FROST

William "Bill" Robert Frost

William "Bill" Robert Frost died on Dec. 31, 2002, following a 20-year battle with severe rheumatoid arthritis.

Born on Nov. 10, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., to William Manthrope and Mary (Snyder) Frost, he was 73 years old.

He moved with his parents from Michigan to Napa in 1944. He married his wife of more than 52 years in the Napa Methodist Church in 1950. They lived in Napa until 1964 when they relocated to Dixon. The couple returned to Napa in 1988.

He graduated from Napa High School in 1948 and was baptized with his entire family into the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1966. Between 1965 and 1968, the couple fostered five infants.

He retired in 1987 after working 25 years for the environmental toxicology department at UC Davis. Before that, he worked for 11 years at the Union Oil refinery in Rodeo. He was a gentle, loving soul who enjoyed his family and camping on the coast and in redwood forests.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Debra, in 1959, and a grandson, Daniel Sr., earlier this year.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; sons, Steven Frost of Napa and Bruce Frost of Dixon; daughters, Linda Arnold and her husband Gary of Fairfield, and Kathy Butler and her husband Johnny of Alabama; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Debra, Tabitha, Michael, Mary, Melissa, Julie, J.J. and Becky; eight great-grandchildren, Wesley, Zachary, Tommy, Daniel Jr., Bradley, Caitlin, Emily and Rhyley; brother, Richard Frost of Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail in Napa. The Rev. Marvin Wray will officiate. Interment will be at Tulocay Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.

FRYE

Rudine L. Frye

Rudine Louise Frye, a resident of Beaverton, Ore., died on Jan. 11, 2000, at the Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton. Born on Aug. 3, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Rudolf H. Parr and Nitha Ann Miller, she was 71.

Following Nitha's death, Rudolf married Gladys Brandt, who became Rudine's loving mother. Rudine was raised and received her education in Waterloo.

In 1979, she moved to Oregon, settling in Beaverton. Soon thereafter, she began working at Tektronics, where she remained employed until 1986. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Portland State University in June 1983. She became a social worker and volunteer at the Maryville Nursing Home in 1989.

Beginning in 1992, Rudine lived close to her daughters in Denver, Colo., and Davis. While in Denver, she volunteered many hours at the Veterans Administration nursing home. She returned to Oregon in June 1996 and spent her last years living at the Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton.

She was a homemaker and a loving mother. She enjoyed tennis and other sports, was an avid gardener and was often involved in volunteer work in her community. Her family and friends will miss her warmth, enthusiasm, love for people, sense of humor and high energy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rudolf H. Parr; her natural mother, Nitha Ann Miller; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen Ann Frye and Gregory M. Rose of Guilford, Conn., Kimberly Mary and Daniel T. Washington of Davis, and Melinda Ann Frye of Fort Collins, Colo., and her husband, Jeffrey D. Edwards of Arvada, Colo; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Gerard and Catherine Frye of Windsor; her mother, Gladys Brandt Parr of Waterloo, Iowa; three sisters, Claire Ann Nebbitt of Everett, Wash., Kathleen Mullen of Renton, Wash., and Diane Davis of Lamont, Iowa; and two brothers, James Parr of Chatsworth and Creighton Parr of Waterloo, Iowa.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Julian Rose of Guilford, Conn., Richard Washabaugh and Michael Washabaugh, both of Davis, and Brittany Frye of Windsor; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Thursday in the St. Joseph Chapel at the Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton. Father Petrus Binh Hoang of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Beaverton officiated. A reception followed at the Maryville Nursing Home. Private interment will be held.

Memorial donations may be made to the Henry Kuckenberg Center for Alzheimer's at Maryville Nursing Home, 14645 SW Farmington Road, Beaverton, OR 97007.

Fuiten, Rose and Hoyt Funeral Home of Forest Grove, Ore., was in charge of the arrangements.

FUENTES

Jose Manuel 'Manuel' Fuentes

Jose Manuel "Manuel" Fuentes died in Las Vegas, Nev. following a complications of diabetes on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at age 55.

Born Aug. 27, 1948, in Colonia Pacheco, Chihuahua, Mexico, Mr. Fuentes was raised in Nacori Chico, Sonora, Mexico. He moved in Woodland in 1987 to work in the farm. He worked for McAvary Brothers in Dunnigan and then for Heidrick Farms. He was also an auto mechanic.

Survivors include his daughters, Alma and Marina Fuentes of Sonora, Mexico; mother, Carlota Fuentes of Bullhead City, Ariz.; brothers; Rafael B. Fuentes and wife Juanita of Woodland, Fidel M. Fuentes of Sonora, Mexico, and Fermin Fuentes and wife Olivia of Davis; sisters, Guadalupe Fuentes, Yoyi Fuentes, Rosa Fuentes, Luz Fuentes, Hilda Fuentes, all of Sonora, Mexico and Marisol Fuentes and husband Manuel Garcia of Bullhead City, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews, including, Cindy Brambila and husband Jose, Janie Ramos and husband Miguel, Benito R. Fuentes Jr. and Lizeth Fuentes, all of Woodland, Vanessa Fuentes of Davis and Manuel Jr. and Martin Garcia of Bullhead City, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his father, Benito Fuentes; brothers, Martin and Leobardo Fuentes; and niece, Jessica Fuentes.

Services: Services will be held in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

FULLERTON

Michael Steven Fullerton

Michael Steven Fullerton, 39, of Colcord, Oklahoma, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Siloam Springs Arkansas. He was born Oct. 14, 1960, in Woodland. He was a former resident of Davis and Esparto, and attended schools there.

Mr. Fullerton is survived by his parents, Fred and Janet (Tarp) Fullerton of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; wife, Cynthia; daughters, Christie Lea and Stephanie Renee; son, Michael Jr., all of Colcord, Oklahoma; brothers, Fred Jr. of Guinda, Robert of Siloam Springs, David of Redding, and Steven of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; grandparents, Harold and Virginia Brackett of Esparto.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lanea Fullerton, grandparents Gus and Edith Fullerton and Norman Tharp.

Funeral services were held July 6 at the Robinson Baptist Church, with burial at Yell Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Arrangements were handled by Wasson Funeral Home.

FULTON

Gertrude (Trudy) Ellyne Fulton

Gertrude Ellyne Fulton passed away on Feb. 16, 2004, at her home. Born June 27, 1915 in Markleyville, she was a great lover of horses and started riding when she was seven years old. She was a Winters area resident for 70 years.

Trudy paraded horses for years and was the overall Nevada high point rider in 1989 and 1991. In 1994 she was the California overall high point rider. In 2002 at the age of 86, she started riding and showing gaited horses and won three high point year-end awards in the Pacific Coast Fox Trotter Club.

She is survived by her children, John, Lawrence, Thomas and Leah Fulton (Singleton), seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John.

There will be a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Yolo Hospice in Davis.

FULTON

John Edward Fulton

John Edward Fulton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather died May 8, 2002 of natural causes. He was born Aug. 14, 1911 in Oxnard, California. When he was five years old, in 1916, his parents bought a ranch in Winters where he lived for the next 85 years.

Mr. Fulton went to Wolfskill Elementary and graduated from Winters High School. Upon graduation, he had several different careers, including: breaking mustangs, delivering mail, hauling dynamite, building roads and dams, and farming in Winters, Dixon and Sacramento.

His wife of 69 years, Trudy Fulton, his four children, John Harold Fulton, Lawrence Fulton, Thomas Fulton and Leah Singleton. His seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive him.

A memorial service was held at 8642 Tubbs Road on Saturday, May 11, for close friends and family.

Mr. Fulton had a great love of life and was very active until a few short weeks ago. He had a sound body and mind up until the end, and will be greatly missed. He was a success to all of those that knew him.

FURLAN

Emile Fortunato Furlan

Emile Fortunato Furlan died at his home in Knights Landing on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 at age 89.

Mr. Furlan was born July 20, 1916 in Sarone di Caneva, Italy to Pietro and Anna (Granziera) Furlan. He had been a resident of Knights Landing for 55 years and a farmer for more than 70 years. During World War II, he served with the Free French Army from 1944 until the end of the war. A telecommunications specialist, he served in both the European and North African campaigns and had been the radio operator who transmitted the message announcing the armistice to the troops throughout Europe. While living in France, he was a championship bicycle racer and rugby player. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Knights Landing and Club Fran¨ais de Sacramento.

Survivors include Mr. Furlan's wife of 59 years, Simone (Saphy) Furlan of Knights Landing; his daughters, Helen McGill and her husband Kevin of Sacramento and Michele Leonard and her husband Jim of Seattle; his sons, Bernard Furlan and his wife Sandra of Yuba City and Paul Furlan of Woodland; his grandchildren, Eric Furlan, Lauren McGill, Patrick and Alison Leonard; his five step-grandchildren, Heather Marsh, Brook Hampy and Daniel, Benjamin and Nicholas McGill; and his sisters, Marie Pellizon of Sacramento and Louise Mombrini of Cancon, France. He was preceded in death by his sister and five brothers.

The family requests memorials in Mr. Furlan's name be directed to Summer House Inc., 206 Fifth St., Woodland, 95695; Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617; or to St. Paul's Catholic Church, Knights Landing, 95645.

Services: Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. with a rosary said at 7 p.m. today, Friday, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. Interment will follow the Mass at Monument Hill Memorial Park. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
