Brianna Althea Elizabeth Mallory

Services for Brianna Althea Elizabeth Mallory, 3, will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Calvary Baptist Church, Queen and Fulton streets, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier. Brianna died Thursday, August 5, 2004.

Brianna was born Dec. 18, 2000, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. daughter of Bruce Edwin and Barbara Louise Mallory of Dover

Like Jesus, Brianna worked in her special ministry here on earth, for three years. She taught us that no matter what we are going through, we should always “Give God the Praise!” She touched many lives in her family, her church, hospital communities and persons throughout the United States and the world via her website, www.caringbridge.org/de/briannamallory, and personal affiliations.

She was diagnosed with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia, a rare blood disease, on April 21, 2003. She received treatment at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital in Wilmington and at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. While hospitalized for several months during the past year, Brianna learned to count to 20, spell her name, ride a bike, put together 100-piece puzzles, operate a computer and witness to others about Jesus.

She was truly a little angel and handled much more treatment than one so little should ever have to endure.

She loved to praise dance, sing, smile and talk. She also enjoyed reading. Brianna would take a book, turn each page and begin speaking just like she was actually reading the words. Everyone said that she appeared older than her given age because of her ability to form complex sentences and reply to any questions. She was a very active and joyful girl. Her bright spirit kept everyone she met encouraged.

In addition to her parents, Brianna is survived by her caring grandmother, Edna Mallory; three brothers, Maurice Reaves, Delshun Turner and Bruce Mallory II; four sisters, Patrice Davis, Ebony Smith, Gabrielle Mallory and Samantha Mallory; a sister-in-law, Donna Turner; a brother-in-law, Reggie Davis; two nieces; six nephews; her grand godparents, Dolly and Paul Ayers; her godparents, Robert McPhatter and Wanda Davis; 10 aunts; six uncles; her best friends and cousins, Tyree Wayman and Ethel Donaldson; the medical staff of 3-A at Alfred I duPont Hospital and special friends, Leah, Bridget, Roderick “Deuce,” Lizzie, Andrč, Varvara, Frannie and all the children of 3-A.

Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Delaware Chapter, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.
