Mary Dugdale, a former Stamford resident, died Saturday, Dec. 14, at Manor Care in Sarasota, Fla. She was 84. She died of heart failure, according to her family. Born Jan. 29, 1918, in Meriden, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline Margewicz. Mrs. Dugdale lived in Stamford for 45 years until moving to Sarasota in 1971. While in Stamford, she worked at Bozak Speaker Corp., Stamford Hospital and the American Red Cross, all in Stamford. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn Murray of Norwalk and Sarasota; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Dugdale; a son, "Dug" Dugdale; a sister, Sophie Holowinko; and a brother, John Margewicz. A memorial service was held Dec. 19 in Sarasota. Archibald "Archie" Gainer Duncan, a Norwalk resident, died Thursday, Oct. 10, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 89. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born Aug. 14, 1913, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late James P. and Frances E. Duncan. Mr. Duncan worked for Chevron Oil in Rhode Island and Peckham Materials in Stamford. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. Duncan of Branden, Fla., and Heath A. Duncan of Norwalk; a sister, Almira O. Duncan of Lander, Wyo.; three grandsons; and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria M.L. Duncan; three brothers, James J. Duncan, George Duncan and Gerard Duncan; four sisters, Elizabeth M. Duncan Nash, Francis E. Duncan Olsen, Mary W. Duncan Boss and Grace M. Duncan Neugent. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Paul's Church, 471 Mansfield Ave., Darien.

Carol Jean Montgomery Dunn of Bridgeport, formerly of Stamford, died Friday, Jan. 17, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. She was 57. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born June 19, 1945, in Stamford, she was a daughter of Doris DePina Montgomery of Bridgeport and the late Robert Lee Montgomery. Mrs. Dunn was employed at Omega Engineering in Springdale as a customer-care representative. She provided child care at her home in Bridgeport, where she lived for 17 years. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Bridgeport. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Phillip Darrow Dunn and Michael Dunn, both of Bridgeport; a daughter, Carol Fraiser of New Rochelle, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Ramos of West Haven; a sister, Angelina Reynolds of Pleasantville, N.J.; seven grandchildren; two nephews; a niece; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Montgomery. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Bethel AME Church, 110 Grove St., Bridgeport, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodland cemeteryin Stamford. Janis Lee Du Val of New Canaan, died Monday, Sept. 22 at home. She was 74. She died of heart failure, according to her family. Born April 12, 1929 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Locke and John Charles Lee Jr. Mrs. Du Val grew up in Weston and Darien, where she belonged to The Tokeneke Club. After graduating from The Spence School in New York City, she attended the Barmore School, also in New York City. In the early 1950s, she moved to New Canaan, where she raised three children. She was involved in many volunteer associations and was president of The West School PTA and president of the Junior League. She was a member of The Country Club of New Canaan, where she chaired the Women's Golf Committee and served on the Board of Governors. Mrs. Du Val was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Philip L.R. Du Val of New Canaan; a daughter, Connie Emmons Brown of New Canaan; a son, David W. Emmons of Tiburon, Calif.; two step-daughters, Alexandra Bongaerts-Du Val of New Canaan and Cookie Agnew of Big Timber, Mont.; and six grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Peter B. Emmons Jr.; and a step-son, Philip L.R. Du Val II. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27 at The First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan. Domenica "Mary" Zezima Eckman of Plantsville, a former Stamford resident, died Saturday, June 26, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was 83. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born in Sette Fratte, Italy, on Feb. 7, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Gerardo and Petronella Vitti Zezima. She moved to Stamford when she was 8 and lived in the city until 10 months ago, when she moved to Plantsville. Mrs. Eckman was a retired line assembly supervisor and union representative at the Norma Hoffman Bearing Co. in Stamford. She was a parishioner of St. Benedict-Our Lady of Monserrat Church and loved to oil-paint religious figures. She was an avid beach walker and New York Mets fan. She is survived by three sons, Daniel V. Eckman of Jacksonville, Fla., James E. Eckman Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C., and Gary P. Eckman of Plantsville; three sisters, Carmella Cardone of Broomfield, Colo., Ann Whitman of Norwalk and Phyllis Gruner of Stamford; a brother, Jerry Zezima of Wilton; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James E. Eckman Sr.; and three brothers, Joseph Zezima, Anthony Zezima and Michael Zezima. Catherine Page Edwards of Dunnellon, Fla., a former Stamford resident and active volunteer, died Friday, Feb. 28, at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. She was 87. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Jan. 31, 1916, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Clarence F. and Katherine Whitehead Underwood. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker. She also worked part-time for the Visiting Nurse Association as a dental assistant. She was an active volunteer, donating her time at a thrift shop in Stamford and at Stamford Hospital for many years. She was honored by Connecticut Legislature for outstanding community service about 25 years ago. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford. She lived in Stamford for 50 years, before moving to Dunnellon 17 years ago. She was a member of the Dunnellon Presbyterian Church, where she was also was a member of the Presbyterian Woman's Association. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard B. Edwards of Dunnellon; a son, Richard C. Edwards of Monroe, N.Y.; a daughter, Sharon S. Edwards of Ocala, Fla.; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Underwood; and a half-sister, Valerie Hart. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Dunnellon Presbyterian Church, 20641 Chestnut St., Dunnellon. Eldred Eldred of Wilton, an activist, died Monday, June 16, at Wilton Meadows in Wilton. He was 90. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born Robert Eldred Schneider on Oct. 17, 1912, in Union, N.Y., he was the son of the late Louis and Catherine Ann Lewis Eldred. He changed his name to Eldred Eldred about 15 years ago. He wanted to go simply by the name Eldred, but chose to use it as a first and last name because Social Security officials told him he was required to have two names, according to his daughter, Suzy Shukovsky of Wilton. As an opponent to nuclear power and weapons, the death penalty and other issues, he was involved in so many peaceful protests that his church noted his 75th arrest at his 75th birthday, according to his daughter. Mr. Eldred lived most of life in Berkeley, Calif., before moving to Wilton four years ago. He worked as a self-employed taxi driver before his retirement about 30 years ago. Mr. Eldred served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II and earned the Silver Star. During the war he skippered a PT boat in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. In addition to his daughter, Suzy, he is survived by three sons, Peter Schneider of Wilton, Robert Schneider of Berkeley and Scott Schneider of New Britain; another daughter, Kit Ann Sober of Reno, Nev.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Douglas E. Ellerbee, a longtime Stamford resident and office manager, died Thursday, Nov. 13, at Stamford Hospital. He was 55. He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family. Born Jan. 28, 1948, in Marlboro County, S.C., he was a son of the late Henry and Minnie Ellerbee. Mr. Ellerbee lived in Stamford for more than 38 years. He worked at Olin Corp. in Stamford for more than 25 years, retiring as manager of office operations. After retiring, he worked as a tax consultant. He attended Wilson Memorial COGIC in Stamford. He is survived by his companion of 36 years, Deloris Joyner of Stamford; a son, Damon Joyner of Stamford; a daughter, Lashon Joyner of Norwalk; four brothers, Robert Ellerbee Sr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., Willie Ellerbee of Baltimore and Charles Ellerbee Sr. and Lee Edward Ellerbee, both of Benson, N.C.; a sister, Carolyn Williams of Fayetteville, N.C.; two aunts; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, James Ellerbee, Ardell Ellerbee and James Junior Ellerbee; and five sisters, Clydiest Curtis, Thelma Scott, Jessie Barber, Ora Bell and Barbara Jean Ellerbee. Earl E. Erickson, a longtime Norwalk resident and retired carpenter, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 84. He died of diabetes, according to his family. Born Oct. 17, 1919, in Danbury, he was a son of the late Carl and Mae Waddell Erickson. Mr. Erickson served on the USS Wakefield with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He lived in Norwalk for about 60 years. He retired from the Carpenter's Local 210 in Stamford after more than 50 years of membership. He is survived by his son, Barin Erickson of Norwalk; a brother, Donald Erickson of Fairfield; a sister, Marie Young of Danbury; two granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith Klein Erickson; and two brothers, Kenneth Erickson and Richard Erickson. Born Feb. 23, 1922 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Carmela Christiano Singer. She is survived by her husband, Emilio Esposito of Stamford; a daughter, Debra Alonzi of Stamford; two sons, Kenneth Esposito and Rick Esposito, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Joseph J. Singer Sr. of Norwalk; a sister, Lucille Loughran of Stamford; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Tibor Etlenyi of Stamford died Tuesday, June 15, at Greenwich Hospital. He was 82. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born July 27, 1921, in Becsked, Hungary, he was the son of the late John and Maria Szlaninka Etlenyi. Mr. Etlenyi worked for Bangor Punta Co. of Greenwich for 15 years before retirement. He had lived in Stamford for the past 30 years. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Darien. He is survived by his wife, Ilona Jeszenszky of Stamford; and a stepson, Peter Toth-Solymossy of New York City. There will be no calling hours. Evelyn Lee Evans, a retired chemist who lived in Stamford for 30 years, died Friday, July 11, at Stamford Hospital. She was 65. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born Nov. 12, 1937, in Canton, China, she was the daughter of the late Sing and Lan Bick Wong Lee. Mrs. Evans immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s. She graduated in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Boston University. She lived in Providence, R.I., until moving to Greenwich in 1967. She moved to Stamford a year later. Mrs. Evans worked as a chemist for Clairol in Stamford for 35 years until retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greenwich. She was a volunteer at the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford and a member of the Clairol Retirement Association. She is survived by two sons, Kent Robert Evans and Robert Paul Evans, both of Stamford; three brothers, Kue Doon Lee of Providence, Kue Yick Lee of Stamford and Bernard K. Lee of Troy, Mich.; and three nieces and four nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased in 1994 by her husband, E. Alan Evans. Richard Everett Jr. of Damariscotta and Loud's Island, both in Maine, a former Stamford resident, died Saturday, Feb. 1, at Schooner Cove, a retirement residence in Damariscotta. He was 100. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born Feb. 23, 1902, in New York City, Mr. Everett graduated from Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Mass., and attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H., before earning a bachelor's degree from the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven. There he was awarded the Winchester Fellowship. As a partner in the former architectural firm Provost & Everett in Stamford, he designed many homes and educational facilities, including the Willard School in the late 1940s. He was a lifetime member of the American Institute of Architects. For many years, Mr. Everett was director of the real estate department of Singer Manufacturing Co. in New York City, where he was in charge of a worldwide network of sewing shops and manufacturing and executive office facilities. He is survived by a son, Richard Everett III of Gloucester, Mass.; a daughter, Sarah E. Prochownik of Buffalo, N.Y.; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will take place at a later date at Loud's Island cemeteryin Loud's Island. Angelo John "Andy" Ezzo Jr., a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Sunday, Nov. 17, at home. He was 70. A cause of death has not been determined, his family said. Born Jan. 27, 1932, in Norwalk, he was a son of the late Angelo and Rose Marino Ezzo. He attended Norwalk Public Schools. Mr. Ezzo served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a self-employed painter and owned a building-maintenance company in Norwalk. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Jalbert Ezzo; two sons, John William Ezzo and James Joseph Ezzo, both of Norwalk; a brother Joseph Ezzo of Stamford; a sister, Ruth DiContanzo of Derby; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Emil Ezzo and Vincent Ezzo; and five sisters, Frances Sylvester, Mary Voorhees, Lillian Fernino, Theresa Greco and Rose LaPlante. Carmella "Millie" Masi Fabian, a Norwalk resident, died Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. She was 87. She died after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, according to her family. Born Nov. 14, 1915, in Norwalk, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Carmela Cappiello Masi. Mrs. Fabian was a waitress for many years at Shoreland's Catering in Norwalk. She also worked as a domestic housekeeper. She was a charter member and life member of the St. Ann Women's Auxiliary, a charter member of Knight's of Columbus Columbiettes Council 46 and the St. Thomas Women's Society. She is survived by two sons, Louis Fabion Jr. of Fairfield and Dennis Fabian of Norwalk; three daughters, Barbara McDonough of Wilton, Rosemary Maillard of Norwalk and Carmel Skrabal of Columbia, Mo.; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis "Racy" Fabion; three brothers, Charles Masi, Phillip Masi and Peter Masi; and three sisters, Anna Mastropietro, Rose Mast and Antoinette Uva. Santina Facchin, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Monday, Nov. 17, at Stamford Hospital. She was 94. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born, Dec. 5, 1908, in Tramonti di Sopra, Friuli, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Sante and Maria Rugo Facchin. Mrs. Facchin spent her childhood in Italy. When she was in her 20s, she moved to New York with her husband, Domenico Facchin. She worked as a seamstress for Razook's in Greenwich until she was 85. Mrs. Facchin enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family. She was a parishioner of St. Roch Church in Greenwich. Mrs. Facchin is survived by four daughters, Lidia Lupinacci of Stamford, and Eda Wolack and Valy Laponte, both of Greenwich, and Renata Geofrich of Minneapolis; and 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years; three brothers, Joseph Facchin, John Facchin and Pietro Facchin; and two sisters, Angelina Travelli and Ita Facchin. John Federico, a Norwalk resident for 10 years, died Friday, Aug. 13, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 52. He died of pancreatic cancer, according to his family. Born Aug. 25, 1951, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of the late Salvatore and Lucy Saponaro Federico. Mr. Federico was a dedicated member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Stamford, where he was a member of the Praise and Worship Team. He took part in a missionary trip to Russia in 1994. He was also an avid guitarist. Mr. Federico is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kathleen Bristol Federico of Norwalk; his two adopted daughters from Russia, Alyona Federico and Ludmila Federico, both of Norwalk; two sisters, Hope Wilson of the Bronx and Marie Calisi of Manalapan, N.J.; a brother, Anthony Federico of Vero Beach, Fla.; and 10 nephews and six nieces. Grace Feintuck, a Stamford native who lived in the city nearly all her life, died Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. She was 81. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born March 9, 1921 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Harry Silverman and Bessie Wilensky Silverman. Mrs. Feintuck graduated Stamford High School and was a homemaker and co-founder of Woodway Print, a Stamford printing business. She was a past president of Congregation Agudath Sholom Sisterhood in Stamford, a life member of Hadassah and a volunteer for the Stamford chapter of Literacy Volunteers of America. She is survived by two sons, Arnold Feintuck of Stamford and Lester Feintuck of Bedford Corners, N.Y.; one daughter, Sharon Feller of Stamford; one sister, Reeda Frankfort of DelRay Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Morris Feintuck, who died in 1992. Carmela Ferrara of Edgehill Lifecare Community in Stamford, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Greenwich Hospital. She was 89. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born Aug. 16, 1913, in New Rochelle, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Vita Petruzzi DelGuidice. Mrs. Ferrara graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1932. She worked first as an executive secretary at American Express in New York City and then for Citibank. She was a member of St. Helena's Catholic Church and St. Raymond Church in the Bronx, N.Y., and worked as a volunteer at Bronxville Hospital. A Greenwich resident for 16 years, Mrs. Ferrara was an active member of the Edgehill community in Stamford for the past 3 1/2 years. She is survived by three sons, Philip Cioffari of Fort Lee, N.J., Robert Cioffari of Silver Spring, Md., and Paul Cioffari of Greenwich; a daughter, Betty Ann Mosser of Norwalk; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, C. Joseph Cioffari, who died in 1972; and her second husband, Anthony J. Ferrara, who died in 1993. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Greenwich. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven cemeteryin Valhalla, N.Y. Dorothy E. Weir Ferrara of Bethel, a former Stamford resident and homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at home. She was 75. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born March 13, 1928, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late John Weir Sr. and Mary Murphy Weir. Mrs. Ferrara had resided in Bethel for the past 40 years. She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Schmidt of New Milford and Dianne Wilhelm and Sharon Overthrow, both of Bethel; a brother, John "Jack" Weir Jr. of Shelton; a sister, June Bennet of Stamford; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmen P. Ferrara, on Sept. 7. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at First Congregational Church of Bethel, 46 Main St., Bethel. Mary K. Ferrara, a longtime New Canaan resident and retired seamstress, died Saturday, Feb. 8, at home. She was 92. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born July 20, 1910, in Palagianello, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clementina DiCoslo LaViola. Mrs. Ferrara was a seamstress for the Manhattan Shirt Co., formerly in Norwalk, for many years. After the company closed, she continued her seamstress work privately. She lived in New Canaan for 83 years. She is survived by two nieces, Antoinette Bolling of Greenwich and Tina Gardner of Wilton; and a nephew, Joseph LaViola of Delray Beach, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Charles Ferrara; and two brothers, Dominick LaViola and Michael LaViola. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan. Burial will follow in Lakeview cemeteryin New Canaan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mid-Fairfield Hospice Inc., 180 School Road, Wilton, CT 06897-2527. F. Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, is handling arrangements.

Carmen P. Ferrara of Bethel, the former proprietor of the Epicure Restaurant in Bethel, died Sunday, Sept. 7, at home. He was 77. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born April 17, 1926, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Donato and Mary LaCerenza Ferrara. He was raised in Stamford, where he attended Stamford Public Schools. Mr. Ferrara served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned Epicure Restaurant on Greenwood Avenue in Bethel for 17 years. He later worked in the assembly department for the former NORCO Inc. in Ridgefield. He retired in 2002. Mr. Ferrara is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy E. Weir Ferrara of Bethel; three daughters, Kathleen D. Schmidt of New Milford; Diane L. Wilhelm and Sharon M. Overthrow, both of Bethel; a brother, Angelo Ferrara of Stamford; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Bethel Police Department Benevolent Association, 49 Plumtrees Road, Bethel, CT 06801; or to the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department, South Street, Bethel, CT 06801. Arrangements are being handled by the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greeenwood Ave., Bethel.
