HADFY

Leslie B. Hadfy

Dr. Leslie B. Hadfy died on June 1, 2000, in Luzerne, Switzerland. Born in Budapest, Hungary, on March 9, 1923, he was 77.

Having immigrated to the United States in 1950, he was a longtime resident of Davis. He earned his master's degree from UC Berkeley in biochemistry. He graduated from UC San Francisco Medical School and interned at Kaiser Hospital and Letterman Army Hospital. After serving as a physician in the U.S. Air Force, he completed his pathology residency in San Francisco at the UC Medical School.

He became Yolo County's first full-time pathologist in 1964 and served as county coroner for Yolo and Sutter counties. He also served as laboratory director at the Cowell Student Health Center at UC Davis and at Davis Community Hospital.

Hadfy founded and headed the Yolo Diagnostic Medical Group and Davis Clinical Laboratory, retiring in 1988. Since retirement, he began spending time in both California and Switzerland.

He is survived and mourned by Charlotte Wutholen of Switzerland, Ildiko Kathy Fortier of Fresno, his nephew and niece, Rodolfo and Dora Hadfy of Venezuela, all their families, and many friends worldwide.

In honoring his wishes, the family requests that remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Cemetery, 254 N. Blythe, Fresno. Interment will follow immediately at St. Peter's.

HADLEY

Williard Leo 'Buck' Hadley

Born May 29, 1923 in Hulbert, Okla. Passed away April 18, 2005 at San Juan Hospital in Farmington, N.M. after a long illness with cancer. He lived in Flora Vista in the "Four Corners" area of New Mexico.

Buck and his family moved to Woodland in 1948 after World War II. He served as an Air Force Paramedic station in Amarillo, Texas.

He was employed by Lane Western as a well driller and was well recognized for his expertise in the fields.

As a child he attended the "The Weindot American Indian School" through the eighth grade. His mother, Caroline Crabtree Hadley, was a Cherokee Indian who migrated to Oklahoma by following the "Trail of Tears." She then married John Hadley.

As a child Buck enjoyed many fishing adventures noodling for catfish with his brothers and cousins, Calvin Whitekiller on the James River in Missouri and throughout his life.

He loved his family and friends and planned great outdoor gatherings with lots of good food and fun.

Buck is survived by his sons, Bobby Hadley and his wife Marcia of Arcata and Willard Jay Hadley and his wife Judy of Woodland. Grandchildren, Michael, Steven, David, Jason, J.R. and Brandon Hadley, Gina Hadley and Diana Olstad and many great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Jim Hadley of Flora Vista, N.M. and his sister, Rob Hightower of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and his first wife of 45 years, Ardilla, his son, Ronnie Hadley, his brother, Bill Hadley and his sister, Ilene Vann.

A traditional Indian burial service will be held on Friday, April 22 at 1 p.m. at the Woodland Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Williard Leo 'Buck' Hadley (1923-2005) (2nd of 2 obits.)

Williard Leo "Buck" Hadley of Flora Vista, N.M. died at San Juan Hospital in Farmington, N.M. Monday, April 18 at age 81.

HAEFKE

Esther Koch Haefke

Esther Koch Haefke died in Sparks, Nev. Wednesday, April 13 at age 90.

Mrs. Haefke was born June 14, 1904 in rural Tampa, Kan. to Ludwig and Mary Neely Koch. She had been a Woodland resident for more than 30 years. She was a homemaker and for a while worked in retail sales as a clerk.

Survivors include Mrs. Haefke's daughters, Sue Turner of Woodland and Penny Heinrich and her husband Rolf of Sparks, Nev.; her granddaughter, Kim Hedges and her husband Mike of Denver; her grandsons, Brian Turner of West Sacramento, Scott Turner and his wife Laura of Woodland; her great-granddaughter, Corrine Fernandez; her great-grandson, Trent Turner and her sister, Lucille Trantz, all of Woodland and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry F. Haefke and her sisters, Hulda Brunner and Clara K. Jull.

The family requests memorials in Mrs. Haefke's name be directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento 95817 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at Monument Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Hargrave officiating. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.

HAGUE

Delman Allen Grant Hague

Delman Allen Grant Hague passed away peacefully at home in Winters on Nov. 30, 2003. Born in Oct. 5, 1928 in Berkeley, he was 75 years old.

Mr. Hague served 42 years in the military, including the Korean War, and retired with a rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was an agent for Farmers Insurance for 40 years, sharing his office with his son Matthew. Past affiliations include a 20-year membership in the Green Valley Country Club and a charter member with the Winters Rotary Club, and served as a volunteer with the Winters Fire Department. He was a member of the Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship in Suisun and a member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Winters.

An avid sportsman, Mr. Hague earned the title of State Athlete of the Year in 1945-46 in all sports. He loved tennis and golf, his pets and his martinis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Viona; son, Dr. Douglas Hague; son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Glenda Hague; daughter and son-in-law Carin and Juan Benavidez; daughter De Ann Hague; grandsons Donny II and James Engell; granddaughters Lea and Alissa Benavidez; mother, Dorothy Chapman; sister Mern Stowers, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Nicki Chapman; sisters-in-law and brothers--in-law Virginia and Richard Bell, Jeannie and Robert Pizzagoni, brother-in-law Jack Higdon; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Hale.

Services will be held at Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Winters on Friday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Winters Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held at his residence immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pioneer Presbyterian Church.

HAHN

Edward William Hahn

Edward William Hahn "Eddie" passed away on Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at his home in Winters. Born on Feb. 20, 1910 in Altus, Arkansas, he was 89 years old.

Mr. Hahn worked as foreman at the Atlas Heating and Air-conditioning Company for 46 year. He graduated from Saint Mary's School in Altus, Arkansas in 1972, he settled in Winters, where he was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active in the community with Elderly Nutrition for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Elizabeth Hahn, of Winters; son, Charles Hison Hahn of Wagner, Oklahoma; daughters, Sally Wayne Duvall of Tustin, and Patsy Joyce Jordan of Winters; sons, Carroll Edward Hahn of Newark, and Roger Clark Hahn of Sparks, Nevada; two sisters, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their relations.

Mr. Hahn was preceded in death by his son, Randall Joseph Hahn, and three brothers.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, Dec. 30, at at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Concluding services will take place at the Winters Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith's Colonial chapel.

HALE

Jacquelyn Marie Hale (1 of 2)

Jacquelyn Marie Hale died Dec. 8, 2000. Born Feb. 18, 1930, in St. Helena to Elvid Hague and Dorothy Chapman, she was 70.

A woman of many accomplishments, she will be missed most for the beautiful and loving person she was, her family says.

She is survived by her husband, John; her children, son Stanley Gale and his wife Diane, daughter Louise Gale-Cummings and her husband Dave, daughter Cecelia Kent and her husband Cliff, stepdaughter Teresa Bowser and her husband Robert, and stepson John Hale and his wife Pam; two brothers, Delman Hague and his wife Viona and Robert Chapman and his wife Nicki; a sister, Mern Stowers and her husband Tom; and eight grandchildren, Beth and Samuel Gale; Katelyn, Andrew and John Cummings; Sierra and Ezra Kent; and Jason Hale.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell in Winters. A reception will follow the service at Wesley Hall.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Jackie Hale Memorial Fund for local families in need at First Northern Bank in Winters, or to the National Fibromyalgia Research Association, P.O. Box 500, Salem, OR 97308.

Jacquelyn Marie Hale (2 of 2)

Jacquelyn Marie Hale passed away on Dec. 8, 2000. She had many accomplishments in her life, but will be missed most for the beautiful and loving woman she was. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Hale was born Feb. 18, 1930 in St. Helena, to Elvid Hague and Dorothy Chapman. Her loving husband John and her mother survive her. She is also survived by brother Delman Hague and wife Viona, sister Mern Stowers and husband Tom and brother Robert Chapman and wife Nicki. She will be missed by her children: son Stanley Gale and wife Diane, daughter Louise Gale-Cummings and her husband Dave, daughter Cecelia Kent and her husband Cliff, stepdaughter Teresa Bowser and husband Robert, and stepson John Hale and wife Pam. Her grandchildren are Beth and Samuel Gale; Katelyn, Andrew and John Cummings; Sierra and Ezra Kent; and Jason Hale.

A memorial service will be held at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell Street, Winters, on Friday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. there will be a reception at Wesley Hall immediately following the service. Donations can be made to the Jackie Hale Memorial Fund for local families in need at First Northern Bank in Winters, or The National Fibromyalgia Research Association, P.O. Box 500, Salem, Oregon 97308.

HALL

Carmen Ramirez Hall

Carmen Ramirez Hall died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in Davis, where she had lived for the last 51/2 years with her daughter, Lola Brocksen and her son, Gus Nunez. She was 92 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Forest Lawn Cypress in Cypress.

Hall was born on July 16, 1913, in Canon City, Colo. She was an only child, having lost both of her parents in her first year of life. She married at a young age and was widowed when her son, Gus, was 3 years old. She married two more times and was widowed each time. She married again to Walter Hall and was preceded in death by him in 2000. They had lived for in Bellflower for 22 years.

A hard worker throughout her life, Hall worked in the fields as a young girl, picking cotton and other crops. She was a welder with Douglas Aircraft during World War II. She also was a homemaker, a cook in the public schools, a practical nurse, caretaker of elderly patients, worked with preschool children, and was an artist who possessed a deep love for life, her family said.

Relatives described her as the “original do-it-yourself person” who enjoyed tending the family garden, canning vegetables, adding a back porch to the family home and painting the home inside and out. She also loved growing flowers, with red being the prominent color in her flower garden.

She is survived by her son, Gus, and daughter, Lola; Gus’ daughter Virginia of Los Angeles; as well as Lola’s three sons, Steve and his wife Ricki of Mountain View; Stuart of Davis; and Stan and his wife Laurie of Fountain Hills, Ariz. She also is survived by her great-grandchildren, Carey, Cameron and Riley of Mountain View; Robert of Dixon; and Josh, Tyler and Katarina of Fountain Hills, Ariz; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wiscombe’s Davis Funeral Chapel.
