Wiseman of Shoal Harbour in her 71st year. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband William of 51 years; daughter Brenda (Doug Barnes), Sarnia, Ont.; sons Freeman (Lily), Shoal Harbour, Tony (Anne Marie), Clarenville and Dean (Madonna), Shoal Harbour; sisters Phyllis Philpott, Annie Hancock, Dulcie (Merlin Feltham) and Kathy (Geoff Muggridge); brothers Wayne (Roselyn) Starkes and Sterling (Sharon) Starkes; grandchildren Tonya, Wendy, Dana, Melissa, Christine, Suzanne and Tyler and a large number of relatives and friends. RYAN, Kevin A. - passed away suddenly at St. John`s on April 11, 2001, aged 50 years, Kevin Anthony Ryan formerly of St. Brendan`s and Fermeuse. Predeceased by his parents Josephine and Gregory Ryan and grandparents Nan and Pop Smith and Nan Kelland. Leaving to mourn: his loving wife and best friend Shirley (nee Kelland), precious children Gregory, Erin, and Sara whom he cherished dearly. Also brothers Tom (Jomie), Dennis (Judy) and Rod; sister Elizabeth (Bess) Hollett. Also, parents-in-law Peter and Sarah Kelland (Gander), brother-in-law Ted Kelland (Carol), sisters-in-law Diane (John) Warren, and Peggy (Wayne) Holly, and many nieces and nephews. Kevin will be missed by his many friends and relatives. Kevin was first a loving family man and was a devoted and beloved teacher at Virginia Park Elementary. He touched his students` lives and was deeply touched by the passing of three of his special students - R.J. Puddicombe, Robbie Hryviw, and Stephanie Greeley. Kevin was a caring nurse and advocate for his children at the Janeway. Beyond the classroom and the hospital, he made time to guide children as a scout leader, a school counsellor, a soccer and basketball coach. For himself, Kevin found time for floor hockey, bicycling, and running. Special thanks to Irene Barry, Susan Doyle, and David Molyneux, who shared his last good run. He`ll finish his marathon in heaven. Kevin is resting at Caul`s Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road. Visitation hours are from 7-10 p.m. Saturday evening; 2-4 and 7-10 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Funeral services will take place at St. Mark`s Anglican Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. MERCER, George - passed away at the Health Sciences Center on October 5, 2001, George Mercer, aged 61 years, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Leaving to mourn loving and devoted wife of forty-five years Josephine (nee Dempsey); five daughters and three sons: Glenda, Brenda, Geraldine and husband Don, Judy, Sandie, Albert and wife Diane, George Jr., and John (Debbie); special grandsons Kenny and Stephen and a large number of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn three sisters: Florence (husband Jim Murphy), Marian, Francis (husband Bob Holleran); three step-brothers; stepmother Francis Downey; sisters-in-law: Joan Anthony (husband Wilf) and niece Tina, Helen Putt; brother-in-law Fred Dempsey; and a large number of extended family and friends. She leaves to mourn her loving and supportive husband Terry Barnes; brothers: Edward (Nell), Eric (Madonna); sister-in-law Bernadette and their families, all of St. John`s; and brother-in-law Peter Carmody (Shirley) and family of Iverness, Scotland. Also leaving to mourn her mother-in-law Edna Barnes; brothers-in-law Randy (Madonna), Darrell (Lorilee), Johnny (Julie); sisters-in-law Karen Synyard (Johnny) and Joanne Dwyer (Jim), as well as a large number of relatives and friends, especially her loyal caregiver and dear friend Jackie Hennessey.
