Eleanor Cable
Eleanor May Goslee Cable, 73, mother of New Milford residents Gary Cable, Tina Boyce and Cindy G. Cable, died Saturday at Ferrum Memorial Hospital, Ferrum, Va.

Mrs. Cable, of 2170 Cooks Knob Road, Ferrum, was the wife of the late Alton B. Cable Sr. She had been a resident of New Preston until moving to Virginia.

She was born in Wallingford, Conn., on June 10, 1924, a daughter of Roy and Milicent Asman Goslee.

Mrs. Cable enjoyed fishing.

Besides her children in New Milford, Mrs. Cable is survived by another three sons, George Cable of Maryland, Doug S. Cable of Andes, N.Y., and Gerry A. Cable of Dora, Ala.; another two daughters, Eleanor Jane Hammer of Jasper, Ala., and Sharon R. Vazeau of Monteal, Calif.; four brothers, Alfred Goslee of Cincinalus, N.Y., Ronald Goslee of New Milford, Roy Goslee of Florida, and Norman Farnsworth of Chicago, Ill.; and five sisters, Barbara Jean Larson of Texas, Gertrude Dingwell of Harwinton, Conn., Doris Turney of Nebraska, Marg Goslee of Southbury, and Caroline Servidas of Waterbury.

CALLING HOURS: Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford.

SERVICES: Thursday at 2 p.m., graveside services in New Preston Cemetery.

Richard A. Emmons
Richard A. Emmons, 64, a retired contracts manager, died Sunday at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center.

Mr. Emmons, of 10 Twopence Road, Ridgefield, was the husband of Naomi R. Hogg Emmons.

He was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on Dec. 20, 1932, a son of Donald J. and Mary Began Emmons. He was a graduate of North High School in Binghamton and Harper College where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict.

Before his retirement in 1991, Mr. Emmons had been employed for 37 years with International Business Machines in Southbury and Danbury.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Ridgefield.

Besides his wife, Mr. Emmons is survived by a son, Jeffrey J. Emmons of Wilton; three daughters, Judith A. Gill of Easton, Pa., Jane A. MacLaren of Littleton, Colo., and Jill R. DeLouis of Waterbury; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in Mr. Emmons' memory may be made to the Nurses Fund of the Oncology Department, Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury 06810.

CALLING HOURS: Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.

SERVICES: Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Cremation will follow.

Lois M. Zittel
Lois M. Zittel, 80, a former resident of Danbury, died July 16 at the Manor Care Nursing Home, Sunnyvale, Calif.

A resident of Danbury from 1960 to 1992, she lived at 6 Marbil Road for 30 years. After suffering a stroke in 1990, she resided at the Glen Hill Nursing Home until 1992 when she moved to California to be closer to her relatives.

Mrs. Zittel was the wife of the late Frederick Zittel. She was born in New York City, Oct. 5, 1916, a daughter of Louis Felix and Theresa Marie Morosco Gillotti.

She was a housewife and enjoyed swimming.

Her survivors include a sister, Rosemary Muller of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and a nephew, Mars Muller of Danville, Calif.

Services took place in California. Burial was in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Margaret Henry Jones
Margaret Henry Jones, 82, a former resident of Washington Depot, died July 27 in Concord, N.H.

Mrs. Jones was the wife of the late Griffith Jones.

She was born in New York City and was a graduate of Bronxville High School in Bronxville, N.Y., she was also a graduate of Smith College.

Mrs. Jones was a world traveler and had lived for five years in Lagos, Nigeria, where her husband was an employee of the U.S. State Department. Following his retirement, they lived for several years in Washington Depot.

Her survivors include two daughters, Penelope Jones Hartman of Frederick, Md., and Jennifer Jones of Cambridge, Mass.; a son, Dr. Russell C. Jones of North Wilmot, N.H.; a brother, Donald W. Henry of Middlebury, Conn.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be conducted in Washington Depot in the fall.

Walter Englehardt Sr.
Walter A. Englehardt Sr., 78, an Air Force veteran of World War II, died Sunday at the Lutheran Home of Southbury.

Mr. Englehardt, of 1008 Bucks Hill Road, Southbury, was the husband of Emma B. Matson Englehardt.

A lifelong resident of Southbury, he was born June 15, 1919, a son of Louis and Eva Hozaben Englehardt.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, William Englehardt and Thomas Englehardt, both of Southbury, Louis Englehardt of Granville, Vt., and Walter Englehardt Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Southbury Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 1002, Southbury 06488.

Services and burial will be private.

The Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Rudolph Sr.
Charles G. Rudolph Sr., 70, one of Newtown's first police officers and a 21-year owner-operator school bus driver in Newtown, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Rudolph, of 24 South Main St., Newtown, was the husband of Joan Kocian Rudolph.

He was born in Paterson, N.J., in 1926, a son of Chris and Elizabeth Yates Rudolph.

A resident of Newtown for 44 years, he served as a police officer for 12 years before becoming a school bus owner.

Mr. Rudolph was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy as a cook on the USS General M.B. Stewart in the Pacific Theater of War.

He was a member of the Charles Howard Peck Sr. and Jr. _ Blantin Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Newtown.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles G. Rudolph Jr. of Southbury, and Chris Rudolph of New Milford; a daughter, Elizabeth Koschel of Sandy Hook; two stepdaughters, Wendy DiLorenzo of Sandy Hook and Sandra Byerly of Bethel; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a step-grandson.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Newtown Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 344, Newtown, CT 06470.

CALLING HOURS: Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown.

Commital services will be conducted at Newtown Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Emily Gonsalves
Emily Gonsalves, 73, of 19 Fox Hollow Road, New Fairfield, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital.

She was the wife of Delfin J. Gonsalves.

Born in Portugal, July 4, 1924, she was a daughter of Joaquim and Alveida Tenreiro Bento.

Mrs. Gonsalves was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church of New Fairfield and its Ladies Guild, and a volunteer for R.E.S.C.U.E. of New Fairfield and for the American Cancer Society.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Daniel Gonsalves of Baton Rouge, La., and Robert Gonsalves of Carver, Mass.; a daughter, Carol Fitzpatrick of Windham, N.H.; a brother, Joaquim Tenreiro of Danbury; a sister, Herminia Borges of Bethel; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury, CT 06810, or to Hospice, 30 West St., Danbury, CT 06810.

CALLING HOURS: Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the New Fairfield Funeral Home, Route 37 at Cottontail Road, New Fairfield.

SERVICES: Saturday at 9 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church, Route 39, New Fairfield. Burial will follow in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.

Caroline J. Faris
Caroline Jelliff Faris, 64, mother of Carolyn Lyon of Brookfield, died Thursday at Stamford Hospital.

Mrs. Faris, of New Canaan, Conn., was born in New Canaan, May 14, 1933, a daughter of Thomas M. and Aaron Jelliff Faris.

Besides her daughter Carolyn, she is survived by three sons, Robert W. Faris of Arlington, Va., Thomas A. Faris of Midlothian, Va., and David A. Faris of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, William Jelliff of Norwalk; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be conducted privately.

Arrangements are by the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

Katherine Heiden
Katherine Heiden, 86, a longtime resident of New Fairfield, died Thursday at Glen Hill Convalescent Home.

Mrs. Heiden, of 60 Possum Drive, New Fairfield, was the wife of the late Herman B. Heiden.

Born in Czechoslovakia, April 1, 1911, she was a daughter of Paul and Mary Kiripolsky.

Mrs. Heiden emigrated to the United States in 1929 and had lived in New York City before moving to New Fairfield in 1966.

She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church and of the American Association of Retired Persons in New Fairfield. She also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are a grandniece, Juliana Zaleta of Newtown; two great- grandnieces; and other relatives in Czechoslovakia.

Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Edward the Confessor Building Fund, P.O. Box 8866, New Fairfield, CT 06812.

CALLING HOURS: Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the New Fairfield Funeral Home, Route 37 at Cottontail Road, New Fairfield.

SERVICES: Saturday at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in New Fairfield. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.

Mildred L. Martin
Mildred ``Ellie'' Lincoln Martin, 68, of 81 Coal Pit Hill Road, Danbury, died Thursday at Glen Hill Health Care Center in Danbury.

She was the wife of Gerald E. Martin Jr.

Mrs. Martin was born in Danbury, Jan. 4, 1929, a daughter of Clarence and Mildred Nicholson Lincoln.

A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Martin had been employed in retail sales in the Danbury area, including Seaman & Lunch, Greene Electric and Hat City Paper.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, Lester C. Lincoln of Florida, and three nephews.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association, 4 Liberty St., Danbury, CT 06810.

CALLING HOURS: Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.

SERVICES: Monday at 2 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home in Danbury. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
