SIMS, Marjorie N., 74, of San Manuel, AZ, passed away February 27, 1996. Preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Sims. Survived by son, John A. (Brynn) Jardine; daughters, Lynne J. (Ralph) Ramsey, Mary J. (Robert) Humphreys, and Joyce A. (George) Hughey; 11 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; brother, William Arthur (Virginia) Nelson; sister, Edna Mae (Horace) Bristol. Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 1 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Tucson. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Arizona Kidney Foundation, 4019 N. 44th St. Suite 201, Phoenix, AZ 85018.

VELIZ, Mary S., 75, of Tucson, passed away February 27, 1996. Survived by husband, Albert E. Veliz; daughters, Norma S. Procaccino, Patricia V. Gilbert, Nancy Ann Veliz McDonald, Yolanda Beasley, Arlene Veliz; sons, Albert S. Veliz Jr., Cmd. Ronald J. Veliz; sister, Connie Rivera; 15 grandchildren. Mass will be offered at St. Augustine Cathedral Friday, March 1, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Retired from working as an L.P.N. at Tucson Medical Center Newborn Nursery. Had worked with Tucson School District 1 and helped implement the school crossing guard program in the early 50's. WARD, Lillie Mae, died peacefully February 23, 1996 at age 87. Mae was a loving mother to Gail (Eileen). Grandmother of Steffan (Anne) Crone and Molli Anne Sowell. Great-grandmother to Spencer and Evan Crone and Angeleen and Benjamin Sowell. The family wishes to give heartfelt thank and gratitude to her caregivers at Balmoral Care Center who took care of her physical needs, and to St. Alban’s Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) who administered to spiritual needs the last six years. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday March 1 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 3737 N. Sabino Canyon Rd. The Rev. Tim Scott will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. Alban’s Memorial Fund.

ARTHUR, Elizabeth, 43, died March 1, 1996. Survived by her husband, Michael Arthur; daughters, Kristen and Sara Arthur, all of Tucson; brothers, William Babbit of Denmark, James Babbit of FL; sister, Mary Alyce Yates of FL. Mrs. Arthur received her BA in Psychology from Florida State. She was very active in the New Life Weslyen Christian Center, especially in AWANA and Children’s Christian Ministries. She was a member of the Tucson Quilters Association and was one of the leaders of CHET SE Home School Support Group. Liz was a devoted mother and wife and will be sadly missed by the many hearts she has touched. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Blood or Platlet donation in her memory will be appreciated. Memorial Service 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at New Life Weslyen Center, 8900 E. Golf Links, with Pastor Gary Downard officiating. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

Burris; sister of Terry L. Stone, Bobby S. Burris; granddaughter of Helen Grab, all of Tucson. BROCKMAN, Otto T., 80, Tucson native, died February 28, 1996. Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ruth E. Brockman; two daughters, Linda Kandel and Debby Brockman; five grandchildren, Michael Todd, Lisa Kandel, Marta, Kira and Quinn Sterner Brockman; sister, Elsa Hanna Wright; niece Lilian (Hector) Manciet; nephew, Edward (Evelyn) Hanna; nine grandnieces and grandnephews and numerous other loving family members and friends. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Monday, till time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the American Heart Association.

BUSH, Ruthann, 64, of Tucson, died February 29, 1996. She is survived by husband, Leonard; children, Jeffrey (Janine) Bush of Los Angeles, CA, Melodie (Michael) Menjou of Simi Valley, CA; grandchildren, Heather, Danielle, and David. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 1:30 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (one block North Grant.) with Rabbi Tom Louchheim officiating. CLENDANIEL, George W. Jr., 73 years old, died Thursday, February 29, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by his wife, Peggy Clendaniel of Tucson; two sons, George W. Clendaniel III of Phoenix, Andrew Clendaniel of Tucson; three daughters, Susan Kruchko of Baltimore, MD, Mary Gordon Clendaniel of Little Rock, AR, Cynthia Rutkowski of Sahuarita, AZ; two brothers, Lindsay E. Clendaniel of Denton, MD, R. Shelby Clendaniel of Trappe, MD; five grandchildren. Before retiring, Mr. Clendaniel was a Branch Manager for First Federal Savings and Loan in Green Valley. Mass for Mr. Clendaniel will be said at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 1996, St. Joseph’s Church, 215 S. Craycroft with burial to follow at Our Lady of the Desert. FRANK, Pauline M., 76, passed away peacefully February 27, 1996. She will be missed by stepson, Robert (Betty); grandchildren, Linda, Wendy, Carol and Tom; as well as great-grandchildren, Thomas, Bradley, Gregory, Bobby, Ahren and Hannah; many friends at Fairfield La Cholla will also miss Paula. Memorial Service will be at ADAIR, AVALON CHAPEL, 8090 N. GRANT, James W., died February 29, 1996. Survived by wife, Dorothy “Dot’ of 46 years; nephews, Michael Grant of Tucson, Leo Tune II of NC; niece, Ruth (George) Dickenson of IN, Dorothy’s family, Frank and Carol Ann Kapp of MI, Bob and Kathie Kapp of IL, Edna and Ralph Grandin of KS, Wayne Kapp of PA, Paul and Kathy Kapp of IN. James graduated from Columbia High School in Tiffin, OH, also served in the U.S. Air Force and loved planes. Retired from TMC as a buyer and served as a volunteer scurry driver, member of TMC Alumni. Volunteered at the Pima Air Museum. Member of the Photographic Society of America and active in Desert View Finders Camera Club of Tucson. He loved life, people and nature; enjoyed the actives of Jarden Del Sol Club. Jim and Dot were active in square dance community for 30 years, current members of Western Whirlers Square Dance Club. Jim will be cremated, requesting no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TMC Cancer Center, TMC Foundation, TMC Auxiliary, TMC Hospice, Christ Church United Methodist or charity of your choice. KLAIBER, Jerry D., 57, of Tucson, died February 28, 1996. Survivors include daughter, Leslie Peterson; two granddaughters, Hailie Peterson and Justine Klaiber; sister, Diane Wardrip; brother, Robert Klaiber, Apprentice Frank Bush. Preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Ernst Klaiber. Memorial Services will be at Catalina State Park 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 1996. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

MOODY, Earl D., 87, of Tucson, AZ, passed away February 28, 1996. Survived by loving wife, Marie of eight years; son, Arly Moody of Tucson; daughter, Carol Pulver of Provo, UT; and step-daughter, Nellie Motes of Provo, UT; 18 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years Velma Moody and a stepson Everett H. Brink. Earl was a carpenter and millwright by trade. He loved playing music and his animals and dancing. Earl brought kindness, wisdom and love into the lives of others and was loved by all. Services will be held Monday, March 4, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the L.D.S. Chapel, 3700 E. Fort Lowell Rd. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Family Care Foundation, 3443 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Tucson 85716. PUCHALLA, Gerhard Thomas, 80, of Tucson, died Friday, March 1, 1996. Survived by his wife, Erna; daughters, Karin Dean, Teri Seymour; grandchildren, Kim Miller, Randy Dean, Michael Dean. STOCKHAM, Clyde H., 84, died February 27, 1996. Survived by wife, Beatryce; daughter, Linda Burleson (David) Mann; stepdaughters, Renee (Jerome) Chelmo and Ramona Hamre; brothers, Paul (Amber) and Guy (Lela) Stockham; sister, Alice (Ty) Cobb; sister-in-law, Volene Stockham; 12 step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife Hope Littlefield in 1971 and a brother Carl. Clyde was owner of Stockham Evaporative Coolers of Tucson from 1941 til 1969. SULLIVAN, Robert J., 76, died February 29, 1996. Beloved husband of Maudine J.V. Sullivan; survived and loved by five children, Linda M. Kubler of Zurich, Switzerland, Marcia L. Callahan of Canton, MA, Philip R. Sullivan of Woodsville, NH, Mark R. Sullivan of Epping, NH, and Robert P. Sullivan of Yigo, Guam; brother, Arthur L. Sullivan of Shrewsbury, MA; six grandchildren. Robert was a graduate of New Hampton School and Worchester Polytechnic Institute. He performed research and development for MIT and Cambridge Air Force Labs. Formerly technical adviser to NATO for the United States in 1960. Retired engineer and director for Fairchild Controls Corp. Retired and yet operated a mineral business since 1971. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Entombment to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. BALISON, Muriel, 72, of Tucson and Basin, WY. Died March 1, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by husband, Harvey S. Balison of Tucson and Basin, WY. One son, Jeffrey Balison of Cody, WY. One daughter, Stephanie Painter of Casper, WY. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a sister, Harriette Wright of Billings, MT. A Memorial service for Mrs. Balison will be Monday, March 4, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at Tohono Chul Park at the Lo Maki Building at 7365 Paseo del Norte. CALEFFIE, Virginia, passed away February 28, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. She was born February 8, 1920 in Charleroi, PA., a daughter of the late Colombo M. and Elisa Bigi Caleffie. She attended Charleroi schools graduating with the high school class of 1937. The family moved to Tucson, AZ., that year due to health problems. When her health permitted, she served as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital in the auxiliary office and pastoral care. A brother, John Caleffie, preceded her in death in 1976. Survivors include a niece, Virginia Lee Carey, of CA and a nephew, Christopher Caleffie of NC. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. A visitation will be held Monday, March 4, 1996 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 East University Blvd. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

HOOGTERP, Henry H., 80, died March 1, 1996 in Tucson, AZ from a lengthy illness. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth C. Hoogterp; four daughters, Mary Jane Clement of Lawrence, KS, Judy DiClemente of Media, OH, Kathy Henderson of Nassau Bahamas and Margo Black of Tucson, AZ; six granddaughters and five grandsons; sister, Eleanor Johns; brother, Carlton Hoogterp; niece, Marian Fawcett. Preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Hoffert. Born August 22, 1915 in Hospers, IA and moved with his family soon afterwards to Rapid City, SD and resided there until 1990. Henry served in World War II as a combat engineer, and was owner of Holly’s Tobacco Shop and West River Monument Co. in Rapid City, SD. Henry was an avid stamp collector for many years. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1996, Ascension Lutheran Church, 1220 W. Magee Rd. with burial in Rapid City, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church and Hospice Family Care, Inc. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

SHOUP, Norma E., 81, of Tucson. Died Friday, March 1, 1996. She was preceded in death by husband Orson, November 1995, son Robert and granddaughters, Laura and Victoria. Survived by children, Ann Poynter, Orson R. Shoup, Daniel Shoup, Nadine Squires, Thomas Shoup: ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Pastor Chester Matyjasik of Mission View Assembly of God officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

TUNIS, Pastor Paul Charles, 53, of Sierra Vista, formerly of Tucson, passed away February 29, 1996. Survived by mother, Clara M. Tunis of Sierra Vista; brothers, Ralph W. (Mildred) Tunis of Tucson, Robert (Dorothea) Tunis of Berrien Springs, MI, Herbert Wayne (Judy) Tunis of Snow Flake, AZ; sisters, Betty Reamus of CA, Myrtle Hilton of Flint, MI; several nieces and nephews. Pastor Tunis was ordained in 1968 by Assembly of God. Among his many assignments he had served as Associate Pastor of Victory Assembly of God, Tucson for twelve years, later as Pastor of First Assembly of God, Coolidge, and had recently became Pastor of Mt. View Assembly of God, Sierra Vista. Through the years he also served as an Evangelist. Services Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. Victory Assembly of God, 2561 W. Ruthrauff Rd., with Pastor Virgil L. Jones, Arizona District Superintendent officiating. Friends may call Tuesday 9:30 a.m. til service time. Interment EVERGREEN CEMETERY. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.
