Edward J. Price, 76

FREDERICA - Edward J. Price of Frederica died of heart failure Sunday, April 26, 1998, in BayHealth Kent General Hospital. He was 76.

Mr. Price was born in Viola, the son of the late James and Elsie Mae Price.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II with 102nd Infantry Division Service Battery of 381st Field Artillery Battalion. He received the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Price retired in 1981, after 40 years with Conrail R.R., where he worked as a track foreman.

He was a member of VFW Post 6009 of Felton; Cub Scout Pack Member 141 of Felton; a member of R.R. Brotherhood Maintenance of Way and life member of Felton Fire Co.

Mr. Price loved to bowl and bowled on Milford Monday Seniors League. He enjoyed model railroading in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his son, John.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary 'Betty' Price of Frederica; two sons, Howard L. Price of Dover and Jay G. Price of Felton; one sister, Annie B. Messick of Dover; seven grandchildren.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Melvin Funeral Home, 13522 South DuPont Hwy., with Pastor William Robertson III officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery in Frederica.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Felton Fire Co., P.O. Box F, Felton, DE 19943 or N. Bowers Fire Co., P.O. Box 348, Frederica, DE 19946, or to the charity of your choice.

Eugene S. Schuyler, 89

DOVER - Eugene S. Schuyler of Dover, died of heart failure Sunday, April 26, 1998, in Kent General Hospital. He was 89.

Mr. Schuyler worked for Playtex Products, Dover, for 30 years, retiring in 1973.

He was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church in Goldsboro, Md., and the Modern Maturity Center in Dover.

His wife, Helen, died in 1995.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Noel Breton of Harrington.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. today in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Bethel Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 141, 435 Main St., Goldsboro, MD 21636.

Arrangements by Price Funeral Home, Harrington.

Michael Malagieri, 78

LEWES - Michael Malagieri, a resident of Lewes Convalescent Center, died of complications from cancer, Monday, April 27, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. He was 78.

Mr. Malagieri retired in 1982, as a supervisor with the Nicholson Construction Company of New York. He worked in several sections of America in heavy construction.

He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 2012, Seaford.

He is survived by his wife, Ida B. Malagieri of Lewes; one step-son, F. Clayton Downes of Milton; two sisters, Philamina Bozzella and Madelyn Scocca, both of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milford.

Bobby W. Griffin, 63

GREENWOOD - Bobby W. Griffin of Greenwood died of lung cancer Monday, April 27, 1998, in his home. He was 63.

Mr. Griffin was a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam veteran and received the Bronze Star.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Zott Griffin of Greenwood; a son, Glenn Griffin of Staten Island, N.Y.; two step-sons, David Zott of Greewood and Thomas Zott of Lincoln; a daughter, Karen Griffin of Boone, N.C.; a step-daughter, Nancy Zott Hudson of Georgetown; three brothers, Raymond of Orlando, Fla., Ronnie of Lenox, Ga. and Donnie of Fort Meade, Fla.; a sister, Dot Pickard of Fitzgerald, Ga.; two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Bloomery Cemetery in Federalsburg, Md.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 600 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.

Sally Gravenor Calloway, 82

SEAFORD - Sally Gravenor Calloway of Seaford, formerly of Galestown, Md., died of heart failure Monday, April 27, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Calloway was born in Galestown, Md., the daughter of the late Merrill Cooper and Myrtle Rae Brinsfield Gravenor.

She was a graduate of Hurlock High School, Class of 1933.

Mrs. Calloway was a housewife.

She was a member of Galestown United Methodist Church, Galestown, Md., and Ladies Auxiliary Sharptown Volunteer Fire Co., Sharptown.

Her husband, Halbert Wheatley Calloway, died in 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Calloway of Laurel, and Michael W. Calloway of East New Market, Md.; one sister, Mary G. Watson of Seaford; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Galestown Cemetery in Galestown.

The Rev. Wellington Watson will officiate.

Burial will be in Galestown Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions be made to Galestown Cemetery Fund, c/o Paul E. Wooten, 5922 Wheatly Church Rd., Seaford, DE 19973.

Paul R. Janeka, 82

NEW CASTLE - Paul R. Janeka of New Castle, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at home. He was 82.

Mr. Janeka was born and raised in the Dover area. He was a graduate of the Dover High School.

Mr. Janeka was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Seaman First Class. He was awarded the American Theatre Victory Medal.

He was an operating engineer, retiring in 1981 from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542 of Eastern Pa. and Delaware, after 25 years of service.

In addition to his wife, Theresa J. DeGrazia Janeka, he is survived by five sons, Paul R. Jr. of Greeley, Colo., Kenneth T. of Newark, Ted C. of N. Wilmington, Thomas R. of Newark, and Donald R. of Savannah, Ga.; three step-sons, Douglas L. Burkhalter of Savannah, Anthony DiFonzo and Arthur DiFonzo, both of Wilmington; two sisters, Julia Baumann and Charlotte Reynolds, both of Redlands, Calif.; 22 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 7 p.m Wednesday.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Charles A. 'Chic' Krams, 54

SEAFORD - Charles A. 'Chic' Krams of Seaford, died of a heart attack Monday, April 27, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 54.

Mr. Krams served in the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller.

He was a computer programmer for the First National Bank of Maryland in Millsboro for the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ward Krams; two sons, Charles A. Krams, Jr. of Seaford and Curtis A. Krams of Salisbury, Md.; one sister, Sarah Henderson of Pittsburgh, Pa.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley Street, Seaford, where friends may call a half hour prior to the service.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Blades Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 691, Seaford, DE 19973, or the American Heart Association, 600 North DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.

Helen J. Woodruff, 92

SEAFORD - Helen J. Woodruff of Seaford, formerly of Cape May, N.J., died of heart failure Sunday, April 26, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 92.

Mrs. Woodruff retired in 1976, from the Office of Rep. Charles Sandman, where she was the office manager. Prior to that, she was administrative assistant for Sen. H. Alexander Smith, both of New Jersey.

She was active in Republican politics her entire life in New Jersey.

Her husband, Franklin Woodruff, died in 1977.

She is survived by one step-son, Franklin 'Woody' Woodruff of Seaford; two step-daughters, Jane Woodruff Kearns of Lake of the Woods, Va. and Virginia MacConnell of Red Bank, N.J.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date in Cape May.

Arrangements by the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford.

Albert W. Horton, 87

SEAFORD - Albert W. Horton of the Methodist Manor House in Seaford, formerly of Laurel, died of natural causes Monday, April 27, 1998. He was 87.

Mr. Horton was born in Milford, the son of the late John W. Horton and Elizabeth V. Horton.

He was a graduate of the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1932.

Mr. Horton was a former Town Clerk of the Town of Laurel in the 1960s and a former Magistrate of the State of Delaware, working in the Sussex County Judicial System.

He worked as a salesman in the Sussex County area. He worked for Burris Foods in Milford for over 10 years.

He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel and an active member of the church choir.

His wife, Eleanor S. Horton, died in 1994.

He is survived by two sons, Gary S. Horton of Arlington, Va. and David B. Horton of Seaford; a daughter, Elizabeth Kinner of Portsmouth, N.H.; a brother, George Horton of Stewart, Fla.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Rev. Kevin English will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 230, Laurel, DE 19956.

Gladys Winifred Smedley, 90

LEWES - Gladys Winifred Smedley of Lewes, formerly of Elsmere, died Monday, April 27, 1998, in Lewes Convalescent Center. She was 90.

Mrs. Smedley was the daughter of the late James Wright and Febbie King.

She was a homemaker, and she lived in the Lewes area for 28 years.

Mrs. Smedley was a member of the Church of England.

Her husband, Gordon M. Smedley, died in 1989.

She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie J. Conover of Lewes and a son, John G. Smedley of Pedricktown, N.J.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes.

Friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. Friday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 1449 Kings Hwy., Lewes.

Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery.
