SPENCER, Helen McGinnis, born February 8, 1916 in Mena, Arkansas, in Tucson since 1941, passed away April 5, 1996. She was a bartender, and waitress. She worked at the Santa Rita Hotel Tap Room and Passion Pit, the El Conquistador Hotel, Saddle and Sirloin, Pago Pago, Paulo’s, Redwood Gay 90s, the El Con Club and the El Con Bar. She is survived by her daughter Laquita Turner Siqueiros of Tucson, and a son Everett Hoyt Turner of El Paso; stepdaughters, Lauren Spencer and Diane Miller of Overland Park, Kansas; her sister Olivia Sebesta of Richmond, Texas and a brother, Bill McGinnis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Shawn Sigueiros Murray and Trent Siqueiros of Tucson, Lincoln Hoyt Turner of Phoenix, Layne Turner and Lacey Turner Leyva of Chandler, and Lance Turner of San Diego; also six great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church at 8051 E. Broadway.

ZEIGLER, Kenneth E., 88, died April 6, 1996. Beloved husband of Carrie B. Zeigler; beloved father of Barbara (Rev. Ralph) Hilton, Lois (Kernie) Dishaw, Rev. Virgil M. (Donna Jean) Zeigler, Rev. Lloyd (Christine) Zeigler, Patrick Lee Zeigler; beloved father-in-law of Denise Zeigler; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Zeigler was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church and devoted Gideon for many years. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10th at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Funeral Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 600 N. Kolb Rd., with the Reverends Ralph Hilton, Virgil Zeigler and Lloyd Zeigler officiating. ATWILL, Fenwick C., 77, of Arden Hills, MN, a visitor of Tucson, passed away April 9, 1996. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Philip’s In The Foothills Church. BOYKA, Bruce, 50, of Tucson, died April 11, 1996. Survivors include: his son, Donovan D. Boyka of WA; brother, Terry (Barbara) Boyka of Tucson; aunt, Doris and uncle, Al Berle; niece, Tricia; and nephew, Travis Boyka; former wife, Pam Boyka. HERNDON, Charles Henson, age 66, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Northfield, IL, died April 11, 1996 in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his four children: Meredith Whitten of MA, Charles Herndon, Jr., Susan Connelly and Jennifer Mackey; all of IL; and nine grandchildren. He was born in Springfield, IL and was a graduate of Iowa State University. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a staff Child Psychologist at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL for over 25 years before taking early retirement in Tucson. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: The Herbert Salzer Fund, c/o Mr. John Scott, 1330 Westmoor Trail, Winnetka, IL 60093. This fund provides college scholarships to high school graduates in Pentwater, MI. Memorial Service will be held at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W. Ina. Service Times will be announced. LEE, Minnie Laurene, 61, of Tucson, has gone home to be with the Lord on April 8, 1996. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita L. Miller. Survived by her father, Will T. Lee of TX; sons, Larry Thomas of MA and Kenneth G. Thomas of Guam; daughter, Sylvia L. Daniels of TX; grandchildren, Larry II, Jeffrey and Ashley Thomas, all of Rockledge, FL, Stephanie L. Thomas of Atwater, CA and Michelle and Mika Cobb, both of Tucson. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

REDMAN, Freda Dorland, 73, of Tucson, passed away April 9, 1996. Survived by daughter, Diane McEwen; son, John Redman of WA; grandchildren, Freda Malone, Lloyd Fricke III, Sharrol Garland; and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Gordon of Medina, OH. She was preceded in death by husband, Edward W. Redman. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Old Base Chapel, Davis-Monthan A.F.B. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

TURNER, Arthur Francis, 89, died April 3, 1996. Preceded in death by his wife, Margarete K. Turner. Survived by his children, Francis Rudolf Turner of Bloomington, IN and Gretel Susan Turner of Tucson. Dr. Turner graduated from MIT in 1929 and received at Ph.D. from the University of Berlin in 1935. He joined Bausch and Lomb in Rochester, NY in 1939 and remained with said company until 1971 at which time he came to the University of Arizona as a professor in the school of Optical Sciences. He became Professor Emeritus of said department prior to his recent retirement. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit, MI.

WOODMANSEE, John Preston “Woody’, 72, of Lakeside, AZ, passed away on April 11, 1996. Formerly of Tucson, John was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired Network Manager for Mountain Bell. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Gloria of Tempe and Tim and Gail of Grand Junction, Co; grandchildren, Monique, Billy, Casey and Jaime; one brother, Landon; four sisters, Pearl Bales, Helen Grabe, Mildred Williams and Hazel Peterson; two sisters, Jane Murphy and Ruby Hodges are deceased. John was a master wood worker and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, especially baseball and softball. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Carondelet Hospice Foundation, P. O. Box 13170, Tucson, AZ 85732-3170. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held Sunday, April 14, 1996 at 1:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), in Tucson.

FETTER, Betty J., 73, died April 11, 1996. Mother of Dennis (Barbara) Fetter of Tucson, John (Pam) Fetter of OR and Peggy (Bob) Schneider of FL; sister of Jack Rossiter of OH; one granddaughter, Dawn Schneider also survives. HIPPLE, Zelma M., 79, of Tucson, passed away Friday, April 12, 1996. She is survived by her sons, Perry R. (Ruth) Hipple of Orange, CA and R. Craig (Jeannie) Hipple of Tucson; brother, Norman Reynolds of Centerville, PA; grandchildren, Barry, Shawna, Arthur and Bryan; great-grandson, Derrick Hipple; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Zelma was a member of Catalina Vista Church of the Nazarene and a resident of Tucson since 1952. Memorial Services Monday, April 15, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. (Mary Lou) Salgado; sisters, Celia Martinez; sisters-in-law, Lupe Valencia and Adela Valencia; brothers, Ramon Valencia and Leopoldo Valencia; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. FATHERA, Ronald R., 55, died April 11, 1996. Born in Tucson, AZ, worked 39 years at Magma Copper Mine. Survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, April (P.J.); son, Bryin (Janit) and four grandchildren. FORD, John Calvin, age 55, of Tucson, died Thursday, April 11, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Stephen and Scott Ford; stepchildren, Sherry and Gary Van Dongen; brothers, Robert and Lyndn Ford; beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rexford R. Ford and Marjorie McClelland. Mr. Ford retired in 1995 after 34 years of Civil Service employment working with AMARC. Memorial Services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 1996, with Rev. James Daughtry officiating. There will be a gathering of friends at Mary and John’s home immediately following service. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home in Athens, PA. Interment will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, also in Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1636 N. HALL, Dorothy Mae, 81, died April 13, 1996. The angels of the Lord came to take “Nanny’ to be with her husband Clarence E. Hall in paradise. She was born October 24, 1914 in PA and is survived by one brother, Melvin Javens of CA; and one sister, Lauretta Welles of PA; and by her three children, Clarence E. (Doris) Hall Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Viola “Dolly’ Bailey of Tucson and David L. (Jenny) Hall of Lisbon, OH; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with eulogy by her son Clarence. Interment will follow at TMP East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel on Tuesday, April 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. She was adored and cherished by all who knew and loved her. She spent her entire life giving generously of her time and love to her family. She cared for so many with consistent tenderness and unwavering dedication. She will be greatly missed, but her family feels blessed to have shared so much time with her and rejoices in eternal peace as we now turn her over into God’s loving care. “Nanny’ will live on in our hearts forever. KLAR, June Engstad, 65 of Tucson, passed away on April 12, 1996. Born in Onalaska, WI on June 22, 1930 to Orris and Hulda Engstad. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lawrence. June had a great love of life. She was very active in her church and community. Her caring ways touched many lives and she leaves behind a large circle of friends from all over the world. June was a member of Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, Norseman Federation and Vasa Club. She held many positions within the church including president of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Grand Canyon Synod and president of the Church Women United of Tucson. She is survived by her husband, Jack of Tucson; three daughters, Victoria of Lead, SD, Rebecca of Guilford, NY and Elizabeth of Beattie, KS; three granddaughters, Felecia, Rachel and Heather; and four brothers, Wayne, Gerry, Bill and John Engstad of WI. A memorial service will be held at Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail on Tuesday, April 16, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family designates memorials be given to Tucson Lutheran Homes or the Spanish Trail Lutheran Handbell Choir. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
