(Past member of Kedron Dells Golf Club, Canada Post retiree) passed away peacefully at Rouge Valley Health, Ajax on his 86th birthday, Saturday July 14, 2007. Beloved husband of Frances Thursby. Loving father of Linda Tamney (Rod), Joan Thursby (Jim Greene) and Donna Filion (Bret). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Danny, Dale, Darryl, Laura, Trevor, Candice and Connor. Dear brother of Helen Turner. Predeceased by his sister Irene Ihnat and his brothers Clarence and Mervin Thursby. Resting at The ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church, 194 Simcoe Street North, on Tuesday July 17th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation. MORRISSEY, Bernard “Bernie” Earl
As was his wish Bernie passed away in the comfort of his home with his family by his side, July 13th 2007 at age 78. Loved husband of Elizabeth (Betty). Father of David and his wife Charmaine, Brian and his wife Tracey, Michael and his girl friend Elizabeth. Lovingly remembered by his grandson Joshua, his granddaughter Amanda and feline companion Ninja. Dear son of the late Edward and Irene Morrissey of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Cherished nana of 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Beloved sister of Willard, Ann and Jim. Loving Opa of David, Katherine, Jennifer, Adam and Samantha. Predeceased by Sarah. Brother of Mien, Marietje and Theo. Predeceased by Drika, Bertha, John, Peter, Martien and Noud. Son of the late Hubertus and Martina Van Hout. Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 79 Baldwin Street Brooklin Village from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday ( July 18) Then to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Watford Street Brooklin for Mass of Christian Burial Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby. WILLIAMS, Philip Hugh
(retired from General Motors) – passed away peacefully at The Wynfield Residence, Oshawa, on Friday, July 13, 2007, in his 91st year. Phil, loving husband of the late Wilda Johnson and the late Aresta Ann (nee Martin). Step-father of Glenda Johnson and her husband Raymond Los of Norwood and Gary Johnson of Toronto. Step-grandfather of Krista and Greg and their daughter Ava, Mark, and Jennie. Uncle of Sandra Kelsey, and also survived by many other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Tuesday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m., with visiting for one hour prior to the service. Veteran of World War II, Member Of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419, Port Perry. passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Lakeridge Health in Port Perry on Thursday July 12, 2007 in his 94th year. Joe Burrows husband of the late Jessie Burrows. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving companion Barb Pascoe. Loving father of Bonnie (Colin) Alford and Penny (Bob) Starr. Special Grampy of Nickie (Christina) Alford, Stacey (Dennis) Gatti, Ryan (Katie) Starr, Courtney Starr and great grandfather of Joey, Claire, Emily and Adalina. Dear brother of Russ Burrows. HOPKINS, Harold “Hoppy”
passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 12th, 2007. Survived by his loving wife Kay of 54 years. Sadly missed by his children Larry and Linda Hopkins, Terry and Stephanie Hopkins, Karen and Steve Fracz, Brian and Linda Hopkins, Julie and Bob Chapman. Proud Popa to Ashley, Zach, Cple, Tyler, Amanda, Laura and Brett. Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Kathryn, as well as a sister Nora. Survived by his brother Gerald and his sister Johanna. Harold will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, family and friends. Harold was a General Supervisor at General Motors, Oshawa Car Assembly Plant and retired after 43.2 years of service. We will miss our best friend, for his wisdom and sense of humor. KING, Maureen (nee Cameron)
Died peacefully July 11, 2007 in her 89th year, of illnesses that weakened her body while the mind remained sharp. Her determination to be part of life kept her going a surprisingly long time. Maureen was born April 27th, 1919 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her parents were George and Susan (nee Rogers) Cameron and siblings Duncan, Robert, Bessie and Phyllis predeceased her. Maureen married Alfred King, 1946, in Belfast. They immigrated to Canada in 1949. Most of their 37 years of married life was spent at 919 Bayview Avenue, Whitby, Ontario. When Alf died in 1983 Maureen forged ahead meeting new challenges. Maureen and Alfred are survived by Alan, Paul (wife Susan), Elaine, Gayle (and husband Gary Dudeck). She was grandma to Leigh-Anne, Christopher, Adam, Matthew, Thomas, Peter, Chloe and Bradley. She will be missed by her niece Helen Rohacek (nee Walker) and nephews Cameron Walker and Gordon Cameron. We are overwhelmingly grateful for the kind care and companionship she experienced at Wyndfield Long-Term Care, Oshawa. Friends and family are invited to St. John's Anglican Church, Whitby. The visitation will be held Monday, July 16th, 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to St. John's Anglican Church, 150 Victoria St. East, Whitby, Ontario L1N 9L8 (corner of Brock and Victoria) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Wednesday July 11, 2007 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Mildred Daisy Le Blanc for 58 years. Loving father of Don (Wendy) and Russ “Rusty” (Pat). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Michelle, Amy, Beth and Amanda. Dear brother of Odessa Hubbard of Yarmouth, N.S. and Theresa D’Amore of Massachusetts, U.S.A. He will greatly missed for his humourous quotes, guitar playing, singing and his loving manner. Sister of Anna, Felice and the late Edda and Clara. Lili will be deeply missed by her dear and loving caregiver Flordeliza and by her closest and dearest friend Adeline. Mass will be celebrated for Lili at 1 p.m. at St. Bernadette Church (21 Bayly Street East, Ajax). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rouge Valley Health Centre Ajax Site, would be appreciated. Her beautiful spirit and unique sense of humour were an inspiration to us all.
