CUPPE, Lillian Howard, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2000, with the same pride and dignity that was so characteristic of her. Our loss is heaven's gain. Lillian was born to Byron Hamilton Howard and Elizabeth Mary Howard on March 7, 1921 in Elida, New Mexico. Lillian married her husband, Donald O. Cuppe in 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brother and half brother, step brother, step sister, and step mother. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and Suzanne M. Cuppe; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy S. and Robert Sullivan, all of Tucson. Lillian has seven wonderful grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She has many nieces and nephews.
To begin to name names of those who dearly loved Lillian and whom she loved would be a monumental undertaking. However, there is one lady in particular who not only provided professional care to Lillian but returned to Lillian the love, compassion and sincerity that Lillian herself gave so easily. C. McKnight is also listed here as one of the survivors who realizes a great loss.
In her life, she was an incredible example of kindness. Lillian had a tremendous impact on those of us who knew, loved and respected her. Private services were held on June 29, 2000 for the immediate family.

GREENLEAF, Agnes Mae (Haynes), age 82, of Ionia, Michigan; Worthington, Ohio; and Tucson, Arizona left to be with her Lord on June 27, 2000, in Avon, Ohio after long years of service to her family, to her church and to the agricultural industry she loved. She was born on August 31, 1917 in Ionia, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Jeanette (Holcomb) Haynes. After graduating from Ionia High School in 1935, she attended County Normal at East Tawas, Michigan, graduating with a teaching certificate. Agnes taught for six year (1936 to 1941) in several rural one-room schools in Ionia County before the raising of three children and the care of a husband took precedent in her life. She worked in a factory during World War II; and when her husband, George Greenleaf, returned from service overseas she moved with him to Richmond and in 1949 to Lansing, Michigan. With three children in school, she was President of the Willow Street Parent-Teacher Association in 1954 in Lansing and was an active leader in the state association. Agnes was also active with her daughters in Eastern Star. Raised in the Ionia Church of Christ (Disciples), she was always an active member in the churches where her family resided, usually teaching Bible School in the primary grades as well as giving leadership in the Women's Society. She loved young people and she loved to teach. Her mother, Jeanette Haynes came to live with the family in 1947; then in 1951, her other mother, Alcie (Garrett) Greenleaf joined the family as well. She managed the family resources, including the mothers, and a loving, closeknit family of seven prospered under her adept leadership. In 1959, Agnes and her family moved from her native state to Worthington, Ohio so that her husband, George Greenleaf, could take advantage of employment with the Ohio Grain & Feed Association. She was a close supporter of her husband and his educational work – serving as his volunteer assistant to the 800 members for twenty-five years. Agnes Greenleaf also was an active, interested traveler. First, with her family, in annual camping expeditions that in 35 years visited about all of the 50 states along with parts of Canada and Mexico. In the 1970's and 80's she joined her husband in several trips overseas, including extended stays in the Soviet Union, Australia and New Zealand, as well as tours to China, Japan, Korea and Thailand. Her most exciting travel was the 'round the world' trip in 1986, where she visited Hong Kong, Singapore, Nepal, and the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, Turkey and Greece. She has spent the past eleven years at her home in the Park West Estates in Tucson, Arizona and was brought back to Ohio in April of 2000 by her son for the comfort of her daughter's home in North Ridgeville. The past three weeks have been spent in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon, Ohio where she died. She leaves behind, her husband of 58 years, George; a son, Gary Greenleaf; daughters, Lois Halsted and Jeane Bungard; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Agnes's life later this year in Arizona and also at the Worthington United Methodist Church. Because of her love of education and travel the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Greenleaf's Bailey Scholars Enrichment Program per the College of Agriculture Development Office, Agricultural Hall, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI 48824. Arrangements were handled by the Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria, Ohio.
