John P. Murphy, 80, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 at Heartland of Brooksville.
Born in New York, Murphy came to this area more than 30 years ago. He was a heavy equipment operator for Florida Rock and a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Leota of Brooksville; two sons, Walter Aaskov and Alan Aaskov, both of Brooksville; six daughters, Suzanne A. Stanley, Tracey Ramsey, Karen Zavrel, all of Brooksville, Ginny Cage of Melbourne, Nancy Goode of Apopka, and Pat Carter of Homosassa; one brother, William Murphy of Brooksville; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Gertrude "Trudy" H. Alley Blaine, 94, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Care Center in Brooksville.
She was born in Melvern, Kan., and moved to this area 40 years ago from Dayton, Ohio. She was a registered nurse and a graduate in 1938 from the Miami Valley Nursing School in Miami, Ohio. She volunteered at Brooksville Regional Hospital for more than eight years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #175 in Ohio, loved quilting and cross stitch, and was a history buff. She was a member of Brooksville Christian Church.
Survivors include two brothers, William Heilman of New Carlisle, Ohio and Max Heilman of Covington, Ohio.

Megan Jane Cavanaugh, 23, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at her home. She was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to this area three years ago.
Survivors include her mother, Maryjane of Spring Hill; and a brother, Kris Valerio of Middleboro, Mass.

Josephine Catherine Widmer, 97, of Hernando Beach, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002.
She was born in Poland, lived in Lavonia, Mich., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Holiday. She had been a longtime resident of Evergreen Woods Retirement Community, Spring Hill.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur and Ronald Kasper, both of Hernando Beach; two daughters, Shirley Anderson of Hernando Beach and Patricia Knudstrup of Vero Beach; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two stepgranddaughters; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

John P. Canavan, 77, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at his home.
He was born in Newark, N.J., and moved to this area 15 years ago from New Jersey. He retired from the Ford Motor Corporation. He was an Irish Tenor singer and a Christian by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Faith; three daughters, Pat Shaubauch of Crystal River, Janet of New Jersey, and Catherine Tomlinson of Spring Hill; a sister, May of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert "Bob" L. Parks, 89, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at Heartland of Brooksville.
He was born in Franklin County, Georgia, and moved to this area 15 years ago from Pinellas Park. He was a member of Brooksville Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Shady Hills and Randall of Brooksville; two brothers, Ned J. of Jacksonville and Ralph of Commerce, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Clarence W. "Boyd" Bishop, 81, of Brooksville, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at his home.
He was born in Salem, Va., and moved to this area 23 years ago from Mt. Clemens, Mich. He was a U.S. Air Force civilian supervisor at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan, for 30 years, retiring in 1971 with a job-related disability. He was a special deputy with the Macomb County Sheriff's Department, Michigan, a Major in the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary), Michigan, and a Colonel in the National Chaplain's Association, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine "Gerrie"; a son, Clarence G. "Skip" of California; two daughters, Luanne J. Goerlick of Virginia and Linda G. Tew of Brooksville; seven grandsons; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Aida Louise Watson, 96, of Crystal River, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at Crystal River Health & Rehab Center, Crystal River.
She was born in Liverpool, Ohio, and moved to Miami in 1943, where she and her husband Dale owned and operated Watson's Restaurant for over 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Frasier of Ocala; four grandchildren, Dayle Eldredge of Boulder, Colo., D'Anne Messer and Dayna Bordeleau, both of Tampa and Darren Frasier of Homosassa Springs; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Shaun Frasier, both of Homosassa.

Robert "Bob" Dowd, 46, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002 at his home.
He was born in Hornell, N.Y., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Angelica, N.Y. He retired from Central Power & Lime and was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Betty M.; two sons, Robert P. Jr. and Michael A., both of Brooksville; his father, Edward of Belfast, N.Y.; two brothers, James and William, both of Angelica; and a sister, Deborah Ford of Angelica.

Jean C. Schmidt, 79, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville.
She was a native of Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Elmhurst, Ill. She was a homemaker and a Lutheran by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Wenzel; a daughter, Susan Thomson of Longwood, Fla.; a sister, Margorie Cosentino of Qwani, Wis.; and two grandchildren.

Leo Johnson, Sr., 77, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was born in Micanopy, Fla., and moved to this area 68 years ago from Gainesville. He was a retired maintenance foreman for the railroad and a member of Eastside House of God Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita; a son, Leo, Jr. of Brooksville; three daughters, Mary Ann Waddy and Gloria J. Washington, both of Brooksville, and Norma J. of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Bishop Otis of Bradenton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Roy E. Rudolph, 70, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Monkey Eyebrow, Ky., and moved to this area 27 years ago from Tampa. He was the previous owner and president of Rudolph & Lawler, land surveying and engineering company, and Roy Rudolph Construction Corporation, land development and road construction, and Rudolph Engineering Corporation construction and engineering supervisor. He was president of the board of directors of ARC from 1991 to 1996, charter member of West Hernando Chamber of Commerce, serving as president and director, and a member of the Hernando Builders Association, where he served several terms on the board of directors and was state director, West Hernando Rotary Club, Hernando County Fair Association and CattlemenÕs Association, serving as director for both organizations, and served on the first board of directors for Oak Hill Hospital. He was one of the developers for ÒThe OaksÓ subdivision and engineer of record for River Country Estates, Lake in the Woods, East Linden Estates, Holland Springs Industrial Park and numerous other land development projects.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; two daughters, Krista of New Port Richey and Ava Sue Walker of Portland, Ore.; a stepson, John T. Ward of Brandon; and a granddaughter, Tatum Sue Walker of Grand Junction, Colo.

Joseph A. Roberts, 77, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 at his home.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area 13 years ago from New Hyde Park, N.Y. He was a field operator for Con Edison, New York, N.Y., a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree St. Jude Council 6383, Spring Hill, and St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill, where he was an usher.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; a son, Joseph A. of Brooksville; a daughter, Kathleen of Spring Hill; a sister, Delores Peers of Spring Hill; and two grandchildren.

Betty Jean Duval, 76, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Emporia, Kan., and moved to this area a year ago from Kansas City, Mo. She was a homemaker and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include two sons, Jules, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, and Michael of Kansas City; two daughters, Christine Wise of Spring Hill and Theresa Calovich of Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Clyde Swaner, 76, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001 at his home.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved to this area three years ago from California. He worked for Swaner Hardware Inc., Burbank, Calif., for many years. He was an active flyer of pigeons during his retirement and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater of War.
Survivors include three sons, Steven and Richard, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ronald Pendleton of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Debbie of Las Vegas and Patricia Kriste of Encino, Calif.; a brother, Keith; two sisters, Bonnie Kaplan and Darlene West; and four grandchildren.

Alleine L. Curry, 97, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001.
She was born in Ellenburg Center, N.Y., and moved to this area 29 years ago from Mooers, N.Y. She was a retired elementary schoolteacher and a member of Brooksville Wesleyan Church, where she sang in the choir.
Survivors include her brother, Calvin L. of Athens, Greece; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia A. Gaines, 68, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001 at Brooksville Healthcare Center, Brooksville.
She was born in Elkhart, Ind., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW, Hernando Beach, and American Legion, High Point, Brooksville.
Survivors include a son, C.G. Hartsell of Bourbonnais, Ill.; three daughters, Cheryl Frey of Wauseon, Ohio, Darcy Anderson of Indiana and Robin of Spring Hill; a stepson, Ronald of Toledo, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Jane Cambson of Frostproof, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area five years ago from Groveport, Ohio. She retired from Glassman Inc., Groveport, after 28 years of service as a secretary and worked for the city of Brooksville for four years in the administrative department. She was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Dan; a daughter, Pamela Dray of Reynoldburg, Ohio; six brothers, Joseph Brady of Leesburg, Ind., David Brady of Nokomis, Fla., Thomas Brady of Virginia Beach, Va., James Brady of Illinois, Michael Brady of Mokena, Ill., and Robert Brady of Savoy, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Franey of Concorda, Kan., and Judy Weller of Fond du Lac, Wis.; and two grandchildren.

She was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to this area 20 years ago. She was a homemaker and a Catholic by faith.
She is survived by her nephew, William R. Keller of Lakewood, Ohio.

Dorothy L. Eno, 88, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at Evergreen Woods Health Care Center.
She was born in Beloit, Wis., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Beloit. She was a member of the Yasmin Shrine Guild, High Point Duplicate Bride Club, High Point Social Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Mariner United Methodist Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include her nephew/guardian, Michael of Palm Harbor; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Sanders of Wisconsin.

Herbert W. Dettman, 80, of Cloverleaf Farms, Brooksville, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at his home.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to this area 17 years ago from Greendale, Wis. He was a retired zoo employee in Milwaukee for 14 years, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two sons, Robert A. of W. Allis, Wis., and Richard H. of Greenfield, Wis.; a daughter, Bonnie L. Algrin of Greendale; two sisters, Beverly Littmann of Brookfield, Wis., and Barbara A. Cook of Des Plaines, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley L.; two sons, Daniel and David, both of Thompson, Conn.; a daughter, Dianne of Putnam, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Sacco of Tampa; a brother, Fred of Vermont; a sister, Norma Zielinski of Branford, Conn.; and seven grandchildren.

Survivors include his companion, Jimmie L. Carnell of Dade City; his mother, Evelyn F. of Ridge Manor; two sisters, Barbara Farleigh of Ridge Manor and Janet Higginbotham of Tipp City, Ohio; three nephews, a niece; four grandnephews; and three grandnieces.
