Rena Elnora Ringgold, 73

REISTERSTOWN, Md - Rena Elnora Ringgold pf Reisterstown, formerly of Chester, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, in Cherrywood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 73.

Mrs. Ringgold was born on May 29, 1925, in Chester, the daughter of the late John A. and Lillian Twigg Ringgold.

She graduated from Stevensville High School in 1942.

Mrs. Ringgold married Thomas Ringgold on Sept. 14, 1945. They ran a general store in Chester.

After raising her family, she returned to work at various sales positions, most recently as a telemarketer for L.L. Rose Co.

Mr. Ringgold was a past member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 10, 1989.

She is survived by three sons, Joey Ringgold of Virginia Beach, Va., Larry Ringgold of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and Butch Ringgold of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; a daughter, Cindy Ringgold-Goble of Westminster; two brothers, George Walters and Newman Walters, both of Chester; a sister, Alice Walters Ringgold of Stevensville, and three grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday in Stevensville Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Westminster High School, 1225 Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157 or Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 27, Stevensville, MD 21666.

William David Duvall, 85

CENTREVILLE, Md. - William David Duvall of Centreville died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, in Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 85.

Mr. Duvall was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Charles R. and Carrie Opie Duvall.

He graduated from Eastern High School in 1931 and attended the University of Maryland.

Mr. Duvall served with the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in the Philippines.

He started his career with the federal government as a Coastal Geodetic in 1935, later with the Defense Construction Supply Center as a budget analysis.

Mr. Duvall married Rosalie Connally of Centreville on Dec. 27, 1945, residing in Baltimore, returning to Centreville after his retirement in 1971.

He was a member of the Centreville American Legion, Jeff Davis Post 18, serving as past secretary and treasurer.

Mr. Duvall was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles F. Duvall, Lindsey O. Duvall and Raymond O. Duvall and a sister, Virginia D. Coleman.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie C. Duvall of Centreville; two sons, W. David Duvall Jr. of New York, N.Y., and Charles Edward Duvall of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Charlotte Creamer of Warnock, Ohio; a brother, Edwin L. Duvall of Westminster; and five grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 408 S. Liberty St., Greensboro.

Friends may call 3-5 p.m. today.

Burial will be in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company Inc., 212 Broadway, Centreville, MD 21617.

Richard 'Rich' Ellis Lister, 38

GOLDSBORO, Md. - Richard ''Rich'' Ellis Lister of Goldsboro died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, in Wyoming, Del. He was 38.

Mr. Lister was born on July 12, 1960, in Easton, the son of Jack and Lois Neall Lister of Goldsboro, Maryland.

He was employed by Saulsbury Bros. as a foreman for over 20 years.

Mr. Lister enjoyed old cars and landscaping work.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, JoAnne Lister; maternal grandmother, Elva Neall of Henderson, a stepson, J.R. Clough Jr. of Harrington, Del.; four brothers, Harry Lister of Harrington, Walter Lister of Ingleside, Jimmy Lister of Goldsboro and John Lister of New York; two sisters, Doris Porter and Betty Lister, both of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Cecile ''Dee'' Bryant of Marlton, N.J.. and one stepgrandchild.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery.

F. Willis Ryan Jr., 71

SMYRNA - F. Willis Ryan Jr. of Smyrna died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio. he was 71.

Mr. Ryan was born on Dec. 15, 1927, in Smyrna, the son of the late Frank and Hester Davis Ryan.

He was a well-known dairy and grain farmer in the Smyrna area for most of his life, retiring in 1993.

Mr. Ryan enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and hunting.

He was a member of the Eastern Shore Quarter Horse Association.

Mr. Ryan was preceded in death by a son, Frank W. Ryan III in 1980, and a brother, James Ryan in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Smith Ryan of Smyrna; two sons, Wayne W. Ryan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jon E. Ryan of Smyrna; two daughters, Rosanna Ryan Carson of Symrna and Malisa J. Ryan of Ft. Lauderdale; a sister, Patricia R. Clark of Kenton; and five grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Edward James Waters, 79

SNOW HILL, Md., - Edward James Waters of Snow Hill died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in Berlin Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for over five years. He was 79.

Mr. Waters was born on July 19, 1919, in Snow Hill, the son of the late Bo-Henry and Henrietta Waters.

He received his education in the Worcester County Public Schools.

Mr. Waters, ''Ed'' as he was fondly called, relocated to Philadelphia for many years, later returning to Worcester County.

He married Sarah Louis Chester in 1947 and shared a loving relationship until his death.

Mr. Waters was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Truitt.

In addition to his devoted wife of 51 years, he is survived by a son, Edward Waters Jr. of Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Louise Waters of Philadelphia; a sister, Evelyn Allen of Snow Hill; a uncle, Howard Waters of Snow Hill and a host of neices, nephews, Cousins and friends.

Sevice will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Wesley U.M. Church, Snow Hill, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Mount Wesley U.M. Church Cemetery, Snow Hill.

Elmer E. Raab III, 69

BEAR - Elmer E. Raab III of Bear died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in his winter residence, Punta Gorda, Fla. He was 69.

Mr. Raab was a lab technician with Sun Oil Co., Marcus Hook, Pa. for 36 years, retiring in 1984.

He loved his hobbies including woodcarving and horseback riding.

Mr. Raab was a charter member of Red Lion Evangelical Free Church, Bear, charter member and past president of Delaware Quarter Horse Association and a member of the Chester Lodge 236 F. & A.M. in Chester.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Dulin Raab; two daughters, Sandra Raab Harrell of Telford, Pa. and Cynthia Raab Blum of Middletown; his father, Elmer Raab Jr. of Townsend; and a brother, Donald C. Raab of Townsend and four grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Red Lion Evangelical Free Church, 1400 Red Lion Road, Bear, where friends may call 6-8 p.m. today.

Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Odessa.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association or Arthritis Foundation Delaware Chapter, Wilmington.

Anna Mae McDowell, 86

GREENWOOD - Anna Mae McDowell of Greenwood died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in her home. She was 86.

Mrs. McDowell was born in Hammerton, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Ruth Burnett.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. McDowell was interested in flower gardening and baking.

She was a member of Todd's United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the church treasurer for many years.

Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1990.

She is survived by a son, James B. McDowell of Greenwood; three daughters, Jean O'Bier of Greenwood, Ruth Taylor of Plymouth, N.C., and Virginia Dorofee of Greenwood; three brothers, Leroy Burnett of Mendenhall, Pa., Robert Burnett of Kennett Square, Pa., and James Burnett of Lady Lake, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Cockerham of West Chester, Pa., Josephine Hutchinson of Lancaster, Pa., and Alice Chiffons of Newark; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery, Bridgeville.

Lester Burdette Huey, 74

GREENWOOD - Lester Burdette Huey of Greenwood died after a long illness Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in his home. He was 74.

Mr. Huey was born in Denton, Md., the son of Clarence ''Gus'' and Edna Kirkpatrick Huey.

He was a lifelong resident of Greenwood.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Besugo Navy submarine as a Torpedoman 2nd class.

Mr. Huey was a farmer and pipefitter.

He was interested in gardening and fishing.

Mr. Huey was a member of the Greenwood VFW Post 7478 and Harrington American Legion Post 7. He was a member of the Greenwood CHEER Center and Pipefitter Local 782, Seaford.

He was preceded in death by a son, Floyd N. Huey.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy ''June'' Huey; six sons, Donald L. Huey of Greenwood, Richard E. Huey of Bridgeville, Kenneth A. Huey of Petersburg, Wayne D. Huey, Ronald W. Huey and Kevin D. Huey, all of Greenwood; a brother, James Huey of Milford; a sister, Marlette Booke of Lewes; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Friends may also call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Todd's Chapel Cemetery, Greenwood.

Helen A. Rust, 74

GEORGETOWN - Helen A. Rust of rural Georgetown died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 74.

Mrs. Rust had been an operator for the Diamond State Telephone Co. in Georgetown for several years.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling and reading.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles S. Rust; a son, Allen Rust Sr. of Milford; two daughters, Laura Swartz of Dagsboro and Bertha Johnson of Georgetown; a sister; Emma Jean Logan of Seaford; a brother, Landreth Adams Jr. of Georgetown and five grandchildren, Carrie Esham of Frederick, Md., Aaron Swartz of Dagsboro, Allen ''AJ'' Rust Jr. of Milford, Lauren Rust of Milford and Elizabeth Johnson of Georgetown.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Grace U.M. Church, King Street, Georgetown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

Paul Fred Wood Sr., 70

CENTREVILLE, Md. - Paul Fred Wood of Centreville died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in his home. He was 70.

Mr. Wood was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Easton, the son of the late Joseph Haston and Florence Jane Breeding Wood.

He graduated from Centreville High School.

Mr. Wood served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, receiving an honorable discharge in 1952.

He married Emma Louise Milby of Centreville on Dec. 23, 1955.

Mr. Wood began his career as a farmer in Queen Anne's County, beginning Fred Wood Trucking Co. in 1960. He drove school buses for the Kent Private School and Queen Anne's County Board of Education.

He was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Centreville.

Mr. Wood was a member of VFW Post 7464 in Grasonville, and a member of the American Legion Jeff Davis Post 18 in Centreville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Haston Wood Jr. and Lawrence Linsly ''Tink'' Wood.

In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by a son. Paul Fred ''Freddie'' Wood Jr. of Centreville; a daughter, Barbara Louise Kimble of Chestertown; a twin brother, Nicholas Irwin Wood of Centreville; three sisters, Anna Frances Ladd of Columbiana, Ohio, Florence Eugenia ''Jean'' Nett of Price, and Patricia Theresa Crist of Florida; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Centreville.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville.
