Dorothy L. Schnuerle
Dorothy L. Schnuerle, 87, Berthoud Living Center, died Jan. 7, 2006, in Berthoud.
She was born Jan. 10, 1918, in Seldon, Kan., to Herman and Henrietta Thieler. She moved to Franklin, Neb., at the age of 2. She completed high school in Franklin in 1935. She married Marvin J. Schnuerle on Feb. 14, 1940, in Beaver City, Neb.
They had four children in Nebraska and moved to Colorado in 1952, where a fifth child was born. After a three-year adventure in Alaska, she moved back to the Loveland-Greeley area where she lived until her death.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck and wife Gail Schnuerle, and George and wife Kim Schnuerle, all of Greeley; two daughters, Janet and husband J.D. Fishel of Loveland, and Debbie Carl of Greeley; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Schnuerle of Parachute; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Rapp and Viola Minninck, two brothers, Glenn Thieler and Orville Thieler, and a son, Marvin D. Schnuerle.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin.
Northern Colorado Crematory in Greeley is in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Lee SHIVLEY
SHIVLEY, Ralph Lee, passed away on Dec. 31, 2005, in Loveland. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Allnutt-Hunter Chapel.
Ralph Lee SHIVLEY passed away at the age of 94 years, nine months and 19 days on Dec. 31, 2005, in Loveland.
He was born March 12, 1911, in Vernon, Colo., to Clyde and Wade Ann (Easton) Shivley, where he attended school and farmed.
He married Berneice W. Hussfeldt at the home of her stepfather and mother, Earl and Edith Murphy, at Eckley, Colo., on April 30, 1935. They moved to Kirk, Colo., in March 1943, where they farmed and raised their family.
In Kirk, Ralph was actively involved as a charter member of the Kirk Lions Club. He served on the board of the Co-op Grocery Store and PTA and helped with Boy Scouts, softball and numerous other community events. Ralph always found time to attend sporting events and school activities and always participated in various games at home with his four children.
He retired from the farm in 1979 and moved to Loveland, fulfilling his lifelong dream.
After retirement, Ralph dedicated his spare time to activities at the Chilson Senior Center and enjoyed watching sports on TV. He attended sporting events at all three of the new sports complexes, Invesco Field, Coors Field and the Pepsi Center, after his 90th birthday.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Berneice of Loveland; daughters Ruth and Bob Dicky of Norcatur, Kan., Mary and Larry Allen of Idalia, Colo., and Vicky and Don Burnan of Denver; a son, Albert and Sandy Shivley of Brighton; a brother, Alva Shivley; a sister, Gladys Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He cherished their visits. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was one of 12 siblings and was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Allnutt Hunter Chapel.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Chilson Senior Center or Hospice of Larimer County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.

David M. SPEICH
SPEICH, David M., of Berthoud. Memorial services 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Longmont. Cremation has been completed. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
David M. SPEICH, 57, of Berthoud, died Jan. 5, 2006, at Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
He was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Houston, Texas, to Ralph J. and and Jean McIlhenny Speich. He married Tracy Middleton on Nov. 25, 1989, in Navasota, Texas.
He graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, the University of Houston, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the University of Colorado in Boulder.
He was a space scientist and solar forecaster for the Space Environment Center of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/Department of Commerce, retiring Oct. 1, 1999, in Boulder.
He served in the U.S. Navy and received the Navy Achievement Medal.
He lived in Colorado for 30 years and lived in Berthoud for the past three years.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Longmont. He enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Speich of Berthoud; a daughter, Lisa Mannino of Houston; his father, Ralph Speich of Navasota; two brothers, Randolph Speich and William Speich, both of Houston; a sister, Carrie Speich of Houston; two grand-children; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 1303 S. Bross Lane, Longmont. The Rev. Max Bailey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Viegut Funeral Home, 1440 N. Boise Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.

Sau Thi TRAN
TRAN, Sau Thi, of Loveland. Services will be held 9-11 a.m. Sunday, January 8, Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home. Cremation to follow the service.
Sau Thi TRAN, 79, of Loveland died Jan. 6, 2006, in Loveland.
She is survived by her two sons, TuVan Le and Sang Le, and their spouses; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 9-11 a.m. Sunday, Janurary 8, at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave.
Cremation will follow services.

Bradley P. “Brad” WAITE
WAITE, Bradley P. “Brad”, 48, of Loveland. Son of Jack C. and Dorleen A. Waite. Private cremation service with inurnment in family cemetery in Superior, Wis.
Bradley P. “Brad” WAITE, 48, of Loveland died Jan. 1, 2006, at his home in Loveland.
He was born July 19, 1957, in Superior, Wis., to Jack C. Waite and Dorleen A. Bergeson Waite. He attended and graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1975, after which he attended Wisconsin Industrial Technical College.
He worked in Minneapolis, Minn., for a couple of years before moving to Loveland in 1980, where he began his employment with Hewlett-Packard and later at Agilent. He was with the test and measurement division as a troubleshooter. He had been with Hewlett-Packard-Agilent for 25 years.
He is survived by his parents, Jack C. and Dorleen A. Waite of Mesa, Ariz., and Superior, Wis.; a sister, Cynthia Kleinendorst and husband Thomas of Andover, Minn.; one niece and one nephew.
Private family cremation services have been conducted with inurnment to be in the family cemetery in Superior, Wis.
Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Coral Kathleen WILD
WILD, Coral Kathleen, of Loveland. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Coral Kathleen WILD, 86, died at her home in Loveland on Jan. 7, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Elkhart, Iowa, the ninth of 10 children. She married Raymond Phillip Wild on June 18, 1938, in Bethany, Mo. Kathleen had been a cosmetologist since the age of 18, supporting her family while her husband served in World War II. After Ray’s return from the war, they lived in Des Moines, Iowa, for many years. Their favorite pastime was to go dancing every Saturday night.
In retirement, they became snowbirds, heading south for the winter. Eventually, they moved permanently to McAllen, Texas, where they made many new friends. While in McAllen, Kathleen volunteered in the local hospital’s neonatal ward and tutored school children. She also enjoyed golfing and shopping at the local bazaars.
She became a widow in 1998, and in 2001 moved to Loveland to be near her family; again making many new friends. Here, she enjoyed going to exercise classes and other activities at the Chilson Senior Center; participated in a monthly lunch club; and maintained a keen interest in current events. She particularly enjoyed the Senior Center’s annual plant sale, having been a lifelong gardener. She was known for her elegant sense of style, her tremendous sense of humor, and her love and concern for others. Also - her flaming red hair.
She is survived by her daughters, Janell Haggerty and husband Don of Loveland, and Jonann Wild of Washington, D.C.; her grandchildren, Patti Loring and husband Phil of Loveland, Dr. Rick Place and wife Michelle of Bethesda, Md., Debbie Guinn and husband Scott of Loveland, and Connie Gliott of Loveland; her great-grandchildren, Riley, Emily and Christopher Place, Connor Kennedy, and Megan and Alex Gliott; a brother, Dale Owen and wife Maxine of Elkhart, Iowa; special friends, Janet and Clarence Schwab, David Droegemueller, and Donna Barr; and many other friends.
She has impacted the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Larimer County and House of Neighborly Service in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80537.

LaVern E. Bahlman, Sr.
Bahlman, Sr., LaVern E., 85, of Loveland. Visitation 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 21 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Military honors by the Marine Corps League Detachment 785. Survivors include wife Maxine Bahlmann and son LaVern Bahlmann Jr., both of Loveland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in care of Resthaven Funeral Home.
LaVern E. Bahlman, Sr., 85, of Loveland died Feb. 17, 2006, in Loveland.
He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Henry and Martha Gerstonkorn Bahlmann.
He married Maxine Witcher on Sept. 20, 1946, in Minnesota.
Mr. Bahlmann was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II from June 16, 1942, to June 15, 1946, handling artillery. He proudly flew a flag at his home every day.
He was a heavy-equipment operator for the city of Waterloo, Iowa. He and his family moved to Loveland from Waterloo 15 years ago.
He was both a Broncos fan and a NASCAR fan and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, first in Iowa then in Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Bahlmann of Loveland; one son, LaVern E. Bahlmann Jr. and wife Laura, also of Loveland; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bahlmann.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel north of Loveland, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m.
Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens following the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S. U.S. 287, Fort Collins, CO 80525.

Shawn Patrick Brinkman
Shawn Patrick Brinkman, 34, of Windsor died Feb. 15, 2006, in Fort Collins.
He was born March 5, 1971, to Jerome and Therese (Tindall) Brinkman in Estherville, Iowa. He grew up in Estherville and enjoyed life on the farm. In 1985, the family moved to Windsor, where he attended school and graduated from Windsor High School in 1990.
On March 13, 1993, he married Brenda Harding in Loveland. He became a father in 1995 and again in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, Scouting and attending his sons’ sporting and school events. His children were his life.
Mr. Brinkman also enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture and was very creative. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Mr. Brinkman had a hearing disorder for most of his life, but he had a cochlear implant in November of 2005 and was finally able to enjoy the world as never before.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Brinkman; two sons, Jacob and Joshua Brinkman, both of Windsor; his father, Jerome Brinkman and Julie
Toppenburg of Loveland; parents-in-law, Kent and Jackie Werner of Severance and Fred and Connie Harding of Henderson, Nev.; three sisters and their husbands, Julie and Paul Calvin of Clive, Iowa, Monica and Mark Dymerski of Arvada, and Amy and Paul Sherling of Carr; two brothers and their wives, Mark and Luann Brinkman of Olivia, Mont., and Paul and Janet Brinkman of Brush; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Therese Brinkman, on March 5, 2000, and his grandparents.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1250 Seventh St., Windsor. Friends may visit Monday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Adamson West Chapel. Contributions can be made to the Shawn Brinkman Memorial Fund in care of Adamson Memorial Chapels, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.

Thomas Joseph Flom
Thomas Joseph Flom, 97, formerly of Loveland, died Jan. 18, 2006, at Torrington Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyo.
He was born Aug. 30, 1908, to Nels and Carrie (Vold) Flom on a farm in Williams Township in North Dakota. He was taken out of school after his elementary education in order to work on the family farm.
Mr. Flom became interested in parachutes and began testing equipment for Jahn Aerial Life Saving Apparatus company in Minnesota. His job required him to walk out on the wings of biplanes and jump off. His most famous jump was onto the grounds of the world trade fair in Canada.
He married Aggie Sathre on May 10, 1934, at Grand Forks, N.D., where he was working for the railroad. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a parachute rigger aboard the USS Matanikau in the Pacific.
After his discharge in 1946, Mr. Flom moved his family to Augusta, Mont., where he operated the Lazy B Hotel, Bar and Cafe. They moved to Loveland in 1949, where Mr. Flom worked in construction until 1955. He owned and operated Mile High Stamping until it was sold. He and Aggie lived in Boulder until she died, and Mr. Flom moved to Fort Laramie, Wyo., to be closer to his children.
He is survived by a son, Gary Flom and wife Janice of Torrington; a daughter, Vicki Pomeroy and husband Ron of Fort Laramie, Wyo.; sisters Dee Williamson of Loveland, Lillian Johnson of Lake City, Minn., Vernille Thiel and husband Lawrence of Antioch, Ill., and Caroll Jeanne Shortridge and husband Ray of Fort Collins; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, David.
Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington handled the arrangements.

Herbert “Herbie” FRITCHELL
FRITCHELL, Herbert “Herbie”, 56, of Loveland died Feb. 15, 2006, at Poudre Valley Hospital. A potluck will be held in his honor at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at 828 E. Seventh St., Loveland, CO. Please call his brother Rodney at 576-1298 with any questions.

David John Hotchkis
David John Hotchkis, 41, passed away Feb. 8, 2006, at his home in Loveland. David was a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend.
David was born July 15, 1964, to Richard and Mary Ann Hotchkiss of Waukegan, Ill., where he grew up and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1982. David’s life was focused on developing his music and art, while he worked in specialty painting of cars, trucks and signs.
He recently moved to Colorado in March of 2005 and was actively pursuing his music career. David was a natural born musician who loved to play the guitar and keyboard and was an avid songwriter. He ran a home-based business in designing and building custom guitars.
David was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by his son, Paul Scott Hotchkiss of Colman, S.D.; a sister, Susan, of Loveland; two brothers, Michael of Greeley and Paul and wife Lynn of Phoenix, Ariz.; a niece, Rebecca; and four nephews, Jeremy of Greeley and Chad, Brad and Christopher of Phoenix, Ariz.
Memorial services will be private. An open house for those wishing to pay condolences will be held 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 4446 Sunknoll Drive in Loveland.

Elizabeth K. JOHNSON
JOHNSON, Elizabeth K., of Berthoud. Funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 21 at First United Methodist Church of Berthoud. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. Viewing 4-8 p.m. Monday at Viegut Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Berthoud in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
Elizabeth K. JOHNSON, 96, of Berthoud died Feb. 17, 2006, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
She was born Oct. 17, 1909, in Norka, Russia, to John and Margaret Sterkel Krieger.
She moved from Russia to Galveston, Texas, in 1912, then moved to Berthoud in 1913.
She married Willie Tony Johnson in June 1930 in Berthoud and became a citizen in the 1930s.
She was a homemaker, a very active member of the Berthoud First United Methodist Church and a member of the Busy Bee Club.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, baking, singing in the choir, quilting at the church, playing cards and working with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur Lee Johnson and wife Sara Lynn of Berthoud, and William Dean Johnson and wife Teri of Berthoud; two daughters, Marjorie Werschke of Arvada and Charlene Brehm and husband Robert of Berthoud; brother John Krieger Jr. of Berthoud; sister Mary Kaiser of Loveland; grandchildren Cheri Stevenson, Bruce Werschke, James Brehm, Kristie Anne Levitt, Eric Lee Johnson, Shelby Charise Johnson, Ashley Elizabeth Johnson, Kelsey Lee Johnson and Bailey Renae Johnson; great grandchildren Elijah Lee Stevenson, Brian James Brehm, Sheena Elizabeth Brehm; step-great grandchildren Joseph Finney, Nichole Finney and Nick Finney; and great-great grandchildren Claire Elizabeth Levitt and Penelope Marie Levitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers George, Conrad and Adam; sisters Christine Katherine and Anna; and son-in-law Lee Werschke.
Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Berthoud First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stephanie Munoz presiding.
Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud.
Memorial contributions can be made to Berthoud First United Methodist Church in care of Viegut Funeral Home, 1440 N. Boise Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.
