Delaware High School Yearbooks by County

McIntire, Imogene – Smyrna. Died at age 86, Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. Interment was private. Arrangements were by Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.

Offutt, Marie – Harrington. Died at age 90, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. Interment was in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore, Md. Arrangements were handled by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.

Patrick, Dolly Mae – Harrington. Died at age 72, Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. Private funeral services and interment are planned.

Spence, Mary Margaret – Greensboro, Md. Died at age 87, Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, in Ruxton Health of Denton, Md. Locally survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Diane Spence of Frederica. Interment was in Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, Md.

Warren, Francis ‘Babe’ – Clayton. Died at age 74, following a long battle with cancer Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at home. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Allen, Woodland S. –– Delmar. Died Friday, April 2, 2004, at age 84, at his home. He worked in the poultry industry for many years, for Marvel Packing in Hebron, Md., and Swift Poultry in Georgetown. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Sarah Stanley Allen. Locally survived by a daughter, Shirley Simms of Camden-Wyoming. Burial was in Mount Nebo Cemetery, Delmar.

Bass, Mackey –– Milford. Died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at age 83, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was a veteran of World War II and had worked as a self-employed waterman. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Burial was in Milford Community Cemetery.

Bennett, A. Ron –– Corpus Christi, Texas. Died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at age 51, at his family home in Marydel. He co-owned and operated R&R Market in Dover prior to moving to Texas. He also was active in various softball teams in Dover while he resided here. Survived by his mother, Connie Gebhardt Bennett of Marydel. Locally survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kevin Bennett and Brian and Judy Bennett, all of Marydel, and two sisters, Diane Bennett and Susan McClean, both of Dover. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.

Coverdale, Steven –– Milford. Died Monday, April 12, 2004, at age 47, at his home. He was a mechanic for S&J Tractor Sales and Service. Survived by his wife of 19 years, Joan Mason Coverdale. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.

Harris, Arta J. –– Clayton. Died Monday, April 5, 2004, at age 50. She was a substitute teacher in the Smyrna School District for nearly three years. Survived by her husband, Paul Harris. Locally survived by a daughter, Cherrish Beneke of Magnolia. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.

Hetsko, J. Richard –– Middlefield, Conn., formerly of Dover. Died Friday, April 2, 2004, at age 76. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was a longtime Sears employee, having worked at various stores, including Dover, and retiring in 1990. He also worked for International Latex (now Playtex International) while in Dover. He was a member of Wesley Methodist Church. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Faye Lyden Hetsko. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at Middlefield Federated Church, Middlefield.

Johnson, Margaret Pauline –– Smyrna. Died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at age 67, at her home. Survived by her husband of 47 years, Leslie J. Johnson. Locally survived by a daughter, Nancy Drejka of Felton; a stepson, Harold “Buddy” Johnson of Dover; and a stepdaughter, Nancy Austin of Dover. Burial was in Townsend Cemetery.

McKinnon, Joyce Everett –– Barclay, Md. Died Monday, April 5, 2004, at age 64, at her home. She was employed by Campbell Soup from 1966 to 1995 as an accounting supervisor and later worked at Chestertown Foods, retiring in 2003. She was a member of Marvin Memorial UMC and the former Chesterville 4-H Club. Locally survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Robin T. and Michael Rigby of Marydel. Burial was in Sudlersville Cemetery.

Parker, Carl Everett Jr. –– Seaford. Died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at age 81, at Life Care at Lofland Park, Seaford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He also was a carpenter, and a member of Trinity UMC in Bridgeville and the Harrington Moose Lodge. Locally survived by two sons, Michael Parker and Gary Parker, both of Dover; and a daughter, Nicole Parker of Dover. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

Pritchett, Eldred –– Millsboro. Died Friday, April 9, 2004, at age 96, at Green Valley Terrace, Millsboro. He worked for the Delaware State Highway Department (now DelDOT) then retired in 1973 as a custodian for the Cape Henlopen School District. He was a founding member of the Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cambridge, Md., and was an elder of the Millsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church. Survived by his wife of 71 years, Edith Hicks Pritchett. Locally survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Powell of Dover, Lowan Street-Pitts of Camden and Mary Doughty of Hartly. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Millsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, Cordrey Road, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Rayburn, Francis William –– Clayton, formerly of Unionville, Pa. Died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at age 93, at his home. He spent many years tending his orchard, growing and selling peaches and other fruits. Services were private.

Showell, Milton W. –– Millsboro. Died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at age 69, at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a truck driver for Best Cropper in Ocean City, Md., retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. John’s A.M.E. Church in Bishopville, Md. Locally survived by two brothers, Hodges Showell of Frederica and Martina Showell of Dover. A private burial was held in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Solloway, James R. ‘Sly’ –– Ridgely, Md., formerly of Smyrna. Died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at age 52, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. Survived by his wife, Cindy. Locally survived by a brother, Ben Solloway of Hartly. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Wilson, Howard William –– Milford. Died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at age 83, at Westminster Village Health Center, Dover. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and worked as a warehouseman for L.D. Caulk Co. (now Dentsply Caulk) in Milford for 23 years, retiring in 1982. He also worked for many years as a farmer in Sussex County. He was a member of the Ellendale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9244, and a former member of the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Co. Survived by his wife, Ruth Davis Wilson. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
