WEED, Agnes R., born November 7, 1907, passed away November 11, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Weed and daughter, Patricia. She is survived by her son, William E. (Suzanne); grandsons, Jon and Mark; sister, Margaret; brother, Walter (Elaine) Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 1998 at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. A Vigil Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Mass will be on Monday, November 16, 1998 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell Rd. BLACK, Lillian A., 87 of Tucson, died November 13, 1998. Preceded in death by her husband, George Black (1987). Survived by niece, Judy Paul of WI; and nephew, Walter Kalacinski of CA. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Elder Paul Gibson, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. DOWNER, Betty Ann, 71 of Tucson, passed away November 13, 1998. Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Ken; her daughter, Susan Good; her sons Kevin (Mary) Eubanks and James (Sarah) Eubanks; as well as five grandchildren also survive. Services were private. Funeral conducted by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME 327-6341.

JOHNSON, Mabel, 100, homestead resident of the Oro Valley area of Tucson since 1925, passed away Friday, November 13, 1998. She is survived by daughter Valeda (Arthur) Kramer; grandson, Don (Karen) Kramer; and great grandsons, Scott and Steven. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, AVALON CHAPEL, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (at Magee), Wednesday, November 18, 1998, starting at 10:00 a.m., with a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

ROBERTS, Dorothy Marie, 70 of Tucson, died November 15, 1998. Survived by husband, Austin J. Roberts; sons, Jerald Roberts, Ernest and his wife Deborah Roberts, Justin and his wife Christine Roberts; daughter, Rebecca and her husband Michael Dickerson; mother Ella L. Criswell; sister, Sarah Margaret Weaver; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 East Grant Road where funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

WHITE, Kathryn Lee Morton, 72, a native Tusconan, died Friday after a long battle with leukemia.
'Puddin' White, as she was known all her life, was born at the Stork's Nest downtown on Jan. 27, 1926. She went to Sam Hughes Elementary School and Mansfeld Junior high before graduating from Tucson High School in 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, William H. White, in February 1945.
She joined St. Mark's Presbyterian Church three years after it was founded, in 1951. She served as a deacon of the church and was an active member until her death.
The Whites have been active with the Tucson Corral of the Westerners, a historical society. She also served on the first board of the Tucson High Badger Foundation, and was a driving force behind many of the school's reunions.
Survivors include her husband Bill; three children, Mary Mercer of Glendale, William White of Covina, California, and Kathy Wilson of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Ann Leedom of Naples, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. Third St. The family suggests donations to St. Mark's or the Leukemia Society of America, 2990 E. Northern Ave., Phoenix, 85028.

AMADO, Elvira Jacobs, 92, of Tucson, passed away November 14, 1998. Preceded in death by husband, Alberto; brothers, Arturo, Eduardo Lee, Benjamin; sisters, Evelyn, Leova and granddaughter, Cathy Amado. Survived by daughters, Magda Amado-Kallmeyer, Bella Amanda (Phil) Philips; son, Albert M. Amado, Jr.; sisters, Isola Martinez, Leticia (Henry) Fuentes; brother, Alfonso (Licha) Jacobs. Also survived by son-in-law and friend, John L. Kallmeyer M.D. and by eight grandchildren, Pierre Amado, Michael Amado, Kim (Jon) Lipp, Kendall Kallmeyer, Kara (Steven) Montano, John Kallmeyer, Jr., Sofia Philips and Jason Philips; and by three great-grandchildren, Steven Montano, Adam Montano, Andrea Lipp. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 1998 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC., (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, November 19, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Elvira was the second daughter born to the pioneering families of JACOBS and CARRILLO. She was loved and will be missed. Rest in peace, dear mother. BOSTICK, Sudie Frances (Hohlenkamp), 87, died November 15, 1998. Survived by sons, Dennis (Sarah), and Roger (Marilee) Hohlenkamp; grandchildren, Carolyn Peak, Sandra Aspacher, Cheryl Austin, Steven, Wesley and Todd Hohlenkamp; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Herron. BOYD, Phyllis Jayne, 75, of Tucson, died Saturday, November 14, 1998. She is survived by her son, Michael. A lifelong resident of Tucson, Phyllis graduated from Tucson High School in 1941, the University of Arizona in 1945, was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, and retired from Child Protective Services as a Social Worker. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 1998 at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. Internment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. DOUGLAS, Albert M., 86, died November 15, 1998. Survived by his wife, Esther L. Douglas; children, Maryann (Duane) Miller, Margaret Ellen (Tom) Reed, Jimmy D. (Kaaren) and Stephen (Pam) Williams and Angela S. (Jim) Silverthorn; grandchildren, Kimberly DeVault, Brian DeVault, Dana Reed-Kane, David Reed, Cory, Wendy, Robert, Nicholos, Jennifer Williams and great-grandson, Tanner Williams; sisters, Virginia Hatley and Elizabeth Puller ofTN. Albert was a resident of Tucson for the past 46 years moving to Tucson from Tennessee. He was retired from Hughes Aircraft. Thelma Mary Jean Hunter - Born March 25, 1937, passed away November 11, 1998. Preceded in death by her husband, Johnny J. Hunter, Sr.; her mother, Erma Ward and her father, John Henry Jones, Sr., and stepfather, Howard Ward. Mary is survived by two aunts, Extra D. Coleman, Sally McDade; three uncles, Willie McDade, Dallas McDade and Lawson McDade, all of Jena, LA; two brothers, K.C. Jones and Richard Jones; sister-in-law, Charlene Jones, all of Jena, LA; two sons, Jamie Swann and J.J. Hunter; and one daughter, Johnnie Marie Hunter; one grandson, D'Avier Anderson and two granddaughters, Anissa and Africa Hunter, all of Tucson, AZ; and a host of family and friends. Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Avenue. MESSINA, Sarah, 98, died November 16, 1998. Preceded in death by her husband, Vincent J. Messina in 1968. She is survived by her children, Beatrice (William) Rice, Marie Caley, Benedict (Genevieve) Messina and Gloria Flowers; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. MORENO, Carlos R., 89, went to be with the Lord November 15, 1998. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Moreno; sons, Carlos, Jr. (Susan), Oscar (Maureen) and Edward Moreno; daughters, Terri (Pete) Palomarez, Lupe and Anna Lee (Tommy) Fogel; grandchildren, Peter, Paul, Desiree, Samantha, Tommy, Sonora and Sophia. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 1998 at South Lawn Mortuary, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery. Carlos is loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

PATZE, Georgia Ruth, 81, died November 14, 1998. Mother of Shirley (Carl) Kah, Dorothy Fernandez, Carol (Andrew) Adams, Richard (Julie) Patze, John (Liz) Patze, Bill (Kathleen) Patze and Robert Patze; 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and her very special friend, Elsa Patze also survive. Mrs. Patze was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Patze and son, Donald Wing. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 1998 at St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. SPEAR, Samuel R., age 26 years, of Tucson, died Saturday, November 14, 1998. He is survived by his parents, John and Cynthia Spear; brothers, Michael J., Richard Clay (Cindy), Glenn M. Spear; grandmother, Donna Dusenberry of Phx. and his fiance, Beth Paulsen. Funeral Service Wednesday, November 18, 1998, 4:30 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. TOTH, John F., 80, died November 9, 1998, at home in Tucson. Formerly of Brownsville, PA, John was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a B-24 Bombardier.Active in the Air Force Reserve, he served during the 1960's as a Liaison Officer for the Air Force Academy. He retired in 1982 as a Plant Controller for Allied-Signal in Newell, PA. He served on the Brownsville Hospital Board of Directors. He was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Ann, brother, Emery, and sister, Margaret. He is survived by wife, Irene; son, James. Funeral services were held at the Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, PA, on Friday, November 13. Burial was at St. Pius X Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, PA.

BLACKBURN, Virginia, 61, of Tucson, died November 17, 1998. Survived by sons, Ronald L. Blackburn and James W. Blackburn, Jr. both of Tucson; four sisters, Leona Fuerneisen of Leroy, MI, Harriett Shaw of Seattle, WA, Marie Danner of Tucson, Helena Wood of Phoenix and four grandchildren. CZAR, Joseph A., 80 of Tucson, died Friday, November 13, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle. Graveside services 2:30 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 1998 at South Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum, 5401 S. Park Avenue.

DENOMY, Urban A., 87, of Tucson, died November 16, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Isabelle; eight children including, Norma Monnig, Claire King, Gary Denomy, Lawrence Denomy and David Denomy, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be on Thursday, November 19, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Palms Cemetery with Father Mike Martinez officiating. Interment will follow. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd.

FREEDMAN, Harold 'Buddy' 70, of Tucson, died November 17, 1998. Loving companion, father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and all around great guy. Preceded in death by wife, Phyllis and parents, Arthur and Celia. Formerly of Philadelphia, PA, graduate of Central High School and Temple University. He served three years in the U.S. Army, was a real estate broker for more than 30 years in Chicago, IL, and Tucson, AZ. Many close and loving friends, including his golfing 'buddies' survive him. His adoring family includes his loving companion, Lee Segerman; children, Wendy (Mark) Avolio, Bruce (Susie) Freedman; brother, Mort (Myra) Freedman; grandchildren, Nicole Strauss, Mallary Avolio and Michael Brown; nieces, Hope Bryant, Beth (Greg) Beck, Lisa Freedman and nephew, David (Mindi) Freedman; grand nieces, Brooke McGinn, Amanda Beck and Carli Freedman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him; but never forgotten. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, with Rabbi Joseph Weizenbaum officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Emanu-El section of Evergreen Cemetery. Buddy's memory may be perpetuated by memorial contributions to Carondelet Hospice. Services conducted by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2425 N. Tucson Blvd. (1 1/2 blocks N. of Grant Rd.), 327-6341.

RAY DAILY GALLEGO was carried home by the angels to the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 15, 1998. Ray, known by many as 'Soup', was born April 18, 1917, and was a native Tucsonian and a member of the Pioneering Daily and Gallego families. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp. as an airplane mechanic and was decorated with the Medal of Victory. His profession in life was also in airplane mechanics. In his earlier years he had a great love for boxing and was instrumental in the capture of the infamous John Dillinger. His later years were spent as a faithful U of A Wildcat fan and a loving husband, friend and father. In spite of many physical problems and pain he never complained and always portrayed a positive attitude. His sense of humor, love of Jesus and zest for life will be remembered by all. Dad was a kindred, gentle soul whose grace and dignity were always apparent and he reminded us 'with faith you are everything, without you are nothing.' He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Stella Gallego; brother, Elmer Gallego; sister Martha 'Leila' Lopez and Stella Gallego. Survived by his loving wife, Norma Molina Gallego; daughters, Dianne Gallego, Stella Gallego Vega (Ramon); sons, Edward Rey Gallego (Terri), Charles Ray Gallego (Shirley), and Steven Roy Gallego (Joan) all of Tucson. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother, Eddie Gallego of Tucson; sister, Betty G.Lopez of California and many cousins including Darlene Felix (Fernando). Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 1998 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, November 20, 1998, 9:00 a.m.at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
