LOPEZ

Paul Rudy Lopez

Paul Rudy Lopez died at Cottonwood Health Care Center, Woodland on Monday, March 17, 2003, at age 72.

Born Oct. 17, 1930, in Center Colorado, Mr. Lopez had been a Yolo County resident for 15 years. He was a teamster for over 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Lopez of Dunnigan; sons, Tony Lopez and wife Connie of Roseville, and Carlos Lopez and wife Wendy of Tracy; daughters, Debbie Lopez of Fremont, and Paula Elvert of Dunnigan; grandchildren, Kimberly Elvert, Corey and Wesley Lopez; and great-grandchildren, Chasz Cordero and Elijah Saldana. He was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Lopez; and mother, Amelia Arguero.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

Services: A graveside service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.

GULLETT

Cheryl Jene Gullett

Cheryl Jene Gullett, 47, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at her home in Winters after suffering from lung cancer. At her request, no funeral services will be held.

Born on Oct. 19, 1956, in Jacksonville, Florida, she graduated from Woodland High School and was a 20-year resident of Winters.

She is survived by her partner, Ted Couture; a daughter, Melody DeAnn Couture; father George Gullett of Garnerville, Nevada; sister Tresa Rhodes, of Minden, Nevada; brother Robie Gullett and sister-in-law Joice Gullett, of Robbins, and a nephew and niece, Michael and Varlarie Gullett, and also of Robbins.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, JoAnn Gullett, and by a son, Benny Rager.

The family suggest that memorials be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.

ROMERO

Edelmira Romero

Edelmira Romero died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on October 23, 2005. She was 68.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Woodland Family Worship Center, 386 W. Beamer St. in Woodland. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Church Catholic Church, at the corner of Walnut and Court streets, with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland.

She was born Zacatecas, Mexico, where she attended area schools. She lived there until moving to the Fresno area in 1992.

A homemaker for 40 years, she moved to Yolo County in 1993 and made Woodland her home for the past 11 years. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Nicolas Romero; a daughter Elvira Romero; three sons Nicolas, Fabio and Arnulfo Romero, all of Woodland; and eight grandchildren.

Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

ROMINGER

Shirley Faye Rominger

Shirley Faye Rominger passed away at home on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 surrounded by her family. She was born in Westwood, on July 23, 1930, to Charles and Leona Cody.

Shirley moved to Winters in the fall of 1944 and attended Winters High School where she was involved in many activities. She then attended Sacramento City College and briefly worked as a secretary before marrying Don Rominger in 1950. She spent her life in Winters on the family ranch with Don and their four children, to whom she devoted her life.

Active in numerous community events and organizations, she served as a member and past president of the Winters Joint Unified School Board of Trustees from 1957 to 1973. She was a member of The Family Service Agency of Yolo County, The Soroptimist Club, Beta Alpha Beta, St. Anthony Catholic Church and The Altar Society. She was Grand Marshall of the Winters Youth Day Parade in 1979, Winters Citizen of the Year in 1980 and was active in the Winters Community Theatre group.

Her main focus in life was giving and serving others and being with her family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Don Rominger, her four children, Lorraine, Donna and her husband Brad, Joseph and his wife Sheri and Daniel and his wife Claudia. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Julia, David and Justine McElvain and Cody, Eleanore and James Rominger; her sister Lona Lee Freden, and her husband Karl; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by per parents.

A rosary service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m. and a celebration of life mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m., both at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Shirley Rominger Catholic Education Fund at First Northern Bank, 48 Main Street, Winters.

ROMNEY

Dick Romney

Dick Romney, of Etna, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, after a long and happy life. He was born in 1927 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He and his wife, of 56 years, Joanne, chose to make their home in the Scott Valley after living in Winters for 25 years. Before their move, Dick loved vacationing in the Trinity Alps, bird hunting and sport fishing. An outgoing, people-loving person, Dick was an avid member of the Scott Valley Car Pals, the Etna Lions, and a regular for morning coffee at the Etna Deli.

His lifelong love of cars in particular, and all things automotive, led Dick to a career in the truck equipment industry. He founded and ran Pac Power, Inc. in Dixon, for many years. Dick was president of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA).

He served in the Army, 7th Infantry, in Korea and graduated with a bachelor of science in business, from the University of Utah.

Dick is survived by his wife, Joanne; son Rick and his wife, Jiley Romney and their children Dustin, Jamieson, Jordan and Kaely Romney; daughter Cathy and her husband Alan Zimmerman and their children, Ben and Dan Zimmerman, and Dick’s brother, George J. Romney, and his wife, Joanne.

A Veteran’s service will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at noon at the Ft. Jones Cemetery, followed by food and refreshments at 4736 So. Kidder Loop.

ROMO

Ramon Yanez Romo

A vigil for Ramon Yanez Romo who died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on April 11, 2001, at age 74, will be held at Holy Rosary Church in Woodland on Monday at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. also at Holy Rosary Church with interment to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

Romo was born in Sonora, Mexico, on Sept. 14, 1926, to the late Ramon and Luisa Romo.

Romo was a resident of Woodland for the past 36 years. He worked in agriculture for more than 40 years and before retirement worked as ranch foreman for J.L. Grimm. After his retirement in 1986 he loved to take daily walks and was an avid gardener, but his main love was for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary. Additional survivors include his children, Carol Alexander of Garden Grove; Clem and Fran Guillen of Woodland; Clara and Richard Cooper of Woodland; Carlos Guillen of Woodland; Lupe Romo-Zendejas and her husband, Luis, of Woodland; and Raymond and Brenda Romo of Woodland.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

RONCORONI

Julia M. Roncoroni

Julia Margaret (Pescaglini) Roncoroni died May 9, 2000, surrounded by family members in her home. Born Oct. 29, 1918, in Winters to Elizabeth and Giuseppe Pescaglini, she was 81.

She attended Gordon Grammar School, joined the Madison 4-H Club in 1928 and graduated from Esparto High School in 1937.

She was active with the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School, Altar Society, Italian Catholic Federation and Young Ladies Institute. She served on the PTA for 28 years, was both a Cub Scout and Brownie troop leader, and was a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Dance Club and a local bunco group.

Her hobbies included gardening, walking, baking, her family and watching her favorite teams, the Giants and Kings.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Pescaglini, and sister, Mary (Pescaglini) Gorman.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alfred Roncoroni; two sons, Ernie Roncoroni and John Roncoroni; daughter, Sandy Cernansky; two daughters-in-law, Janette Roncoroni and Sharon Lynch; son-in-law, Calvin Cernansky; four grandsons, Nicholas Roncoroni, Stephen Cernansky, Richard Cernansky and his wife Corie and Ernest Roncoroni and his wife Becci; granddaughter, Jennifer Roncoroni; and two great-grandsons, Jeremy Cernansky and Stephen Cital.

She also was survived by three sisters, Josephine Cadenasso and her husband Nicholas, Angelina Pisani and Jean Botelli and her husband Bill; a brother, Jack Pescaglini and his wife Alice; two sisters-in-law, Eva Fahn and her husband Casey and Tootie Von Almen; a brother-in-law, Albert Rimoldi and his wife Pauline; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland.

The family will gather to recite the rosary at 7:30 p.m. today at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Walnut and Court streets, Woodland.

A funeral Mass will be conducted by Father John Boll at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Church. Interment will follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland.

Julia requested that anyone wishing to make a contribution in her memory should give to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School, Woodland Christian School's Foundation for Excellence or Yolo Hospice.
