JORGENSON, Darrell Bruce, 43, died August 20, 1997. Son of Charles E. and Mildred Jorgenson of Tucson; brother of Donald (Cindy) Jorgensen of Tucson, nephews, Don, Tyler and Andrew; and niece, Kellie also survive. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25 at Palo Verde Park Ward LDS Church, 6901 E. Kenyon Drive, with Bishop Jerry Cluff conducting. Interment to follow at TMP, East Lawn. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway and one hour prior to service time at the Church.

KELLY, Dr. John A. Memorial Service for Dr. John A. Kelly who passed away in Tucson on August 3, 1997 will be held Saturday afternoon, August 23, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 1220 W. Magee, Tucson, AZ, with the Rev. Rick Mensing officiating Pastor.

KINMAN, Nona Faye, 90, died suddenly at home August 19, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Kinman and her parents, Harry D. and Edna McCall. She is survived by many caring friends. Born in Kansas, Nona attended Teachers College in Hays and later worked for many years in California in hotel catering. After moving to Tucson nearly 20 years ago, she touched many lives through her work at the Lower Court Grill, the Jewell Thief and the Armory Park Senior Citizens Center. An advocate for an active, productive life, Nona served as a volunteer for several years at the Tucson Children’s Museum, loving the energy and caring of the creative staff and the children with whom she interacted. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Nona will be remembered for her energetic, optimistic attitude toward life. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. Memorial donations may be made to the Tucson Children’s Museum. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.

MCCARTHY, Edwin C., 73, of Marana, died August 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Rachel; daughter, Andrea Craig of Seattle; grandson, Jason; sisters, Irene and Grace. Memorial Services will be held from VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. (1 Blk No. of Grant), on Saturday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m.

MCLENDON, Stuart (Mac), an Arizona native son, born in Bisbee December 12, 1924, died at his Tucson home on August 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; and daughter, Suzanne Rehbock of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott. Stu was a World War II Navy Veteran and long time Tucson Optician, who will be remembered for his dedication to quality service to his customers. He was a generous man who shared his wit, skill and friendship. Private services will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

PAIGE, Watson C., Jr., 34, died August 19, 1997. Survived by his wife, Vashti Paige; children, Joseph, Jasmine, Dorian, Deago and Watson Paige III; mother, Juanita Paige; grandmother, Golda Davis; and two brothers, Warren and Andre. Friends may call 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. at the Siloam Freewill Church, 628 E. Adams, Pastor Otis F. Brown Jr.officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery with military honors by Davis-Monthan Air Force.

Vaughn E. Stock, born February 8, 1936, died August 21, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Dennis (Cheryl) Stock, Michael (Kim) Pease, Kevin (Chere) Stock, Kevin (Dalene) Cano, David (Janet) Hand and Garrin (Amy) Stock; 17 grandchildren; siblings, Loran, Nelvin, Viola, Jane, Olive, Lathelan. Mr. Stock retired after 35 years as a manager with US West. He showed his dedication to the Lord through his service in the Bishopric High Council and as a temple worker. Friends may call at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ward Six, 939 West Chapala Drive, from 9:00 a.m. until Service time on Saturday, August 23, 1997. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the LDS Cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd.

STONE, Nicholas Aeneas, three months, of Tucson, died August 18, 1997. Survived by his parents, Timothy and Amy Stone;brother, Nathaniel; grandparents, Sue and Lee Shepherd of California, Jean and Terry Stone of California and Walter Radwick of Alaska; great-grandmothers, Marjorie Eipper of Ohio and Emily Brown of California; and several other family members. Funeral Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 1997 with Rev. Dale Jacobson officiating.

Dr. Oscar J. Swenson, 93, of Tucson, passed away August 15, 1997. He is survived by wife, Pauline M. Swenson; three stepchildren; two step-grandchildren; one son, John E.Swenson of Petersburg, VA; grandchildren, Tauni Swenson of Boston and Tyler Swenson of CA. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Roscoe, MN and grew up on a farm in Columbus, ND where his love of machinery started. He attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1931. He continued on and obtained his Ph.D. with distinction in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering in 1935. Throughout his career he worked as an Industrial Engineer with DuPont, was a professor of Chemical Engineering at Cornell University, was a consultant for Johnson Wax and was the technical director at Olin Industries. While at Johnson Wax he developed a process for extracting wax from sugar cane waste and spent some time in Cuba building two plants for this purpose. His career also took him to Louisiana to build a refinery, Europe and many different states. He left Olin in 1960 to work on the development of one of his inventions, a manually operated torque – magnifying impact wrench for which he obtained a patent under the trademark ”Swench”. The Swench was intended for use in areas where electricity for power tools was not available. Since then it has been and still used extensively by the military. Throughout his career he worked and obtained patents for 23 different inventions. His love of machinery continued throughout his life. He maintained a workshop at his home and spent many enjoyable hours working on numerous projects. No services were held at his request. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

WALLACE, Robert J., born May 24, 1931, passed away August 21, 1997. Born in Butte, Montana. Resident of Tucson since 1965. Known to friends as ”Bob”. He was loved by family and friends. Miner for 30 years. Although retired for 17 years, to those who knew him he never retired from anything, leading a very active life. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Marie Wallace; and his five children, Michael J. Wallace, Linda M. Hamilton, Debbie A. Argenziano, Mark W. Wallace and Kathy M. Johansen; and 11 grandchildren. He will be missed by all. God rest. Following his wishes Bob will becremated. Service at Sacred Heart Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Saturday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m.

BROWN, Thomas L., 94 years old, died Monday, August 18, 1997 in Tucson. Born on April 27, 1903 in Gray Summit, Missouri. Survived by his wife, Victoria Brown of Tucson; one daughter, Donna Dunham of Tucson; five sons, Ted Brown of Missouri, Don Brown of Illinois, Lloyd Brown of Tucson, AZ, Dean Brown of Illinois and David Brown of Tucson, AZ; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Masonic Graveside Services for Mr. Brown will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 1997 at East Lawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant, conducted by Masonic Lodge #52 Oasis Lodge. Friends of Mr. Brown may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 1997 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338. Memorials may be made to the Shrines Crippled Children Fund.
