AYOUB, William Joseph, 79, died August 3, 1997. Husband of Mae Ayoub of Tucson; father of Mary Heinsohn of Elkton, MD, Teresa Smith of Tucson, William Ayoub, Jr. of Phoenix and Thomas Ayoub of Tucson; brother of Edward Ayoub of Lansing, MI and Catherine Jaeger of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Teresa Ayoub, Christopher Ayoub, Brandon Ayoub, Kelly Smith and Bradley Smith also survive. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army. Memorial Mass 9:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 1997 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima with Father Richard Kingsley officiating. Following Memorial Mass interment of cremains, Ft. Huachuca Post Cemetery, 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 1997. Contributions to the Guardianships of Southern Arizona, P.O. Box 13253, Tucson, AZ 85732 in his memory would be appreciated. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

BILBY, Kenneth W., age 78, was born October 7, 1918 in Salt Lake City, UT and passed away in Dallas, TX on August 1, 1997. Mr. Bilby made his home both in Dallas and Greenwich, CT, where he lived for 35 years. Before his retirement in 1984, Mr. Bilby served as an executive vice-president of Radio Corporation of America for 22 years. Prior to that he worked for NBC and Carl Byoir Advertising Associates in New York City. Upon his retirement, Mr. Bilby was appointed, Executive-in-Residence and taught at the Harvard Business School for two years. Mr. Bilby attended Columbia University and graduated with a B.A. from the University of Arizona. During World War II, he served as lieutenant colonel in the 30th infantry division in fighting its way across France and Germany. He was awarded the Legion of Honor Bronze Star and the Silver Star. Following the war, he was assigned to cover the Arab-Israeli war as a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune. He wrote a book about that experience called New Star in the Near East. He also authored a book tracing the rise of RCA and its founder General David Sarnoff, called The General. Mr. Bilby was an avid sportsman who traveled worldwide. Mr. Bilby is survived by his wife, Joanne Stroud Bilby; four children, Wynne Racine, Kenneth Bilby, Jr., Margot Snellback and Bryan Bilby; one brother, Judge Richard Bilby; five grandchildren, Ben and Hallie Racine, Taylor Bilby and Leigh and Harrison Snellback and three stepchildren, Ethan Stroud, Eric Stroud and Natasha Stroud. A Memorial Service will be held in Dallas on Sunday, August 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Perkins Chapel at Southern Methodist University and in Rye, NY on Wednesday, August 6 at 4:00 p.m. at the APAWAMIS Club. The family requests that memorials be made to the Ralph W. Bilby Chair at the University of Arizona Law School.

BLYTHE, John J., Lt. Col., U.S.A.F., Ret., 77, died August 3, 1997. Devoted father of Michael, Thomas and Robert Blythe and Judy Hardy; brother of Robert and Alice Getman. 15 grandchildren also survive. John was preceded in death by Kay, his beloved wife of 47 years; by daughter Ann Marie (Blythe) Feeney; infant daughter, Joyce Elaine; brothers, Joe and Walter and sisters, Joan and Virginia. He was an active member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #2532, Order of Daedalians, retired Officer’s Association, VFW #549. John and Kay lived throughout the U.S. and overseas during a 31 year U.S. Air Force career. Mass will be offered 9:00 a.m, Thursday, August 7, 1997 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft with Terry Tastard officiating. Mass will be followed by military honors from Davis-Monthan AFB honor guard at the Graveside, Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m, Wednesday, August 6, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Lung Association, 2819 E. Broadway, Tucson, AZ 85716, in John’s memory would by appreciated.

DOWN, Miriam V., age 78, of Tucson, AZ, died Monday, August 4, 1997. She was born in Gibsonburg, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Loren W. Down. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her daughters, Jean Sams and Jinny Mueller; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Charles E. Bair of Indiana. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 1997 at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

HAWKINS, Beulah T., who resided at 5772 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, died Saturday, August 2, 1997. EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY is in charge of Funeral arrangements. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 on Friday evening August 8 for family and friends at the mortuary. A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6150 Fairmount, on Saturday, August 9 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Fund or the Fort Lowell Ward Missionary Fund of the LDS Church.

KELLY, Dr. John Allen, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died suddenly Sunday, August 3, 1997 at Tucson, AZ at the age of 49. The Funeral for Dr. Kelly will be held Friday, August 8, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Prayer Service at 7:15 p.m. in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington. John was born March 15, 1948 at Jamestown, ND the son of E. Wayne Kelly and Edna (Hausauer) Kelly. In 1959 he moved with his parents to Carrington, ND. He graduated from Carrington High School in 1966. He graduated from the University of Washington Medical School in 1974. He performed his medical residency in surgery at the Tucson Medical Center, Tucson, AZ. Dr. Kelly practiced general and vascular surgery and was on staff at several hospitals in Tucson until his death. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. John loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hiking and bicycling. John is survived by his mother, Edna K. Kelly, Carrington, ND; two sisters, Katherine (Mrs. David) Boron, Anoka, MN and Donna Kelly, Woodbury, MN; one nephew, Kelly Skadberg; three nieces, Melissa Ring, Nicole Ring and Sophia Skadberg and special friend, Susan Banchy. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

LAFLAIR, Robert Harding, 74, died August 2, 1997. Survived by five children. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MYERS, James Franklin, passed away July 18, 1997. Born March 11, 1942 to David Franklin and Thelma I. Myers of Tucson.Survived by son, Raymond Myers; daughter, Rosemary Myers of KY; three stepchildren, Rick, Melody and Joy of IN and nine grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Puckett of IN and Stella Brewer of Tucson.

PETR, Joseph A., age 90, born July 17, 1907, a member of the Chapter #55 Tucson National Association of Retired Federal Employees, passed away August 3, 1997 in Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose in 1983. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Colette Petr of Dallas, TX and granddaughter, Warrant Officer #1, Tammy Ann Stewart. A private Burial for the family will be held in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Elks Children Services, Rt. 5 Box 185, Gonzales, TX 78629. Arrangements by Metrocrest Funeral Home, (972) 242-3646.

ROHRBACH, Lillian M., died at her home in Tucson on August 2, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Richard R. Rohrbach. She was born in Denver, CO and held a degree from the University of Colorado and a Masters degree from the University of Miami. She was a longtime employee of Valley National Bank and Pima Savings and Loan and was last employed by Sahuaro Credit Union. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

TRUJILLO, Susie D., 90, of Jamul, CA, passed away July 31 1997. Survived by daughter, Angela (Don) Varela; sons, Floyd Martinez and Roy Trujillo; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 South Stone Ave, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, August 8, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. VALDEZ, Manuelita D., 86, of Tucson, passed away August 2, 1997. Survived by daughters, Sally (Armando) Cruz, Dora (Robert) Alvarez, Erma Hernandez; sons, Benito (Veronica) Valdez, Felipe (Mary) Valdez; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. WILLIAMS, Floyd E., 75, died July 31, 1997. He is survived by loving wife, Beverly; sons, Jim (Susan), Gary (Bonnie); daughter, Carole (Preston) Moore; sister, Florence (Wally) Amolsch; four grandchildren; one great-grandson and four stepsons. He was a 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corp, WWII. A member of Masonic Lodge in his native Indiana where he retired young from the family business as funeral director. He moved to Arizona and followed his hobby of raising and training race horses for many years. He and Beverly took many trips and cruises to Mexico, Hawaii, US and the Caribbean. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. on Thursday, August 7, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

BROADDUS, Louella L., 65, died peacefully at home on July 31, 1997. A resident of Tucson for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Broaddus. She is survived by four daughters and one son, Beverly (Buster) Goff of Hobbs, Carolyn (Peter) Seidl of Tucson, Jody (Allen) Dillon of Phoenix, Billie Jo Broaddus of Tucson and Gary (Colleen) Allred of San Antonio; three brothers, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many dear friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate Louella’s life will be held on Monday, August 4, 1:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN FUNERAL CHAPEL, Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Rd.

CONSTANT, Jerry Dale, 50, of Tucson, formerly of Iowa, passed away July 28, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Constant; son, Tim Constant; parents, Dale and Grace Cobb; stepdaughters, Angel Ward and Kimberly Burton; sister, Della Constant; grandchildren, Alie, Amber, Erin, Jade and Damion. There will be no Services in Tucson. Memorials may be made to the VA Day Center. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

CZERNY, Everett Watson, MD., died suddenly in Denver, CO, Wednesday, July 30, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gregory Czerny; son, Bradford Rush (Una Yazzie); daughter, Betsy Fredrick (David); two grandsons, Eric and Kevin; and a sister-in-law, Judith Czerny. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 4, 4:00 p.m. at Grace St. Paul’s Church, 2331 E.Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, P. O. Box 13423, Tucson, AZ 85732-3423, Alzheimer’s Respite Care Fund, c/o Handmakers, 5100 E. Grant Rd., 85712 or a charity of your choice.

EARLY, Wallace E.”Bud”, left this earth suddenly on July 29, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 42 years; daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Will of Tucson, Linda (Gerard Olson) Dever of Tucson, Rhonda (Robert) O’Neal of Wichita, KS; son, Lane Early of Tucson; brothers, Dave (Betty) Early of Tucson, Duane (Lois) Early of Tucson; sister, Karen (Aaron Peters) Hans of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He retired from Hughes Aircraft seven years ago after 34 years of employment. He was a small man, but Oh! what a big-heart he had. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 4, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. at First Free Methodist Church, 1350 N. Arcadia Ave. (east of Swan and north of Pima). Suzanne L. McQuaid, 40, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on August 1, 1997. She leaves her husband, Kenneth A. McQuaid; parents, Vernon D. and Beverly A. Jones; grandparents, Ralph and Viola Majors; sisters, Roxanne Jones, Diane (Steve) Rockhold; nephew, Curtis Rockhold, all of Tucson. She leaves three stepchildren; numerous step grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins scattered across the country. Service, Monday, 10:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Pastor Tom Savage of Amphitheater Bible Church officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. MENDOZA, Aurora Sandoval, 77, of Tucson, passed away July 31, 1997. Preceded in death by her husband, Juan Mendoza; sisters, Enriqueta and Trinidad and brother, Clemente. Survived by daughters, Angela S. (Pea) Mendoza, Lydia Herber; sons, Jose, Tino Mendoza; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; along with many nephews and nieces. Survived by two sons, Leonard Zimmerman and Fred Zimmerman; one daughter, Kathleen John, all of Tucson; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
