MADDEN, William W., 72, of Tucson, Died April 5, 1996 at his home. He was survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret; daughters, Constance (Donald) Darter of AR, Wynn (Kent) Maple and Elizabeth (August) Hartless both of Tucson; sister, Jewell Motes of MI; grandchildren, Kimberley, Margie, D’Lynn, Kelli, Jennifer, William, Jody, Kyle, Kody, and Kristi; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Christy, Tory and Justin with numerous nieces and nephews here and in AR. Mr. Madden’s memberships include Elks Lodge #385, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Showman’s Club. He will be fondly remembered by many friends. He was associated with The City of Fun Carnival for many years. Services Tuesday 10:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY with Interment to follow EVERGREEN CEMETERY. Friends may call Monday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

McDONAGH, John Michael, 57, died April 1, 1996. Husband of Gloria McDonagh of Tucson; father of Christopher McDonagh, Colby McDonagh and Cailen McDonagh, all of Tucson; brother Paul McDonagh also survive. Service will take place in MA. PEREZ, Agnes D., 73, of Tucson, died April 5, 1996. Survived by daughter, June Brewington; sister, Cleo Brown both of Tucson; brother, Peter Dardaris of Worminster, PA; grandchildren, April and Tina Brewington, of Tucson; and special friend, Clem Goetz. Services Monday 3:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile, with Rev. Henry Koosman of The Lutheran Church of the Ascension officiating. RIVERA, Dora Carrasco, 71 years old, died Friday, April 5, 1996. She was a life long resident of Arizona. Survived by husband, Nicholas; sons, Eugene, Robert (Margie), Johnny (Annie), Jimmy (Maria), Edward (Eva); daughters, Mariana Gomez, Belen (Arnulfo) Morales, Frances Lopez; others, Nick, Jr. (Jamie), Paul (Pat), Mark; brothers, Frank, Manuel, Gilbert, Alonzo, Alex Carrasco; sister, Eva Leon, all of Tucson; 35 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 1996 with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church on Tuesday April 9, 1996. Interment at South Lawn Cemetery.

Survived by wife, Linda of Hesperia, CA; son, Javier Jesus Vera of Tucson; daughter, Shanice Kara Vera of Hesperia, CA; parents, Jose Vera of Mexico and Maria Guadalupe Aguayo of Tucson; brothers, Jose Jr. of Tucson, Jorge of Pomona, CA and Adolfo Vera of San Diego, CA; sisters, Elvia, Veronica and Laura Vera of Tucson, Maria Sihas of Nogales, Bertha Morales of Rio Rico, and Olivia Morales of Nixon, TX. VERDUGO, Ernest B. “Neto’, 64, died March 24, 1996. He was survived by his sister, Dorina Beaty; brothers, Felix, Jose, Isidoro, Frank and Santiago Verdugo. Also survived by five nieces and good friends. Service at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) April 9 at 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Hope Cemetery.

AURBACH, Arthur, 81, of Tucson, died April 6, 1996. He is survived by wife, Helen; children, Richard (Elizabeth) of St. Louis, MO, Robert (Elizabeth) of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Ann, Elyse, and Rebecca. He was chairman of HABBJAHCH – Dollars for Scholars for many years. Service and interment were held on Monday, April 8, 1996 with Rabbi Joseph Weizenbaum officiating. BEDOY, Cleotilde G., 86, of Tucson, has gone home to be with the Lord on April 7, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen (Jesse M. Sr.) Luna; sister, Lupe Valenzuela; grandchildren, Jesse M. (Patricia) Luna, Jr., Danny (Patricia) Luna, Mary Helen (Wayne) Megariz; and great grandchildren, Melissa Luna, Jesse M. Luna III, Denise Luna, Danny J. Luna, Alex Megariz and Erica Megariz. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with a service at 7:00 p.m. officiating will be the Rev. Angel Sobrino. Final Service will be held on Friday, April 12, at 10:00 a.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel). Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

DIETZ, Richard George, CMSgt, U.S.A.F., Ret., 73, of Tucson, died Sunday, April 7, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Winifred; daughter, Gail (John) Freyer; son, Mark (Carol) Dietz; grandson, Charles Dietz, all of Tucson; brother, Jack (Regina) Dietz of IL. Mr. Dietz served in the Eighth Air Force during World War II, and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to Carondelet Hospice, Carondelet Foundation Office, P.O. Box 13170, Tucson, 85732-3170.

EHNERT, Rose M., 88, of Tucson, a homemaker and former escrow secretary, died April 6, 1996 in Phoenix. Born in Waukegan, IL. Preceded in death by husband, Ray and brothers, Lawrence and Steve. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Conner; granddaughter, Victoria Lynn; and grandson, James Russell Conner. No services are planned. Niche-side gathering at South Lawn Cemetery and Mortuary, 5401 S. Park Ave. Friday, April 12th at 11:00 a.m. Contributions; Alzheimers Association.

LEATHERMAN, Sarah Maxine, died April 8, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. She was 75. Mrs. Leatherman was born Maxine Watson in Roswell, OH. She graduated from Midvale High School in 1938, where she was active in drama and was associate editor of the school yearbook, the Midhian. She attended Capital University and Kent State University. She was active in the Toastmistress Club and was an instructor for the Dale Carnegie organization. She was an inspector for the Timken Roller Bearing Co. and an administrator for HARCATUS, a community action agency serving Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties. From 1974-1979 she was director of senior citizens nutrition centers for the Monroe County Opportunity Program in Monroe, MI. She retired to Arizona in 1981. She was a member of Sunnyside Senior Citizens in Tucson for several years and served one term as vice president of that organization. Mrs. Leatherman was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen, in 1956. She is survived by a daughter, Linda of Tucson; a son, Gary of Flagstaff, AZ; and a sister, Macel of Mogadore, OH. Her extended family includes four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private in Tucson.

LUSZCZEK, John W., 64, of Tucson, died April 9, 1996. He is survived by loving daughters, Lois Ann (Len) Cegielski, Cindy (Jerry ) Fitak, Linda (Jim) Czyzyk, and Chris (Jim) Popp; sister, Toni (Ed) Szumal; and brother, Ted (Wanda) Luszczek; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as best friend Janet Luszczek. Memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, April 10, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 7651 E. Pima. Services will also be in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, 1400 – 16th St., NW, Washington, D.C., 20036-2266. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

MOLINA, Jose A., 80, of Tucson, died March 27, 1996. Survivors include brother, Francisco C. (Maria L.) Molina; plus five nieces and five nephews. Friends may call at 7634 S. Camino Rahum, Tucson from 5:00 p.m. on, Thursday, April 11, 1996. Funeral Mass will be at Christo Rey Catholic Church, Friday morning April 12, 1996. Burial will follow at Monte Calvario Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

PLUARD, Shiori (Coach), 43 of Tucson, died Friday April 5, 1996 after more than a year of battling AML leukemia. She is now peaceful and at ease and her spirit now soars like an eagle. She was preceded in death by her father Lester E. Pluard and is survived by her husband Richard A. Barrios, son Maverick L. Barrios, mother Yukiko Pluard, and life long friend Mark Alexander. She wanted special thanks to go to those wonderful nurses and staff on 3NW at UMC and the wonderful people at APIC. She was born at the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, grew up in Cambridge, MA, graduated Buckingham Browne and Nichols and attended Florida Institute of Technology. She worked at Harris Semiconductor in Florida, Burr Brown Research in Tucson, and Kitt Peak National Observatory in Tucson. Shiori was the first woman head coach in Tucson Pop Warner Football and she served a term as Cowboys president. In 1985, her rookie year as a Cowboy head coach, her Mavericks went to the city championships. Her teams went to many play-off and bowl games in the following years. Many of her players went on to play on the Sabino High State Championship teams and many have gone on to successes in college and beyond in both football and non-football endeavors. She was especially active in the United Whovians of Tucson, Dr. Who fan club, and was a Trekkie from the start. Her last years have been spent writing and doing artwork and crafts. Most important to her has been raising her son, Maverick, to be a fine young man. In lieu of flowers please send donations in her name to one of the organizations that helped so much in her time of need. ROOK, Lydia, 83, passed away on April 3, 1996. She was preceded in death by Don Rook, her loving husband and her son Warren. She leaves behind her sisters, Francis, Margaret and Ruth; a loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Frank Melton; five grandchildren, Laura, Eric, Gary, Franci, Luke; and a great grandchild, Keenan, all from Tucson. It is not her death that we want you to know about, but her life. She was everything that a good person could be. Her life, which spanned most of this century, was a joy to her and to all who knew her. She loved every part of her life, but more than that, she loved every part of our lives. It was this constant love of life that helped many of her family and friends get through their toughest times in life. None of her own great burdens ever hindered her from helping anyone. Nana, you will be missed by all of us lucky enough to know you. We love you and you will live in our hearts forever. Nana – We will never forget you.

STRICKLER, Jeffrey A., December 13, 1967 – April 4, 1996. Jeff was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. Jeff lived in Tucson for 16 years. While attending Rincon High School he was active in band and choir. He graduated from ITT Tech. Institute in 1992. He was a member of National Honor Society of Alpha Beta Kappa, with a major in electronics and computer programming. After graduating he worked as a sales associate for model trains and later excelled in the computer media industry. Most recently working as a highly regarded computer technician. Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Dave and Jan Strickler; and his sister, Cynthia of Eugene, OR. Also faithful canine companion Lucy, and many loving friends. Jeffrey had many hobbies including bowling, involved in many differed leagues, he enjoyed building model trains, he was a Karaoke enthusiast and spent many hours surfing the Internet. He was a favored D.J. at several local clubs, one who actually played requests. In lieu of flowers Jeff requested donations be made to any local Aids Service Organizations.

SULLIVAN, Virginia Louise, died on April 7, 1996, a few months following her late husband, David. Survived by son, Tim R. (Katherine) of CO; and daughter, Susan (Daniel) Naylor of NM; seven grandchildren. She participated in the Tucson Estate Art Guild and the Sewing Stitchery Club. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 1996 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave.

TATALAJSKI, E.F. “Ski’ Ret. USMC, died April 3, 1996 at his home. He was born April 18, 1928 in Philadelphia. He is survived by son, Kevin Edward Tatalajski; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Manietta (Richard Manietta); four grandchildren, Julie, Alysse Tatalajski, Kristen Elizabeth Manietta, Joseph Richard Manietta, Anthony Robert Manietta. Mr. Tatalajski was a generous man who will be missed by many friend and family. He raised money for many local charities and helped individuals, both while overseas and during his long time residence in Tucson. He served in Vietnam, both while on active duty and after his retirement as a civilian with the State Department. He retired from Duval Mine. Visitation will be held at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, Thursday, April 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m.

WILLIS, Dorothy G. “Geri’, 63, died March 22, 1996 at home. A great mind, a great wit, a free spirit, much loved by her family and innumerable friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Lomaki House, Tohono Chul Park on Friday, April 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Service at 6:30 p.m.

BENATTI, Vincent George Jr., 71 years old, died Friday, April 5, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by his mother, Helen Benatti of Tucson; sister, Elenor Wroblewski of McHenry, IL. Services for Mr. Benatti will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 1996 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends of Mr. Benatti may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 1996 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

BOOTH, David V., 77, of Tucson, died March 31, 1996. Survived by wife, Arlene Stevenson-Booth of Tucson; son, Jim Booth of OR; daughter, Margaret Booth of MI; grandchildren, Matt of CA, John of OR, and Anne and Rob of MI; great granddaughter, Julia of MI; and John Roberta, and James Stevenson of AZ. Memorial Service will be held in the Sanctuary of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University Blvd, Tucson, 85705, on Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers to Trinity Presbyterian Church or Homer Public Schools, Homer, MI 49245.
