DEEMER, Raymond, 59, departed, Thursday, May 27, 1999 of heart failure. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda; parents, Walter R. and Anna Deemer; and brother, Anthony. He is survived by daughters, Rae Jean, Deborah, and Danielle; grandson, Jeremy; granddaughters, Christina, Chasitie, and Tiffany; and brothers, William F. and Michael L. Memorial service at Victory Assembly of God, 2561 W. Ruthrauff Road, Tucson, AZ 85705 on Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 3:00 p.m.

JAMES-HOLLIS, Marie H. (Arthur), a former resident of Blackwell and Ponca City, OK, died May 27, 1999 in Tucson, AZ. Marie was the daughter of Martin Van Buren Arthur and Ethel Hunt-Arthur. She was born in Kingfisher, OK on September 30, 1911. Her early years were spent in Kingfisher and Cyril, OK, where she met and married Clyde L. James on September 15, 1934. They had four daughters. Clyde and Marie moved to Blackwell in 1942. In 1958 they moved to Ponca City where they were managers of the American Legion Hut on South Avenue. Clyde died in 1970 and in 1971 Marie moved to Tucson. While living in Tucson, Marie met and married Emett Hollis. Emett preceded Marie in death. Survivors include a sister, Bessie Mae Clark; brother, Ted Arthur, both of Tulsa, OK; four daughters, Zella Izzo, Doris (Al) Harris, both of Tucson, Harlene (Claud) Sinor and Sharlene (Stan) Hollis, both of Ponca City. Nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and eight nephews also survive. Marie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all that knew and loved her. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows cemetery in Ponca City under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. A Graveside Service is being planned with Rev. Charles Heyer, associate minister at First Christian Church officiating.

KOPF, John E., died May 27, 1999 at Tucson Medical Center. He was 68. John was a man who was extremely strong in his Christian faith, who was always a very giving person, and a very hard worker. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a member of the 101st Airborne Div. He and his family moved here from their native Indiana in 1968. John will forever be remembered by his daughter, Colleen Bushell of Tucson; son, Nickolas R. Kopf of Tucson; brother, Daniel of Indiana; sisters, Rosemary and Pat of Indiana; grandsons, James Edward and Nicholas Eugene Kopf, and Forrest Aaron Artz; and beloved friends, Lois and Sherrell Rust of Missouri. The family will have a private burial service. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES.

LARSEN, Edgar M., 86, died May 28, 1999. He was the loving husband of Sue Larsen; the devoted father of Ed, Jr. (Stephanie), George (Margaret), and Kristin; and the gentle grandfather of Bryn and Olivia. Ed was born in Chicago in 1912 and was a homebuilder and Realtor in Chicago, Phoenix, and Tucson. He was active in the Traveler's Protective Association, becoming State President in Illinois and Arizona, and the National President of TPA in 1978.His marriage to Sue for 64 years and his dedication to his family were the accomplishments most treasured by those of us that loved him and were loved by him in return. He lived a good and worthy life, and we will miss our Papa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Southern Arizona Chapter. Family and friends are invited to gather in Edgar's memory from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 1999 at 100 N. Camino Miramonte St. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, (Dodge Chapel).

Daniel Lee 'Danny' Mack, 20, of Tucson, died suddenly May 27, 1999. After graduating from Flowing Wells High School, Danny attended Pima College and worked for Gavi's Restaurant. Danny loved his job and felt at home amidst the soccer decor. He loved and played soccer his whole life. Danny was a true friend who extended his kindness and generosity to everyone! Danny is now safe and reunited with his brother, Mikey. He is survived by his parents, Donald G. and Elizabeth Mack; brother, Nathan, all of Tucson; maternal grandfather, Richard Hostetter of York, PA; paternal grandmother, Betty Mack of Tucson; many uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends who are as family. Service to be held Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at 10:30 a.m., Casas Adobes Baptist Church, 2131 W. Ina Road, with Pastor Dane Miller, Serenity Baptist Church and Eric Abrams officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Hope cemetery. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery.

WETHERN, Charles L., Jr., 51, of Tucson, died May 28, 1999. Son of Rita Wethern of St. Paul, MN. Father of Terry and Chris. Brother of Lori Ehle of Tucson, Stephen and Michael Wethern, both of MN. Best friend of Marjorie Purcell. Memorial Service Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave. (888-1111). HFSH ABNF.

WOOTEN, Dorothy H., of Tucson, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, May 27, 1999. preceded in death by husband of 55 years, Dr. Henry W. Wooten. Survived by sons, Dwight (Linda) Wooten of Kuttawa, KY and Rudy (Janice) Wooten of Creston, CA; daughter, Janet (Gary) Shrader of Tucson; sister, Bennie Vaughn of Wingo, KY; grandchildren, Keith, Micah and Elliott Shrader, Wayne (Melayne) Wooten, Steve (Kelli) Wilkins, Elaine (Mark) Jansen, Carrie (Jim) Vucasovich, and Jason Timmons; great grandchildren, Jonah, Sarah, Dylan, Rhys, Jessica and Zachary. Her faith was an inspiration to all her family and friends. Service Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Interment to follow Evergreen cemetery. ZUCARELLI, Samuel Harry, 72, died May 26, 1999. Father of Diane (Butch) Wilson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Donald (Cyndee) Zucarelli of Tucson; brother of Connie (Jack) Neal of Tucson; and Rose (Camille) Lootans of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; brothers, Nick Butera and Frank Zucarelli; and sister, Millie Antrim. He lived in Tucson for 40 years and was a retired Real Estate Broker. Graveside Service 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at TMP East Lawn cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

ASHLEY, William (Billy) Frank, 52, of Tucson, died Thursday, May 27, 1999. He is survived by two sons, Robert Ashley, of Germany, William Ashley, of Virginia; one granddaughter, Amanda Marie Ashley, of Virginia; and three sisters, Bonnie (Kagler) Spivey, of Tucson and two whom reside out of town. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements made by SOUTH LAWN cemetery, an aftercare provider.

ROBERT D. ALTESE 'BOB', born March 21, 1943, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on May 28, 1999. He was born in Manhattan, New York and moved to Tucson in 1972. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela; daughters, Nicole and Danielle; his mother, Theresa; sister, Ann Biegler; and was preceded in death by his father Rocco. Bob was employed by Monterey Homes and was recognized many times as sales representative of the year. A gentle and compassionate man with a lust for live and an immense love for his family. He brought us joy and laughter. A man who found beauty in everything he touched. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2nd, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott Ave. Prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3rd, at the chapel. Internment will be private. CAROL ARNOLD-BUVIK, 37 of Tucson was taken from her family and friends by a senseless murder on May 22, 1999. Carol was born on June 12, 1961 in Mt. Home, Idaho. Carol is survived by her father, older brother and two younger sisters. Carol attended and graduated from Sahuaro High School in 1979. She worked for First Interstate Bank for 12 years before working at Mileage Plus as a customer service rep. This is a great loss for our family and she will be dearly missed. A special thanks to all our friends and their support during our difficult time. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 9:00 a.m., at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Road.

HUDSON, Edna E., went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 1999. She leaves to miss her presence her children, Darrell Peoples and Tanisha King; sisters, Jodene Graham and Barbara Russell; brothers, Dan Russell and Dwight Russell; an aunt, Josie Jones; four grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may call at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, (Dodge Chapel), 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), on Wednesday, June 2, 1999 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place at Grace Temple Baptist Church, 1019 E. 31st, on Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. D. Grady Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in South Lawn cemetery.

TIMMERMANN, Frances Marie, was born September 2, 1906, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Wilhelm and Anna Hahn Timmermann. She died in Tucson, AZ on May 30, 1999 and as the last survivor of the Timmermann's eight children. Miss Timmermann was educated in Burlington schools and at University of Chicago She was among the earliest certified medical laboratory technicians in the U.S., and was employed at an Evanston, Ill. Hospital until she moved to Tucson in 1970. She served in a supervisory position at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary Clinic in Tucson until her retirement. Timmy as a breeder of Schnauzer show dogs and also was an avid golfer. For many years she spent the summer in the Show Low area. Known for her sharp wit, her sense of humor and her independent nature, she made many friends during her 92 years. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of Community of Hope Lutheran Church, and it was Timmy's desire that any contributions in her memory be made to the church. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Community of Hope Lutheran Church, 3141 W. Ironwood Hills, with Pastor David M. Drum officiating. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery.

VARIN, Anita Margaret, 78, died May 29, 1999. Survived by sons, Roland, (Patricia) Varin, Raymond Varin both of Tucson, Rogers Varin of Vermont; sister, Eva (Raymond) Reno also of Vermont; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3rd at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road. Entombment will follow at Holy Hope Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 2nd at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with scripture service at 7:00 p.m. In her memory, Anita's Family suggest memorial contributions to the Parkinson's or Alzheimer's Associations.

ANTHONY, John Williams (Jr.), Pharm. D., died May 26, 1999, in Tucson. He was born in Tucson, September 8, 1949, and was graduated from Rincon High School, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California, where he earned his doctorate in pharmacy. He is preceded in death by his father, John Williams Anthony, Ph.D., and is survived by his mother, Arline Anthony Bateman; brother, Ryan; and sister, Doris Anthony Bastiampillai. Memorial services have not been announced. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.

BURY-WELTY, Doris A. (Mrs. Walter A. Bury), died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 30, 1999, in her home at Santa Catalina Villas, Tucson. She moved from Minneapolis to Tucson in September 1998. Mrs. Welty-Bury was born in Oakland, IA on June 6, 1913, the daughter of George and Frances (Mills) Anderson. She graduated from Oakland High School and held a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa). She taught in a one-room country school near Oakland and then moved to Shenandoah, IA, where she taught in the elementary schools. In 1937 she was married to Paul Bright Welty, a member of one of Shenandoah's founding families. He established a successful insurance and real estate business and was a leader in community activities. Paul and Doris Welty raised four children in Shenandoah, all of whom survive her; two daughters, Miriam (Charles) Trangsrud of Winnetka, IL and Harriet (Philippe) Rochefort of Paris, France; two sons, John Welty of Tucson and Ward (Jane) Welty of Huntsville, AL. She is also survived by three grandsons, Ryan Welty, Benjamin and David Rochefort. Mr. Welty preceded her in death in 1961. In 1968 she was married to Walter M. Bury of Minneapolis, MN, where she lived from 1968 to 1998. Mr. Bury was a partner in Ernst and Whinney (now Ernst & Young), died in 1985. In addition to Mr. Welty and Mr. Bury, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Max M. in 1961 and Robert E. Anderson in 1994. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis and The Women's Club of Minneapolis. Needlepoint was one of her hobbies. She was a member of the church's Plymouth Needlers group and participated in creating the 16' by 26' needlepoint hangings that decorate the church's Guild Hall.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 4, 1999 at Casas Adobes Congregational Church, 6801 N. Oracle Rd., Dr. David Smith, officiating. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home, Shenandoah, IA. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery, Shenandoah. A memorial service will be held later in Minneapolis, MN. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Plymouth Congregational Church (1900 Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, 55403) or to the Community Outreach Fund of the Woman's Club of Minneapolis (410 Oak Grove St., Minneapolis, 55403). Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 885-6741, an aftercare provider.

GIRLUS, Anthony J., 93, of Tucson and Rock Island, IL, died Monday, May 31, 1999. Services 10:00 a.m., Thursday, St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Wheelan Funeral Home Rock Island. Memorials to the church or St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa. Survivors include a son and two grandchildren.

HULTGREN, Mary Ellen, 54, of Tucson, passed away May 30, 1999. Survived by husband, Leland Hultgren; children, John (Kalee) Campagne, Kimberly (Matthew) Goebel, Kristine Catterton, Robert (Michelle) Campagne, Gregory Campagne, all of AZ, Kathleen (Vince) Auriemma of CO, Karrie Hultgren, AZ, Mark (Peggi) Hultgren of CT, Jennifer Hultgren, Washington, DC; seven grandchildren; mother, Marion T. Heffernan, AZ; sisters, Sherri Hawley of OR, Ki (Neal Chung) MiChele, HI; brothers, Joel (Denise) Heffernan, NH, Neil (Wendy) Heffernan, Timothy (Shirlene) Heffernan of AZ. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and went on to receive her Masters. From January 1991 to the present she dedicated herself in educating the students at Apollo Middle School. University Honors and Activities included, Phi Theta Kappa, Pi Lambda Theta, Honorary Dean's List and Dean's Honor List. Funeral service 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 4, at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Desert, All Faiths Memorial Park, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the individuals chosen Cancer Society.

JENNINGS, Donald Gregory, entered this life on September 26, 1941 with his journey ending on May 25, 1999 due to a tragic accident. Don is preceded by his parents, Walter and Gladys Jennings from Toledo, Ohio where he was born and raised. He leaves behind his wife, Susan and son, Troy both of Tucson, as well as, sister, Carolyn Hogle of Toledo, niece, Vonda Hogle, nephew, Kevin Hogle, mother-in-law, Syble Gillmore and his ex-wife and good friend Tricia Helfrich and her daughter, Tiffany. Don had many people that cared for and loved him, including his best friend R. Hammer. For more than 24 years he was employed by Hughes Aircraft/Raytheon as a Journeyman Machinist and a Tool and Die Maker. Don will be missed very much by all.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, located at 3435 N. 1st Ave. (between Ft. Lowell & Prince Rds.)

KRAEMER, Lillian Hoey, born February 9, 1924 in Chicago, moved to Phoenix in 1947. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Morgan of Phoenix and Karen Steinbronn of Tucson; grandchildren, Randy Morgan and Valerie and Stephanie Steinbronn. Visitation, June 2, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mercer Chapel, 1541 E. Thomas Rd. Graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Lawn, June 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions to Arizona Lund Association, 102 W. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85003.
