TUNKS, Donald Dean, 64, died July 11, 1999. Beloved husband of Bonnie Jean Tunks; beloved father of Dawn R. (Timothy) Schutte, Heather L. (Ferdinand) Henss and Deanna J. Tunks; beloved grandfather of Ashley, Baeley, Christopher Schutte and Nikolai Henss; beloved brother of Lawrence (Sadie) Tunks. Also survived by two nieces and two cousins. preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Mabel Tunks; and a brother, Sherman. Donald was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Past President of the Rotary Club of Greencastle, IN. He had worked as Assistant Manager of Buck's Exxon, First and River Road. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 1999. Entombment to follow at East Lawn Palms cemetery.

BLAS M. VALENZUELA, 71, of Tucson passed away July 9, 1999. Survived by wife, Berenice Valenzuela; daughter, Yvonne (David) Romero; son, Val Antonio Valenzuela and Daniel (Mary) Valenzuela; sister, Aida (Arturo) Alvarez; brother, David (Hortencia) Valenzuela; also survived by grandchildren, Selena, Anthony, David V. and Tyler (T.R.). Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary Inc. (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Friday, July 16, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Covey of Mesa, AZ, Russell A. Covey of Tucson; sister, Patricia D. Fox of San Jose, CA; three aunts, one uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Max Covey and her grandparents. She was an executive secretary at Raytheon. Memorial service 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. EDWIN H. JOHNSON, 78, died July 13, 1999. Husband of Mildred Johnson; father of Edwin (Rose) H. Johnson, Jr. of Tucson and Clinton (Paulette) Johnson of San Jose, CA; grandfather of Karen Spieker of Tucson, Carra Johnson and Celeste Vanagas both of San Jose, CA; great-grandfather of Tatiana Vanagas of San Jose, CA, Michael and Michelle Spieker of Tucson. Edwin was born in New York and served in the Italian Campaign during WWII. He owned two McDonald franchises in California until he retired in 1985, to Tucson. Memorial service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Foundation, 40 N. Swan #116, Tucson, Arizona 85711.

LAGEMANN, Brett Martin, 46, of Tucson, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Carroll Lagemann; brother, Chris Lagemann; sisters, Kit Peterman, Laurie Lagemann, Nan Lagemann; three nieces and three nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 1999 at HEATHER MORTUARY CHAPEL, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Tucson, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., Tucson, 85716.

LEECE, John Stephen, born May 2, 1947, Tucson, AZ, died July 10, 1999, Tucson, AZ.
Known for his expertise in designing many state-of-the-art hemodialysis clinics in he Southwest. Tucson native John Stephen Leece passed away Saturday, in Tucson. Leece, 52, was a 1972 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Architecture. Over the past 20 years, he had owned several architectural businesses in California which specialized in helping doctors and nurses design and build hemodialysis clinics where patients with kidney disease could be treated in comfortable and efficient settings. In addition to Miyake, Leece & Woods Architects of Costa Mesa, CA, Leece had been associated with CNWC Architects of Tucson and Stockton, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold H. Leece. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Wendy of Costa Mesa, CA; his loving children, Bret, 25 and his wife, Blithe, 26 of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Megan, 22; son, Stephen, 18; daughter, Amy, 15 and daughter, Emily, 10, all of Costa Mesa, CA; his devoted mother, Harriett H. Leece of Tucson. Also brothers, Michael B. Leece and William S. Leece, both of Tucson; sisters, Mary Kaye Bennett of Glendale, AZ and Carol Ann Willingham of Tucson as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, nephews and nieces living in Tucson and Glendale, AZ.
In his life, John had been active in his church as a Sunday School supervisor and he was also on the Men's Prayer Watch. Also, he participated in many Costa Mesa AYSO and Costa Mesa Little League fund raising activities.
He was also an avid golfer and an expert handyman.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., Tucson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of the children to the Benevolent Fund, Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, 3800 South Fairview Road, Costa Mesa, CA 92704.

REAUVEAU, Eleanor Frances, 82, died July 13, 1999. Born in Philadelphia, PA. Mother of Diane Buli, Eleanor Lloyd and Lorraine Jorgenson. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Reauveau. Arrangements by BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

STIFFE, Carlton L., 46 years old, died Friday, July 9, 1999 in Tucson. Born on January 9, 1953 in Kingston, Jamaica. Survived by his mother and stepfather, Violet and Rupert Smith, Sr. of Springfield, MA; father and stepmother, Clinton and Lewlyn Stiffe; children, Adam Stiffe and Emily Stiffe both at home; brother, Rupert Smith, Jr.; stepbrothers, Leonard, Errol, Ronald and Winston Stiffe; stepsisters, Yvonne, Marilyn; other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 16, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, Tucson. Memorials may be made to Lymphoma Research Foundation of America.

WILLARD, Matthew Edwin, age 44, a 40 year resident of Tucson, passed away July 12, 1999. Born October 20, 1954 in Moline, Illinois. Survived by his sons, Matthew Willard, Jr., David and Paul Willard; daughter, Tammy Ward; ex-wife, Kay William; parents, Harlan and Freda Willard; brothers, Mark, Marlan, Mitchell Willard and Richard Boldrey; sister, Kelly Deslauriers; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Pastor Al Rode of Santa Cruz Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, a certified aftercare provider.

MARY LOIS BARTON, 75, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away July 14, 1999 at home with her family and her fat cat Bill. Survived by daughter, Glenda M. Watson; son, Charles E. Barton, Jr.; grandchildren, Wesley, Sabra, Chris, Brittany, CB and Rebecca; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. Also survived by her cat, Bill. The family will accept friends on Sunday, July 18, 1999 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

DONG, Eugene K., age 49, passed away on July 15, 1999 after a courageous nine-month battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Eugene, a 1967 graduate of Pueblo High School and 1971 graduate of the University of Arizona, was employed by Raytheon. He is survived by his wife, Kristina; daughters, Kayla and Emily; mother, Pearl; sisters, Susan, Maylane and Lorraine; brothers, Tim, Julian and Bill; and cousins, Tony, Margaret, Helen, Howard and Gordon. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Ming Dong. Services will be held at the Evergreen Chapel, North Oracle Road and West Miracle Mile at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16.

ALENE J. McCOLLUM, 78, of Tucson, went home to be with her Lord on July 8, 1999. She was born on March 9, 1921 in Sulphur Springs, TX. She was a resident of Silver City, NM and had resided in Tucson since 1940.
She was preceded in death by H.B. (Mac) McCollum, her loving husband of 50 years. She is survived by one son, Terry D. (Nikki) McCollum; one daughter, Starr Ann McCollum; two granddaughters, Brooke (Peter) Russo, Paige (Mike) Carpenter; one grandson, Brent McCollum; four great grandchildren, Andrea and Coleton Russo and Brieanna and Brendon Carpenter. She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held on July 17, 1999 at 11:00 in the chapel of First Southern Baptist Church, 445 E. Speedway Blvd., Pastor Ron Hart will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church. Arrangements made by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

McLAUGHLIN, Julia Jeanette, age 87, of Tucson, AZ, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. She had joined her loving husband, P.A. McLaughlin. Survived by son, Michael; daughter, Patti (Larry) Morris; grandchildren, Bradley Zurlinden, Jason Morris, Barbara Morris and numerous friends and family. Private family services will be held. MEAD, Sidney E. A memorial service for Dr. Sidney E. Mead, who died June 9, 1999 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northwest Tucson, 3601 W. Cromwell Drive. Dr. Mead is survived by his wife, Mildred LaDue Mead. He retired to Tucson after a distinguished career in teaching religion and history at the University of Chicago, Southern California School of Theology /Associated Colleges, Claremont, CA; and the University of Iowa. He subsequently taught short-term at many universities including the University of Arizona 1978-80.

STEIGER, Helen H., 85, of Tucson, passed away July 14, 1999. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Myrtle Hatfield and four brothers, John, Forest, Kenneth and Paul Hatfield. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; four sons, Norman (Sandi), Ronald (Pam), Arthur (Paula), John (Georgia), 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and she was anticipating the arrival of her first great-great-grandchild, whom will be arriving in January of 2000. She was a member of Santa Cruz Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 16, 1999 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 17, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. at South Lawn cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following the Graveside Service at Santa Cruz Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements made by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

Mother of Lee (Robert) Reifenstuhl; grandmother of Bob (Liu) Reif, Sandra (Bill) Velgos, John Reifenstuhl and Sheri (John) Platusic; great-grandmother of Christopher and Aimee Reif, Billy and Kyle Velgos, Johnathan and Nicholette Reifenstuhl and Ryler Platusic. JOHN H. CAMPBELL
Born December 25, 1928, Kansas City, MO, died at home July 15, 1999, Tucson, AZ. Survived by wife, Rosalie Campbell; daughter, Leslie Steele; son, Blaine Campbell; grandchildren, Kaycee Steele, Christina Campbell and sister, Elizabeth Hocker. preceded in death by first wife, June D. Campbell. Graduate of Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas in 1950 with B.S.M.E. Engineering honorary fraternities, Sigma Tau and Pi Tau Sigma, Sigma Phi Epsilon – Social fraternity. Electrical engineer, Service Supervisor and Senior Engineer at General Electric Co. for 42 years in both Kansas City and Tucson. Many interesting projects included: Apollo Moon Project, Hydrogen Bomb, Mail Bag Sortation System – Resident Engineer, F-111 Fighter Plane, Atlas and Titan Missiles, Nuclear Power Plants, Hydro Dams – Table Rock, Harry S. Truman, Stockton, and Beaver. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 18, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road.

HENRY A. ENCINAS, 49, beloved father, brother, died July 14, 1999. Born May 7, 1950. preceded in death by parents, Carlos V. and Juanita; brothers, Freddie and Benny.
