Carl Anderson, 79, father of New Milford man
Carl C. Anderson, 79, of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, and formerly of Great Quarter Road, Sandy Hook, died Feb. 5 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anne (Mooney) Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was born in Milford July 19, 1920, a son of the late Carl and Caroline (Bahner) Anderson.
He was a resident of Newtown the past 40 years. He was employed as a carpenter by Union Local No. 210 of the carpenters' union until his retirement.
Mr. Anderson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 308, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and the Newtown Senior Center.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Anderson, and his wife, Kathleen, of New Milford; five grandchildren, Scott Lee of Newtown, Kevin Anderson Jr., Kristen Anderson, Carl R. Anderson and Derek Anderson; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Dorothy Anderson of Shelton. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Anderson, and a daughter, Carol Lee.
The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown was in charge of arrangements.

Roger Newkirk, 89, was active in scouting
Roger E. Newkirk, 89, of 4 Farview Terrace, Danbury, died Feb. 5 at home. He was the husband of Rowena (Simpson) Newkirk.
Mr. Newkirk was born in Danbury Oct. 14, 1910, a son of the late Simon K. and Ida (Boughton) Newkirk. He attended the former Trade School and Danbury High School.
Mr. Newkirk was employed as a hatter for over 20 years and at the New Milford Tractor Company. Later in Danbury, he operated Roger's Laundromat and then was employed by the Barden Corporation in Danbury, retiring in 1975.
He was active for 38 years in Boy Scouting in Danbury and then later in New Milford. He was a member and Past Noble Grand of Progressive Lodge No. 18, Independent Order of the Odd Fellows, of Danbury.
Mr. Newkirk was past president of the Mill Plain Volunteer Fire Department No. 12. He was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury and was active in the St. Andrews Club.
With his wife, he was formerly active in various square dance groups and had graduated from the "Circle B Square Dances Club" in Bethel.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joan N. Gourley of Bethel; a son, Roger H. Newkirk of Danbury; three grandsons of Bethel; and several nieces and nephews.
The Hull Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury, CT 06810.

Barbara Anderson, 70, former Roxbury resident
Barbara Joan (Whyte) Anderson, 70, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Jan. 23 in Scottsdale. She was the widow of Captain Lee Anderson of Roxbury.
Mrs. Anderson was born April 20, 1929, in Ravena, N.Y., daughter of the late Daniel and Naomi (Brooks) Whyte.
She was a former model for the Ford Modeling Agency and a stewardess for Colonial Airlines and for Eastern Airlines.
She is survived by a son, Matthew Anderson, and his wife Rhea; a daughter Megan Anderson and her fiancee, Tyrone Wong; and three grandchildren, Audrey, Ian and Shane.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Frank M. Orzech, 85, former Scovill employee
Frank M. Orzech, 85, of 1701 Pentridge Cove, Williamsport, Pa., died Feb. 8 at The Williamsport Home. He was the husband of Wanda J. (Loganowicz) Orzech.
Mr. Orzech was born Nov. 24, 1914 in Shenandoah, Pa. He was the son of the late Anthony and Jadwiga (Witkowski) Orzech.
He retired from the former Scovill Manufacturing in New Milford, where he worked as a crane operator. He attended St. Boniface Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a son, Francis Orzech of Lancaster, Pa.; a daughter, Jeanne Reed of Williamsport, Pa.; a brother, Edward Orzech of Roxbury; two sisters, Mary Chudada of New Milford and Clara Jesson of New Preston; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Grustas.
The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford. Burial will be in the spring. Friends may call tonight (Friday) at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Adriana Migiano, 86, mother of Roxbury resident
Adriana (Baccarini) Migiano, 86, of 642 Danbury Road, Ridgefield, and formerly of Danbury, died Feb. 11 at the Laurelwood Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Hugo Migiano.
Mrs. Migiano was born Feb. 18, 1913 in Gonzaga, Italy, daughter of the late Guido and Maria Baccarini.
She attended schools in Italy and then moved to the United States in 1934.
Mrs. Migiano was a member of St. Peter Church in Danbury.
She is survived by three sons, Cesare Migiano of Newtown, Guido Migiano of Roxbury and Mario Migiano of Danbury; a sister, Amabile Lepori of Italy; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at 9 a.m. at St. Peter Church in Danbury. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.

George F. Krummenacker, 82, had lived in Kent
George F. Krummenacker, 82, of 208 Kent-Cornwall Road, Kent, died Feb. 14 at his home. He was the husband of Gertrude (Filasky) Krummenacker.
Mr. Krummenacker was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Elmont, N.Y., son of the late Frank and Margaret Krummenacker.
He owned and operated George Krummenacker Greenhouse in Bayport, Long Island, N.Y., for many years before moving to Kent in 1968. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Kent.
Besides his wife, Mr. Krummenacker is survived by a niece, Eleanor Cavalard of Mount Sinai, N.Y. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank, and two sisters, Margaret and Eleanor.
A Mass will take place today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 90 Cobble Road, Kent. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery in the spring.

Roger J. Arguello, 65, had family in New Milford
Roger J. Arguello, 65, husband of Laura (Snow) Arguello of 2 Pamela Lane, Danbury, died Feb. 15 at Danbury Hospital.
He was born in New York City, Oct. 23, 1934, son of Elizabeth (Minnielli) Arguello of Danbury and the late Roger V.F. Arguello.
Mr. Arguello grew up in New York and was a 1952 graduate of Styveson High School. He graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnical University in 1956 and received his master's degree from Brooklyn Poly in 1959.
Mr. Arguello started working for the Perkin-Elmer Corp. in 1964 and retired from Hughes Optical Co. in 1995 as a senior optical scientist. He was a member of many professional organizations and had been a guest lecturer at many seminars and universities.
In addition to his mother and his wife, Mr. Arguello is survived by two daughters, Marie Fiddner and her husband, Robert, and Elizabeth Corson and her husband, Michael J., both of New Milford; two sons, Roger V. Arguello of Danbury and Christopher S. Arguello and his wife, Karla, of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandsons, Donald, Christopher and Peter Fiddner and Michael J. Corson Jr.; and three granddaughters, Alison Fiddner and Ashley and Ryann Arguello.
The Green Funeral Home in Danbury was in charge of the arrangements.

Evelyn Taylor York, 92, lived in New Milford
Evelyn Taylor York, 92, of New Milford, died Feb. 15 at the New Milford Nursing Home.
Mrs. York was born Nov. 8, 1907, in Lang Plantation, Maine, the daughter of the late Leo E. and Inez Brown Taylor.
She was a graduate of Rangeley High School and Bryant and Stratton Secretarial School in Boston, Mass.
Mrs. York worked in the family resort in Rangeley, Maine, for 31 years and in other resorts in Florida and North Carolina until she retired and moved to New Milford at the age of 70.
Mrs. York is survived by two sons, James L. York II of New Milford and David G. York of Marathon, Fla.; two sisters, Arlene Secord of Portland, Maine, and Jeanne Woods of Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. York was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held in the Congregational Church in Rangeley in July.

Richard Shanahan, 78, father of New Milford man
Richard F. Shanahan, 78, of 26 Appleblossom Lane in Newtown, died Feb. 10 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Sheila (Courtney) Shanahan.
Mr. Shanahan was born Feb. 8, 1922 in County Tipperary, Ireland, son of the late Michael and Minifred (Houlihan) Shanahan.
He attended schools and graduated from engineering college in Ireland. During World War II, he served in the Irish Army.
He came to the United States and Newtown in 1960, and was employed by IBM in Fishkill, N.Y., as an electrical engineer until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Shanahan was past vice-president of the Danbury Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.
An avid reader and author, he had just published a book entitled "Across the Bridge."
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael Shanahan of Woodbury, Sean Shanahan of Litchfield and Terrence Shanahan of New Milford, an officer in the Danbury Police Department; three daughters, Maureen Tremarzo of Pawling, N.Y., Sheila Mapes of Poughquag, N.Y., and Patricia Fonseca of Naugatuck; two brothers, Patrick Shanahan of East Meadow, N.Y., and John Shanahan of New York City; three sisters living in Ireland; and eleven grandchildren.

Simon D. McInerney, 57, father of local woman
Simon D. McInerney, 57, of Old Town Park Road in New Milford, died Feb. 8 at New Milford Hospital after being stricken ill at his home.
Mr. McInerney was born July 16, 1942 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Thomas M. and Kathleen A. (Mannix) McInerney.
He was a graduate of St. Francis Prep School in Bidderford, Maine, and had attended Boston College. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif.
Mr. McInerney had worked in the soft drink industry for more than 25 years and had recently retired from the Cadbury-Schweppes Beverage Company as vice president of sales. He had moved to Danbury in 1970 and had been an area resident ever since.
Mr. McInerney is survived by a daughter, Sarah Deirdre McInerney of New Milford; a brother, Thomas P. McInerney of Ridgefield; a sister, Mary M. Skelton of Port Washington, N.Y.; his companion, Brook Love of New Milford; a niece, Monica M. Honeyford; and five nephews, Noel Skelton, Thomas, Teddy, Todd and Timothy McInerney.
The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
