Anne Toke Ford, 80

SEAFORD - Anne Toke Ford of Seaford, died of heart failure Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, in Methodist Manor House, Seaford. She was 80.

Mrs. Ford graduated from Roger Ludlow High School in Fairfield, Conn., in 1936, and from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, Bridgeport, Conn., in 1939.

She was a registered nurse and worked at the Bridgeport Hospital 1939-1951.

Mrs. Ford did volunteer work for the Red Cross and at the Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, N.J.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dover, N.J., and of St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford. She also was a member of the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R. Ford, in 1997.

She is survived by a son, Edwin J. Ford of Littleton, N.H.; a daughter, Karen F. Cramer of Seaford; two sisters, Julia Swanston of Fairfield and Rose Schwahl of Southern Pines, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

Service and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to the Methodist Manor House Benevolent Fund, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, DE 19973.

Earl Raful, 60

DOVER - Earl Raful of Dover died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998. He was 60.

Mr. Raful was the owner of Furniture Junction in Dover.

He was a member of Congregation Beth Sholom, Dover.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Raful.

He is survived by his wife, Madelyn Goldberg Raful of Dover; a son, Mitchell Raful of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Denise Holechek, and her husband, Patrick, both of Owings Mills, Md., and Melinda Wright, and her husband, Orlando, both of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Myra Jean Garman of Akron, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Kyle Holechek and Brooke Holechek, both of Owings Mills, and Briana Wright of Albany.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sol Levinson & Bros. Inc., Baltimore.

Burial will be in Baltimore.

In memory of Earl Raful, the family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Tammy Lynn Parsons, 17

WATTSVILLE, Va. - Tammy Lynn Parsons of Wattsville died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998. She was 17.

Miss Parsons was born in Milford, Del., the daughter of Richard Parsons and Patricia Woehrle Parsons.

She was a member of the Church of God in Chincoteague, Va.

She is survived by her parents, Richard and Patricia Parsons; her maternal grandparents, Paul S. and Patricia Woehrle, both of Milford; her paternal grandparents, Paul P. and Elma C. Parsons, both of Lincoln, Del.; five uncles, Paul Woehrle of Silver Spring, Md., Phillip Woehrle of Lincoln, Jonathon Woehrle of Washington, D.C., Paul E. Parsons of Milford and David A. Parsons of Wilmington, Del.; three aunts, Phillis Hammond and Diane Parsons, both of Lincoln, and Carolyn Sharpe of Frederica, Del.; and two devoted friends, Harold and Betty Lancaster, both of Wattsville.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the Church of God, Chincoteague.

Burial will be in Downing Cemetery, Oak Hill.

Charlotte Howarth German, 77

LEWES - Charlotte Howarth German of Lewes died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was 77.

Ms. German was born in 1920, in Lewes.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter B. Howarth, in 1962; her second husband, Norman German, in 1989; a daughter, Belinda A. Ritter; and a brother, Jack Wingate.

She is survived by three sons, Walter U. Howarth of Millsboro, Richard Jan Howarth and William Howarth of Rehoboth Beach; and a sister, Jane Miller of Salisbury, Md.

Service will be noon Friday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Burial will be private.

Albert W. Goetchius, Jr., 72

REHOBOTH BEACH - Albert W. Goetchius, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 72.

Mr. Goetchius was born June 6, 1926, in Beacon, N.Y., the son of the late Albert W. Goetchius Sr. and Dorothy Brown Eddy.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy 1943-1946 and 1959-1963. He entered service as an aviation metalsmith; attended radar school at Willow Grove, Pa.; and earned his wings and served as a flight engineer during the Cuban missile crisis.

After his discharge, Mr. Goetchius was an engineer on the New York Central Railroad, and then a sheet-metal worker. A stroke disabled him in 1968, and he went to work at Sterling Drug Inc. in New York City, starting as a stock boy and security guard before being promoted to executive chauffeur.

He was a member of American Legion Henlopen Post 5, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7447, Rehoboth Beach.

He is survived by his second wife, Kathleen; a son, Scott Albert Goetchius of Connecticut; a daughter, Sharon Gullikson of Connecticut; two half-sisters, Patricia Greene of New York City and Martha Jane Maraitis of Hyde Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren, all of Connecticut; and several nephews and nieces.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Burial will be private.

Marion Lewis, 62

SMYRNA - Marion Lewis of Smyrna, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, in her home. She was 62.

Mrs. Lewis was born Sept. 2, 1936, in London, England, the daughter of the late Frank and Anne McDonald Wiltshire.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, John D. Lewis; three sons, David L. Myers and Richard G. Myers, both of Hartly, and Steven P. Myers, at home; a daughter, Debra A. Shirk of Newark; two brothers, Terry Taylor and John Taylor, both of Hartly; a sister, Anne Croft of Canberra, Australia; and six grandchildren.

Service and burial will be private.

Daniel G. Schnakenberg, 57

MILTON - Daniel G. Schnakenberg of Milton, died of esophageal cancer Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, in his home. He was 57.

Mr. Schnakenberg grew up in Nyack, N.Y., and eventually moved to Delaware in the early 1980s.

He served four years in the U.S. Navy.

After that, Mr. Schnakenberg spent most of his life in the printing business. He worked for Cape Henlopen School District during the last five years before his retirement, due to illness, in 1996.

He was a member of Eagles' Nest Fellowship Church and had been a member of the choir of Goshen United Methodist Church. He also was an active member of the Possum Point Players.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki A. Sammons; two stepsons, Jeffrey Sammons of Boston and Drew Sammons, along with Drew's family, all of Milton; his mother, Kathleen Schnakenberg of Selbyville; two brothers, Bill Schnakenberg of Campbell Hall, N.Y., and Ken Schnakenberg of Frisco, Texas; and a sister, Kathleen Schnakenberg of Nyack.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, in Eagles' Nest Fellowship Church, Del. 16, Milton.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Eagles' Nest Building Fund, RD 1 Box 169 M, Milton, DE 19968, or to Possum Point Players Building Fund, PO Box 69, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Emma J. Powell, 77

GEORGETOWN - Emma J. Powell of Georgetown, and formerly of Lewes, died of heart failure Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, in the Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes. She was 77.

Mrs. Powell had been a seamstress at the Sewing Room in Stockley Center, Hospital for the Mentally Retarded near Georgetown, retiring in 1984.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Powell, in 1971, and two sisters, Stella and Trudy.

She is survived by three daughters and two son-in-laws, Margie and Fred Stovall of Moran, Texas, Elinor and Ron Bawek of Harrington and Betty Doering of Georgetown; her mother, Matilda Foskey of Berlin, Md.; six brothers, Joshua Chandler of Dover, James and Linford Chandler both of Laurel, Clifford Foskey, Alton Foskey and Charles Foskey, all of Maryland; two sisters, Irene McNamira of Dover and Irma Lee of Maryland; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road and Delaware 24 in Long Neck, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in the Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

Theodore Jester, 92

GEORGETOWN - Theodore Jester of Georgetown, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, in the Harrison House, Georgetown, where he had been a resident for several months. He was 92.

Mr. Jester was a custodian at the Social Services Building in Georgetown, retiring in 1985. He was also a meat cutter at both ACME and A & F.

He had been a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Franklin Lodge 17 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Georgetown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Mae Jester in 1996.

He is survived by two nephews, Donald Jester of Harrington and Merrill Jester of Georgetown, who cared for him; two additional nephews and four nieces.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street in Georgetown.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where a Masonic Service will held at 7:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 7 South King Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Florence Elliott Workman, 86

GREENWOOD - Florence Elliott Workman of Greenwood, died of pneumonia Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 86.

Mrs. Workman was born in 1912, in Greenwood, the daughter of the late George Edward Elliott and Lola Evelyn Calloway.

She had been a cafeteria worker at Georgetown High School for 19 years, retiring in 1973.

Mrs. Workman had served as coordinator for Robin Hood Thrift Shop and had been a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Workman in 1977.

She is survived by a son, BG Ret. C. Elliott Workman of Seaford; a brother, Clifford Elliott of Redden; and three grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King Street in Georgetown, where the Rev. Pruitt-Barnett will officiate.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street in Georgetown.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
