George Richard Billingham
George Richard Billingham died Thursday May 17, 2001 in Kingman. He was 84. Mr. Billingham was born June 24, 1916 in Utica, N.Y. He was a foreman in the transportation field, member of Teamsters Union Local No. 222 in Salt Lake City, and a fireman with the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Fire Department. Mr. Billingham is survived by: his wife, Thelma Billingham of Kingman; two sons, Richard E. Billingham of Redding, Calif. and George Ross Billingham of Tucson, Calif.; one sister, Jeannette Artese of Payson, Utah; one brother, Charles A. Billingham of Commerce City, Utah; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, one daughter and two grandsons preceded him in death. No service is planned. Sutton Crematory is handling cremation.

Loren Gearhart
Loren Gearhart died Thursday May 17, 2001 in Kingman. He was 77. Mr. Gearhart was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Englewood, Colo. and came to Kingman from Denver in 1990. He owned Dish Satellite, served in the United States Army and won a Bronze Star in World War II, and was a member of Elks, Eagles, Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gearhart is survived by: his wife, Iona Gearhart of Kingman; two daughters, Kathy Acre of Sacramento, Calif., and Karen Witte of Kewanee, Ill.; two sons, Dwayne Gearhart of Fort Collins, Colo. and Gerald Gearhart of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces. His parents, four sisters, one brother and one grandson preceded him in death. A memorial service for Mr. Gearhart is planned at 2 p.m. today at Manzanita Baptist Church.

Delbert Havatone
Delbert Havatone died Friday May 18, 2001 in Peach Springs. He was 71. Mr. Havatone was born Jan. 22, 1930 in Valentine. He was a tribal leader for the Hualapai Indian Reservation, serving 15 years as chairman. Mr. Havatone is survived by: seven daughters, Donnita Selana, Drusilla Clarke, Debbie Goldenstein, Christy Case, Sharon Whatoname, Ezelda Havatone and Pamela Havatone, all of Peach Springs; one son, Drake Havatone of Peach Springs; two sisters, Vivian Duwyenie of Peach Springs and Abigail Russell of Fountain Hills; 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Havatone will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday May 22, 2001 in the Tribal Gym in Peach Springs. A funeral service will be conducted in the same location at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 23, 2001 to be followed by burial in Valentine. Sutton Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Herman Clarence Shores
Herman Clarence Shores died Thursday May 17, 2001, in Kingman. He was 77. Mr. Shores was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Mulkey, Okla. He was self-employed in the service station business from 1963 until his retirement in 1980; he was in business in the Kingman area since 1972. Mr. Shores is survived by: his wife Dolores (Dustin) Shores of Kingman; two sons, Charles Shores of Kingman and James shores of Phoenix; two daughters, Linda Benefield and Rosemary Campbell, both of Mesa; two sisters, Helen Ausmus of Crosbyton, Texas, and Elsie Gramich of Calamesa, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren. One son, Donald Shores, preceded him in death. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday May 21, 2001, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the same location with Pastor Dan Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Gene Foreman
Gene Foreman died Wednesday May 16, 2001, in Kingman. He was 75. Mr. Foreman was born June 15, 1925, in Tulsa, Okla. He was self-employed as a vinyl siding contractor. He served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Foreman is survived by: one sister, Wanda Childs of Kingman; and many nieces and nephews. His wife Zola Foreman preceded him in death in 1997. Private services will be held at a later date. Sutton Crematory will handle cremation.

Marilyn Sue Kinsey
Marilyn Sue Kinsey died Thursday May 10, 2001, in Kingman. She was 65. Mrs. Kinsey was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Marietta, Ohio. She moved to Kingman 49 years ago from Ohio. Mrs. Kinsey worked at Denny's for over 20 years before her retirement in 1998. She was a member of Kingman Christian Church. Mrs. Kinsey is survived by: three sons, Bill Kinsey Jr. of Kingman, David Kinsey of Kingman and Phillip Kinsey of Phoenix; one daughter, Crystel Baxter of Kingman; one brother, Ken Hanna of Kingman; two sisters, Judy Browne of Texas and Karen Gerleman of Tucson; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2001. Memorial donations may be made to Kingman Cancer Care, P.O. Box 561, Kingman Ariz., 86402.

William Douglas Clark
William Douglas Clark died Saturday May 12, 2001, in Kingman. He was 78. Mr. Clark was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Savannah, Ga. He worked for 32 years as a pipe fitter in the construction industry. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Clark was a member of College Park Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 79, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10386, American Legion No. 14, the Shrine temple in Boise, Idaho, Eagles Lodge in Kingman and Moose Lodge in Bullhead City. Mr. Clark is survived by: his wife, Mildred Almeta (McCawley) Clark; one son, Douglas A. Clark of Simi Valley, Calif.; a stepson, Charles H. Lee Sr. of Kingman; one daughter, Shirley E. Higgins of Sacramento, Calif., a stepdaughter, Margie Kierstein of Arcadia, Calif.; one stepbrother, Fred Zaeske of Rogers, Ark.; two stepsisters, Carolyn Mathers of Georgia and Jerry Rollins of Gardenville, Nev.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday May 19, 2001, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the same location with Pastor Bill Archer officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.

James C. Carter
James C. Carter died Tuesday May 15, 2001, in Kingman. He was 77. Mr. Carter was born march 9, 1924, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was self-employed in the automotive industry and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Carter is survived by: one daughter, Carol Smith of Glendora, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Venona B. Carter, preceded him in death in 1985. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday may 18, 2001, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina, Calif. Desert View Funeral Chapel in Kingman is handling funeral arrangements.

Kenneth O. Schergen
Kenneth O. Schergen died Tuesday May 1, 2001, in Kingman. He was 77. Mr. Schergen was born Sept. 21, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo. He worked for Honeywell for 30 years and served in the U.S. military during World War II. Mr. Schergen is survived by: one daughter, Karren Roberts of Maple Valley, Wash.; and two grandsons.

Lynn Joseph 'Pete' Peterson
Lynn Joseph "Pete" Peterson died Wednesday May 9, 2001, in Kingman. He was 70. Mr. Peterson was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Deming, N.M. He moved to Arizona in 1946, from Mexico. Mr. Peterson served in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant in the Korea and Vietnam conflicts. He received the Distinguished Service Medal. He worked in military communications. Mr. Peterson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3516. Mr. Peterson is survived by: his wife, Dottie (Smith) Peterson; five daughters, Cheri Cox of Dover, Del., Cindy Moser, Debra Enright, Jeanette Cook and Marsh Neeley, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Harris of Tupelo, Miss., and Sara Criddle of Crenshaw, Miss.; one stepson, David Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one sister, Lela Tagalakis of Phoenix; mother Leona Peterson of Kingman; one brother, Loyd Peterson of Kingman; 27 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Donna Peterson. A memorial service was held Saturday May 12, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Jim Brown officiated. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout troop No. 19 in Kingman, Arizona Golf League or VFW Post No. 3516.
