COOK, John O., 81 of Tucson, died September 25, 1996. Funeral at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway, Tuesday, October 1, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. (Hudgel’s Swan Funeral Home, 747-2525)

DAVIS, Vivian L., 73 of Tucson, formerly of Show Low, died Saturday, September 28, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Richard Davis 1994. She is survived by her children, Richard Davis, Ronald (Virginia) Davis, Terry Davis, Gayle Morgan; grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, and Rick Davis, Heather and Jared Morgan; and great grandson, Brandon Davis. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. with Dr. Henry Wooten officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Vivian will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

GARIS, Fern W., age 77 of Tucson, died September 28, 1996. Survived by her son, Robert (Cathy Homan) and granddaughter, Kelly Garis of WA; one brother, John Bausman of Mcadoo, PA. Mrs. Garis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. on November 16, 1956. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) Tuesday, October 1, 1996 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 1996 with Pastor Charles Riggs officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

GODBOUT, Lillian Marie, 92, resident of Tucson for 65 years, died Friday, September 27, 1996. She is survived by her six children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Godbout and her family were founding members of St. Cyril’s Church. Mrs. Godbout was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas and D.A.V. Auxiliary, Chapter 4. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 1996 at St. Cyril’s Church, 4725 E. Pima St. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

HAKEWILL, Louise Ellen, 94, died September 27, 1996. Mother of George (Joanne) Keim of Sonoita and Robert W. (Patricia) Keim of NJ. Six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. She was a resident of the Forum. Funeral Mass 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 1996 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her name, would be appreciated.

HOFBERG, Leo H., age 78 of Tucson, died September 28, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Clara of Tucson; one brother, Victor Hofberg of Lido Beach, NY; one nephew and two nieces. Born June 17, 1918 in N.Y.C., Mr. Hofberg retired in 1983 from London Records. He was on the Board of Directors for St. Phillips Early Music and was a member of the Austrian Club. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Joseph’s Carondelet Hospice. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

LESSNER, Harold S., “Hal” 75 of Tucson, died September 28, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Nettie; son, Mark M. (Connie) Lessner of San Jose, CA; grandchildren, Amenna, Aaron, Janel and Steven; sister, Dorothy Soloway of N.J.; brothers, Bernard and George Lessner of FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (one block North Grant.) with Rabbi Joseph Weizenbaum officiating. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery. Memorials in Hal’s name may be made to the charity of your choice. Directed by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 327-6341.

MARTIN, Michele H. Connolly, 77 of Tucson, died Friday, September 27, 1996. She is survived by her husband, Guthrie “Grouchy” Martin; son, James Dobrochowski, step-children, Robert Martin, Patricia Wetherell, Cherri Fritz, Judith Tonin, Karen Friscia; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 1996 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Heart Assoc.

McKENZIE, Esther W., 93, of Tucson died September 23, 1996. Preceded in death by husband, Bruce; and son, Nelson. Survived by son, Dan, daughters-in-law, Sylvia and Helen; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and faithful friend of many years, Ardie Jones. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 1, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church Chapel, 400 E. University Blvd, Rev. Eric Northard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Integra Hospice, 4330 N. Campbell Ave, Tucson, Az 85718.

MERCER, Stuart H. “Shorty”, 91 of Tucson, departed this world September 27, 1996. Born March 21, 1905 in Bonegap, IL. Father of Susan Hunter of Tucson; brother of Elwood Mercer of Bremerton, WA, Drury Mercer of Othello, WA, Allen Mercer of Portland, OR; grandfather of Nathan and Amber Hunter. Also survived by Ronald Hunter, who was considered like a son to Mr. Mercer. And numerous nieces and nephews. “Shorty” will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was vigorous and active in the lives of all who he touched till the very end and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. We love you Dad, go in peace. Friends may call Thursday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

PETERS, Della M., age 76. A 54 year resident of Tucson, passed away September 26, 1996. Born March 19, 1920 in Cabrey, IL. She is survived by her son, Lloyd L. (Cara) Peters and two grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 1996 at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

PRYOR, Jean Elaine, 73, a Tucson resident for 34 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 25, 1996. Born August 4, 1923 in Everett, WA, Jean moved to Tucson in 1962 with her growing family. She raised five children on the northwest side. Since 1987 Jean has enjoyed her many friends and social activities at Rincon Country West RV Park, where she was member and past president of the RCW Woodcarvers Club; always creating something beautiful with her talented hands. Jean will be missed by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her second husband, William L. Pryor. Jean is survived by five children, David L. Zimmer, Debra A. Zimmer, Bobbi J. Zimmer Johnson, James A. Zimmer, and William W. Zimmer; two step-children, Lynn Pryor Scheyd and William L. Pryor; and nine grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters, Leona Beattie of Sunnyvale, CA, Arline Douglas of Everett, WA, and Caryl Glassman of Marysville, WA. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 1996, 11:00 a.m. at Rincon County West RV Park, 4555 S. Mission Road.

ROUBLICK, Barry C., 37 of Tucson, died September 27, 1996. Survived by wife, Cynthia M. Roublick; daughter, Genevieve; parents, Carol A. and Frank J. Roublick of NY; brother, Frank C. Roublick of CA. SCHWAB, Peter Muhlenberg, 57, died on August 19, 1996 of a heart attack. Peter was born in 1939 in Northhampton, MA. He attended Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village, CT. From 1956 to 1968 he worked with Moral Re-Armament, and from 1968 to 1972 he was a member of Up With People. In 1972 he began a long and successful career as a software analyst. He was a a resident of Tucson for 26 years. Peter is survived by his wife, Ann; three sons, Jonathan, Daniel and Matthew; a daughter, Christine of Chicago, IL (daughter of Janice Harbaugh of Chicago); and by his mother, a brother, four sisters and many loving friends and relatives. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail.

CANCIO, Juan Lucero, born February 2, 1937, died September 26, 1996. Leaves behind his wife, Magadalena Cancio; sons, Juan Martin Cancio and Juanito Alex Valenzuela; daughters, Anna Marie Morillo, Diane M. Cancio; six grandchildren; brothers, Felix Leon Valenzuela, Jose Raul (Juanita) Cancio, Marcos Cancio; sisters, Petra (Santiago) Valenzuela, Concepcion (Bonifacio) Valenzuela, Beatrice Avelarde; daughter-in-law, Sandra Cancio; 60 nephews and nieces, 40 grandnieces and nephews; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Benny Espoma and in-law in Sells, Arizona and nephews and nieces. Friends can visit Sunday, September 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at San Martin De Porres, 418 W. 39th St., Tucson and also from 4:00 p.m. until at the family residence 7601 Camino Vahcom Pascua Pueblo. Mass at 8:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Church, Pascua Pueblo. Interment at Monte Calvaro Cemetery, Pascua Pueblo.

Survived by grandparents, Gilbert and Sylvia Corrales, Feddie and Virginia Molina; parents, Johnny and Martha Corrales; brother, Johnny Jr. Graveside Service will be held on Monday, September 30, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Hope Cemetery. EARL, Tracy Robert, Esq., 29, passed away on September 26, 1996 in Tucson, Arizona. He will greatly be missed by his wife, Staci; mother, Joanne and dear family friend Ray Lopez; mother and father-in-law, Sheila and Charles Stanford of Long Island, NY; grandparents, aunts, uncles, many loving cousins, caring friends and associates. KNOOP, Mary “Angel’, formerly of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died September 26, 1996 at TMC. Preceded in death by husband John H. Knoop, sister Jayne Holsinger and brother Thomas B. Devine. Survived by seven children; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Pat (Bill) Manda, Gerry (Dan) Murphy, Ann (Dan) Yersavich and Martha Eyerman, all of Tucson; sisters, Jo (Jack) Farson, Peggy (Bill) Diehl; brother-in-law, Perry Holsinger, all of Ohio; and sister-in-law, Sue Devine of Little Rock, AR. Funeral Mass at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, Monday, September 30 at 10:00 a.m.

LIEN, Selvin M., 75, of Tucson, passed away September 25, 1996. He is survived by son, Ronald (Gayle) Lien of Fontenelle Dam, WY; grandchildren, Hans (Angela) Lien and Brita Lien. He was preceded in death by wife, Marcella. Family and friends will gather to worship at American Lutheran Church, 115 N. Tucson Blvd., at 11:00 a.m, . Sunday, September 29, where there will be an opportunity to celebrate Selvin’s new life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
