DODDS, Donald K., 75, died February 18, 1999. Survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Nancy (Larry) Caber, Jed (Camilla), Keith (Cindy), Dean and Donna Dodds; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services with American Legion Post #36 Military Honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 1999 at East Lawn Palms cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

MANGELS, Maymie E., passed away February 18, 1999 at the age of 94. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Eastside Assembly of God (Wilmot and 29th). Friends are warmly invited to say 'goodbye' from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.Sunday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Mrs. Mangels is survived by a son, Van and his wife, Lois Mangels of Rolla, KS; daughter, Lois Warner of Tucson. A son, Glenn Mangels preceded her in death on December 9, 1998 and her husband, Irven preceded her in death in 1981. Other surviving family is Glenn's wife, Ruth Mangels; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank her surgeon, her long time physician and her loving staff at Cascades Assisted Living, where she lived her last years and also the tremendous care from Carondelet Hospice.

McCULLOCH, William T., 58, beloved husband, Daddy and Pappa, went home to be with Jesus, February 19, 1999. Survived by wife, Kathleen; daughters, Kristin (Rich) Morris and Kerrin McCulloch; grandchildren, Jerad, Katie and Taryn Morris. Also survived by mother, father-in-law, son, brothers and sisters, brother and sister-in-law, nephews and the body of Christ at El Camino Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23 at El Camino Baptist Church, 7777 E. Speedway. Interment East Lawn Palms cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Music Fund at El Camino Baptist Church.

RADFORD, Elizabeth S., age 78, of Oshkosh, WI and formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed to her eternal reward on Thursday, February 18, 1999 at her home after a long illness. She was born on June 29, 1920 in Liepzig, Saskatchewan, Canada; the daughter of Leopold and Catherine Freuen Kaufmann. Her family arrived in Oshkosh when Elizabeth was two years old. She attended school in Oshkosh, graduating from St. Peter High School.
In 1944 Elizabeth moved to Tucson, AZ where she met and married her husband of 50+ years, Joseph Radford. She was employed as a telephone receptionist fort he following Tucson area hospitals: Tucson Medical Center; St. Mary's Hospital; and St. Joseph Hospital. Elizabeth was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Churchin Oshkosh and St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Choir in Tucson, AZ.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph of Oshkosh; one son, George (Susan) Radford of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Patrick Radford of Smyrna, GA, Lisa Soto of Tucson, AZ, Jason Radford of Tucson, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Christina and Tony Soto both of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, Denis and Jake (Genieve) Kaufmann both of Oshkosh; two sisters, Sister Catherine Kaufmann of Oshkosh, Sister Leopold Kaufmann of Sinsinawa, WI.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Bell; and one brother, Tony Kaufmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh with Rev. Martin Fox officiating. Burial will follow the services at Riverside cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Poklasny Funeral Home where a rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth's family requests that memorials be made to the Sinsinawa Dominicans. Arrangements by Poklasny Funeral Home, Oshkosh, WI.

SEIDEMAN, Ralph John, age 87, of Tucson, passed away February 16, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Corazon; and children, Darryl, Larry, John, Michael, and Sarah. Funeral Services will be held 9:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Avenue. Interment Holy Hope cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday, February 21, 1999 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

WILSON, Nina, 89, of Tucson, died February 19, 1999. She is survived by husband, Edward and son, Earl E. of California. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 1999 at South Lawn cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider.

SIMON ESCALANTE ORTIZ
February 18, 1916 – February 20, 1998
In memory of Simon E. Ortiz who left his beloved wife, Jessie, and sons, Mike (Mary), Ernest (Mary Helen) and Victor (Jeanne); nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving sister, Mary Cook; brother, Rodolpho. preceded in death by his parents, the late Teresa Escalante and Cipriano Ortiz; brothers, Jesus, Felix and Cipriano. Mr. Ortiz was one of the first Mexican-American to hold an A.C.C. permit in Arizona. In the late 1940s' along with his father and brothers ran Ortiz Trucking. He also worked at one of the first Missile sites south of Tucson. Upon his retirement he transferred his license to his sons as Ortiz Brothers Trucking. His sons and grandsons have followed his footsteps in various trades of trucking.

CORELLA, Sarah A. (Mamake) August 31, 1932, Entered into rest on Friday, February 19, 1999. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro A. Corella. Survived by her brother, Leonard Mamake; sister-in-law, Sophia (Vicente) Sierra; children, Alex (Barbara), Ralph (Rosie), Yvonne (Larry), Daniel, Annette (Celso), Michael (Sharon), Edward (Carolyn), Amy (Dale), and Lisa. She enjoyed all of her 35 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Sarah leaves numerous relatives and close friends. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 1999 at 6594 S. Mission with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. at San Xavier Church. Burial immediately following. Arrangement by CARRILLO' S TUCSON MORTUARY INC.

FRANZEN, Beth, 15, went to be with the Lord February 20, 1999. She was loved and will be missed terribly by so many. Beth is survived by her loving parents, Dottie and Keith Tucker; her father, Norman Franzen; brother, Norman, 16; and her sisters, Brittany, 9, and Julie, 21. Beth was a true angel on earth. She encompassed courage, kindness and compassion. Even through her pain and suffering, those who met her were enlightened by her love and were forever touched by her spirit and strength. She was a beam of light that illuminated the lives of all that crossed her path. Special thanks to all of those who have provided support through the years to the family, especially Commercial Federal, Fraternal Order of Police, members of Faith Community Church, and Cholla Pediatrics. Donations may be sent to Make a Wish Foundation in Phoenix, who were also extremely generous. Thank you Lord for sharing her with us. We wanted more time with her, but she is with you now. Beth will be an inspiration to us all, through her life and in her death. Friends may call at Faith Community Church, 2551 W. HELTON, Raymond E., 64, of Sahuarita, AZ., died February 19, 1999. Ray retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1991. Survived by wife, Loretta; children, Marietta (Richard) Pawlicki, Kenneth Raymond Helton, Jack (Christina) Helton, Patricia Faye (Jose) Martinez, Angela Marie (Alan) Boyle; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Ted Helton; sisters, Beatrice Laskovich, Jacqueline Mueller, Sue Goldsberry, Wilma Jean Castle, and Frances Laskovich. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an after care provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms cemetery.

LUKE, Edgar Rae, 94, a native of Preston, Mississippi. Beloved husband of the late Betty Pearl Luke. Loving father of Beverly J. Dempsey of Olathe, Kansas, and the late Donald Rae Luke. Dear brother of Argie Luke of Mississippi. Cherished grandfather of five and great-grandfather of 14. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Edgar was a retired police officer of Detroit, Michigan. He served in the Petosky and the Schaeffer Stations until retirement and then became an employee of the Henry Ford Hospital. He then went on to work for the Bill Brown Ford Dealership. Edgar was a member of the Detroit Police Officers Association and the Tuebor Masonic Lodge. After moving to Tucson, Arizona, Edgar became involved with the Road Runners, an association of Retired Police Officers. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Detroit Police Officers Widow and Orphans Fund, 400 Monroe St. Ste #490, Detroit, Michigan 48226-9742 or the Stockton Police Officers Widow and Orphans Fund. METCALFE, Eileen F., formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday February 19, 1999 in Tucson. She was born March 28, 1921, in Charleroi, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1961 and her eldest son John in 1996. She is survived by her children, Joanne (with children Charles and Tim), Kevin (with wife Linda and children Debbie, Mary Beth, Kevin, Patrick, and Katie), Eileen, Maureen (and partner Katherine), Patrick (with wife Shannon and children Michael, Brendan and Caroline) and Jim, and grandson, Jack W. Metcalfe. She also leaves six great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Claire O'Conner. Mrs. Metcalfe lived in the Pittsburgh area until 1985 when she retired from Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. She had worked at the hospital for 25 years. She was librarian and past member of the Board of Governors of the Irish Centre of Pittsburgh. Visitation will be Monday February 22, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME AVALON CHAPEL, 8090 N. Northern Ave. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday February 23, 1999, 9:00 a.m. at St. Odilia's Church, 7570 N. Paseo del Norte. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to the Free Care Fund, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, 3705 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

PEDRAZA, Rumaldo L. (Ray), 72 of Tucson passed away February 20, 1999. Survived by wife, Maria Pedraza; daughters, Yolanda (Heriberto) Lee, Alice (Mark) Villegas; sons, Frank (Loretta) Pedraza, Ray (Lupita) Pedraza, Jesse Pedraza, Raul (Syvia) Pedraza. Also survived by three sisters and three brothers and 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (SOUTH CHAPEL), 240 S. Stone Ave. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. He was loved and will be missed. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY INC.

SMEDLEY, John C., passed away February 19, 1999., was born in Marion, Ohio, May 28, 1928 to Harold B. Smedley and Esther A. Smedley. John is survived by his wife of 45 years Betty; children, Edward Smedley (Susan), John, Jr. (Carol), Leslie Fleeman (Davis); grandchildren, Morgan, Brian, John III, Jason, Cooper and three great-grandchildren. During World War II and Korean War he served with the United States Marine Corp in the Air Division. Owned and operated The Smedley Trucking Company. A lifetime member of The National Rifle Association. Enjoyed a life long love of airplanes. His ability to tell a good story was always welcome to those that enjoyed hearing them. In his retirement he loved to help his grandchildren do all things mechanical such as making their bikes work properly and make old VW's run. A private Family Service was held with cremation following. Remembrances can be made to The Pima Air Museum, 6000 E. Valencia, Tucson, AZ 85706 in memory of John C. Smedley.

VOLLMER, Wilbert R. 'Red', 74, died February 20, 1999 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by his wife, Catherine; son, Stephen (Rita) Vollmer; and daughter Debora Vollmer; grandchildren Michael and Holly Vollmer; brother, George Vollmer. Red retired from The Keystone Steel and Wire Co. in Peoria, IL. Was a lay minister of visitation at The 1st Baptist Church of Pekin, IL. Served with the U.S. Air Force during WWII. A member of the El Camino Baptist Church, 7777 E. Speedway Blvd. where Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 1999. Memorial contributions may be made In Memory of 'Red', to El Camino Baptist Church Organ Fund. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider. Inurnment and Services will be in IL at a later date.

William B. Bedard, 85, of Glendale, AZ, born in Chicago, IL, died February 16, 1999. Survivors include sons, William B. Bedard, Jr., Terry C. Bedard, Ronald F. Bedard; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 W. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. BOXER, Katherine 'Kaye' Miriam, died suddenly February 21, 1999. She was born June 15, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Sam; son, Michael (Betsy); grandchildren, Abby and Alexander, all of Tucson; son, Jeffrey of Los Angeles; sister, Pearl (Phillip) Silverstein of NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Phillip Berkowitz. She attended City College of New York. Kaye lived her adult life in Pittsfield, MA and was active in the Berkshire Art Museum and the Boston Symphony summer home at Tanglewood. She worked many years with her husband at the Stratton Coat Co. Kaye and Sam moved to Tucson in 1983 where she became actively involved with theTucson Symphony Orchestra. Kaye was loved by many for her kindness and understanding heart. She was a member of Congregation Anshei Israel. Services are today, Tuesday, 12:00 noon, February 23rd, EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. Family suggests contributions in memory of Kaye may be made to Congregation Anshei Israel, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.

COCHRAN, Faith A., 58, beloved wife and mother passed away February 20, 1999. Survived by husband, Baker; daughters, Andrea and Cynthia; grandchildren, Alexandria, Christian and Louis. Also survived by her father, Erwin. Faith was a master gardener, if she found a seed, she could make it grow. An animal lover, she achieved national recognition for her Cornish Rex Cats which she bred and showed. Her photography, painting and needlework were expressions of her artistic talent. We will miss her smile and wit. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway followed by a graveside service at Desert Vista cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes. Donations in Faith's memory may be made to The Arthritis Foundation, 6464 E. CONEY, Peter James, 69, died February 20, 1999 in Tucson after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; son, Michael and daughter, Marian. Peter retired in May from the University of Arizona Dept. of Geosciences after a full and productive life of teaching and research throughout the world. No services will be held. Arrangements by HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

GRABOSKI, Gladys R., 97 years old, died February 18, 1999 in Tucson. Born on September 25, 1901 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Mrs. Graboski was married to Philip Blake in 1920 who died in 1953. She married Erwin Graboski in 1947. Survived by her husband, Erwin Graboski of Tucson; three daughters, Donna Shelquist of Casa Grande, AZ, Barbara Hughes of Tucson, AZ and Ellen Hiatt of Ottumwa, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. preceded in death by one son, Philip. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Wolfrey Peace Chapel, 5225 E. Speedway, Reverend Rick Lemberg officiating.
