Alfred A. Greenberg, 78

ROXANA - Alfred A. Greenberg of Roxana died of cancer Sunday, March 15, 1998, in the Millsboro Nursing Home, Millsboro. He was 78.

Mr. Greenberg was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a retired deputy sheriff of Union County, N.J.

Mr. Greenberg was avid ham radio operator and was credited with saving the lives of seven people who were in distress aboard a ship in the Caribbean Sea in the late '70s, by intercepting a distress signal.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Greenberg.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at the McClellan Street Cemetery, Newark, N.J.

Thelma M. Page, 78

LONG NECK - Thelma M. Page of Long Neck, formerly of Wilmington, died from complications of Alzheimer's disease Saturday, March 14, 1998, in the Harrison House, Georgetown. She was 78.

Mrs. Page was a homemaker.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rehoboth Beach, and was church soloist singing at Grace Methodist and St. Paul's Churches, both of Wilmington.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, M. Brinton Page; two sons, Arthur D. Page of Newark and Robert B. Page of Middletown; a brother, Norman D. Hughes of Ocean City, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 321 E. 11th St., Wilmington, DE.

Leonard Joseph Gresh, 68

MILFORD - Leonard Joseph Gresh of Milford died Saturday, March 14, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Gresh retired from the U.S. Navy in 1978, in California, after 21 years.

He moved to Milford in 1988 and worked as a custodian with Wilmington Trust, Milford.

Mr. Gresh was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Milford, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Milford.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Louise R.; a son, Robert Toscano of San Rafael, Calif.; two brothers, Michael and Robert Gresh, both of Girad, Pa.; and a sister, Elizabeth Gresh of Girad, Pa.

Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Apostle Parish, 506 Seabury Avenue, Milford.

Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, near Summit Bridge.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to St. John's Building Fund, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford, DE 19963.

Emily J. Rickards, 89

SEAFORD - Emily J. Rickards of Seaford died of heart failure Saturday, March 14, 1998, in the Methodist Manor House, Seaford. She was 89.

Mrs. Rickards was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry P. Rickards, in 1984.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.

Carl Hill, 72

HARRINGTON - Carl Hill of Harrington died of a heart attack Saturday, March 14, 1998, in his home. He was 72.

Mr. Hill was born in Hazelton, Pa.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Hill was employed as a social studies teacher with the Woodbridge School District, retiring in 1987 after 35 years of service. Also, he was a self-employed antiques dealer since 1956.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington, where he served as chairman of the memorial committee, member of the Harrington Senior Center, member of the Dover Stamp Club and member of the Adjutant of VFW Post 7478, Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary; a daughter, Robin Page of Greenville; and two brothers, Harvey Hill of Hazelton and Roland Hill of Wilmington.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Asbury U.M. Church, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington, DE 19952.

Myrtle E. Calhoun, 89

GREENWOOD - Myrtle E. Calhoun of Greenwood died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, in San Angelo, Texas. She was 89.

Mrs. Calhoun was born in Gumboro and lived in Greenwood most of her life.

She was a charter member of the Greenwood Cheer Program, member of the Harrington Senior Center and of Greenwood United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Medford; and 10 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy Calhoun and wife, Doris, of Harrington and Millard Calhoun and wife, Margie, of San Angelo; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fairmount Cemetery, San Angelo.

The family reguests any contributions be in her memory to the Greenwood Cheer Center or to the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming St., Harrington, DE 19952.

Theron Cramer, 60

WYOMING - Theron Cramer of Wyoming, formerly of Buckingham, Pa., died Sunday, March 15, 1998, in Bayhealth Medical Center/Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 60.

Mr. Cramer was the son of the late Nellie Luckey and Joseph Cramer.

He was veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Cramer moved to Wyoming 18 months ago.

He retired from American Electric in Pennsylvania where he was employed as a mechanic technician.

Mr. Cramer was a member of the American Motorcycle Association.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Cramer of Oxford, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Cramer; two sons, James Cramer of Brownsville, Pa., and Boyd Cramer of Philadelphia; a daughter, Cynthia Messick of Bensalem, Pa.; a brother, Floyd Cramer of Quakertown, Pa.; two sisters, Crissie Lasseter of Palmdale, Calif., and Charlotte Moore of Newtown, Pa.; and seven grandchilldren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be private.

Arietta M. Kerruish, 68

LEWES - Arietta M. Kerruish of Lewes died Sunday, March 15, 1998, in the Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 68.

Mrs. Kerruish was born in Chatteroy, W.Va.

She was a partner in the Twila Farrell/Retail Ladies Boutique, Lewes from 1996-1997, retiring in 1997.

Mrs. Kerruish was a member of First Baptist Church, Lewes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Litha Davis.

She is survived by her husband, William H. of Lewes; two sons, Terry Rucker of Vallejo, Calif., and David Schaffer, Ph.D., of Olathe, Kan.; daughter, Kimberly Chilsom of Bend, Ore.; and a granddaughter, Anna Marie Schaffer of Olathe.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens, Palm Harbor, Fla.

The family suggests contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 228C N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Frank Hall Davis, 75

REHOBOTH BEACH - Frank Hall Davis of Rehoboth Beach died Saturday, March 14, 1998, in his home. He was 75.

Mr. Davis was born in Philadelphia.

He was a graduate of Dover High School and Georgetown College, Washington, D.C. He attended Georgetown Law School, studied in the graduate school and at the Institute of Languages and Lingistics, specializing in Russian. Also, studied Russian at Indiana University, Columbia University and the Institute des Languages Orientales Vivantes, Paris.

Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; serving with the 24th MRU at Hq. USAFISPA, Camp Barnes, Noumea, New Caledonia. He made three return trips there to continue friendships.

He was employed as a high school teacher with Zama American High School, Camp Zama, Hq. U.S. Army Japan, where he taught languages for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Hall Davis and Vera Gilbride.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sadako W., of Rehoboth Beach.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Burial in Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

The family suggests contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Joseph Lane, 72

HARRINGTON - Joseph Lane of Harrington died of respiratory failure Sunday, March 15, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 72.

Mr. Lane was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was owner of Lane's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Service and was employed as a school bus driver with Lake Forest School for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Mr. Lane was a member of the VFW, Milford and the American Legion, Harrington.

He was an avid trap shooter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lillian; two sons, Carlos H. Wisseman of Felton and Alan R. Lane of Harrington; a daughter, Jo Anne DeMint of Circleville, Ohio; four brothers, Merritt Lane of Milford, George Lane of Harrington, Ray Lane of Tallahassee, Fla., and Lyman Lane of Houston; three sisters, Thelma Piccolo, Julia Holleger and Janet Lane, all of Milford; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Hayes of Dover, Joseph A. Lane of Bridgeville, Lance William Lane of Harrington, Devan-Rae Ryan and Joshua D. Ryan of Circleville, Ohio, and Elijah M. DeMint and Joanna Molly DeMint of Circleville, Ohio.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKnatt Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Flowers are acceptable.
