I. Richard 'Dick' Baker, 73

MILTON - Richard 'Dick' Baker of Milton died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in the Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 73.

Mr. Barker was born in Pittsville, Md., son of the late Linwood R. and Mildred Harris Baker.

He was an electronic technician for Draper Canning Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He worked for Reed Trucking in Milton, for the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Neva Crouch Baker of Milton; two daughters, Donna M. Schirmer of Milton, and Karen H. Wyatt of Smyrna.; one son, Rick Baker of Dover; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of Short Funeral Service, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Debora Hospital, 212 Trenton Road, Brown Mills, N.J. 08015.

Marguerite D. Argo, 77

DOVER - Marguerite D. Argo of Dover died Friday, March 20, 1998, in the Capitol Health Care Nursing Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Argo was born and raised in Dover, the daughter of the late Samuel and Goldie Truitt Dixon.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Argo enjoyed spending time with her family, and also enjoyed sewing and cake decorating.

She was a member of Capitol Baptist Church, Dover.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lambert E. Argo in 1993, and a daughter, Nancy Lea Argo in 1955.

She is survived by a son, Wayne Argo of Seaford; a daughter, Karen S. Davis of Felton; three brothers, Samuel Dixon Jr. of Kenton, Millard Dixon of Dover, and Richard Dixon of Centreville, Md.; two sisters, Edna Vaughn of Casselberry, Fla., and Ruth Ann Kemp of Milford, and eight grandchildren.

Service will be at 2 p.m. today at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Ave., Dover, DE 19904, or to the Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Betty Jane Alexander, 61

CAMDEN - Betty Jane Alexander of Camden, formerly of Clayton, died of cancer, Saturday, March 21, 1998, in the Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 61.

Mrs. Alexander was born in 1937, in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Gilbert E. and May Lowman Hayes.

She lived with Marion Tracy and Dorothy Foster of Camden for the last several years.

Mrs. Alexander was a caregiver in the Smyrna-Clayton area for several years.

She enjoyed crafts and bingo.

She is survived by a special daughter and son-in-law, Linda S. and Allen Dutton of Clayton, and two grandchildren, Shane and Karen Dutton, both of Clayton; a special son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Paula Ewell of Smyrna, and six grandchildren; one sister, Anna Turner of San Diego; one special niece, her husband and four daughters, Kelly Sue and Jim Parker of Arkansas; a special aunt and uncle, Thomas and Barbara Lowman of Smyrna.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at Mrs. Alexander's home, from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at 102 S. Main St., Camden.

Arrangements by Faries Funeral Directors Inc., 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.

Warren Jackson, 86

MILLSBORO - Warren Jackson of Millsboro died of pneumonia Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 86.

Mr. Jackson was born near Millsboro, the son of the late Isaac Albert and Minerva Johnson Jackson.

He was a self-employed farmer and trucker, retiring in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Whyte Jackson, in 1974.

He is survived by one son, Warren G. Jackson and two daughters, Jacqueline Stoner and Marilyn J. Jackson, all of Millsboro; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

The Rev. Carl Jackson will officiate.

Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery, Millsboro.

Thomas A. Everage, 68

BRIDGEVILLE - Thomas A. Everage of Bridgeville died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in the Perry Point Veterans Hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Everage was born in 1930, in Hindman, Ky., the son of the late Samp and Martha Armes Everage.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving for 23 years.

Mr. Everage was a life member of the VFW of Castle Rock, Colo. 10578; a charter member of the Eagles of Castle Rock, and a member of the Elks of Littleton, Colo.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Hale Everage of Bridgeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Kleta K. Everage of Tacoma, Wash.; five sisters, Edith Cornett of Taylor, Mich., Irene Elliott of Federalsburg, Glenda Fay LeGates of Millsboro, Mary Conaway of Smyrna and Carol Sue Jackson of Seaford; three brothers, Roy Everage of Federalsburg, Ronnie Everage of Middlesboro, Ky., and Samuel Everage of Smyrna.

Burial will be in the National Veterans Cemetery in Tacoma.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to the Cancer Society of Caroline County, P.O. Box 505, Denton, MD 21649.

Mary Ellen McMahan, 87

HARTLY - Mary Ellen McMahan of Hartly died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in the Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 87.

Mrs. McMahan was born in 1911 in Hebron, Md., the fifth child of 11, to the late Gertrude Trader and Willie F. Bailey.

She was a member of Wyoming United Methodist Church.

Mrs. McMahan was dedicated her life to her husband, children, and family farm as a homemaker. She especially enjoyed her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. McMahan in 1995.

She is survived by a son, William 'Bill' McMahan of Hartly; three daughters, Nancy Minor of Hartly, Becky Minor of Dover, and June Thompson of Hartly; five sisters, Ada Harding of Hurlock, Md., Dorothy Thawley of Federalsburg, Jessie Wheatley of Pittman, N.J., Evelyn Coulbourn of Seaford and Ruth Dickerson of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren, Brenda Minor of Wyoming, Karen Minor of Salt Lake City, Faith Rentz of Milford, John McMahan of Lincoln, Tom Belise of Dover, Christine Belise of Hartly, Wayne Minor of Wyoming, Jeff Minor of Milford, Cindy Fox of Hartly, Judy Cook of Hartly and 14 great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wyoming United Methodist Church, 112 Broad St., Wyoming.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Wyoming United Methodist Church, 112 Broad St., Wyoming, DE 19934.

Leah J. Klinedinst, 83

REHOBOTH BEACH - Leah J. Klinedinst of Rehoboth Beach died of heart failure Thursday, March 19, 1998, in her residence. She was 83.

Mrs. Klinedinst was born in 1914, in Dauphin County, Pa.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Klinedinst was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church, and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Klinedinst in 1987.

She is survived by a sister, Ellen DeFrank of New Jersey, and an executor, Barbara A. Haburshock of Newark.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where Father Philip Sheekey will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

James H. White Jr., 76

REHOBOTH BEACH - James H. White Jr. of Rehoboth Beach died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 76.

Mr. White was born in 1921, in Delmar, son of the late James H. White Sr. and Mary P. White.

He was owner and operator for 35 years of the Shore Electrical Construction Co. He handled large electrical contracts, most notably the Hercules Tower in Wilmington. He retired in 1997.

Mr. White was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Lions Club; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; held several two year term appointments by the Governor on the Board of Electrical Examiners.

He is survived by executrix, Margaret Bartley of Rehoboth Beach, and Nellie E. Hattenfield of Lewes, who raised him from the age of 16.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Stephens Cemetery, Delmar, where the Rev. Charles Poukish will officiate.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery, Delmar.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Emphysema Foundation.

Mary W. Minner, 89

REHOBOTH BEACH - Mary W. Minner of Rehoboth Beach died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in the Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Minner was born in 1908, in Georgetown, the daughter of the late William W. Wyatt and Lizzie Wyatt.

She owned and operated Minner's Beauty Shop from the 1950s until she retired in 1984.

Mrs. Minner was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church; a member of Cape Henlopen Senior Center, and the Delaware Beautician Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Reynolds Minner in 1994.

She is survived by a sister, Cora W. Dean of Hampton Beach, Va.; a nephew, William R. Walls of Virginia Beach, Va., and two nieces, Barbara A. Harper, who looked out for her, of Frankford, and Shirley L. Edginton of Naples, Fla.; two step-grandchildren.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

The Rev. David Baker will officiate.

Burial will be in Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Dorothy Marie Dodd Hastings, 86

REHOBOTH BEACH - Dorothy Marie Dodd Hastings of Rehoboth Beach died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Hastings was born in 1912, in Lewes, the daughter of the late Harry C. Dodd and Arzie Jane Dodd.

She graduated from Womens College of University of Delaware in 1932; earned a bachelor's of science degree in education from Duke University in 1963.

Mrs. Hastings began her teaching career in Selbyville and taught full-time for 39 years and substituted for 10 years. She taught at the Lewes Special School District as an elementary teacher.

She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, and a member of Debora Circle at church.

She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Hastings in 1972.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Eisenman of Rehoboth Beach; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Hastings of Lewes; a son, James H. Hastings of Lewes; a son-in-law, Richard Eisenman of Rehoboth Beach; a sister, Delma Thompson of Dundalk, Md.; two grandchildren, J. Teague Hastings, and Matthew Alexander Hastings, both of Lewes; an aunt, Idella Pettyjohn of Lewes, and a very dear friend, Margaret Moore of Rehoboth Beach.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
