W. Edwin Love, 63

CONCORD, Md. - W. Edwin Love of Concord, near Denton, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. He was 63.

Mr. Love was born at home in Concord the son of the late Frederick Earl Love and Florence Elizabeth Seeders Love.

He was a farmer all his life.

Mr. Love was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church, president of the Concord Cemetery Association and a member of the Caroline County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Love of Concord; two sons, Robert Earl Love of Federalsburg and Ronald Edwin Love of Denton; and five grandchildren, Robert Edwin Love, William A. Love, James E. Love, Matthew E. Love and Holly R. Love.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, near Denton.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Concord United Methodist Church, PO Box 156, Federalsburg, MD 21632.

Margaret Gallagher Peix, 92

GREENSBORO, Md. - Margaret Gallagher Peix of Greensboro died of natural causes Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in her home. She was 92.

Mrs. Peix was born on Sept. 23, 1906, in New Haven, Conn., the daughter of the late Thomas and Carrie Bell Gallagher.

She attended finishing school in Pennsylvania and in Boston.

She taught home economics in both the Connecticut and New York school systems.

She was a resident of Fort Meyers, Fla., for 20 years, before recently moving to Greensboro to live with her son.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Peix, in 1977.

She is survived by a son, Richard Thomas Peix of Greensboro; a daughter-in-law, Rose Marie Peix of Greensboro; and two grandsons, Richard Peix Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., and Adam Buck Peix of Greensboro.

Service will be private.

Mary Jane Schultz, 67

DENTON, Md. - Mary Jane Schultz of Denton died of heart failure Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, in her home. She was 67.

Mrs. Schultz was born in Concord, the daughter of the late Robert Earl Kenney and Mary Edith Hignutt Kenney. She was a lifelong resident of the Denton area.

She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Schultz Sr., Oct. 31, 1996.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Lee Schultz Jr. of St. Michaels, Francis Earl Schultz of Ridgely and Roger Larry Schultz of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Susan Marie Thomason and Deborah Cahall, both of Denton; a brother, Russell Kenney of Hebron; three sisters, Barbara Ann Howell of Miami, Clara Marine of Hurlock and Faye Burton of Calvert City, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Denton Cemetery, Denton.

Elva Ellen (Jones) Smith, 78

CHESTER, Md. - Elva Ellen (Jones) Smith of Chester died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, in Corsica Hills-Genesis Eldercare, Centreville. She was 78.

Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Dominion (Chester), the daughter of the late Dewey Franklin and Eleanor Thomas Jones.

She married Henry Robert Smith, then of Grasonville, Sept. 12, 1936, and spent her adult life as a homemaker.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Grasonville Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, March 17, 1971; a brother, Benjamin Franklin Jones, Nov. 12, 1993; and a granddaughter, Tina Marie Melvin, June 2, 1998.

She is survived by two sons, H. Wayne Smith and Harold F. Smith, both of Chester; a daughter, Linda Eleanor Sparks of Centreville; two brothers, William Weldon Jones and Dewey Ellis Jones, both of Chester; a sister, Jeanette Isabella Compton of Federalsburg; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home P.A., Chester, where friends and family may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in Stevensville Cemetery, Stevensville.

Ruth Elizabeth Bounds Pierce Smith, 91

SEAFORD - Ruth Elizabeth Bounds Pierce Smith of Seaford died of heart failure Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in Methodist Manor House, Seaford. She was 91.

Mrs. Smith was born in Laurel, the daughter of the late William Oliver and Alverta Clagett Bounds.

She was secretary for Robinson Real Estate in Seaford, retiring in 1983.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Taylor Pierce, in 1980; and her second husband, Thomas Mather Smith, in 1983.

She is survived by a son, Howard T. Pierce III of East Lansing, Mich.; a daughter, Linda Pierce Frazier of Damascus, Md.; a brother, Paul Bounds of Laurel; a sister, Bertha White of College Park, Md.; and two grandsons, Andrew Frazier and Kevin Frazier.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, with the Rev. Earle N. Baker officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cmetery, Seaford.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Nursing Department, Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, DE 19973.

Paul B. Wells, 68

GEORGETOWN - Paul B. Wells of rural Georgetown died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, in his home. He was 68.

Mr. Wells was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He worked for the maintenance department of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, for 24 years, retiring in 1992.

Mr. Wells was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Broadkill Post 684; Moose Lodge 534, Harrington; and American Legion Post 6, Seaford.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Reba Lake Wells; three daughters, Diane Emerson of Laurel, Sandra L. Rockemann of Georgetown and Brenda A. Enders of York, Pa.; two brothers, Martin Wells of Lewes and Richard Wells of Milton; five grandchildren, Tonya R. Rockemann of Rehoboth Beach, Michelle L. Rogers of Georgetown, Cory J. Enmders of York, and Jimmy Holston and Jeffrey Holston, both of Laurel; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter S. Rogers of Georgetown and Alyssa Holston, Morgan Holston and Jeffrey Holston, all of Laurel.

Service will be noon Saturday in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be in McColley's Cemetery, Redden.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to either McColley's Chapel Church or to VFW Broadkill Post 6984 Building Fund.

Viola Redora Wilson-Patton, 86

CATONSVILLE, Md. - Viola Redora Wilson-Patton of Catonsville died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in Mariners Nursing Facility, Catonsville. She was 86.

Mrs. Patton was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Fountain (Big Woods), the daughter of the late Joseph Slater and Nellie Viola Wilson.

She was educated in the Kent County school system.

She held various domestic jobs throughout the years.

She married William Beauford Patton in 1953 and resided in Baltimore.

Mrs. Patton and her husband returned to the Chestertown area, where they both became members of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She was a faithful member of the senior choir.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Elizabeth Wilson Hundley.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Ella Wilson-Graves of Baltimore; and two bothers-in-law, William Graves and Columbus Hundley, both of Baltimore.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Chestertown, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Big Woods. The Rev. Fredrick Jones will officiate.

Phyllis Loretta White, 56

HARRINGTON - Phyllis Loretta White of Harrington died after a long illness Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in Accord Health Services, Wilmington. She was 56.

Miss White was born June 24, 1942, in Harrington, the daughter of the late Homer and Elizabeth White.

She was educated in Delaware and attended Pierre S. duPont and William Henry high schools.

Miss White was employed by Scott Paper Co. for four years.

She loved attending church and praising the Lord, drawing, playing bingo and just being around her family, especially her loving daughter, Sheila White.

Miss White was a fun-loving, kind and caring person who would do almost anything for people. Many people in the community were touched by her joy, lighthearted humor and sincerity. She brought happiness and joy into the lives of those she touched.

She was a faithful, lifetime member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Harrington. Her favorite scriptures were Psalm 23 and John 3:16.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila White of Newark; four brothers, Phillip White of Baltimore, Frank White of Houston, James White of Harrington and Nathan Bryant of Ellendale; three sisters, Teresa Bowers of Dover and Frances Daniels and Beatrice Harris, both of Harrington; two stepbrothers, Wayne Bryant of California and Don Bryant of Chicago; three sisters-in-law, Terri White, Dellian White and Leola Bryant; two brothers-in-law, Phillip Harris and Florzell Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Service will be today at noon at St. Paul AME Church, 103 W. Mispillion St., Harrington, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Marjorie H. Bakke, 73

LEWES - Marjorie H. Bakke of Lewes died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, in her home. She was 73.

Mrs. Bakke was born June 15, 1925, in Ridley Park, Pa., the daughter of the late Samuel C. Howarth and Millie L. Shorb.

She had moved from Ridley Park to the Lewes area in 1967.

Mrs. Bakke was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 17.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl F. Bakke Sr., in 1987; a son, Earl F. Bakke Jr., in 1998; and a grandson, Matthew J. DiNatale, in 1994.

She is survived by three sons, Linde D. Bakke of Berlin, Md., Jeffery I. Bakke of Townsend and J. Troy Bakke of Lewes; five daughters, Terri R. Glesmann of Delray Beach, Fla., and Wendy J. Martin, Midge A. DiNatale, Kristen J. Pennypacker and Samuela J. Wray, all of Lewes; two brothers, Samuel C. Howarth of Killen, Texas, and Clifford M. Howarth of Seaford; two sisters, Beverly J. McCarty and Sharon L. Walsh, both of Lewes; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lewes, with the Rev. Douglas Culton officiating.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Atkins-Lodge Chapel of Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown, Lewes.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 2nd Street, Lewes, DE 19958.

Nancy A. Booz

VIOLA - Nancy A. Booz of Viola died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999.

She had worked in banking in New Jersey for more than 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence M. Booz of Viola; and two sons, Wayne K. Booz of Odessa and Neil D. Booz of Ocala, Fla.

Graveside service for the family only will be at a later date.

Burial will be in the Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, N.J.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Lupus Foundation of Delaware, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 1015, Wilmington, DE 19801.
