an active volunteer in the Webster City, Iowa community.
She will be missed by her loved ones and her many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made in Helen's name to Hospice Family Care Inc., 1550 S. Alma School Rd., Mesa, Arizona 85210. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

SCHROETER, Jeffrey Charles, 43, died November 21, 1999. Husband of Teri Schroeter; brother of Theodore Schroeter of Tucson and Diane (Jerry) O'Neill of Amityville, New York; uncle of Ashleigh, Cassidi, Jillian, Kylene, Alessandra, Jesse and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Daphne Schroeter. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Memorial service 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations, in Jeffrey's name, be made to The Arizona Cancer Center, P.O. Box 245024, Tucson, Arizona 85724.

MANUEL M. F. VALDEZ, 34, of Tucson, passed away on November 19, 1999. Survivors include his parents, Manuel G. and Francisca Valdez; one sister, Lupe Gutierrez; nieces, Diana and Tiffany; nephew, David; fiancee, Melissa Brasher; plus many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Tuesday, November 23 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Monicas Catholic Church, Wednesday, November 24 at noon. Interment to follow at South Lawn cemetery.

WYNNE, Odeen - Funeral services for Odeen Wynne, age 87, of Thatcher, AZ, formerly of Tucson will be conducted Wednesday, November 24th at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at Ft. Lowell and Dodge in Tucson.
Odeen grew up in and made her home in Tucson. She married Marion Wynne, August 17, 1940 in Nogales, AZ. Odeen and her husband worked in the Los Angeles, California Temple for nearly seven years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her husband, Marion of Thatcher; a daughter, Vicki Herman of Florida; two sons, Don Wynne of Thatcher, AZ and Wilbert Wynne of Tucson; a sister, May Hickman of Ft. Collins, CO; two brothers, Bill Young of Tucson and Ronal Young of Colorado; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.
Friends may gather Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Home in Safford, AZ and one hour prior to service time at the church.
Complete arrangements for Odeen Wynne are under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Home, in Safford, AZ.

ANTHONY G. ALTAMIRANO - Born on September 29, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona, age 41, left to be with our Lord on November 21, 1999, resulting from complications from a motorcycle accident on May 3, 1997. He is survived by his loving wife, M. Florie Altamirano and seven children, Tina R., Erika C., Sarah M., Anthony G. Jr., Jenny A., Mercedes T. and Brianna A. Altamirano; parents, Gabino G. and Mercedes V. Altamirano; parents-in-law, Thomas and Socorro Ramirez. Tony loved his family, his children are a replica of him. Brianna, the light and life of his eyes and heart. May there be peace among all of those who are suffering from his loss and may they find it in their hearts to forgive. Anthony was a special person to the lives he touched, he will be tremendously missed by his family and friends, as he had many. As he shines down on us from Heaven, may God bless him and keep him at his side watching over us all who loved him. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, Inc., South Chapel, 240 S. HOPE HOWARD AQUINO
Rest In Peace Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend
passed away Sunday, November 21, 1999. A Tucson native, born on December 23, 1945, peacefully passed into the hands of the Lord in the presence of her family and friends. Survived by husband, Jaime 'Jim' Aquino; children, Cecilia (Larry) Aguirre, Roxanne (Ralph) Aquino-Fiecoat, James A. Aquino, Alicia A. Aquino; brothers, Frank Howard, Jr., Gilbert B. Howard; sister, Rosalie (Eddie) Samorano. Also survived by five grandchildren. Hope was loved and will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Frank J. and Alicia Howard, Sr.; brothers, Carlos B. Howard, Henry B. Howard and sister, Cecilia Contreras. One of God's angels retuning to His Kingdom. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 25, 1999 from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS. Service will be on Friday, November 26, 1999 at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS, 2580 S. 6th Ave. Burial will follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
