TRAVIS, Dorothy Frances Camden Goforth. We are celebrating the life of Dorothy Frances Camden Goforth Travis, beloved wife and mother who left us January 20, 1997. She was born on the 16th day of August 1943 in Barberton, Ohio to Bernadine Smith Camden and Herbert F. Camden. 'Dot', as most of her affectionate friends called her, lived in Charlotte, NC. She worked for First Union Bank and Eastern Airlines which brought her to Tucson, AZ in 1979. When Eastern dissolved she took a position with Pima County Superior Courts, because of failing health she took a early retirement in 1996. She was mourned by her devoted husband of 12 years, Carl J. Travis of Tucson; four children, Lynne Goforth Sanders, Jacqueline Goforth Herring, Michael A.Travis and Susan Travis Mangione and seven grandchildren: Jenilee, Rachel, Kevin Sanders, Brianna and Aaron Herring, Nikole and Chelsea Mangione. Memorial Services will be held at Christ Church Untied Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft Rd. on January 24, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the ALF Association, Southern Arizona Chapter. P.O. Box 85595, Tucson, AZ 85754-5595, in memory of Dorothy Travis.

WALTERS, Patricia, 45, of Tucson, passed away January 15, 1997. Survived by her son, Erik McGuire and father, Wilfred Block. Sgt. Walters was a member of the Tucson Police Department just short of two decades. Also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, 8090 N. Northern Ave. on Thursday, January 23rd from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel. Sgt. Walters family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carondelet Hospice Care Center in Patricia’s memory. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. BALES, Clifford W., 75, of Tucson, died January 13, 1997. Preceded in death by his wife, Bernice. Born June 4, 1921 in Poneto, Indiana. Was a veteran of WWII. Survived by sisters, Loma Jean Comer of Upland, IN and Lydia Hiett of Clinton, IN; three children, Michael Bales and wife, Diane Davis of Sierra Vista, Barbra Bales and husband, J.T. Coyne from San Diego, CA and son, Alan Bales and wife Cindy of Tucson; three grandchildren, Robert Bales of Sierra Vista, Melissa and Clarice Bales of Tucson.Memorial Service is Tuesday, January 21 at 10:30 at Out Saviours’ Lutheran Church, Campbell and Helen. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of American, Catalina Council.

BALTES, Dorothy Vogel, 87, died January 19, 1997. Survived by brother, Ed Vogel; sister, Mary Smith, both of Toleto, OH; Godchild, Lois Sands Mitsch of Tucson; Long time very close friend, Reverend Father Bob Thomas. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 12:00 p.m. noon, Wednesday, January 22 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Burial in Our Lady of The Desert Cemetery. Mrs. Baltes was an alumni of Bowling Green State University of Ohio and a long time resident of Villa Maria. DUTTLE, Elva M., 100, died January 6, 1997. Preceded in death by husband Ray in 1949, daughter Corinne (Eugene) Lohberg, 1995. Survived by daughters, Arlene (Raulf) Erickson, Imelda (Burton) Bennett; sons, Jay (Joanne), Ray (Irma); three sisters, Helen Waechter, Dubuque, IA, Ester Cote, Wilton, IA, Florence Koenig, Tucson; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Cecile McPherson. Graveside Service was held January 9 officiated by Deacon Don Baker, St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment South Lawn Cemetery.

GUTIERREZ, Narciso. Former Trackman of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, died Monday, December 30, 1996 in Tepatitaian, Jalisco, Mexico. He was 94 years old. He is survived by his five daughters and one son, Eleanor of Phoenix, AZ, Mary, Lenna, Roseann of Chicago, IL, Gloria of Tucson, AZ and Joe of San Jose, CA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Narciso was born on Rancho El Tepozan, Arandes, Jalisco, Mexico, but went to the United States as a young man. He was hired on the B & O Railroad in 1927 and retired in 1967. He lived in Youngstown, Ohio while working as a Trackman. He and his wife traveled to Mexico, Illinois, Ohio and California to visit their family and friends, but chose Tucson as their home.

MEAD, Marie D., 84, of Tucson passed away January 19, 1997. Survived by husband, Philip E. Mead; children, Connie Anderson, and Philip E. (Concetta) Mead, Jr.; also five grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, January 23, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY CHAPEL, 7 E. University Blvd. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

MILLIGAN, Louise Marguerite, born May 7, 1907, in Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away January 16, 1997. Predeceased in death by her parents, Alex and Amy Milligan. Survived by cousins, Herbert Vincent and William Vincent, Iowa City, IA; cousins, Carol Kucheman Fromuth and Clark Kucheman, Chesterfield, MO and Louis Lehman. She graduated from Tucson High and the University of Arizona; attended librarian school in Los Angeles and received her certificate. She worked in the University of Arizona Library and was invited by her former boss to join him at Oregon State University. She was on staff at Oregon State University for 16 years and retired as assistant catalogue librarian and returned to Tucson. She was a member of and very active in Daughters of the American Revolution, a contributor to the Arizona Girls Ranch and enjoyed concerts and picnics. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). Wednesday, January 22, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. PACK, Lester, 73, of Tucson, died Sunday, January 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Teresina; daughters, Denise, Sandra, Dawn; grandchildren, Tomas, Pamela, Camelia, James, David; brothers, Herbert, William; and sister, Hazel. Mr. Pack was a member of the 101st Airborne Division Assoc., DAV Chapter 2, and VFW Post 549. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mortuary on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

PAGE, Matilda, 95, died January 17, 1997. Survived by grandchildren, Nadine Adams from WV, Isaac Woods from CT, William Woods from OH, Phyllis Williamson from GA, Rebecca Wells from WV; 28 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and friends. SIMONE (nee Vetrano), Janice, 46, went to be with her Lord, January 18, 1997. She was born in New York on May 25, 1950. She is survived by her husband, Gerald 'Jerry' Simone; her brothers; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. TAEGER, Leonard Jonathan, 20, died Sunday, January 19, 1997 in Yuma, AZ. He was born in Tucson, AZ, December 18, 1976. Survived by parents, Gilbert and Mary Taeger of Yuma, AZ; grandmother, Frances Taeger of Tucson; sisters, Angela C. Taeger of Phoenix and Melissa J. Taeger of Yuma. Jones of 41 years; four children, Pearl A. Unger and husband, Howard O. Swanger, Betty J. Roiland, Donald W. Jones and wife, Eve Jones, Deborah L. Diaz and husband, Ramon M. Diaz; three grandchildren and one sister, Theresa Scott. David was a retired Military and a retired Civil Service G S12.
