Schlesselman, Jr. of Tucson, Gregory Schlesselman of Tucson, Joseph (Carrie) Schlesselman of West Jordan, UT, Thomas (RayeAnn) Schlesselman of Deadwood, SD, Kim (Ignacio) Maldonado of Tucson, Charles Schlesselman of Buffalo, WY, Deborah Skinner of McNeal, AZ, Thomas Ellis of Tucson; loving brother of Charles Schlesselman of Des Moines, IA. Also surviving are his 11 cherished grandchildren and his much loved great-grandson. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Private Interment will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

SPONSELLER, Eugene A., 74, of Tucson, died July 28, 1996. Husband of Esther M. of Tucson; father of John Sponseller of NC; brother of Richard Sponseller of Denver, CO; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Member of the Gopher Sam Group, employed by Sears for almost 20 years, member of the American Legion Post 290 for 50 years in Columbiana, OH and member of Pusch Ridge Christian Church. Contributions to the Pusch Ridge Christian Church, 235 W. Giaconda Way, #215, Tucson, AZ 85704. Memorial Service Saturday, August 24, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Browning officiating at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave., (888-1111).

STILES, Harold H., 79, died August 20, 1996. Survived by his loving wife, Gretel; his dear son, Gary, of Orange, CA; and two beloved granddaughters, Laurel and Noelle. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Signal Corps on Codes and Ciphers. Grew up in Detroit and moved to Tucson in 1947. Was Advertising Manager of Steinfeld's for several years, also Jacome's, and worked for Sinclair Advertising. Retired from TNI as Proof-reader. Served as an officer of the Tucson Advertising Club, and as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. A member of SAR with his Stiles family going back to 1635.Honorary member of Alpha Delta Sigma at the U of A. Sister Jane and brother Bob of Michigan also survive him. Died of an Intra-Cerebral Hemorrhage. A Memorial Service will be held at the ARIZONA MORTUARY, on Saturday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m.

THOMPSON, Donald E., 62, died August 18, 1996. Husband of Judith Thompson of Tucson; father of Carla Sanborn of CA, Dewayne Thompson of FL and Deborah Youngblood of CA; brother of Arthur C. Thompson, Jr. of CA and Alice Sanborn of CO; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends also survive. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 549, Tucson. Mr. Thompson was employed by the Dana Kepner Co. as manager of the Tucson Branch. Memorial Service 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 23 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 241 N. Harrison, with Pastor Curt L. Grube officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Tucson Medical Center Cancer Foundation, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

THOMAS, Romie Vargas, a native of Tucson, passed away August 22, 1996 in Sacramento, CA. She is survived by her four children, Carlos Calles of Tucson, Delece Diane Vargas, Cheryl Rivers and Dallas Thomas of Sacramento; also surviving are her sisters, Sophie Pesqueira and Irene Vargas, as well as 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Romie was preceded in death by her parents Herminia and Arturo Vargas, husband Dallas Thomas, brothers James and Robert Rivera and sisters Victoria Pellon and Beatrice Mejias. We will always remember her for the love and unconditional strength she gave us.

WHARRIE, John D., Jr., 74, of Tucson, died Sunday, August 25, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ellen; sons, James D. (Lorraine) Wharrie, Sr. of CA, John R. (Jana) Wharrie, Sr. of TX; brother, Milton (Lois) Wharrie of IL; sister, Bess (Don) Jafvert of NC; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mortuary Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

ANDERSON, Robert Earl, 73, of Tucson, passed away on August 11, 1996 at the Veterans Medical Center in Tucson.
He was born in Aledo, IL April 26, 1923, to Earl Anderson and Emeline Galloway Anderson Franks.
He married Patsy (Greeves) Anderson on May 1, 1945 in Aledo, IL. He received his education in Aledo, graduating with the class of 1941. After serving during W.W.II, as Naval Aviation Electrician, he received his Bachelor and Masters degrees at the University of Illinois, and graduate studies at Northern Illinois University.
Mr. Anderson taught in IL for 32 years, retiring in 1984. After spending nine winters in AZ, in 1993 he and his wife decided to make Tucson their permanent home. He held memberships in the Masonic Lodge #31, Andrew Webb #160, and Patton Commandery #69, all in Mt. Vernon, IL. The Medinah Shrine, Chicago; Charter member of Northwest Shrine Club; Charter member of B.P.O.E. in Elk Grove Village, IL; Life member of D.A.V., Member of I.B.E.W. #702 in West Frankfort, IL.; Life member of National Education Association, and Lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy Anderson, Tucson; son, James E. Anderson of Elk Grove Village, IL; brother, Larry(Caroline) Anderson, Galesburg, IL; step-brother, Roger (Sarah) Domme, Bradenton, FL; and sister-in-law, Betty Anderson, Milan, IL; cousin, William (Olive) Dillie, Tucson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Anderson was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; and step-father, Marvin Franks, who died in May 1996 at the age of 91.
His family wishes to extend their appreciation the the V.A. SICU Unit for the loving care given to their husband and father.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent in his name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. There will be no funeral services, but a memorial service will be held in Aledo, IL. at a later date, and a memorial service will be held in Tucson this winter. Robert had many friends, he was a giving and friendly man who never met a stranger. He was a loving husband and father, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

BISHOP, Ray Thompson “Tom', Jr., 48, of Tucson, died Tuesday, August 20, 1996.Survivors include: wife, Sonia; daughter, Tammie (Billy) Eader of Tucson; son, Ray T. Bishop III of Midwest City, OK; sister, Cathy (Joel) Larson of Sierra Vista; several beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, Friday, August 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Funeral Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., (at Speedway), 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, with Rev. James D. Howard of Tucson Baptist Temple officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. BONE, Shirley Mae, Arizona native, beloved Wife, Mother and Grandma was taken home to be with our Lord on August 19, 1996, after a year long struggle with cancer. She is survived by husband, George W.; three children, Donna (Jimmy) McClure, Jerry (Mary) Bone) and Gordon (Lesli) Bone; grandchildren, Darlene, Edward, Gregory and James McClure, Randy, Sherri, Jody, Chad and Kyle Bone; great-grandchildren, Misty and Tyrell; her brother, Ben (Thelma) Johnson of Salisaw, OK; her sister, Sarah “Gracie” (Ted) Miller of San Jose, CA; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by father Enos, mother Eva, brothers Harold, Nathan, John, and sisters Elva and Mary. Shirley Mae Bone was born October 16, 1929 to Enos and Eva Johnson in Douglas, AZ. She married George on November 15, 1947 and moved to Tucson where she has raised her family for the last 49 years. She worked for Sky Chef at Tucson International Airport, was active in the Girl Scouts, and her husbands teamsters local union. In her later years she retired to be at home with her family. We will always remember her for the unconditional love and enduring strength she has given each of us. Shirley was a remarkable woman to her family, friends and community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Southern Arizona Hospice Memorial Foundation. Visitation at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., Thursday, August 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 23 at 9:00 a.m. at Manor Baptist Church, 433 W. Lerdo.

BRUCE, Eugene H., 74, of Tucson, died August 19, 1996. He is survived by wife, Miriam; children, Michael (Martha) of Tucson, James (Jennifer) of Tucson, Kathleen (Randy) Barngrover of Apple Valley, CA, Richard of Tucson; mother, Gladys; grandchildren, Matthew, Seonaid, Nikolaus, Chelsea, and Kendra; brother, Robert (Mary Elizabeth) of Bakersfield, CA. Mr. Bruce taught Russian and Spanish with the TUSD School District, Spanish and History in the Ajo Public Schools, University of Hawaii, Iolana Boys School, and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 715 W. Vanover, on Friday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. David Barr officiating. Interment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, August 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Trisaigion Services at 7:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. FRY, Calmer L. “Cal' 72, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 1996.Survivors include; loving wife, Lucille; children, Debbie (Rod) Colglazier, Tom Fry, Bob (Anne) Fry, Mike (Wendy) Fry, all of Arizona, Dick (Amy) Fry of Montana, Tim(Diana) Fry of Nebraska; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; sister, Lucy Ianacone of Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22. The family suggests any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1636 N. HERNANDEZ, Jesus R., 79, of Tucson, passed away August 20, 1996. Survived by wife, Aurora D. Hernandez; sons, Jesus G. (Irene) and Raul Hernandez, Robert D., Hector D., and Fernando D. Munoz; sisters, Isabel (Jose) Ybarra, Anita Rodriguez, Ofelia Ballesteros; brothers, Alfonso and Benjamin Salazar and Mike Hernandez; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, all of Tucson. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 1996 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. KUNS, June, 82, died Sunday, August 18, 1996 in Kalispell, MT. She was born June 27, 1914 in Cutler, Indiana to Charles and Blanche Enoch. She married Raymond L. Kunes on July 23, 1936 in Cumberland, MD. June worked as a bookkeeper in the construction industry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Blanche Enoch; and two brothers, Bill Enoch and Lloyd Enoch. June is survived by her husband, Raymond of Yuma, AZ; two sisters, Bessie Enoch of So. Bend, IN and Hilda Wilson of Carmel, IN; nieces, Reva Sumpter and Betty Jo Kern of Tucson, AZ, Beverly McMillan of Carmel, IN, Martha Probst and Jeanette Hutchins of So. Bend, IN and Sue Sigrist of Glendale, AZ; nephews, Thomas Wilson of Indianapolis, IN, Gerald Enoch of Aurora, IL, Ned Enoch of Catlin, IL and Ted Enoch of Cutler, IN. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 1996 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. MEE, George W., 82, of Tucson, died August 19, 1996. He was a retired miner for Magma Copper. Mr. Mee is survived by his wife, Violet; son, William G. Mee, Jr. of Tucson; and four grandchildren, Amanda, George, Cori and Ahana. He was a member of the San Manuel BPO Elks Lodge #2007. Jake of Denton, TX; nieces, Yolanda Clow of WA, Czarina Soneson of Phoenix, Elsa Fimbres of Tucson and Kristin Robles of Los Angeles. Mr. Pemberton was a member of a pioneer family and involved in mining and ranching.
