CHILDRESS, Natasha, passed away on October 14, 1996, Monday. Born in Berlin, Germany on July 16, 1979. Survived by her loving parents, Terri and Duane Bentley; brothers, Jesse, J.C., Duane; sister, Megan; son, Nicholas; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fowler, Mr. and Mrs. Bentley, Mr. and Mrs. Myrick; numerous aunts and uncles, friends and classmates. Services for Natasha will be held Friday, October 18, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, where friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

CROUCH, Diane Marie Bielot, died October 12, 1996 after courageously fighting cancer for a year. Diane Marie Bielot was born in New London, CT on January 30, 1947 to Stephen Joseph and Elizabeth Joan Parrish Bielot. She lived in Quaker Hill, attending Quaker Hill Elementary, and Clark Lane Junior High School. She graduated with honors from Waterford High School in 1965. Diane graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Math Education in 1969. She taught mathematics at Norwich Free Academy for four years. Diane and Buck Crouch were married on March 25, 1972. She received her Master of Arts degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Connecticut in 1973. When Buck was discharged from the Navy in July of 1973, Diane left her precious Connecticut for Tucson. She began teaching at Sahaurita Junior High School, where she taught the mathematics for five years. Two years later, March 15, 1975, she had her first child and properly named Mollie Marie Crouch after Buck’s grandmother. Elizabeth Marie Crouch was born on June 20, 1978, named after Diane’s mother and grandmother. Diane taught mathematics at Catalina High School for that year. The next year she taught the sixth grade at St. John’s in Tucson. Diane went to Baboquivori High School in 1980 where she taught mathematics until 1993 when the long trip out got the best of her and she began teaching at Esperaro Canyon Middle School. Her son, Buck Crouch III, was born on October 10, 1983. He was named after his father and grandfather. She taught at Esperaro Canyon Middle School until May of 1995. This was to be her last teaching job. She followed Buck to San Diego and lived in a small cottage a few blocks from the beach in La Jolla. Diane made and collected dolls from the time she was a child. She gave away with love almost all the dolls she made. Diane is survived by her husband, Buck; her daughters; Mollie Marie Crouch and Elizabeth (Becky) Marie Crouch; her son, Buck Crouch III; her father, Stephen Joseph Bielot; her sister, Mary Joseph; and her brother, David Bielot. A Memorial Service will be held at 1540 E. Linden, Tucson, AZ at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 1996.

DELWARTE, Charles Albert, 69, passed away October 15, 1996 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Husband of Virginia; father of Kathy Gibson, Chuck Delwarte and Melanie Larson; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. This loving husband, father, grandfather and friend leaves us all better people for knowing and sharing with him. His wife, Virginia, of over 50 years was his high school sweetheart from Tucson High School. Charles worked for American Airlines since 1943, starting at age 16, until 1986. He grew into manhood along with the company. His friends and family knew him as a simple man with simple pleasures, he supported the Wildcat Club and all the teams, Vanguard with his old friends from American Airlines, and of course his family that he always loved and guided over the years. We will all miss his strength and courage but know that he has gone on to a more beautiful and peaceful place and that he will help us in the future. We will be celebrating his life at a Memorial Service at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, on Friday, October 18, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Breast Cancer Research, 1636 N. Swan Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712 or American Heart Association, 5325 E. Pima, Tucson, AZ 85712.

JACOB, Myrtle Johanna, 92, of Tucson, died October 15, 1996. Preceded in death by husband, Arthur. Survived by nieces and nephews. Interment Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, Illinois. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.

LAOS, Rudy, the last remaining son of the Tucson pioneer Laos family of Fernando and Juanita Laos, passed away on October 15, 1996 after a long illness. Rudy was a lifetime member of the Elks Club Lodge #385. Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary; children, Jennie Connor, Diana King and Rudy Laos; grandchildren, Teena Connor, Mark Connor, Phillip Laos, Michael Laos, Thomas Coble III; and three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Cristina and Ashley. Rudy loved his family above all else and will be remembered by all those he touched. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco, with Father Charles Cloud officiating, on Friday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, on Thursday, October 17, 1996 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Interment Holy Hope Cemetery.

MANLEY, Ida Elizabeth, born November 25, 1920, passed away Saturday, October 12, 1996 in San Diego. Beth was member of the First Methodist United Methodist Church of Tucson. She is survived by her loving son, Charles D. Manley and his wife Marianne; one granddaughter, Alexandra; and one grandson, Luke, all of San Diego; two brothers, Thomas E. McLemore of Houston, and Robert W. McLemore of Texas City; numerous cousins, nieces, and one nephew. Beth graduated from Galena Park High School in 1938, Texas State College for Women in 1942, and earned her Masters degree in Education from the University of Houston in 1956. She taught at Galen Park High School in Texas until 1966 when she retired to Tucson. Beth lived at the Fair Haven complex now run by the Tucson Metropolitan Ministries and later at the Silverbell West retirement complex near St. Mary’s Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, at the First Baptist Church of Galena Park, Texas at 1505 First Street. There will be a scattering of her ashes at the First United Methodist Church of Tucson at 915 East Fourth Street at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation, Attn. Memorials, 6464 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85715.

REEVES, Captain Gerald M., U.S.N. (Ret.) died on Saturday, October 13, 1996 at Villa Compana Health Center at the age of 78. Captain Reeves was born in Bisbee, Arizona on November 23, 1917. He joined the Navy as an enlisted man in 1935 and received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1938. Captain Reeves served as assistant gunnery officer aboard the battleship U.S.S. Salt Lake City during World War II. During that tour of duty, he took part in the Battle of the Komodorski Islands and several major battles in the Solomon Islands. As executive officer of the submarine U.S.S. Piper, Captain Reeves participated in a war patrol with Captain Edward L. Beach, noted author of Run Silent, Run Deep. He subsequently received command of his own submarine, followed by command of a division of submarines, then a squadron of submarines, and finally, command of the 22 submarines composing Submarine Flotilla Five. As Operations officer for the Hawaiian Sea Frontier, Captain Reeves was responsible for coordinating the retrieval of the space capsule and astronauts involved in Project Gemini from the waters surrounding Hawaii. After his retirement from the Navy, Captain Reeves worked for G.E. Tempo as a consultant before retiring to Tucson. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rueth and his son, Ken. He leaves behind a daughter, Rachel Porter of Kula, Hawaii and a granddaughter, Yvonne Reeves of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Memorial Services will be held at EAST LAWN MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. on Friday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m.

TAPPAN, Edward, 75, died October 10, 1996. Survived by his wife, Germaine M. Tappan; four sons, Frederick, Lawrence, James and Andrew Tappan; brother, Robert Tappan; grandchildren, Steve, Eddie, Luke, Levi, Megan, Jade, Jamie and Scott Tappan; several nieces and nephews. Eddie was born in North Carolina and raised in Milton, MA by his aunt Olivia B. James. He moved to Arizona in 1934, entered the U.S. Army Air Forces (as it was then called) in 1943 serving in France. Most recently owning a horse and cattle ranch in Sonoita, Arizona. Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 1996 at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, N. Campbell and River Rd. Private Entombment will be at East Lawn Palms Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Edward and Germaine Tappan Fund for the University of Arizona Foundation of the Theatrical Arts or the Edward and Germaine Tappan Endowment Fund for the University of Arizona Department of Agriculture. VARNEY, Robert Lee 'Hopper', 43, of Tucson, died October 11, 1996. Survived by sons, Brian and Dale Varney of Tucson; and sister, Gail Halderman of Phoenix. Mr. Varney was a wrecker driver for Frontier Towing Company and in the community for many years. Memorial Service Friday, 11:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

BIDWELL, Lois L., 67, passed away October 12, 1996 following a long valiant battle against cancer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Benjamin 'Benny'; and her two children, Deborah (Ron) and Michael (Joy); and her five loving grandchildren, Scott, Heather, Brett, Brianne and Mikala. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Mooneyham of OK; sisters, Marylou Ramm of OK, Louise Moor of FL, May Kelly of OK, Frieda Ramm of MI and Betty Fudge of TX. Her wisdom, counsel and exceptional wit, as well as her profound devotion to family and friends will be dearly missed. She also was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Mariposa Chapter #31. The Service will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., at Grant and Craycroft at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 1996. Flowers welcome or contributions may be made to Integra Hospice.

CURTRIGHT, Carl Brooks, 70, a 16 year resident of Tucson, passed away October 13, 1996. Survived by loving wife, Nadine; children, Carrol (Gary) McQuade of Laramie, WY, Joyce (Richard) Becker of Loveland, CO, Steve (Zoe) Curtright of Laramie; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert of Cheyenne, WY and Raymond of Tucson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Curtright served in the US Navy and the Air National Guard in Cheyenne during World War II. He served as treasurer of the Catalina Remote Control Modeler’s Club and was an active member of the Northwest Brethren Chapel. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, at Northwest Brethren Chapel, 505 W. Hardy, with Pastor David L. West officiating. Graveside Service 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, at Greenhill Cemetery, Laramie, with Pastor Emery Hurd of Cheyenne Brethren Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Brethren Chapel. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

FRONTZ, James Darrell, 63, of Tucson, died Monday, October 14, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, James Howard Frontz, Thomas Patrick Frontz, Peggy JoMae Forrest; grandchildren, Matthew James Frontz, Robert Jason Frontz, Nicole Raeanne Forrest, Kayla Christine Forrest, Joshua Ray Forrest, Eric James Darrell Forrest; sisters, Grace Powell, Irene Stover, Maxine Novak; brother, Charles Frontz. Mr. Frontz retired from the US Air Force and retired from the VA Medical Center where he specialized in dietetics. He was a member of American Legion Post 36 and a life member of D.A.V. Chapter 2.Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 1996 at Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E. Pima St. Private interment was held at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. HERNANDEZ, Juanita B., 68, of Tucson, died October 12, 1996. Mother of Francisco B. Hernandez, Hortencia Jessie Hernandez, both of Tucson, Frances Lewis of Grandview, WA, Patricia Hernandez of San Manuel, AZ, David Hernandez of Tucson and Vincent B. Hernandez of San Manuel, AZ; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL Wednesday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. with Raymond Skinner officiating. Interment Valley View Cemetery, Mammoth, AZ. Arrangements by ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave., (888-1111).

HONEA, Cloie J. (Mamoo), died October 13, 1996 at Hospice Family Care. She was born in Gage, Oklahoma, January 11, 199 02. When she was 17 years old, her family moved to AZ. In 1920 she married Wilburn R. Honea in Tucson where they lived until 1941 when they moved to Marana. He farmed there until his death in 1961. In are cent Founders’ Day Parade, Cloie was honored as the Matriarch of one of Marana’s earliest families. She was the last surviving charter member of Tucson’s First Nazarene Church. She is survived by daughters, Bernice (Duncan) Hinton, Maudine Klein, Barbara (Phil) Cain; sons, Wendell (Joyce), Ray (Wynema), Ronald (Helen) and Robert (Pat); an infant daughter, Beverly, who died in 1941. Also surviving is her brother, Lee Terrell of Payson; 28 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., Friday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m.Visitation will be from noon to service time. Reverend Ross Hayslip presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, 500 W. Calle Concordia, OroValley 85737. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

INBODY, Cecil D., 90, of Tucson, died October 15, 1996. Survivors include: sons, Robert and Kenneth of Tucson; daughters, Doris Orr of Windham, OH and Sandra Inbody of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Muriel in 1985. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. KEELING, Katie Lee, formerly of Salida, CO, went to be with the Lord October 14, 1996. She was born November 17, 1898 in Corsicana, TX. She was the widow of William T. Keeling, who preceded her in death in 1973. Survived by son, Bill (Jackie) Keeling and daughter, Doris Watters, all of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Betty Starbuck of Salida, CO. She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Allen Watters. She has eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Mrs. Keeling’s life was a great adventure filled with excitement, purpose and power. Her disposition was like sunshine, she was full of energy, laughter, cuteness and style and a woman of great faith. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 1996. Funeral Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Frank Shelt of Casas Adobes Baptist Church officiating. Entombment in Holy Hope Mausoleum will follow.

LITTRELL, Norman M., 78, a 49 year resident of Douglas, Arizona, died suddenly October 13, 1996 of an apparent pulmonary embolism. Survived by wife of 58 years, Marjorie L. Littrell; two daughters, Elise Hesser and Ann Littrell; four grandchildren, Chris Hesser, Zachary, Erik and Sara Shisslak; and three brothers, Art, Merritt and Delbert. Norman was the High School principal in Douglas for many years. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Douglas. Donations may be made to the Norman M. Littrell Scholarship Fund, c/o Southeastern Arizona Federal Credit Union, P. O. Box 1059, Douglas, AZ 85607.

LONTO, Dorothea, 60, passed away October 12, 1996. She will be remembered as a dedicated and faithful wife to (RET.) CMSGT James M. Lonto U.S.A.F. A loving mother to Michael (Laurie) Lonto of Portland, OR and Jean Lonto. By her brother Joseph (Rosemary) Galinis of Succasunna, NJ; her sister-in-law Joyce (Ray) Galinis of Bloomfield, NJ, and as a daughter-in-law to Mary M. Lonto. She was a member of the CWOC of Davis Monthan Base Chapel. And her hobby of donating her hand knitted afghans to various organizations was done from the heart. Visitation Services will be held at 6910 E. Broadway, BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL on Tuesday, October 15, 1996 and Wednesday, October 16, 1996 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 17, 1996 at Davis Monthan Air Force Base Chapel at 9:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow the funeral at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1636 N. Swan Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712.
