SMITH, Vera Joan, of Tucson, passed away May 7, 1996. She is survived by a loving husband of 23 years, Walter Lee Smith; mother, Edith Derosier; and brother, Don Derosier, both of St. Onge, SD; daughter, Pamela Brannan and her husband, Don, of Wichita, KS; son, David Smith of Kansas City, KS; daughter, Sondra D. Smith and husband, Chet Dowling of El Paso, TX; daughter, Cindy Kenton and husband, Jim, of Castle Rock, CO; daughter, Linda Smith of San Francisco, CA; and son, John Bailly of Kansas City, KS. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Vera Joan was born in Lead, SD and graduated from Deadwood High School, Deadwood, SD. She attended Stevens College and graduated from University of South Dakota. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority; PEO; New Voice Club of Tucson, and the Episcopal Church. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 9, 1996 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 4440 North Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ. The family suggests donations be made to American Cancer Society, St. Joseph's Hospice Services, and St. Philip's Episcopal Church.

STANKE, Helen A., 83, of Tucson, died May 6, 1996. She is survived by her husband, Frank Stanke; brother, LeRoy Gosh of Oconomowoc, WI. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Fuller officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Assoc. Directed by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., 327-6341.

THOMPSON, Richard J., 70, of Tucson, AZ, died May 6, 1996. He was born in Mason City, Iowa and was a Marine Corp Vet serving in the Pacific Theater. He is survived by his brothers, Edward and Robert; his daughters, Connie Harmsen, Mary Barnes, Barbara Hemmerick and Catherine Norwood; sons, Theodore J., Mark A., Richard D., James E. and Joseph G.; and nine grandchildren. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Contributions to Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., would be appreciated. WATSON, Dorothy, 79, of Tucson, formerly of Tucumcari, NM, died May 5, 1996. Preceded in death by husband, A. C. Watson of Tucumcari, NM and daughter Doris Zeleny of Marysville, CA. Survived by sons, Dave C. Watson of Tucson, Dr. Charles Edward Watson of Houston, TX; sisters, Helen Atkins of Rockwell, TX, Katherine Cox of Irving, TX and Jean Crawford of Andrews, TX; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. YTURRALDE, Mary L., 78, of Tucson, passed away May 5, 1996 with family and friends at her side. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edward. She will be missed by her daughters, Pauline (Samir) Fannoun, Evelyn (Pete) Ochoa, Carole Anne Yturralde. Also by her brothers, Ernest (Mary) Gallego, Rudy (Ruth) Gallego, Albert (Bodie) Gallego; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd., on Thursday, May 9, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorials be made to Carondelet Hospice Services, Carondelet Foundation Office, P.O. DICKEY, Lige A., age 83, of Route 1, Cypress Inn, TN, died Sunday, May 5, 1996 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Dickey was born February 20, 1913 in Wayne County to the late George Almond and Betty Kyle Dickey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Whitten Dickey and a son, Don Allen Dickey. Mr. Dickey was a machinist, farmer, and a retired Freewill Baptist minister. He was a member of Scotts Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons, Ronald Dickey of Big Sandy, TN, Neal Dickey of Cypress Inn, TN, and Paul Dickey of Tucson; two daughters, Eva Jean Pope of Waynesboro, TN and Patricia Meek of Lawrenceburg, TN; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Carlton Dickey of Hohenwald, TN; two sisters, Lobeda Reeves of Trenton, MI and Frances Berry of Collinwood, TN. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 1996 at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Collinwood with Emerald Bailey and Everett Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

LEE, Helen Ong, passed away on May 5, 1996. She is survived by her husband, Frank Lee; son, Jonathan Lee of Jamison, PA; daughter, Kiki Lee Strauss of Westminster, CO; grandchildren, Courtney and Allison Strauss and Adam Jacob Lee; sisters, Rose Ong of Phoenix, Jessie Ong and Ellen Ong Gin of Monterey Park, CA; brothers, Jim Ong and George Ong of Phoenix. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona. She taught in the Tucson Unified School District and served as counselor at Tucson High and Safford Junior High schools, retiring in 1989. Helen was active in the Tucson U.S.-China Friendship Association. Memorial Services Wednesday 3:30 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY with Pastor David Chan of Tucson Chinese Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call Tuesday 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile. PENNINGTON, Mary Katherine, died on Sunday, May 5, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. She was born in Phoenix on March 4, 1952 and lived the rest of her life in Tucson. She is a graduate of both Catalina High School and The University of Arizona. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Pennington and her mother, Hazel Pennington. Memorial Services will be held at Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests all donations be made to the Arizona Cancer Center/UAF.

PINELLO, Alexander R. (Alex), 75, of Tucson, formerly of Ohio and West Virginia, died Monday, May 6, 1996. Survived by wife, Mary of Tucson; sons, Alexander David Pinello (Patti) of OR, William Patrick Pinello of Tucson; granddaughter, Tiffinay Marie Pinello; sister, Margaret Reid of WV; sister-in-law, Betty Pinella; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends. Mr. Pinello was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Tucson. Mr. Pinello will be sent to West Virginia for service and burial. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

REARDON, Daniel Francis, M.D. 70, of Tucson, AZ passed on to his eternal reward on Sunday, May 5, 1996. Dr. Reardon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a pediatric physician. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel and his mother Helen. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Loretta; his children, Kevin (Gwen) Reardon, Karen Reardon M.D., Mike (Ida) Reardon, Maureen (Ken) McKenzie, Patty (Chris) Donahue, Peggy (Tom, M.D.) Williamson; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild;his aunt, Anne Reardon; uncle, Ed Reardon M.D.; and many in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces and good friends. He was a caring and generous person. Dr. Reardon had a family pediatric practice in Grand Rapids, MI for over 17 years and was actively involved with St. John's Children's Home and Catholic Social Services. He was associated with Gramec for three years before moving to Tucson in 1977 to become director of pediatrics at Kino Community Hospital until he retired in 1988. He was an active member and usher at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and served in 1996 as the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 10441. He will be remembered fondly by all whose lives were touched by his love for God, his wife, and children, and his friends, and by his special way of looking at the world around him with both humor and compassion. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 8, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Dr. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, kindly send memorial contributions to the Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745-2690, or the Special Olympics c/o Knights of Columbus Council #10441, 5150 Valley Rd., Tucson 85718. AMOS, Isom Joseph, Jr. 'Speck', went to his heavenly home on May 4, 1996 where there will be no more pain and suffering. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Betty; three sons, Ron (Becky), Chuck (Lori) and Keith; four grandsons, Shane, Troy, Jesse and Logan; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Emily; three brothers, Willard, Harry and David; two sisters, Marie and Marjorie and many more relatives and friends. Special friends, the Charles Hudson family. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Bertha and Isom, and two brothers Woodrow and Richard. Services Wednesday 2:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. ANDERSON, Richard Sidney (Andy), 68, left this life on May 4, 1996 and went to the promised land to begin life anew where he'll be waiting to be joined at a later time by his loving and most devoted wife and best friend of 23 years, Diana Brooks Anderson. he was the kind, gentle and caring Step-Papa of Leslie Suter of Tucson, Meridith White (Jim) of Round Rock, TX and Eric Racicot (Gloria Prior) of Coventry, CT. Warm and wonderful Granddad of Devon, Jonathon Suter, Jeremy, Colin, and Allyson White and Melissa and Paige Racicot. Born in Ft. McPherson, Atlanta, GA on July 25, 1927 to John A. and Mae V. (Brown) Anderson, survived by sister, Georgia (Al) LuKasevich of Seal Beach, CA and several nieces and nephews. Andy retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 and was a member of the American Legion Post 36 in Tucson for 24 years. he greatly enjoyed the simple things in life like treasure hunting and being with family and friends, but probably his greatest joy was taking his good buddies' money on the pool table every Saturday afternoon. Rest in peace my sweet. Memorial services at American Legion Post 36, 5845 E. 22nd St. on Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m.

DALLAS, Josephine Hampton, 82, of Tucson, died Saturday, May 4, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Norris of Sierra Vista, AZ; son, James Dallas of El Paso, TX; three granddaughters; one great grandson; one sister; and one brother. DAVIS, Gerald L., 73, of Tucson, died May 4, 1996. Survived by wife, of 54 years Angela H. Davis of Tucson; daughter, Nancy Christiansen of Tucson; son, Gary (Judy) Davis of Tucson; grandsons, Craig Davis of CA, Joe Carrillo and Keith Christiansen, both of Tucson. Mr. Davis was a member of Air Force Sergeants Association, National Association, Retired Federal Employees and he served the Federal Government for 31 years. YOUDELMAN, Jacqueline, 65, of Tucson, died May 4, 1996. Survived by loving husband of 41 years, Leonard 'Lenny'; sons, Frank (Donna) and Larry; sister, Edith Stern; grandchildren, Ariella and Robert. Jacqueline was a graduate of Emmerson College, a lifetime member of Brandis, a member of Hadassah, a volunteer at the Sickel Cell Enemia Foundation in Ossining, NY. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Congregation Bet Shalom, 3881 E. River Rd. with Rabbi Thomas Louchheim officiating. Entombment will be will be at Eastlawn Palms Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice. Services conducted by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., one block North Grant (327-6341).

ROCHA, Jose, 91, of Tucson, died May 4, 1996. Survivors include his children, Rafael (Emilia) Rocha, Felix Rocha, Jose (Mercy) Rocha, Antonio (Elisa) Rocha, Maria Ana Rocha, and Benjamin (Virginia) Rocha; 24 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; one brother, Nicomedes Rocha; and one sister, Juanita Payan; plus numerous loving nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francisca, son Roberto and grandson, Robert. Friends may call at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 1996. Funeral Mass will be said at St. Ambrose CC., Thursday, May 9, 1996 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. WALMSLEY, Diana Crittenden, died Sunday, May 5, 1996. She was born in San Antonio, TX on June 29, 1917. Miss Walmsley graduated from Smiths College in 1939. She served with the Red Cross in the European Theatre of WWII and in the Korean War. She moved to Tucson in 1951 and for many years owned and managed the Desert Lingerie Shop in Country Club Plaza. She was survived by two sisters, Joan W. Galloway of Tucson and Cynthia C. Walmsley of Jacksonville, IL; two nephews, Daniel L. Christy III of Phoenix and Stephen W. Christy of Tucson; two nieces, Carmen C. Christy and Tamsen E. Christy, both of Tucson. Miss Walmsley had requested no services.
