Mary Louise Ruttkamp

Mary Louise O'Connor Ruttkamp, Greenwich native, died on March 12, 2010 at Greenwich Hospital.

She was born on Aug. 26, 1923 to William H. and Katherine O'Connor, and lived in town her whole life.

Her life revolved around her four children and her work for 25 years at the historic Clam Box restaurant where she was known as "Mary R" until it closed.

She is survived by her four children: Thomas and his wife Marsha Ruttkamp of Bellevue, Wash., Judith Ruttkamp of Greenwich, Richard and his wife Audrey of Cos Cob, and Debra Donovan and her husband Timothy of Enfield; four grandchildren: Lauren, Amy, Travis and Elizabeth; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Flannery of Norwalk, and her niece, Sarah. Family and friends were received on March 16 in the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home. Burial was private.

Pauline D. Pernal

Pauline D. Pernal, 87, of Southington, died on Sept. 29, 2004, at home. She was the wife of Walter J. Pernal.

She was born in New Britain on Nov. 22, 1916, the daughter of the late John and Pelagia (Wojtusik) Dumin. She had been a Southington resident for the past 47 years. She retired from the Stanley Works in 1978. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Immaculate Women's Club.

Besides her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her two sons and their wives, John and Ann Waluk of Maine, and Frank and Darlyn Waluk of Milldale; her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and John Pitch of Bristol; 13 grandchildren;19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held on Oct. 2 from Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, Plantsville to Immaculate Conception Church. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Dennis J. Reardon

Dennis J. Reardon, 71, of Plantsville, died on Oct. 1, 2004, at St. Mary Hospital, Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Doris (Andelin) Reardon.

He was born in Waterbury on May 18, 1933, the son of the late John and Margaret (Lynch) Reardon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and had worked as a manager for various retail stores.

He is survived by his sons Richard and Dennis Reardon, both of Southington; his daughters, Debra Reardon of Plantsville and Colleen Delfino of Southington; his two granddaughters, Kimberly and Sarah Delfino; his two sisters Shirley Crean and Lun Berrister; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Oct. 5 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, Forestville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Lucille V. Regnaire

Lucille V. Regnaire, 82, of Flanders Road, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004. She was the wife of the late Lioniel Regnaire.

Born on Feb. 21, 1922 in West Warwick, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Ulric and Rose Brassard. Prior to her retirement in 1985, she was employed by Lori Engineering. Mrs. Regnaire was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church and a member of the Calendar House.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Homer Pinette of Bristol and Margaret and Thomas Deprey of Southington; a granddaughter, Monique Rossow and her husband, Michael; a great-granddaughter, Shelbi Burns; a brother, Leonard Brassard and his wife, Vera; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Matherson; and a brother, Louis Brassard.

The funeral was held on Oct. 2 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home. Burial followed at St. Thomas Cemetery.

James M. Spooner

James Matthew Spooner, 51, of East Haddam, died on Sept. 28, 2004, at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Janis (Carter) Spooner.

He was born in New Britain on Jan. 26, 1953, the son of the late James William and Patricia (Igoe) Spooner. He was a communicant member of St. Bridget of Kildare Church in Moodus. He worked in many aspects of the insurance industry for AETNA in Hartford for over 24 years. He participated in Boy Scouting and coached Little League baseball.

Besides his wife of 20 years, he is survived by two sons, James Richard and Joseph Matthew, both at home; two brothers, Ross Spooner of Berlin and Thomas Spooner of Southington; a sister, Margaret Harrison of Florida; and his step-mother, Kate Spooner of North Carolina.

The funeral was held on Oct. 2 at St. Bridget of Kildare Church, Moodus. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Centralized Memorial Processing, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701-9376. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, Colchester, was in charge of arrangements.

Janet St. Arnauld

Janet (Martin) St. Arnauld, 64, of 963 Meriden Ave. died Wednesday Sept. 29, 2004 at Hartford Hospital. She was the beloved wife for 42 years of Ernest St. Arnauld.

She was born in Southington on Jan. 19, 1940, the daughter of Stella (Grabelski) Martin and the late Frank J. Martin Sr. She was a communicant of Mary Our Queen Church. Prior to her retirement she was employed by CT Telephone and Electric she had also been a reporter for the New Britain Herald.

In addition to her husband and mother of Southington she is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Peter Rasten of Southington; her two grandsons, Alex Ernest and Jesse Peter Rasten; her aunts and uncle, Mary and Edward Rich, Helen Kulesa and Frances Dumin; a brother-in-law, Wilbert St. Arnauld; and sister-in-law, Jeanne and her husband Louis Sciarra; two nieces, Heidi Martin DeAlessio and Heather Martin Steenburgh.

She was also supported though her illness by her cousin Patricia Dumin and her best friend Flossie MacDowell. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank J. Martin Jr. and her infant son, James St. Arnauld

The funeral was held on Oct. 2 from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home to Mary Our Queen Church. Burial followed in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Marcel St. Pierre

Marcel St. Pierre, 57, of New Britain, died Oct. 3, 2004, at Walnut Hill Care Center.

He was born in Clair, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Marie (Beaulieu) Michaud and his stepfather Noel Michaud.

He lived in New Britain most of his life. He worked at Atlantic Pipe in Plainville for 15 years, and he later worked at Kensington Welding for five years, retiring in 1990.

He his survived by two sons, Michael St. Pierre and Christopher St. Pierre, both of Ohio; four brothers, Carmel St. Pierre of Plainville, Zoel Michaud of Middletown, Daniel Michaud of Southington and Hermel Michaud of Eagle Lake, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held on Oct. 6 from Carlson Funeral Home to St. John the Evangelist Church.

John A. Swift, Sr.

John A. Swift, Sr., 98, of Southington, died Oct. 3, 2004, at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of the late Marie (Levesque) Swift.

He was born in Woburn, Mass. on March 15, 1906, the son of the late Sherman and Mary (Wainer) Swift.

He was a graduate of MIT and received his masters in the field of Chemical Engineering. He had resided in Southington since 1968, living with his grandson Steven and his wife Sofia and his beloved great grandchildren, Andrew and Emilee.

He is survived by three sons; Donald and his wife Margaret of Burlington, Thomas and his wife Patricia of Annapolis, Md. and John Jr. of West Lake, Ohio; five grandchildren, Laureen, Charles and his wife Mary, Steven and his wife Sofia, Stacey and Colby; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Swift of Mass.; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Levesque, Natalie Fiske, Marjorie Swift and Jean Swift; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, George, Sherman and William.

A service was held on Oct. 5 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
