Charles Dennis Ward, 46, of Yuma, died Feb. 18, 2000, at his residence.

Born Feb. 21, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a construction worker.

Evelyn Joyce Myers

Evelyn Joyce Myers, 74, of Yuma died Feb. 18, 2000, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 5, 1925, in Turpin, Okla., she was a retired bookkeeper.

Marie Wilhelmina Schwenka

Marie Wilhelmina Schwenka, 97, of Yuma died Feb. 22, 2000, at Yuma Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 11, 1903, in Holstein, Neb., she was a retired homemaker and cooking school assistant.

Hubert Lawrence Webb

Hubert Lawrence Web, 78, of Yuma died Feb. 20, 2000, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 15, 1921, in Kingsport, Tenn., he was a retired civil service aircraft mechanic.

Glenn Jacobs

Glenn Jacobs, 59, of Yuma died Feb. 20, 2000, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Born March 10, 1940, in Watertown, Tenn., he was a fuel truck driver.

William L. Snider

William L. Snider, 74, of Yuma died Feb. 21, 2000, at Life Care Center of Yuma.

A retired mechanical engineer, he was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Los Angeles.

Johannes G. Hogeweide

Johannes G. Hogeweide, 67, of Port McNeil, British Columbia, Canada, died Feb. 17, 2000, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

A retired truck owner/operator, he was born July 5, 1932, in New Westminster, Canada.

Mary Josephine Miller

Mary Josephine Miller, 85, of Yuma died Feb. 17, 2000, at Life Care Center of Yuma.

A homemaker, she was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Anthony Veloz

Infant Anthony Veloz, 1 day old, of Yuma died Feb. 17, 2000, at Yuma Regional Medical Center..

Jay Bee Brown

Jay Bee Brown, 54 passed away February 25, 2001 in Fort Yuma Reservation. He was born 11/17/46 in Fort Yuma IHS.
Jay graduated from San Pasqual High School. He entered the Army and received the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Metal w/device, Sharp Shooter Rifle Vietnam service metal w/2 Bronze service stars. Jay worked as a Welder and a mechanic and volunteered for ceremonial services- Community Tribal Functions.
Jay is survived by his mother Mable B. Brown and Son Jonathon B. Brown. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Brown, and Brothers Ancel Brown and Arelian Brown.
Wake and Rosary will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church on March 1, 2001 at 4 pm.
Funeral services will be at 5pm at the Quechan Big House. Father Duncan Monohan will officiate and Military Honors will be by Post 82 Veterans. The Quechan cemetery will be his final resting place.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Bard, Randy Bard, Jonathan Brown, Mike Jackson, Sr., Ron Bounds, Raymond Zungia and Steven Bounds.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Osborne, Norman Osborne, Gordon Osborne, Lonnie Gilmore, Tim O'Brien, Pat Brown, Jr., Woodrow Brown, Byron Miguel, Keeny Escalanti, Sr., Charlie White and Tommy Joaqin.

Cruz Carabajal

Cruz Carabajal a lifelong Yuma resident passed away at his home on February 25, 2001. Mr. Carabajal was born on May 2, 1919 in Yuma. He attended Yuma schools and was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad for 37 years as a car inspector retiring in 1979.
Mr. Carabajal is survived by Alice, his wife of 61 years; four daughters Roberta (Rudy) Orduno of Tucson, AZ ; Hortense (Jack) Horn of Las Vegas, NV; Norma (Adolfo) Bustamante of Coltan, CA; and Elva (Jerry) Shannon of Sacramento, Ca. He was grandpa and pops to 13 grandchildren and great grandpa to 19 great grandchildren.
Mr. Carabajal was a talented musician playing for many years with the Tommy Munoz Band. Mr. Carabajal was an avid sports fan supporting local high school and youth sports.
Mr. Carabajal was preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Perfecta Carabajal brother Antonio and Sisters Ramona Souza and Beatrice Chretin.
In addition to his immediate family, Mr Carabajal is survived by his sister-in-law Hope Baker and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.
Wake will be at Johnson Mortuary on Thursday March 1, 2001, from 5pm to 9pm with Rosary at 7pm.
Funeral will be at Immaculate Concepcion Church on Friday March 2nd at 12:10 pm.
Memorial donation can be made to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. 8th Ave.

JERRY N. CLARK

Jerry N. Clark, age 63, former Wellton, AZ resident, passed away February 18, 2001, at his home in Escanaba, Michigan, following a lengthy cancer illness. Jerry was born in Ponca City, Okla. on August 6, 1937, the son of Noah J. and Floris Clark. While very young the family moved to Wellton, Arizona. Jerry graduated from Antelope Union High School as valedictorian of his class.
He entered the U.S. Army following high school and for the next 22 years he served his country. He served in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. He received the Expert Badge Rifle M-16, Expert Badge M-14, Good Conduct Medal with Silver Clasp-two Loops; two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1979.
Following the service he moved to Escanaba, Michigan, where he was employed at Christian Park as a certified nursing assistant for 20 years. He retired in 1999 due to ill health.
He married the former Barbara Broman on Sept. 9, 1967 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 82 of Escanaba. He enjoyed working with wood, yardwork, bowling, baseball, darts and his dog, "Olla." He was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors included his wife, Barbara, son, Steve Clark of Yuma, AZ, daughters, Paula Clark, Yuma, AZ; Susan (Bob) McKee, Lancaster, CA; Kendal Kettle, San Antonio, TX; Jennifer (Albert) Polequin, Escanaba; 12 grandchildren, Rebecca, Robert, Jennifer, Jon, Toni, Laura, Julia, Katie, Amy, Alyssa, Frankie and Kelsey. Also brother, James (Jane) Clark, Tucson, AZ; and sisters, Mary (Bill) Skaggs, Wellton, AZ; Linda Frew, Glendale, AZ; and Brenda Grant of Walhalla, So. Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Billy and Warren.
Services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veterans conducted Memorial Services, and Rev. Rick Courier of St. Thomas The Apostle Church conducted the funeral service. Burial was in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba.

Tellie Coates

Mrs. Coates was born in Porum, Oklahoma on September 1, 1914 and died at Palm View Care Center on Sunday, February 25, 2001. Visitation will be held Thursday March 1st, 2001 from 5-8 PM and funeral services at Johnson Mortuary Chapel on Friday, March 2nd, 2001 at 10:00 AM with Phil Clark officiating.
Mrs. Coates moved to Somerton in 1942 and has resided and worked in the Somerton/Yuma area since that time. She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Taylor, four grandsons Edward of Midland, Texas, Steven and his wife Victoria of Winterhaven, Timothy of Yuma, Richard and his wife Felisa of Yuma, three great-grandchildren Justine, Jocelyn and Jack.
She is also survived by her sisters Geneva Scott and Oneta Mahan of Porum, Oklahoma as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved as dearly as if they were n her daughters and sons.
Always a "feisty little gal" she was the center of attention at family gatherings and always had a joke for everyone. Although she will be greatly missed her family takes comfort that she is now at peace.

Yolanda Loaiza Demara

Yolanda passed away February 25, 2001 in Chandler, AZ. She was born January 1, 1943 in San Luis, Mexico.
Yolanda is survived by her loving Husband Sulpicio Loaiza; Brothers, Gilberto, Alejandro, Francisco, Robert, Manuel, Jorge, and Gerald Demara; Sisters, Susana Guevara, Maria Estela Gonzalez, Norma Molina; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by by her Parents, Antonio and Lupe.
Services are being held by Yuma Mortuary.

Ruben Lujan

Ruben passed away at the age of 22, on February 13, 2001, in San Diego, CA. He was born October 3, 1978 in San Bernadino, CA.
For the past three years, Ruben had been serving our country through the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tristan Lujan; Daughter, Aubriana Lujan; Mother, Teresa Montoya, all of Yuma, AZ; Father, Manuel Lujan, of Mesa, AZ; Brothers, George and Julian Lujan, both of Yuma, AZ; Sister Lynette Lujan, of Pt. Hueneme, CA, Grandmothers, Mary Montoya and Grace Vargas, both of Bloomington, CA; Grandfather, George Lujan, of Tucson, AZ.
Ruben is preceded in death by his twin Brother, Reggie Lujan; Grandfather, Ramon Montoya.
The Pall Bearers are: Julian Lujan, Greg and Andy Morrison, Joe Higuera, Robert De La Hoya, and Danny Kollick.
Wake will be held at Johnson's Mortuary, February 28, 2001, from 5PM-9PM. Rosary will be held that same evening at 7PM. Funeral Services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church March 1, 2001 at 10AM. Ruben will be laid to rest at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

Jacqueline Jo Ann Ridley

Jacqueline Jo Ann Ridley, 65 of Yuma died February 24, 2001 in Phoenix at the St. Joseph Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband: Thomas Ridley, Children: Alan L. Talamantes, Terri Jo Miley and Troy E. Jones, Step-children: Stacy Ridley and Jeff Ridley Grandchildren: Cherish L. Borer, Chernie M. Miley, Raymond Whitten, Brynn Wilbur, Abby Wilbur and Cole Ridley. Two Brothers: John Talamantes and Raymond Rix also survive.
Mr. Ridley was a resident of Yuma for 7 years and was loved by all and will be missed. She was born in El Cajon, CA and raised in Alpine.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Vista funeral Home Chapel, 11357 E. 40th St.
