HANSEN, Margarita, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away on November 2, 1996 after several months of illness.Margarita is remembered by family and friends around the world for her loving and caring personality. A Funeral Service was held in Switzerland where Margarita spent her last weeks in peace and quiet. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Phillips in the Hills Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave, (299-6421), on Sunday, November 17, at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate her life of achievements. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Margarita are accepted at the St. Joseph’s Hospice, 350 N. Wilmot, 85711, 296-3211.

ROMSTED, Ella B., 85, of Tucson, died Sunday, November 10, 1996. Survivors include children, Laurence of Highland Park, NJ and Marcia Bay of Tucson; grandchildren, Eric Romsted of Highland Park, NJ and Kathy Bay of Lynchburg, VA; sister, Ruth Altendorf of Franklin Park, IL. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Arizona Daily Star Sportsman Fund, Box 37001, Tucson, AZ 85740.

SNYDER, Emery E., 81, of Tucson, died November 10, 1996. Preceded in death by wife, Gladys; children, Eugene, Eleanor Gardner, Betty Zimmerman; sisters, Marjorie Griffith, Hazel Snyder; brothers, Alvin Snyder and Alfred Snyder. Survived by children, Leon Snyder, Bonnie Gebhart, Marion Rivera, Wayne Frederick, Robert Frederick, Glen Frederick, Pauline Beck; sisters, Ruth Owens, Pearl Waldruff, Dorothy Evans, Ida Berrie, Edith Suhocki; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Snyder was a former employee of the Circle K Corp., Super City and Hughes Air Craft Co. Services were private. Arrangements through VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson, Blvd. (1 1/2 blocks N. of Grant Rd.) 327-6341.

TADICH, George, 77, of Tucson, died November 11, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Josephine; brother, Louis Tadich of Ohio; sister, Sally Kovacevich of Ohio; nieces and nephew, Patricia Privett of Ohio, Pamela and Carl Rowe. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, with Father Anthony Moschonas officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, November 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Trisagion Service at 7:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. BECKLEY, Elvira, 82, of 2670 University Ave., died Wednesday, November 13, 1996 at Cedar Creek Adult Care Home. Elvira was born May 1, 1914 to the late Curt and Hulda (Wilde) Hiller. She married Edwin Thompson in Manitowoc and he preceded her in death in 1960. Elvira and Edwin enjoyed traveling throughout the United states. She then married Robert Beckley in Tucson, Arizona and he preceded her in death in 1987. Elvira also enjoyed quiet times spent at home with Robert. Elvira was a secretary for the Tucson Unified School District until the time of her retirement. Survived by one nephew, Allan (Mary) Hiller and family. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Also preceded in death by one brother, Arno Hiller; one sister-in-law, Adeline (Hiller) Parizek; one niece, Annette Hiller. Friends may call at Malcore Funeral Home, University Ave. at Baird Street from 7:00 p.m. this evening until the time of service. Funeral Service, 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson, Arizona.

BROKKEN, Richard O. Born November 3, 1949, passed away November 2, 1996.Survived by his loving friend, Linda Kay Bostwick, 'his Joann'; two nieces, Michelle Lumer and Lisa McNitt; six great nieces and nephews, Josh, Jake, Zach, Dominique, Morina and his extra special Courtney, along with many friends. He was a former South Tucson Policeman and owned his own business. He was currently employed for Pima County Wastewater. Memorial Services will be held November 17, at Valley Christian Church, 5968 E. Fairmount at 3:00 p.m.

FAIRBANKS, Elizabeth M., 77, of Tucson, passed away November 11, 1996. Preceded in death by husband, Jack M. Fairbanks.Beloved mother of Penny (Richard) Waldron of Tucson and Lynn (David) Clarke of Virginia; grandmother of J.T. Waldron of Tucson, Scott W. Fairbanks of California and Katharine Clarke of Virginia. Mrs. Fairbanks was a member of the Republican National Committee. Private family services to be held. MCKINLEY, 'Chris' James Christopher, 18, of Tucson, passed away November 11, 1996. Preceded in death by Felipe D. Pinedo. Survived by great-grandmother, Beatriz Ramirez; grandparents, Adela Myias and Bernabe Duarte and Sixta Pinedo, Glenn and Sherlyn McKinley; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark McKinley and his father, Daniel Pinedo; brothers, Timothy, Sean; many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts. MICHELS, Alicia Villagran, 76, died November 9, 1996. Mother of Alicia Slavis of Albany, NY; Rodolfo E. Michels of Tucson and Yvette Jonsson of Farmington, NM; sister of Alvaro Villagran of Los Angeles, CA and Aida V. Schmidt of Tucson; nine grandchildren also survive. Mass will be offered 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 1996 at St. Thomas De Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., with Father Todd O’leary officiating. RHUDY, Elmer H. After a courageous fight for the life he loved so dearly, Elmer H. Rhudy, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully in the presence of his beloved wife, Jane Edson Rhudy, family and friends on Wednesday, November 13, 1996. Elmer was born on February 13, 1916 in Moore, OK to Floyd K. Rhudy and Ada Peachee Rhudy. Elmer was married in 1937 to Ala Marie Jontra of Howard, KS, who shared his life for 51 years until her death in 1988. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Tunisia, Rome, Southern France and the Rhineland during WWII until 1945. Elmer lived throughout the west and Midwest in Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Idaho, Utah, Texas and Nevada; retiring in Tucson in 1976. Elmer was an energetic, vibrant and tenacious sales man, by trade and by calling. He was happiest working a sale, be it in the clothing department of the Moline Mercantile Company or as a manager for the La Quinta Motor Inns. His life can be said to have been characterized by his love of people, his kind heart, and his gift of salesmanship. Elmer was a member of the Sabbar Shrine Temple and the BPO Elks Lodge of Tucson and a lifetime member of the Meridian Masonic Lodge of Elks Falls, KS. He is preceded in death by three sisters and is survived by his wife, Jane; his sister, Esther Ottinger ofTexas; and his three brothers, Paul and his wife Hazel of CO, Howard and his wife Mary of MI, and Dale and his wife June of KS. He will also be missed by his wife’s children, Fred M. Edson and his wife Margie Puerta Edson, Judy D. Edson all of Tucson, Kathie Kalmowitz of Columbia, S.C. and Carol Thompson Nelson and her husband Ron Nelson of Manassas, VA and Christopher Thompson of Albuquerque, NM. Elmer will be remembered for his easy laugh, his wonderful smile and his unquenchable thirst for life. His many friends and family members will miss him, but know in their hearts that Elmer lived his life the way he wanted, to the fullest and that he passed when the time was right for him. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Ravin Gaston and retired Reverend Clifton, a long time friend to Elmer, on Saturday, November 16, 1996 at Catalina Methodist Chapel, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the home of Fred and Margie Edson, 3423 E. 4th Street directly following the service.

BENEVILLE, Muriel Louise, 82, a 40 year resident of Tucson, passed away November 10, 1996. Born April 2, 1914 in New York, New York. A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary. Survived by her son, Warren Dean (Ann) Beneville; grandchildren, Wendi Allardice, Gretchen Finney and Dean Brent Beneville; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Cletus) Bamber. Services will be private. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

CONTRERAS, Matilde L., 88, died Tuesday, November 12, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by two sons, Rudy Contreras and Ralph Contreras both of Tucson; two daughters, Adalia (John) Hernandez and Alejadrina 'Drina' (Rudy) Acosta both of Tucson; one sister, Patrica Cutino of Tucson; 14 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mass for Mrs. Contreras will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 1996 at Most Holy Trinity Church, 1300 N. Greasewood. HABERSTICH, Janet, 56, passed away October 31, 1996 at St.Joseph’s Hospital. Wife, mother and friend, she will be sorely missed by her husband of 32 years, Chuck; son, Mark; and daughter, Valerie. Jan graduated from Colorado State College in Greely, CO in 1959. She taught school for six years before devoting her life to her family, but still finding time for community service in many areas including England and Germany. Preceded in death by her father and mother, Floyd and Lucia Ragland. Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Following the service family and friends will gather at our home to celebrate Jan’s life.
