REUTER

Leona J. Reuter

Leona J. Reuter died Feb. 10, 2005, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre, Mo. She was 87 years old.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today, followed by a prayer service at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bonne Terre, where Reuter was a member and sang in the church choir.

She was born in St. Louis on March 9, 1917, to Anton and Anna (Fritsch) Siebert.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Donald Sodergren and brother Roy Siebert.

She is survived by her husband Ed Reuter of Bonne Terre; son Kermit "Kit" Sodergren and his wife Dana of Davis; stepdaughter Jacqueline Thomas of Arnold, Mo.; sister Dorothy Malkowski of St. Louis; brothers Herbert Siebert of St. Louis and Cletus Siebert of Florida; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made in her name to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

REYES

Miguel Hurtado Reyes

Miguel Hurtado Reyes died in Walnut Creek, Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 at age 43.

Mr. Reyes was born April 6, 1961 in Coeno, Mexico. He had been a resident of Yuba City for 15 years. He was employed by Matamoros Welding Pipeline.

Survivors include Mr. Reyes' wife, Laura Reyes and his children, Miguel Jr., Adrien and Jasmine Reyes, all of Yuba City; his mother, Herminia Hurtado Reyes; his father, Alfredo Reyes; his sisters, Victoria Reyes, Maria Reyes Ruiz and Lilly Reyes and his brothers, Alfred and Sacramento Reyes.

Services: A vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

REYES

Ray Alfred Reyes

Ray Alfred Reyes died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at his West Sacramento home. He was 51.

Interment will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35039 County Road 22 in Woodland.

Born July 22, 1953, in Sacramento to Ramon and Carmen (Brownell) Reyes, he attended West Sacramento area schools and graduated with the Yolo High School class of 1971.

During the Vietnam War, he served his country as a chemical warfare specialist with the 21st Field Artillery Division of the U.S. Army. A lifelong resident of West Sacramento, he was a member of the VFW Post 9498 Bryte Memorial and worked in construction as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Carmen Reyes.

He is survived by his wife of five years, Leticia Reyes of West Sacramento; his daughters, Belen and Jamie; stepsons, Richard Flores and Robert Magby; his sisters, Angela Maytorena of Sacramento, Margie Cisneros and Leah Castro of West Sacramento; and a brother, Carlos Reyes of Sacramento.

He is further survived by his stepmother, Kathy Reyes of West Sacramento, one grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 9498 in his memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.

REYN

Beatrice Matilda Reyn

Beatrice Matilda Reyn died in Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at age 99.

Born Nov. 26, 1902, in Bury, Lancashire England, Mrs. Reyn had been a Yolo County resident for over 80 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Martha E. Dangerfield. She graduated from Esparto High School in 1922. She married Henry George Reyn in Woodland in 1925.

Mrs. Reyn is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lombardi and husband Toby of Auburn; granddaughter, Teri Sartain and husband Steven; grandson, Troy Lombardi and wife Mavis; great-grandsons, Anthony and Jason Lombardi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Henry Reyn, in 1987.

A graveside service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St., Woodland.

The family requests memorials be directed to American Cancer Society; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Lassila Chapel of Auburn is assisting the family with arrangements.

REYNA

Lina Gallardo Reyna

Lina Gallardo Reyna died peacefully in Woodland, Friday, April 19, 2002, at age 91.

Born in Jalisco, Mexico, April 4, 1911, Mrs. Reyna had been a Yolo County resident for the past 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Victor and Rufugia (Real) Gallardo. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and of the Comite Mexicano de benefisiensia No. 3. She worked in the agriculture industry of Yolo County for 40 years, having last worked for Half Moon Bay Packing. According to her family, "she was a hard working person who loved to watch wrestling and enjoyed traveling with her family. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed long walks."

Mrs. Reyna is survived by her children, Lupe Zendejas and Ramon Garcia, both of Woodland, and Jose Dolores of Mexico; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Reyna was preceded in death by her husband, Nicolaus Reyna; son, Rosendo Dolores; sisters, Teresa and Francisca Gallardo; and brothers, Victor, Tomas Luis and Manuel Gallardo.

A prayer vigil is scheduled at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland.

A funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m., Friday, April 26, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland, with Father Francisco Valasquez officiating. Interment is scheduled to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

REYNOLDS

Donald M. Reynolds

Donald Montgomery Reynolds died July 12, 2001, in Carmichael. Born Aug. 1, 1918, in San Francisco, he was 72.

He was a long-time resident of Davis and a microbiology professor at UC Davis. He was educated at Phillips Academy, Andover, in 1938, Harvard University in 1942 and Rutgers University in 1948.

At Rutgers, where he received his Ph.D. as a graduate student researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Selman Waksman, he participated in the discovery and development of the antibiotic streptomycin, for which Waksman later received the Nobel Prize. His writings on the production of streptomycin and other antibiotics were published in numerous academic journals in the 1950s.

Hired as a member of the UC Davis faculty in 1948, he spent a long scientific career at the university, expanding courses and research in microbiology, service to UNESCO and its international teaching programs in the sciences, while also participating in campus life. He founded and served as Housemaster of Hammarsjkold House, a special co-ed residency program for students selected for their strong commitment to cultural diversity and community service. He retired from the university in 1977.

As a member of the Davis community, he and his wife, Beatrice, who died in 1974, served as co-founders of the Davis Parent Nursery School and the town's Unitarian Church. He was a member of the Davis Peace Group, the Citizens Committee for Public Schools, and campaigned actively for many political candidates as a member of the Davis Democratic Club. He and Beatrice were early members of the Sierra Club. An avid mountaineer, he climbed extensively in the Swiss Alps and Yosemite and later taught his students to rappel off the roofs of various buildings at UCD.

In 1975, he founded the Overseas Blind Foundation, a nonprofit volunteer organization which provided free Braille reading materials to schools and individuals in more than 150 countries. He directed the organization for 20 years. In 1982, he married Evgenia Kirillova Ivanitsky. They lived in Santa Rosa, where the foundation was based, until her death in 1997. He spent his last four years living in Carmichael in the care of his former assistant with the foundation, and dear friend, Thekla MacDonald.

He is survived by three sons, John M. (Jock) Reynolds of New Haven, Conn.; Eric M. Reynolds of Boulder, Colo.; and Craig B. Reynolds of Davis; as well as three grandsons, Gurdon D.H. Reynolds, William B.H. Reynolds, and Sam T. Reynolds.

REYNOLDS

Ralph Duane Reynolds

Ralph Duane Reynolds died Oct. 19, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, with his family at his side. He was 67 years old, and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, doctor, coach, sportsman, author, genealogist and friend.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1934, in Powhatan Point, Ohio, to Ray and Edna Reynolds. He attended public schools in Ohio and graduated from Muskingum College in 1956, where he starred in football and track. He graduated from the Ohio State University School of Medicine in 1960, after joining the U.S. Air Force in 1959. He interned in Tacoma, Wash., and served his residency in San Antonio, Texas.

In 1965, he moved to the Bay Area and began his medical career. He was dedicated to combating cancer, working at the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base. In 1968, after moving his family to Vacaville, he served a tour of duty in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.

He was elected the president of the Society of Air Force Physicians and became chief of hematology oncology service at Grant Medical Center. He also was the coach of several championship baseball and football teams and was appointed commissioner of the Northern California Babe Ruth baseball league.

After moving to Fairfield, he retired as a colonel in the Air Force Medical Corps, in which he had served from 1959-1983. During that period, he was also a professor of medicine at UC Davis. He moved on to Columbia, Mo., where he was a professor of medicine at the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Medicine, the chairman of the department of medicine at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center and was medical director of the Women's Cancer Control Program. He continued his cancer research with Adria Laboratories in Columbus, Ohio, and then U.S. Bioscience in Conshohocken, Pa.

., After three years as the director of oncology at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo., he retired to Paoli, Pa. He published two renowned genealogical works on his maternal grandparents' lineages. He was in Des Moines, Iowa, to attend a genealogical conference when he became ill.

He is survived by his wife, Norita Reynolds of Paoli; his three sons (born to him and Elaine Reynolds-Smith, of Vacaville), Daniel Reynolds of San Jose, Barry Reynolds of Danville, and Ronald Reynolds of Fairfield; his two stepdaughters Nancy Anson of Southampton, Mass., and Susan Robbins of Boston; his nine grandchildren, Thomas, Nicholas and Matthew of San Jose, McKinley and Emma of Danville, Trina and Kayla of Fairfield, and Tressa and Zachary of Southampton, Mass.; and his brother, Robert Reynolds, of Pittston, Pa.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Nov. 9 at Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship, 4177-A Suisun Valley Road in Suisun City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or by calling (800) ACS-2345.
