Helen Della Murrish
Helen Della Murrish, age 86, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Susan's Country Manor. Born Sept. 27, 1917, in Rochester, Mich., Mrs. Murrish had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1958 and was former owner of Williamson Dairy, Inc. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Murrish.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of over 66 years, Val Murrish of Okeechobee; children, Robert (Barbara) Murrish of Fort Lauderdale, Mary Ellen (Tom) Hilborn of Lilburn, Ga., Bill (Lavon) Murrish and Barbara (Hugh) Thomas, a11 of Okeechobee; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Andrews of Lake Orion, Mich. and Mary Waid of Deerfield Beach.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 26, from 4 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. with Cary McKee, officiating. Interment will follow in Basinger Cemetery.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ruby Lee Hill
Ruby Lee Hill, age 77, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee. Born Nov. 5, 1927, in Sylvania, Ga. Mrs. Hill had been a resident of Okeechobee for 12 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Alma L. (Larry) Wright of Okeechobee; grandsons, Bruce L. (Vanesha) Wright, and Larry L. (Sandra) Wright all of Okeechobee and Caesar L. (Thea) Wright of Kentucky; four great grandchildren; sister, Odessa Garner of Waycross, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Hope Ministry Center Church of God on Saturday, Dec. 27, from 11 a.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m. Bishop Kenneth Williams, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Hazzard Hill Cemetery in Waycross, Ga.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Thomas F. Saunders
Thomas F. Saunders, age 59, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1942, in West Virginia to Kenneth and Margaret (Lamb) Hartbarger. Mr. Saunders was an employee of W & W Lumber Company.
Preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Survivors include: two daughters, Marti Ferrell of North Carolina and Dawn Tawney of Canton, Ga.; also surviving him is three grandchildren.
Private services will be held.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Mary Louise McMath
Mary Louise McMath, age 94, of Okeechobee, formerly of Centralia, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born April 17, 1907, in Centralia, Ill., to Henry Barney and Emily Caroline (Panshaw) Reinhard. She was an elementary school teacher all of her life in Centralia, Ill. Miss McMath was affiliated with the First United Presbyterian Church in Centralia, Ill.
Survivors include: sister-in-law, Clara Reinhard of Okeechobee; nieces, Julie Moore of Okeechobee and Emma Lou Lacher of Jupiter; son-in-law, Damon Billings; grandsons, Kenneth and Gary Billings of Phoenix, Az. and two great-grandchildren also survive her.
Funeral services will be graveside in Hillcrest Cemetery, Centralia, Ill. on Monday, Dec. 24, with Pastor Edwin Evans officiating.
All local arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Diane Ruth Turriff
Diane Ruth Turriff, age 58, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 at her home. Born Feb. 5, 1945 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Diane had been a resident of Okeechobee for five years. She was a member of Resurrection Life World Outreach Church.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of 40 years, Richard B. Turriff of Okeechobee; four sons, Dean (Amy) Turriff of Baraga, Mich., Dennis (Sandra) Turriff of Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, Danny (Rene) Turriff of Fort Pierce and Donny (Jill) Turriff of Port St. Lucie; six grandchildren; brothers, Glen, Wayne and Brian Berg, all of Wisconsin; three sisters, Sandie Vandenhauten of Fort Lauderdale, Dorothy Smith of Newnan, Ga. and Linda Armstrong of Kaukauna, Wis.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at Resurrection Life World Outreach Church, 1803 S.W. Third Ave., with Reverend David C. SanMartin, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Life World Outreach Church.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory

Charles M. Yecker
Charles M. Yecker, age 80, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. Mr. Yecker was born March 10, 1923 in Lancaster, Pa. to Raymond and Adella Yecker.
Mr. Yecker was an Okeechobee resident for 17 years moving from Fort Lauderdale. He was a retired postman. Mr. Yecker was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was also a veteran of World War II. He served in the Navy.
Mr. Yecker was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Yecker.
Survivors include: three sons, Michael and Charlie Yecker, both of West Palm Beach, and Peder Pederson, of Margate; sister, Doris Resh, and brother, Paul Yecker, both of Lancaster, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and, four great- grandchildren.
Mass dedicated to Charles M. Yecker will be held 10 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Hugh Duffy officiating.
A11 arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Gerald Travis Herndon, Sr.
Gerald Travis Herndon, Sr., age 66, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at his residence. Born May 27, 1937 in Bennettsville, S.C., Mr. Herndon had been a resident of Okeechobee for six months.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Herndon; brother, Allan Herndon; and, sisters, Cora Helen Crouse and Bobbie Jean Croley.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald "Jerry" T. (Linda) Herndon, Jr. and Raymond (Karen) Herndon of Okeechobee; two daughters, Diane Goodwin of Alabama and Beth Herndon of Okeechobee; mother, Missouri Herndon of Bennettsville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and, two sisters, Ronna Dale Rosser and Linda Seals, both of Bennettsville, S.C.
Funeral services will be in Bennettsville, S.C. on Tuesday, at 3 p.m. with interment following at the Sunset Memorial Park under the direction of Whitner-Evans Funeral Home.
A11 arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Imogene Dora DeBerry
Imogene Dora DeBerry, age 82, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. DeBerry was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Lutesville, Mo.
Several nieces and nephews survive Mrs. DeBerry.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Dec. 30, at 4 p.m., at the Victory Baptist Church, 500 S.W. Ninth Street with Pastor Johnny Jarriel, officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lewis J. "L.J." Harvey
Lewis J. "L. J." Harvey, age 80,of Kenansville, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home. A member of a pioneer Osceola County ranching family, he was born in Kenansville on Oct. 19, 1923, the son of H. Z. "Hub" and Bessie (Johns) Harvey, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from St. Cloud High School in 1942 and was an all star high school football player. He started a lifelong career in ranching at the time of his marriage to the former Thelma Sellers in 1941. He owned and operated Triple L Sod Company with his son-in-law, Carl Teel, Jr., until his retirement in the early 1990's. Mr. Harvey was currently a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Kenansville. He was also a charter member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Yeehaw and served as a Deacon until failing health intervened. He served three terms as an Osceola County Commissioner in the 1950's and 60's, including two years as chairman.
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Thelma; daughters, Sylvia Teel and Marilyn Outlaw, son, Wayne Harvey, sister, Lorene Hancock, all of Kenansville; grandchildren, Leslie Teel, Lianne McCoy, Lara Stark and Sara Beth Outlaw, all of St. Cloud; eight great grandchildren and several nephews and cousins.
Visitation for friends will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Grissom Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Kenansville, with Rev. Jack Sever, officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles Colburn, Rev. Rex Turman and Rev. Carl Teel, Sr.
Interment will follow at Kenansville Cemetery.
Grissom Funeral Home and Crematory, Kissimmee was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Belle Mayo
Betty Belle Mayo, age 74, of Okeechobee, formerly of Huntington, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
She was born on May 11, 1927, in Cabell County, the daughter of the late Lester and Imogene Gothard Wallace. Mrs. Mayo was retired from C & P Telephone and was a member of the Pioneers. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School and attended Marshall University.
Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Chris Mayo of Okeechobee; son, Larry (Linda) Mayo of Fort Pierce; sister, Ann Thompson of Huntington, W. Va.; sister-in-law, Sue Price of Huntington, W. Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Mayo of Okeechobee; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive her.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Reger Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m., at the Reger Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Savage officiating. Interment to follow in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
All arrangements were under the direction and care of the Reger Funeral Home of Huntington, W.V.

Alice Glennadean Barger
Alice Glennadean Barger, age 80, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born June 6, 1921, in Russells Point, Ohio, Mrs. Barger had been a resident of Okeechobee for 20 years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Barger.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Darryl Rogers of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

John A. Yannett Jr.
John A. Yannett Jr., age 65,of Okeechobee died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Palm Beach Gardens before moving to Okeechobee in 1984. He was a quality and manufacturing engineer for Pratt Whitney for 20 years on J58 and RL 10 Programs retiring in 1992. He was a model train H.O. Scale enthusiast, a hunter education instructor - volunteer since 1975 with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Survivors include: his wife, Paulette Yannett of Okeechobee; two daughters, Donna Yannett Rising and husband Thomas James of Palm City and Denise Yannett Cargill and husband J. Stephen of Hobe Sound; two grandchildren, Taylor Thomas Rising and Danielle Rene Rising; two brothers, Vincent Wesley Yannett of Pennsylvania and Roger Allen Yannett of Colorado; also surviving is Judith Yannett of Palm Beach Gardens.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 4 p.m., at the Thomas L. Price Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions to the M.D.A./M.G., 3222 D. Commerce Pl., West Palm Beach, Fl. 33407, would be appreciated.
All arrangements were under the care of the Thomas L. Price Funeral Home, North Palm Beach.

Florence Estelle Napiantek
Florence Estelle Napiantek, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Dec. 16, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Napiantek, formerly of West Palm Beach, had been a resident of Okeechobee for 18 years.
Survivors include: her husband of 45 years, Norbert J. Napiantek of Okeechobee; one daughter, Karen (Tony) Wharton, M.D. of Cranston, R.I.; one grandson, Campbell Henry Wharton of Cranston, R.I.; two brothers, Joel (Mable) Chernin of Sebastian and Larry (Maria) Chernin of Alta Loma, Calif.; and one sister, Sandra Juni of Boynton Beach also survives her.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 5 until 6 p.m.
Funeral services will follow on Dec. 20, at 6 p. m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jay Berger, officiating. Private interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lillie Carter Holley
Lillie Carter Holley, age 96, of Orlando, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Sunbelt Health Care in Apopka. Mrs. Holley was born July 6, 1907, in Blackshear Ga. and has been in the Orlando area for four years. Mrs. Holley also lived in Winter Haven and the Frostproof area for 33 years, moving from Cheyenne, Wyo. She attended the First Baptist Church in Winter Haven and was a homemaker by trade.
Survivors include: her sons, David Ledger Carter (Betty) of Orlando, Frank Eugene Carter of Cheyenne, Wyo., James Edsel Carter of Waynesville, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and, 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 1 until 2 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with the Reverend Rolla M. Marlatte Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. All arrangements are under the direction and care of McLean Funeral Home.

Philip D. Wright
Philip D. Wright, age 80, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Mr. Wright was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Taunton, Mass. to Philip and Alice Griswold Wright and had been a resident of Okeechobee for 16 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by: his son, Raymond Wright; and, sister, Dorothy Rochelle.
Survivors include: his wife of 13 years, Audrey J. Wright of Okeechobee; daughters, Judy Salapa of Tampa, Linda Boyle of Orlando and Patti Wright of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and, one sister, Barbara Hilte of North Attleboro, Mass.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m., at Oakview Baptist Church, 677 S.W. 32nd St., with Pastor, Dr. John Keith, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Leland C. Pearce
Leland C. Pearce, age 83, of Buckhead Ridge, died Dec. 13, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born May 13, 1918, on P-4 Ranch Fort Basinger to Clifford and Clara (Williams) Pearce.
He was a longtime cattlemen in the Okeechobee area and original developer of the Buckhead Ridge area during the 1950s. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee.
Mr. Pearce was a lifetime member of Magna Carta, Charter member of the Commercial Bank of Okeechobee, member of Belle Glade Elks Lodge, Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge #2417. He also attended the University of Florida where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Leland was an avid member of the Gator Booster Club.
Survivors include: his wife of over 50 years, Mildred (Wood); daughter Linda Pearce Martin and her husband Colonel Charles of Fort Walton Beach; son, Leland Sidney Pearce and his wife Marie of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law Vivian B. Pearce, wife of the late Clifford C. Pearce; sisters, Ruth P. Fulton of Sebring, Evelyn P. Johnson and husband Charles of Sebring and Patricia P. Durrance and her husband Neil of Gainesville; six grandchildren; and, three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 16, from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee with Reverend Fred Gardner and Dr. John Keith officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee.
Arraignments are entrusted to the Bass Funeral Home.
