JACOBO, Clint Martin, 20, of Carson City, NV, died August 6, 1999 in Carson City, NV. He is survived by his parents, Luis Jacobo, Jr. of Tucson; his mother, Cruz Jacobo of Carson City; brothers, Luis Jacobo, Jr. and Jose Jacobo both of Carson City; paternal grandparents, Manuel and Rosa Jacobo; maternal grandfather, Gilbert Rubio all of Naco, AZ; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and two nieces. Funeral Mass, Saturday, 9:30 a.m., St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call Friday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery.

RICHARD JOHN 'DICK' KENNEDY, 71, former Tucson City Councilman and Pima Country Recorder, died of cancer on August 10, 1999 in Tucson surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Greenwich, CT on January 4th, 1928 and lived in Washington D.C. before coming to Tucson in 1944 with his parents, Frank J. and Helen C. Kennedy. A Tucson High graduate, he attended the U of A. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Allen Kennedy; his former wife, Mildred Roberts Kennedy, and their five children, Kathy (Robert) Tribolet, Tucson, Karel Kennedy, CA, Patricia Kennedy-Weber (William), CA, Ellen (Bruce) Nelson, IA and Richard F. Kennedy, CA. Richard is also survived by eight loving grandchildren, Lynette Tribolet (Misael) Guerra, Robert and Melissa Tribolet, Sarah, Keri and William Kennedy-Weber, Haley and Ben Nelson; great-grandson, Seth Guerra; and two sisters, Jean and Ellen Kennedy. His blended family members are: Debbie (Brian) Reddington, WA, Doreen (Nelson) Conley, FL and Donna (William) Hanna, Phoenix; and their children, Christopher and Ashley Hanna, Caity, Colleen and Michael Reddington. We will honor his life on Friday, August 13th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Odilia's Catholic Church, 7570 N. Paseo del Norte. Mr. Kennedy donated his body to University Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TMC Hospice or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank all of his friends for their loving care and support especially Jim Corbett and Jim Murphy.

MAGNOWSKI, Henry F., 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 1999 following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Eveline; three stepchildren, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, two nephews, and two nieces, and many friends. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 4, 1921, he married Eveline on May 23, 1986 and they moved to Tucson in November, 1989. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the VFW Post 10188. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 1999 at St. Odilia's Church, 7570 N. Paseo Del Norte. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

SMITHERMAN, Maxine Ann, 60, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 1999. As were her wishes, she was cremated and her ashes disbursed in the Gulf of Mexico. She is survived by three children, Tina Marie (John) Cobb, Robert (Mona) Smitherman and David Smitherman; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica and Monalisa Smitherman, Joshua, Eric, Thomas Cobb and Katie and Cody Smitherman; two great-grandchildren, Elliot and Charyzma Mendoza; her mother, Pat Gartman; two brothers, Mark and Bud Gartman. Friends may gather from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 1999 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. with Father Charlie Knapp officiating.

TRISTE, Nieves Mejia, 83, of Oceanside, CA, passed away in her home August 4, 1999. preceded in death by her husband, Santos, Sr. and son, Calistro; mother of Juan, Edward, Maria (Wes) Valenzuela, Romana Pena, Santos (Estella) Jr., Rosa (Timothy) Burke and Amelia (Roberto) Hernandez; sister of Tomasa Caballero and Flora Rascon. Also survived by 31 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. An all night vigil will be held at Cristo Rey Catholic Church on Friday, August 13, from 5:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday at 8:00 a.m., followed by interment in Monte Calvario cemetery. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery.

VERDUGO, Armando, 53, passed away July 31, 1999 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. preceded in death by his father, Ignacio Verdugo and his mother, Aurora Verdugo Martinez. Survived by his wife, Pam Verdugo; daughters, Melody, Marisol, and Meaghan; granddaughter, Kora Cymone, all from Tucson; sisters, Martha Elzy of Tucson, Maria Olga Codina of Hermosillo, Son; three half sisters and one half brother of Hermosillo, Son. and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Hermosillo on August 2nd.

CHRISTOPHER JAMES WHYMAN, 32, born in Batavia, NY on April 10, 1967, died unexpectedly on August 9, 1999. His wonderful sense of humor and ready smile made him a wonderful person to know. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving mother, Diane Gilpin; loving stepfather, Phillip Gilpin; and his four younger sisters, Lisa Whyman, Amanda, Sunny and Kerry Gilpin, all of Tucson, AZ.
'Chris, you are now safely at home in Grandma's loving arms.'
Visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Memorial Services from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Park Ave. Christian Church, 4635 S. Park Ave., on Friday, August 13, 1999. There will be a reception at 451 W. Marcus immediately following.

CONNER, Robert A., 46 years old, died August 10, 1999 in Tucson. Born on June 6, 1953 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Survived by his wife, Shirley Conner of Tucson; children, Breeanna Powell, Rebecca and Robert F. Conner of Tucson; three sisters, Bonnie (Fred) Warren and Carolyn Cranney both of Tucson; parents, Robert and Rita Conner of Idaho; niece, Lori Farney; nephew, Shad Warren and great-nephew, Kody Farney. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 1999 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert A. Conner Memorial Fund % Bank of America, Ajo Branch, Tucson, AZ.

DALE, C., 64, of Tucson, died Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at the Tucson Veterans Administration Medical Center after a short illness. Survivors include C.'s brother, Darryl Kindt; twin sisters, Dawn Kindt and Doris (Jack) Wilson. C.'s generosity touched the lives of many people, as did his many hours of volunteer service at the VA Hospital. His wonderful smile and special turtle greeting will be missed by his many friends from the VA Hospital, Tucson Jazz Society and Blues Society, fellow postal workers, Pyramid Credit Union, Desert Dove and First Christian Churches. A memorial service celebrating C.'s life will be held Sunday, August 15, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. at Desert Dove Christian Church, 6163 S. Midvale Park Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA Hospital Volunteers Service, General Post Fund 6662 or Patient Comfort, General Post Fund 6674. Interment will be at a later date at the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

DUARTE, Ernesto R., 79, of Tucson, died August 11, 1999. Mr. Duarte was native of Nogales, AZ and a descent of the famous pioneer, Pete Kitchen. He is survived by wife, Frida B. Duarte; son, Richard Duarte; daughter, Nelda Moreno; stepson, Moses Bornstein; grandchildren, Norman, Christina, and Estevan; and great-grandchildren; sister, Esperanza Islas. Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Diabetes Assoc., 40 N. Swan, Suite 116, Tucson, AZ 85711.

GLENN ELDON HENDRICKS, 61, of Tucson, AZ, died August 9, 1999. He is survived by wife, Noel C. Hendricks; children, Gregory A. Hendricks, Andrea L. (Alan) Poleszak and Curt J. (Elizabeth) Hendricks; five grandchildren; sister, Doris F. (Stanley) Williams and four nieces and one nephew. Glenn served as a sergeant in the Marine Corp in the late 50's. He retired from the Tucson Police Department after 29 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 1999, at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, 500 W. Calle Concordia. Pastor Hayslip, Pastor Johnson and Dr. Dan Spaite will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Help Your Brother Fund % Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, Tucson, AZ 85737. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.

LANG, David E., born on November 19, 1952, died on August 9, 1999. He is survived by his parents, Chester and Geneva Lang; one son, Jason David Lang; one daughter, Tamara Lynn Pitcher, both of Tucson; two brothers, Ronald E. (Karen) Lang of Tucson, Donald W. (Diane) Lang of Phoenix; one granddaughter, three nieces and three nephews. David was employed by Arizona Portland Cement Co. for 28 years. A visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 1999 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. Interment to follow at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements made by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

RAYMOND JOHN MILLEN, Born August 7, 1920 in Aurora, Illinois to John Millen and Catherine Redding. passed away Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Helen; his children, Jeanne Lemieux of Ogden, Utah, John Millen of Greeley, Colorado; a brother, Arnold Millen; two sisters, Helen Windisch and Corinne Rowe; four grandchildren, Connie Romano, Rick McCabe, Alex Millen and Paige Millen; a great-granddaughter, Kiley Romano and his faithful companion, Harley.
Ray Millen graduated from Marmion Military Academy, Aurora, Illinois in 1938. He served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during the second world war. He was a long time resident of Golden, Colorado until his retirement from A.M.F. as a product manager in 1985. He and Helen have lived in Tucson for the past fifteen years. Ray enjoyed being involved with his community. He was an active board member of Tucson Estates for many years. Ray was a charming man with many friends who will be dearly missed.

MIRANDA, Glenda Collins, 45, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away August 10, 1999. preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Annie Bea Collins. Survived by husband, Ramon Miranda; children, Rachel, Ramon Jr., Regina; and sisters, Mildred (Paul) Gilmore, Shirley (Jesus) Miranda, her twin sister, Connie Collins and brothers, Erwin (Lynnie) Collins and Marvin (Pauline) Collins. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Nicole Chiquette, Heriberto Chiquette, and Alberto Mada and 17 nephews and seven nieces. Visitation is Sunday, August 15, 1999, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral services offered on Monday, August 16, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at Eastside Assembly of God, 1930 S. Wilmot. Pastor John Luttman officiating and Daniel Gilmore, Delia Cruz and Rosalie Lopez as the Eulogists. Interment following at South Lawn cemetery. Glenda was a very caring mother and loyal wife. She was a wonderful sister to her brothers and sisters. She will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank all those who stood vigil with her in her final days.

MARCOS RUIZ PAEZ, 22, died August 10, 1999. Loving husband and father. Survived by wife, Angela; daughter, Reyna; beloved son of Antonio and Lillian Paez of Tucson; beloved brother of Antonio, Jr. (Amy) Paez of Tucson and David (Cathleen) Paez of Phoenix; grandparents, Arnulfo and Catalina Ruiz of Clifton, AZ and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio G. and Eulalia C. Paez. He was beloved by all who knew him. He was employed by Lucent Technologies and will be sadly missed by all his friends and fellow employees. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 13 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd, with visitation preceding from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

BELLAR, George Ramsey, born November 19, 1905, died August 11, 1999. On November 19, 1906, 'A Beautiful Son' was born to Sydney and Lulu Bellar, they named him George Ramsey Bellar. He was the fourth child born into this family of nine.
At an early age, George Ramsey Bellar proclaimed Christ as his personal savior.
George had worked for U.S. Steels in Gary, Indiana for 49 years.
He was united in Holy Matrimony with Florence Lyda Carpenter and to this union was born three children, George, Wayne Lowell (deceased) and Joan.
He leaves his cherished memories to one son, George and one daughter, Joan; seven grandchildren (one deceased) and 12 great-grandchildren.
'May our Father, our Papa find peace and comfort in the Arms of the Lord, Forever loved.'
Visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

GESINA, Violet, 68 years old, died Wednesday, August 13, 1999 in Tucson. Born on December 18, 1930 in Carson Lake, Minnesota, one of 13 brothers and sisters of the Lubovich family. Survived by her husband, Bernard Paul Gesina of Tucson; son, Paul Bernard Gesina of Phoenix; one granddaughter, Felicty Gesina. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, August 16, 1999 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, Tucson, with burial to follow at Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

EDWARD RANDOLPH LACY, 81, passed away July 29, 1999. Survived by hi wife of 55 years, Ruth Neergaard Lacy; son, Butch of Denmark; daughters, Ronnie Sue Pfeiffer of Conway, NC, Sally Neergaard Leonard of Tucson; brother, Jack Lacy of Richmond, VA and six grandchildren.
Ran was born in Louisa, VA on November 13, 1917 to Johnson W. and Maude R. Lacy. Upon graduation from VA Tech with a degree in civil engineering in 1938, Ran went to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was in the armed forces between 1942 and 1945, performing extensive work combating malaria in India and North Africa. Between tours of duty, he and Ruth were married in Georgia on February 13, 1944. His contributions to the Malaria Control Program during World War II were recognized in 1982 when he received The Commendation Medal from Dr. C. Everett Koop.
Following his release from the Army, Ran entered the block building business with his brother, Jack. In 1964 Ran moved his family to Washington, D.C. where he started the Beltway Construction Co. Following several successful years, Ran and Ruth sold the company to their employees and moved to Tucson. Once here, Ran and his partners, Knox Wolaver and Harry Gillette went into the Post Office building and leasing business throughout the states of Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
Devout church goers, Ran and Ruth joined St. Philip's Episcopal Church upon arrival in Tucson, where Ran served as an usher for several years. A memorial service is planned at St. Philip's on Sunday, August 15, at 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Philip's Church.
