Claire M. Walls

Funeral services for Claire M. Walls, 88, of Wyoming will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier. Mrs. Walls died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Capitol Nursing Home, Dover.

Mrs. Walls was born May 12, 1916, in Holyoke, Mass., daughter of the late Adelard J. and Clara Anna Ley Levreault.

She was a homemaker.

She was a past active volunteer at the Dover Air Force Base hospital and the BRAVO office for 25 years.

Mrs. Walls was a member of Wyoming United Methodist Church, Wyoming-Camden Roundtable Club, Women of the Moose Lodge 1546 of Camden-Wyoming, AARP, Victory Chapter of Eastern Star OESIS and Caesar Rodney Lodge 2359, where she was past treasurer and the Modern Maturity Center, Dover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Walls, in November 1977; a sister, Dorothy Stires; a grandson, Jeff Gaetani; and a great grandson, Robert Gaetani.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Gaetani of Discover Bay, Calif., and Nicholas Gaetani of Belchertown, Mass.; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

William L. Wootten

Funeral services for William L. Wootten, 63, of Dover will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover. Mr. Wooten died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in his home with his family at his side.

Mr. Wootten was born in Havertown, Pa., son of the late J. Francis and Charlotte Lambert Wootten.

He graduated from Villanova College with a degree in accounting.

Mr. Wootten served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves. He moved to Milford in 1963.

He was employed with the Delaware Department of Transportation for several years and in 1966 joined General Foods Corp., now Kraft Foods, where he served as an accountant until his retirement in 1996.

He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Wootten had been a charter member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elk, Milford Lodge, and had recently gained membership in the Dover Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Irene Gustafson Wootten of Dover; a daughter, Peggy Sue Rawley of Hartly; four sons, Donald V. Rawley Jr. of Smyrna, Edward A. Rawley Sr. of Clayton, Francis E. Wootten of Smyrna and Brian O. Wootten of Hockessin; a sister, Edith Wootten of Milford; two brothers, Edward Wootten of California and John Wootten Sr. of Milford; and a stepbrother, Charles Loper of Texas.

The family suggests donations in his memory to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover DE 19901; or to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.

Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.

Richard David Zook

Funeral services for Richard David Zook, 62, of Dover were held Friday, Oct. 15, in Lofland Funeral Home, Milford. Mr. Zook died of natural causes Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, in Harbeson.

Mr. Zook was born Aug. 13, 1942, in Chester, Pa., son of the late David Michael and Barbara Carolyn Burris Zook.

He was a graduate of Claymont High School.

He was the owner and operator of Zook’s Country Store at Argo’s Corner from 1968 to 1975. He also was a truck driver for Wayne Hudson in Harbeson and later worked for Buddy Hudson as a parts runner and transport driver.

Mr. Zook was a ham radio operator and an avid collector. He loved animals and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Robin Zook of Dover; his son, Daniel Combs Sr. of Milford; a sister, Linda Benson of Milford; three grandchildren, Daniel Combs Jr., Christopher David Combs and Jennifer Combs; and his former wife, Dee Zook of Milford.

Burial was in Slaughter Neck Cemetery, Argo’s Corner, Milford.

Brianna Skyy Adams-Davis

Graveside services for Brianna Skyy Adams-Davis will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. Brianna died Sunday, October 3, 2004, in Christiana Hospital, Newark.

Brianna was born Sept. 26, 2004, in Christiana Hospital, Newark, daughter of Antron Dianta Adams and Mindy Lou Davis of Dover.

Brianna is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mary Sawyer of Dover; maternal grandfather Marvin A. Davis III and his wife Cynthia of Magnolia; paternal grandmother Tina Adams and her fiancé Marlin Sparks; paternal grandfather Michael Adams; maternal great grandfather Marvin Davis Jr. and his wife Ann of Hartly; maternal great grandmother Marian Jenkins of Arizona; paternal great grandmother, Mamie Rascoe of North Carolina; a brother, Alijah Webb of Camden and two uncles, Marvin A. Davis IV of Dover, and Derek Basnight.

Arrangements were by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover.

John L. Baker

Funeral services for John L. Baker, 60, of Greensboro, Md., were held Friday, Oct. 1, at the Fleegle-Helfenbein Funeral Home, P.A., Greensboro. Mr. Baker died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital of Easton, Md.

Mr. Baker was born Aug. 2, 1944, in Greensboro, son of Thomas Chester Baker Sr. of Bridgetown, Md., and the late Pauline Chaffinch Baker. He had lived in Greensboro his entire life.

Mr. Baker was a graduate of North Caroline High School and had attended electricians schools in Philadelphia. A U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he was later employed at Dover Air Force Base as a high voltage electrician, retiring after 24 years.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Virginia “Betty” Usilton Baker; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John C. Baker of Greensboro and James K. and Felicia Baker of Camden; and a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jared Darling of Federalsburg, Md.

Mr. Baker also is survived by three brothers, Thomas C. Baker Jr. of Bridgetown, Ronny L. Baker of Henrietta, Texas and Richard C. Baker of Laramie, Wyo.; a sister, Paula Fisher of Harrington; and five grandchildren, Sarah, Whitney, Jacob, Lyndsey and Jordan.

Burial was private.

Thomas E. Bernard Sr.

Funeral services for Thomas E. Bernard Sr., 71, of Frederica were held Tuesday, Oct. 5, in the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington. Mr. Bernard died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford.

Mr. Bernard was born in Felton, son of the late Thomas and Katherine Bernard.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later worked for Playtex in Dover from March 1960 until May 1995.

He loved to ride his motorcycle and talk on the CB radio. He loved his dog, Sunshine, who was his constant companion.

Mr. Bernard was a member of the Frederica Senior Center and the AARP. He also belonged to the Felton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6009, to the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 for 16 consecutive years, and was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge 1903. He was an avid motorcyclist and belonged to the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the Delmarva Chapter of Retreads M.C. International Inc. He also was a charter member of the Ford Racing Team.

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Bernard Jr.

He is survived by his stepmother, Violet E. Bernard; a stepson, Edward Satterfield; a stepdaughter, Tammy; three sisters, Mary Kathryn Overstreet of Dover, Violet L. Dean of Greenwood and Nancy Emory of Harrington; and four step-grandchildren.

Burial was in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.

Irene O. Haass Boehner

Funeral services for Irene O. Haass Boehner, 85, of Newark, formerly of Wyoming, were held Friday, Oct. 1, in Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mrs. Boehner died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, in her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Boehner was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Henderson, Md., daughter of the late Ralph and Priscilla Jones.

She was a self-employed beautician for 40 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Jimmy and Roy Jones.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, George W. and Pam Haass of Greenwood and Ronald D. and Joan Haass of Newark; a daughter and a son-in-law, Barbara H. and Bill Spruill of Wyoming; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

Burial was in Greensboro Cemetery, Md.

Grace Marie Minnick Brown

A memorial service for Grace Marie Minnick Brown, 67, of Dover will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge, Camden-Wyoming. Ms. Brown died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in her daughter's home in Yuma, Ariz.

Ms. Brown was born in Dover, daughter of the late Charles and Febie Walls.

She enjoyed sewing and crossword puzzles, and was an active member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Walls; and a daughter, April Cornish.

She is survived by five daughters, JoAnn Rose, Linda Bridgeford and Mary Cornish, all of Arizona, Sherrie Cornish of Texas, and Belinda Reedy of Delaware; a son, Roger Cornish of Colorado; a brother, Bobby Smith of Delaware; a sister, Ruth Ann Roberts of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Johnson’s Funeral Home, Yuma.
