MONTANO, Aurelio, born April 10, 1910, passed away March 30, 1999 at his home. preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Montano. Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law.Originally from New Mexico he is survived by daughters, Augustina (Bob) Richardson and Mackie (Lorenzo) Torres; sons, John (Toni) Montano, Jose (Frances) Montano and Gabriel (Susan) Montano. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Monicas Church, 212 W. Medina and Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Monica's Church. Interment in South Lawn cemetery. The family would like to thank Tucson Medical Center Hospice for their help and compassion shown to our father. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

NIMTZ, Bernard L., 74, of Tucson, died March 31, 1999. Husband of Bessie of Tucson; brother of Wilma Rosentreter of Michigan; uncle of Diana L. Crane of Tucson. Funeral service Friday, April 2, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Philip Koelpin of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial to follow in TMP Southlawn cemetery. Visitation Friday, April 2, 1999 from 8:00 a.m. until service time at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave. (888-1111).

GRACIE EVA AUTREY, 79, of Tucson, passed away March 30, 1999. Born February 16, 1920 in Karnes City, Texas, she married Donald Archie Autrey in 1938, in Heavner, OK. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Archie; daughter, Eva L. (Dick) Feagan of Tooele, UT, Roberta J. (Dale) Manning of Tucson, Donald R. (Kathy) Autrey of Tucson; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Horace Nelson of OK; sisters, Stella Bowers and Zetta Stavely, both of TX; sister, Flora Brown of OK, plus a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held at South Lawn cemetery, Friday at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carondelet Hospice.

MARGARETE S. BALDWIN, age, 50, of Hereford, AZ, died Monday, March 29, 1999.
The daughter of Mr and Mrs. Harvey Landis, of Waukegan, IL. She attended Waukegan Township High School and completed 1 year of college at Eastern Illinois University. In 1967 she wed Edward Fransis Baldwin of Lake Forest, IL. They have since been together for 32 wonderful years of life.
She is survived by her best friend and devoted husband, Edward F. Baldwin; and her four loving children, Brooke Roselle of Tucson, Bryan Baldwin of Oklahoma City, OK, Jennifer DeVries of Romeoville, IL and Edward F. Baldwin, Jr. of Oakland, CA. In addition her parents, Margarete and Harvey Landis of Waukegan, IL; her brothers and sisters, Richard Schwarz, Randy Schwarz, Catherine Alden, James Landis and Janice Solesby. Also all of her loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Schwarz; and one brother, Robert Schwarz.
Margarete's quick wit and sense of humor sparked contagious smiles. Throughout her illness her smile never disappeared. She touched the hearts of so many people and she will never be forgotten.
She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, ballooning, her mountain home in Hereford, AZ, listening to music, knitting and reading.
She was a wonderful mother, who in her spare time volunteered many hours in the Tucson Public Schools. Her volunteer efforts led her to a most recent job of office manager of Coronado Elementary School in Sierra Vista. She had to leave her job of which she loved so much, to move along with her husband to Houston, TX, where she lived August of 98 to March of 99. Fighting her courageous battle against cancer.
Margarete believed that 'It's possible to move a mountain…by carrying small stones…'. One day at a time carrying small stones she in fact did move a mountain. The mountain of Peace.
Memorial services will be held at Hatfields', 830 S. Highway 92, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with service immediately following.

DUGAN, Kenneth W. Jr., died Tuesday, March 30, 1999 at UMC Hospital. He was born June 8, 1958 in Beaver Falls, PA, moved to Tucson, AZ in 1963. Survived by mother, Edna Ruby Riley; sons, Kennethand John Dugan both of Cortez, CO; one daughter, Tabitha Dugan of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, Patrick and Kelly both of Tucson, AZ; four sisters, Dixie (Robert) Ward of Sahuarita, AZ, Rebecca Dugan of Tucson, Tracy Brown of Colorado Springs and Heather Dugan of Cortez; grandchildren, Dylan and Jonathan both of Cortez. Memorial Service will be held at the Lord Word, 3602 S. 12th Ave., 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 1999.

STEVEN C. LITTELL
1-1-42 to 3-30-99
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 30, 1999 at his home, Steven C. Littell, age 57, lost his two year battle with prostate cancer.
In his eclectic career, Steven was an entrepreneur in many fields including construction and farming, and had served in military intelligence. He was a passionate motorcyclist, having rode throughout his entire life. He raced professionally as a younger man and in his later years toured all over the USA.
He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for five years. Previously he was very involved with a local charitable organization, The Centurians.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; son, Steve Cary Littell, Jr. (Jonathan); daughter, Jennie Littell Blacker (Jonathan); stepdaughter, Emilie Dean and granddaughter, Kelsey Blacker; brother, Carlton S. Littell (Tish); sister, Lisa Littell and loyal dog, Abby.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 1999 at 12:30 p.m. at the Johrei Center, 3919 E. River (at Alvernon), followed by a celebration of Steve's life at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, Steven requested donations be made in his name either to Patient Advocates for Advanced Cancer Treatments (PAACT), P.O. Box 14165, Grand Rapids, MI 49514 or AA/Tucson Area InterGroup, 840 S. Campbell, Tucson, AZ 85719. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

MARTINEZ, Esther G., 76, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on March 29, 1999. preceded in death by husband, Ygnacio Martinez; son, Francisco Martinez; grandson, Lucio Sauri. Survived by daughters, Elva (Mario) Hoyos, Patricia (Ernesto) and Leticia Martinez, Esther (Martin) Felix, Teresa (Lauro) Sauri and Maria Esther Mendivil; daughter-in-law, Joanie; sons, Luis (Debbie) Ahumada, Samuel (Jessie) Rosthenhausler, David (Jane) and Isidro Martinez and Natividad Gonzales; brother, Ruben (Sara) Killsworth; godmother, Mary Wissar; grandsons, Terrace Russell and Rafael Alvarez. Also survived by 40 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 05, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday, April 06, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Church, 602 N. Ajo Way. Interment to follow in Tubac, Arizona. Mrs. Martinez leaves behind many beloved sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces and friends. Arrangements by Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, Inc.

PORTO, Manny, 58, died March 31, 1999. Deeply loved by daughters, Diana Buttle and Dina Anderson; five grandchildren, Jesse, Jared, Paige, Josh and Zachary; sister, Barbara Leonard; and many, many friends and family. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, April 3, 1999, 1:00 p.m. at Thirsty's, 2422 N. Pantano Road.
He will be deeply missed.

ROGERS, William 'Bill' Joseph, 45, of Tucson, died March 29, 1999. Bill was a loving husband of 22 years to his wife, Jody; (Tennyson); a devoted father to his children, Melissa, Amanda, Andrew, Trina, Amber and Shantel; a caring brother of Don (Fran) and Shirley (Scott) Mundell and beloved uncle to 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Pearland his sister, Mary Lynne. Bill was a native of Tucson and worked as a floor covering specialist for 25 years and owned his own business. He was a loyal volunteer for many youth programs. Special moments that were shared with family and friends will remain treasured forever. He will be greatly missed. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, Monday, April 5, 1999 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Walter Bufford Ward born September 15, 1928 in Montgomery, Alabama, died March 31, 1999 in Tucson. preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lela and daughters, Teresa Ward and Susanne Becker. Beloved husband of Dorothy; father of Maya Aubrey (David) of Santa Fe, Carolyn Chrismer (Mark), Michael Ward (Mary) and David, all of Tucson, Robin Becker of CA and grandfather of Melissa, Nicole, Summar, Jessica and Evan. He was retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sgt in 1973 after 26 of honorable service including tours in Viet Nam. He continued to dedicate many years of service to VFW Post 549 as post commander, bingo chairman, Honor Order of Military Order of the Cooties, member of the Color Guard and a star member of their bowling league and Veteran's Soft Ball League. He was also a member of American Legion Post 36, DAV #2, and an honorary Seabees. Services will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Officiating will be Post 549 Chaplain Harvey Pritchett with military honors by 549 Ritual Team and Southern Arizona Honor Guard.

AWTREY, Genevieve L., 75, of Lakeside, AZ., born September 19, 1923, went to be with her Lord on March 29, 1999. Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Jess; children, Jess Jr., Dan (Bethel), James Karl (Lora); 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma Howell of Oregon, plus a host of relatives and friends. A loving, dedicated wife and mother, Genevieve was an accomplished pianist and organist and a faithful church member. Friends may call at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an aftercare provider, 5401 S. Park Ave., Sunday, April 4 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, Monday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at South Lawn cemetery.

BRUN, Bonnie Jane, 45, of Tucson, AZ passed away March 29, 1999. Survived by daughters, Diane (Kevin) Reposa, Melisa (Dave) Ingalls; grandchildren, Tifany and Justin Reposa, Kayla and Brandon Ingalls; boyfriend, Richard Hoffman and mother, Martha Brewer and lots of friends. Arrangements made by DESERT ROSE CREMATION AND BURIAL.

CRANE, Thomas, 84, of Tucson, passed away April 1, 1999. Survivors include his wife, Marian; children, Alice and Kathleen; one brother, Peter; plus nieces and nephews. Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an Aftercare provider.

HAINES, Howard P., 78, died April 1, 1999. Survived by his wife, Marjorie; sons, Paul (Linda) and Mark Haines; four grandchildren. Howard was a resident of Tucson for 55 years. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 3, 1999 at the Church of Christ, Country Club Rd. Congregation, 145 N. Country Club Rd., Hugh DeLong officiating. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an Aftercare provider.

TRANSUE, Dolores C., died March 6, 1999 at the age of 94. Predeceasing her were her husband in 1972 and son in 1950. Born in Peoria, IL in 1905, she was a long time resident of Washington, D.C. where she worked for 30 years at the Dept. of Interior. Dolores and her husband moved to Tucson in 1966 and she became active in community affairs, especially through the Women's Club. She served on the Board in several capacities, starting in 1967 as Recording Secretary and in 1974 she was elected 2nd Vice President. Since 1986 she was a resident of Villa Campana Retirement Community. Dolores is survived by her sister, Dorothy Gnodde and nephew, Dirk Gnodde, both of Hinsdale, IL.

A Memorial Mass will be held to celebrate her life and the gifts she shared with the community on Tuesday, April 6 at 5:30PM at the Newman Catholic Student Center, 1615 E. Second St., (corner of 2nd & Cherry). Sr. Kathleen served the Newman Catholic community from 1991-1997. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Newman Catholic Center Scholarship Fund.
